I just read from one of the dailies that The Inspector General of police was at one time promoted from Commissioner of police to Deputy Inspector General of police. I wonder why he was not demoted too (if this is true). Anyway, i never had faith in this country. It is a case of everyman for himself. |
RUBBISH! |
Big B1:I don't get it. Which part of the post do you agree with? Except I've not been reading your previous posts properly. |
Big B1:Ribadu? The same Ribadu that openly criticized the GARRISON COMMANDER OF IBADAN and his god son before the elections? Big B1, you certainly DO NOT know what has been happening. |
We simply have leaders who do not have any form of direction. They then hide their incompetence under the rule of law. I can't wait for this tenure to end so that we can get over this waste of time quickly. I only hope they won't rig the next set of elections so that we won't need to endure more years of mediocrity. These people are driving me crazy. ![]() |
Big B1:Don't you understand parables? |
We've got lots of shameless people in this country. I think i need to start a thread on our INCOMPETENT LEADERS. This country is FINISHED! |
If you work in my organization and i discover we've been overpaying you and you did not have the sense or integrity to report the error, then YOU ARE OUT! |
No hope if you have a 3rd Class Mentality |
Have you started writing the exams yet? |
gbekumoyan:My Dear, Our Nigerian Educational system has given us a wrong impression about what qualifications really should be. The approach to an Academic qualification is scientific and hypothetical so most of what is taught is theoretical with little or no real life scenarios to work with. Thats where the BSc's, MSc's and Phd's fall into. The application of the theories is left to the practitioners to do. On the other hand, the approach to a professional qualification is based more on Case Studies and the application of theories that the academics have propounded. The MBA's and other professional professional exams like CFA, ACCA, CPA, etc fall into this category. The LBS MBA seems to be the only MBA in Nigeria that is being run properly so thats not an issue. ACCA, is not professional by name only. The approach is based on what professional qualifications should really be. The structure is such that you can study on your own and at your own pace but the questions are almost entirely case study based. You also need to have completed 36 months of supervised and relevant work experience before you can even call yourself an ACCA, so while you are learning the theory by reading you are also learning by DOING. I don too talk sef. I'm out! |
Fummiee:You no go school? There's a difference between an ACADEMIC qualification and a PROFESSIONAL qualification. Do i still need to explain that to you? |
gbekumoyan:ACCA is not an ACADEMIC Qualification. madam |
ACCA - No 1 professional qualification world wide. All you need is to finish the exam and the sky can not even limit you. TSP:Need info on how to pass ACCA without stress? get in touch with me. By the way, did you study Accounting? |

I have been trying to ignore this thread but i think its time i contribute. Now before i start, i will like to let you know where i am coming from. I currently have 2 degrees, the first happens to be a 3rd class and the second a 1st class. I got into the university believing i was a good student that did not need too much effort to excell in my studies so what did i do; i missed lectures, stayed off campus, did not study for exams until about a week or 2 to the exams, made friends with lay abouts, the list is endless. What was the result? 2 extra years and and a 3rd class degree. I felt so bad because i knew i was sharp but i had to prove it. I registered for a professional exam that also offered a BSc with their package. I read like a mad man. I never missed one lecture, started preparing for the exams months before the date of exams, read my study texts back to back, practised all available past questions, moved with the people i identified as being top fliers, etc. The result? I never failed any paper. I was a top scorer (average exam scores of of about 73), to crown it all up, i was awarded a First class in the BSc degree. My point is that everyone that left school with any grade deserved it, be it a 1st, 2.1, 2.2, or 3rd. (of course there can be very few exceptions) If you believe you could have done better then you need to prove it. Employers have a right to decide their entry criteria and they have good reasons for it. If you no like am go start your own company. Lets learn to take responsibility for our own mistakes. |
tolun2s:Do not be decieved. ACCA is NOT easier than ICAN. if you want to write ACCA because you think it is easy please don't bother. You will simply waste your hard earned Pounds Sterling. |
Emmycal: |
Naijapikin:yes i was just joking. and congrats on your ICAN |
eyaaaaah! sorry oh. why not try ANAN. |
@ baril you'l have to send in your transcript with your application. they will decide if you are qualified for any exemption. |
@ denowo, my average scores so far is 73% @ victor i wrote the optional papers last diet 3.3 and 3.4 so i am now writing the core papers. it should have been 3.5, 3.6, 3.7 in the old syllabus but in the new syllabus it is P1, P2 and P3. i also have a degree in Engineering from University of Ilorin. |
@ fables you DO NOT pay up to 400 pounds for the exam. after the 62 pounds for registration you pay depending on the papers and level you write. details are below Knowledge £45 / paper Skills £53 / paper Professional £61 / paper @ all i just received an email notification from Oxford Brookes, them say i pass the project and i get FIRST CLASS. help me thank God oh. i hope the employers in Nigeria will respect it. |
@ denowo how is the Oxford Brookes degree in applied accounting regarded in the UK, is it highly regarded or is it different from other BSc's? |
ogor etta:I don't completely agree with the difficult part. ACCA is very challenging but they try as much as possible to help their students pass. you have access to study materials, past question papers, etc. At times they also give an insight into what might be featured in the exams. Your exam scores are also shown so if you get a 49 (thats a fail) you get to know. with all these study aids available, the pass rate for some of the papers is as low as 30% (i.e only about 30% candidates pass). A guy that taught me in level one (ICAN qualified accountant, and was also given some exemptions) did not pass a paper we wrote together. |
fables:even if you no go school at all, you can write the exams. with your OND you will write 14 papers and the exams are taken twice a year. june and december. as for how much, it depends on who is registering you but it costs 62 pounds to register. you can call Victor. visit www.accaglobal.com for info. |
victor4u:the last exams were fine, except for 3.3. but i am trusting God. i'll be writing the core papers this dec. (P1, P2 and P3). i have started lectures already at SYNERGY. By the way, i should be receiving the result of my Oxford brookes project tomorrow. pls pray for me oh. |
All these small children. i am sorry for you. by the time the guy finishes with you, you won't know what hit you. better face your studies. A word is enough for the wise (but i am not sure if you are)! |
@ victor your information is not entirely accurate. i'll deal with the misleading ones ONLY. 1. To be eligible for the MBA you have to be a full member (NOT an Affliate) which means you would have completed 3 years of SUPERVISED work experience including passing all the exams. Then you will be exempted from some exams that are similar in the MBA. SO YOU WILL STILL NEED TO WRITE EXAMS FOR THE MBA including the project. the MBA is delivered online and study materials will be sent to you. the MBA is delivered through the Oxford Institute of International Finance. 2. If you have ICAN, you will write a MINIMUM of FIVE papers. no exemptions are granted for level 3 papers. @ all For those that want to register for ACCA, its better you contact the ACCA office for details. it is cheaper and more reliable to register through them. the only challenge is that you would have to get a UK (sterling) draft of 62 pounds or find a way to pay online. You can also use any of the lecture centers. a lot of people are having problems with their registration because of dubious agents. ACCA is a challenging exam, so if you don't want Oyinbo to use your money to plant flowers, be prepared. |
ikechukwu:ACCA's representative office is in Lagos. 4th floor, Africa Re Building, plot 1679 Karimu Kotun, VI, Lagos. But i know there are organizations offering ACCA lectures in Abuja. They should be able to help you with whatever info you need. you can call 012705560 (ACCA NIgeria) for any information and details of lecture centers in Abuja. |
the truth is that you need to go back to school and get a higher qualification. the challenge is how but you have to find a way around it. by the way, which course did you study (your OND)? that way i can be more specific. |
piece of advice: go back to school, get a masters degree and if possible a PHD. you can teach part time while you are doing all that. then you can teach at the highest level. If you are sure about the way you feel, then thats where you can find fulfillment. wishing you the best. |
