I can’t never live more than 4 months in Nigeria anymore Omo.....this was my route home for years. It's sad that the road has become this terrible. The road and traffic situation in Lagos is depressing, I used to have constant headache. Thank God i don't have to see this nonsense again everyday.

Apparently you don't like being told you are wrong. You said "10k may put one in the 40% tax bracket"......which is wrong and i pointed that out to you. You claimed i did not know what i was talking about and also stated that i was misleading people. You even brought googled evidence to support your case when in actual fact that same evidence showed you were wrong. So....what are you waxing lyrical about? |

planetx: Everyone is earning six figures in corporate America on an anonymous forum, I don't need to roll with illegal immigrants to know that the vast majority of Nigerians living in the US are only Naira rich because of the terrible exchange rate. No one said anything about six figures. You said 80k (is 80k six figures?) and that was what i was addressing. How can you say 98% of Nigerians living in the US never held a job paying $80k? Are you a joker? I understand that a six figure salary is a lot but saying 98% of Nigerians earn less than 80k means the people you know are illegals or don't have the capacity to earn above 80k. planetx: 98% of Nigerians living in the US have never held a job paying $80,000 per annum or more, lol keep deceiving yourselves. Most Nigerians in the US are either driving uber, amazon or if they are females nursing aid or maybe a nurse. Vast majority are average, the only saving grace is the terrible exchange rate. |

After the federal tax, what about provincial?
What about EI deductions and compulsory retirement plan deductions?
Dont misinform people. LOL. Who send you make you go live for New York?? States have different state tax rates (NY has the highest state tax) and I live in a state that does not have any state tax......they don't call it provincial tax in the US. Your reality is not another person's reality. Information is key!!! Please note.... i am an accountant and i work in a CPA firm. I do taxes for individuals and corporations.

GloShare: A salary of 10k may put one in the 40% tax bracket.
That means just about 6k remaining. House rent 1,500 Insurance and other utilities 1k Feeding and unforeseen expenses for a single person $400.
So. The savings may not be as much as you think.
Dont forget, the 10k job is not guaranteed. Wrong!!! At 120k per annum, federal income tax bracket is 24% and your effective tax rate can be less than 20%. Also, you do not need to live in a $1,500 per month apartment. |

Get ready to be doing menial/odd jobs for 5-10 years b4 you will accustom yourself to the new reality and if God smiles at you... you could start earning that 10k monthly Lol. You don't know what you are saying. I am a black youth and migrated in August from what you call a "shit hole" country. I don't even have green card yet.....just an Employment Authorization Document (EAD) It took me 4 months to get the EAD and i started work within a month of getting the EAD. Your 5 to 10 years is a fallacy. Only for illegal immigrants. I am not doing a menial job. I earn that range of 5k to 10k monthly and the job is even almost an entry level role....imagine if i change jobs after six months of US experience. J111333: 10k/month a lot of cash? Have you considered federal and state taxes, mortgage/high rent, bills of all kinds, car, health and home insurances in that 10k? By the time Trump's Amelica system deal with you finish eeh, if you go home with 5k from that amount, na miracle unless ofcourse you have Igbotic sense. This your statement is full of ignorance. Earning $10k is a lot of cash. Most US residents don't even earn close to $10k monthly (reported median wage for 2019 was less than 50k per year). Except the fellow is a spendthrift, you can easily save 5k from a monthly income of 10k even with taxes, rent/mortgage and student loans.....and saving 5k monthly is saving a lot of money. |

If he makes let's say 5k$ over there, he won't be any different from someone making 500k here because over there he I'll still spend in $ not naira.. unless he is talking about serene environment which also comes with its own downside like racism and stuffs.
For me 500k# here over 5k$ there anyday anytime LOL. 1. A programmer will make more than $5k monthly by far. 2. Even if he makes only $5k monthly........$5k in US will go much more than N500k in Nigeria and he will save more than he will ever save in Nigeria. 3. Forget how much he makes in Nigeria.......this country na suffer. What is really important is for him to leave legally if the opportunity comes because if he plans to be an illegal immigrant he will be jumping from a frying pan to fire. |

My advice for Nigerians based in Nigeria using these Fintechs is to think longterm. Buy good companies at a great bargain and wait it out. Yes. YerYer: Basically when the market was spooked last week with reports of increasing corona virus cases in some states, I had the hunch we may be having a 2nd wave or a continuation of the 1st wave so I bought call options in ETSY, ZM, APT, PTON, LVGO, EBAY and SLV. In a nut shell, If the stock goes up, the options trade goes up incrementally. They must stay above their strike price before expiration, if they sell off, I can lose 100% of the money I spent buying those call options. Currently up about $10k from these trades alone. Does it mean you can't exit before those dates you have there? |

BJ2020: In my K1 application form submitted to USCIS, my son is already included and the USCIS is already aware he's in the US because in the form, it requires the present address of my son and i wrote the address and the number of my Ex in the form which was submitted and the application has been Approved. The next step is scheduling appointment at the embassy and the medicals. I believe since i was approved, my son is also approved automatically. But my problem is i don't know how to go about it. I don't know if i need to fill the DS160 form for my son and select K2 as the category of the visa and also if my son would require medicals, would they suggest an hospital in the US. He is in Dallas Texas. Will your son attend the interview with you? Clearly the answer is NO so don't fill a DS160 for someone that won't be attending the interview. All you need to do is to fill your own form and attend the interview alone. Of course, expect serious questions and scrutiny about your son and your ex-spouse from the VO especially since your son is already in the US with his mom on an expired visa. Make sure you are prepared for any possible question and please ensure whatever answers you give is the truth and nothing but the truth. |

OakPearl: I like the fact you are sticking to your strategy in making a foray into uncharted waters.
I had the feeling we have dividend aristocrats in this forum and already had a watchlist of good dividend stocks to share for the benefit of all who may be interested.
Apart from looking for the highest yielding dividend stocks, the best of them are those who have been consistent in the last 5, 10, 25, and 50 years. REITS are also very good proposition for dividend income because of the nature of their business and the mandatory law that makes it obligatory for them to pay out a huge percentage of their PAT as dividend annually.
Energy Transfer (ET) $8.43 with EPS of $0.71 and div yield of 14.48% Starwood Property Trust (STWD) $15.32 with EPS of $1.29 and div yield of 12.48% Exxon Mobil (XOM) $49.21 with EPS of $2.49 and dvd yield of 7.07% White Horse Finance (WHF) $11.53 with EPS of $0.14 and div yield of 12.32% Phillips 66 Partners (PSXP) $40.57 with EPS of $.87 and div yield of 8.63% AT&T (T) $31.16 with EPS of $1.97 and div yield of 6.68% (5G candidate) Ventas Inc. (VTR) $41.58 with EPS of $1.44 and div yield of 7.64% Verizon (VZ) $56.79 with EPS of $4.44 and div yield of 4.33% (5G candidate) Canadian Natural Resources (CNQ) $18.15 with EPS of $1.89 and div yield of 6.88% LTC Properties (LTC) $39.36 with EPS of $3.10 and div yield of 5.79% Shaw Communication (SJR) $16.88 with EPS of $1.00 and div yield of 5.03% (This one will make people money during the 5G boom) Kimco Realty Corp (KIM) $14.06 with EPS of $0.75 and div yield of 7.96%
The list is not exhaustive, but I have also been careful not to list companies with low dvd yield, and negative EPS that has high div yield record which is obviously deceptive. Low liquidity stocks have also been avoided to allow for easy sell off whenever an investor wishes to jump ship. Note also that every change in price automatically affects the dividend yield. Apart from dividend income, the above stocks have good upside potential for capital appreciation too for the patient. Due diligence advised. Baba o. I hail. One other good thing about these stocks you listed is that the P/E ratio for most of them is solid. |
