McKren:I agree with you 120%. I'm having more reasons to believe that it will take a serious revolution to clear all the ills in this country. The way these people shamelessly carry out their activities despite the fact that they know people will shout and make noise baffles me. They DO NOT care about what we think or say because all we will do is make noise on the pages of the newspapers and on the internet. I wonder if they even bother to visit nairaland. It's a case of everyman for himself. Try changing the country like Ribadu did and the powers that be will be out to frustrate and finish you. I honestly do not have faith in this country especially with the current crop of leaders we have. |
To know more about the current income tax rates in Nigeria, click on the link below. http://www.citn.org/taxrates.php it does not cover all the possible allowances you can get but it will suffice at this level. |
Seeeeeunnnn! Be careful. |
The shit Admiral (and his mad ratings) is a DISGRACE to humanity |
I've gone through some of the materials on opentuition.com, and trust me (I am an ACCA Affiliate and i also teach ACCA), they are not sufficient for the exams by themselves. The materials are highly summarized and do not cover everything you need to know to pass the exams. Your BPP or Kaplan study texts and exam kits (Q & A) is enough. all you need is to study them diligently and practice ALL the questions in the revision kit. You should be a top scorer if you do that. And for using FAMS, i think the BPP or Kaplan text is already a mouthful and you might be wasting time using another study material. Besides the BPP and Kaplan is written specifically for the ACCA syllabus so it contains all you need to know while FAMS is not and does not specifically address IAS's (that is not to say that it might not be useful). Wishing you guys all the best. |
Mustay:Please DO NOT attempt to write 4 papers if you just want to decide which papers to write. It is SUICIDAL! It would be wiser writing only 2 at this point as you have only about 50 days to the exams. But frankly, this is not the time to be thinking of which papers to write, that should have been done a long time ago. You need to commit lots of time to your ACCA studies. That is about the surest way to pass. Plan early next time. Wishing you all the best. |
ifyalways:Men, you harsh oh. I think i hit a soft spot. ![]() I won't bring myself down to your level so i would ignore your uncultured language. |
ifyalways:Is it that you are ashamed of your great international market in Aba or what? I'm sure you would not have posted that if the pictures were pleasing to the eyes. What i saw is really an eyesore. It's a shame on this nation. I think the Government should consider modernizing the market. But then, will our people let them? |
royalicon:I am seriously amused! These pro ICEN people amaze me. When did a 'bill' that has not been passed become an 'Act'. Why are you guys spreading half truths? Why don't you quote the Act of Parliament that established your Institute? Besides that, you cannot legislate a Professional Institute into being. It is the market that determines whether a qualification is reputable or not. Look around and you will see lots of worthless qualifications and certifications (even though they have some sort of legal backing). The craze for paper qualification is really making some people act foolishly and also making some other people rich due to some people's foolishness. |
MORANO CEE:Hi Morano, The Chartered Institute of Administration truly gets some exemptions from some ACCA papers but it does not give you MUCH exemptions as you claim. You only get exempted from 3 papers out of a total of 14. How that corresponds to MUCH beats me. You should be more accurate with your information. This was copied from the ACCA website for you to see. ACCA Qualification - Exemptions Institution CHARTERED INSTITUTE OF ADMINISTRATION Programme DIPLOMA IN PROFESSIONAL ADMINISTRATION - All Graduates Completion of the above programme provides exemption from the following paper(s): Paper Title F1 Accountant in Business F3 Financial Accounting F4 Corporate and Business Law Institution CHARTERED INSTITUTE OF ADMINISTRATION Programme POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN ADMINISTRATION - Graduates to 31-DEC-1987 Completion of the above programme provides exemption from the following paper(s): Paper Title F1 Accountant in Business F3 Financial Accounting F4 Corporate and Business Law Cheers! |
MORANO CEE:ACCA was referring to the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA) in the UK. |
ifeco1a_y2:What? Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA) establishing the Institute of Chartered Economists of Nigeria? Or you meant to say that your fake institute was incorporated as an organization under CAMA. Anybody can go register an organization. Your fake institute is not recognized as a Chartered Institute by any law in this country. Stop deceiving people by quoting stuffs you don't even seem to understand. I can imagine the quality of people your institute churns out. |
Nigeria1: sharp, do you want them to come to your house and close you too down.Abeg oh! I no mention any name. I am only a young man being amused by what is going on around him. God bless Nigeria!!! |
A man once claimed to have a Seven Point Agenda. His performance before now showed that he only had one - 'DO NOTHING!'. Now he wants to prove (or is it his lieutenants?) that he's got some ACTION. Lets see how the drama unfolds. |
Why should Seun go on National TV to sell his idea? I think he's much more than that. He's got a good product and can easily get finance if he needs any. For me, i think it is absolutely unnecessary. |
Seun:I can't believe someone posted this. On a second thought, anything is possible. I think the people of Thailand have made a bold statement. Anyone coming after the current prime minister, if he is eventually sent packing, will think twice before trying to steal public funds. |
dm2jk:Call ACCA UK on ACCA Connect tel: +44 (0)141 582 2000 Call very early in the morning around 4.30 to 5.00am so you won't have to wait for long and tell them your problems. They should sort it out for you. Cheers! |
@dm2jk You really do not need to attend lectures but you must be sure you are disciplined enough to study on your own. dm2jk:Still working out a plan? You should have started reading. You don't have much time anymore. And most importantly, don't underestimate the exam and don't assume that you know the contents of the syllabus. You need to study like you are just learning the materials and also practice lots of questions. All the best. |
Mad people! Dem don start again. MC Usman:And this MC Usman guy, you really do not deserve a response. |
ife-eco-06:I strongly believe that everyone born of a women is naturally brilliant in SOMETHING. You only need to figure out what you love doing and what makes you tick. If you can discover what makes you tick, you would effortlessly devote time and resources to getting the required knowledge. If you are tested appropriately, you would most likely make a first class or its equivalent. Except of course you have what i call 'negative home support' (meaning the witches and wizards in your village still dey follow you). So i still think that ANYONE can make a first class. |
First Class degree is not a passport to First Class LifeCorrect! But then, as a fresh graduate it gives you a tremendous advantage over your peers. |
eldee:I forgot to add that. You must love what you are doing. |
Natural brilliance? I THINK anyone can get a first class. Recipe: 1. Make getting a first class your goal. Accept nothing less. 2. Start preparing for exams even before the semester (or lectures) starts. 3. DO NOT miss lectures even if you don't like the lecturer and make sure you sit on the first row in class everytime. 4. Use a reading timetable and allocate appropriate time for each of your courses. Stick to the timetable and DO NOT neglect any course. 5. Make friends with people who have the same goals and who are highfliers in your class. 6. Look for a mentor, someone who is in a higher class running the same course and who, of course is on a 4.5 and above. 7. Use past questions a lot. Most lecturers repeat exam questions. 8. Most importantly, believe God. |
dearie:I certainly agree with you. We tend to believe anything we hear or read in this part of the world without thinking about it. I work in an organization that does lots of training for Banks and Financial Institutions. From research, the banks are still recruiting big time (from entry level to experienced hires). I wonder where people get their information from. |
Every "recognized" organization started out like ICEN. Let's just pray that ICEN certification doesn't become compulsory. Not in this LIFETIME. And when that eventually happens (if it will ever happen) you would be long gone. So why waste your precious time? |
ifeco1a_y2:That you are a member of the so called INSTITUTE OF CHARTERED ECONOMISTS OF NIGERIA (ICEN) does not stop the body from being fake. It IS NOT RECOGNISED and to date i have not seen any employer of labour requesting the qualification for any job or position. Why don't you focus on more reputable qualifications rather than making some certain people rich because of your craze for paper qualifications. |
Georgia made a terrible mistake by trying to take control of South Ossetia when majority of the people there had Russian passports and Russia had America could not have gotten involved because it would have escalated the war and added a new dimension to it. I don't think anyone wants that. Bottom line is Russia is just a BULLY that is trying to terrorize its neighbours. |
@ victor I am fine oh. Wishing you the best as you wait for the 18th of August. |
teetee2:Just send in your application with photocopies of your credentials. You will still be registered and you might still get the exemptions without the transcript (that's if you have a degree in Accounting). If you don't mind, you can call me and i'll give you ALL the info you need on ACCA. |
From the Punch Confusion in NIPSS over Ribadu’s demotion By Tobi Soniyi, Tony Amokeodo, Musikilu Mojeed, Jude Owuamanam, Kayode Ketefe and Fidelis Soriwei Published: Thursday, 7 Aug 2008 The demotion of the former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, from an Assistant Inspector-General of Police to Deputy Commissioner of Police has thrown the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, Plateau State into confusion. Ribadu is attending the Senior Executive Course 30 of the institute based on his rank as an AIG at the time he was sent to NIPPS in a controversial manner. The minimum entry requirement for senior police officers for the programme is Commissioner of Police. The former EFCC boss is expected to graduate from NIPPS in September. The Acting Director -General of the Institute, Dr. Yakubu Sankey, told our correspondent in Kuru on Wednesday that the management was at a loss over what to do with Ribadu. Sankey said that with the demotion, NIPPS was confused because Ribadu was more than half-way into the programme. He said, “The development in the police is a surprise to us here; they sent him here and he is more than half-way through his programme, so what do we do? This is the first time we are facing this kind of situation. “I am waiting for instruction from above. I don’t think it is wise for us to say anything on the issue, more so that police authorities have not briefed us on the demotion. Since we read it in the newspapers we cannot just tell him to go away on that basis. We are waiting for a directive from above and until we hear from there, we cannot do anything.’’ Our correspondent in Jos learnt that Ribadu attended lectures on Wednesday with his course-mates. There was, however, uneasy calm at the Police Force Headquarters, Abuja on Wednesday, over Ribadu’s demotion and 139 other police officers by the Police Service Commission. The News Agency of Nigeria reported that officers and men converged in groups, discussing the matter, especially that of Ribadu and other commissioners. A cross-section of police officers said the development was a good policy that was capable of ending godfatherism in the force. “This type of policy is the best, it will provide a level-playing ground for all officers, and it will do away with godfatherism in the Force,‘‘ an Assistant Commissioner of Police, who preferred anonymity, said. On the demotion of the late Haz Iwendi, a former Commissioner of Police, Kaduna State Command, some of the policemen said it was normal to de-rank, dismiss or promote a deceased officer, depending on the situation. “In the military and para-military, the law provides that a deceased officer, soldier or man can be demoted, dismissed or promoted, depending on his offence or merit,‘‘ one of them said. NAN also reported that offices of some of the commissioners demoted to deputy commissioners were less busy on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the former Chief of Staff to Ribadu, Mr. Dapo Olorunyomi, has said that the ex- EFCC boss is not bothered about his demotion. He said, “I can confirm to you that Ribadu is taking the development with philosophical calmness. As you know, he has two or three months to go in his course in Kuru. That is the only thing in his mind for now. “The development as bizarre as it is will not dampen his morale and those of others who earnestly want to serve their country.” Olorunyomi said Ribadu had appealed to all his associates, friends and sympathisers, who called to express concern, to remain calm and law-abiding. But more Nigerians, including a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Chief Gani Fawehinmi, have slammed the PSC for the demotion. The other Nigerians are another SAN, Mrs. Funke Adekoya; a former Edo State Governor, Chief Odigie Oyegun and the Chairman of the National Conscience Party, Dr. Osagie Obayuwana. They said it was patently illegal and embarrassing for the PSC to hide under ‘due process’ to demote officers that did not promote themselves. Fawehinmi, in a statement said, “ Ribadu’s non-criminal offence for these atrocious and oppressive actions of the Federal Government against him is his (Ribadu’s) honest character and the unprecedented arrest, arraignment and trial of some powerful bigmen for corruption. “I want President Umaru Yar’Adua to realise that any government that punishes honesty sows the seeds of its inevitable destruction by corruption.” On her part, Adekoya said, “I think it is very wrong and harsh on these officials for them to be demoted like that. “However, the PSC has the power to appoint and promote officers. If the promotion of these officials did not follow due process, then the demotion will not be illegal. “Even then, it is an embarrassment to the whole nation that these officers were promoted only to be demoted.” In his own comment, Oyegun said that the government should have committed its effort towards chasing those that had stolen the money of the Nigerian people instead of going after Ribadu which is a less important issue. Obayuwana also said that Ribadu’s demotion was “ridiculous, vindictive, a disappointing signal and serious contradictions on the part of the government.” Also on Wednesday, a group, the Socio –Economic and Accountability Project, said it had written to the Special Rappoteur on the Situation of Human Rights Defenders at the United Nations’ Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, Mrs. Margaret Sekaggya, to condemn Ribadu’s demotion. In the letter to Sekaggya, SERAP said that the demotion was “in bad faith and part of a persistent smear campaign against Ribadu for his anti-corruption campaign while in office.” It asked the Special Rappoteur to assert her mandates by putting pressure on the Federal Government to reverse its decision to demote Ribadu and to stop further harassment and intimidation against him. SERAP also asked the Special Rapporteur to send a strong message to the Federal Government that the campaign of intimidation and harassment against anti-corruption campaigner was unacceptable and would not be tolerated. The group said that there were credible reports that while the government was announcing Ribadu’s demotion, the State Security Service was also making attempts to arrest him in Kuru, Jos, purportedly for “questioning”. The SSS however denied that it attempted to arrest the former EFCC chairman. An SSS source disclosed to one of our corespondents that it has got nothing to do with Ribadu’s demotion. “It is purely a police affair and we are not involved at all.” However, it was learnt that although Ribadu is still in Kuru at Wednesday evening, he might have been officially served a formal invitation through the office of the Plateau State Director of the SS. It was not clear as at press time the reason for his invitation. |
Go to a shrine and request for a love portion. Then use the juju exactly the way you've been asked to use it. He'll definitely become addicted to you. |
bonebaba:You're right. One day Bushmeat go catch the Hunter in this hopeless country! |
because they had no question of corruption to answer. So this idea that when a thief is asked to give account of their stewardship they tell you they quarelled with the President the previous night that is why they are being persecuted is just silly.
