Since the release of Korede Bello’s Godwin
video , it’s been trailed with mixed reactions
mostly positive. However, while most of y’all
choose to stay in this safe, happy bubble and
give Korede and his team pats on their backs,
there were certain things I found curious (I’m
trying to be polite here), as such this article will
address just that. Note to Bellovers: this is not a
review, so… chill!!! Biko.
If there’s such a term as “overcuteness”, then,
there was an overdose of it in this video. I’m
of the opinion that Korede needs to loose his
cute/innocent boy next door image and pull a
Justin Beiber on us in the nearest future (Dear
God, I don’t mean go haywire). Back to the
matter, Adasa Cookey is actually one of the
directors I’ve been rooting for but this?….
Gerarahiaa!! Obviously an HD picture, and from
what I heard, the label didn’t have to spend
money thanks to sponsorship from Access Bank
and Lekki Gardens. It’s not as if it was terrible
storytelling, truth is, it was a really good visual
translation of the song, also good use of
costume, but there were just a couple of things
terribly lacking in the video, and more
importantly few things we could have done
without….
1. BOVI
Everybody loves Bovi, but as is typical of the
Nigerian entertainment industry we tend to
overdo things. I mean after watching the ‘Hour
of Victory’ flick, I did laugh a bit. Plus it added
an extra 40 seconds (or more) to the 3minutes+
video, however it was as unnecessary as the ‘k’
in knee, and if we are being honest here we’ve
seen Bovi do better.
2. THAT DANCE
At first when I saw the dance I simply assumed
our dear Korede Bello was on the verge of an
epileptic fit, (I mean it could have been part of
the story line…) What was that? Seriously?? I
literally cringed every time Korede did the very
weird ….i don’t even know what to call it! As for
DonJazzy, don’t be an agbaya please. I’ve heard
and read various comments on that dance and
none of it fit for public consumption so I’ll just
keep them to myself. I get that Korede isn’t that
much of a performer (unlike Reekado), I mean
I’ve watched him struggle to actually get into
character on stage and in videos except maybe
Dorobucci where he actually had to act cute so
that didn’t prove to be too much trouble.
But if you really had to do a dance ( or shall i call
it jig?) try and get a choreographer to show you
some moves so you don’t end up looking like a
fulani cultural dancer without his stick. Just
don’t do that ever again! On the flip side, his
attempt at Igbo dance was pretty impressive.
3. HE WINKED….AGAIN!!!
Someone needs to tell Korede to stop with his
winks! It was cute in Dorrobuci video, it was
getting a little bit worrying in the Adaobi video,
now its just plain annoying!! Please retire
the wink !!
I’d describe Godwin as an energetic song with a
feel-good nature that inspires this feeling of
gratitude and makes you want to do a little jig,
sadly watching this video will almost bring all
that to a screeching halt.

Facts have emerged showing why
Senate President Bukola Saraki led
a delegation of Senators to meet
former President Olusegun
Obasanjo at his hilltop mansion,
Abeokuta, Ogun state on Friday.
A source close to the meeting told
PREMIUM TIMES that the Senate
President was in Abeokuta to beg
Mr. Obasanjo to reconcile him
with President Muhammadu
Buhari and his party, the All
Progressives Congress, APC.
Mr. Saraki emerged as the
president of the Senate against
the decision of APC leaders. He
was also elected when most
Senators from the APC were at the
International Conference Centre
waiting to hold a meeting with
Mr. Buhari to discuss the election
of the Senate president and
Speaker of the House of
Representatives.
Our sources said Mr. Saraki
lamented to Mr. Obasanjo that
although the party leaders have
stated that they have accepted his
emergence, there was “complete
communication breakdown
between him, the president and
the party”.
The national chairman of the APC,
John Oyegun, had abruptly
cancelled a scheduled meeting
with Mr. Saraki last week without
giving another appointment.
Likewise, we also gathered that
Mr. Saraki had tried severally to
meet with Mr. Buhari after his
emergence, but was always
denied audience.
Another source in the presidency
informed us that the President
was angry with Mr. Saraki and the
management of the national assembly for
going ahead with their election despite
adequate knowledge of an invitation for a
meeting with Mr. Saraki and his colleagues.
“The president considered it as a mark of
disrespect for his office for Saraki to ignore an
invitation to meet with him and his
colleagues,” our source said.
In his response to the Senate President’s
lamentation, Mr. Obasanjo reportedly
promised to do his best to “ensure
communication between all parties”.
However, the spokesperson for the president,
Garba Shehu, said the Senate president has
never sought a meeting meeting with Mr.
Buhari since his election.
“I am not aware of any request for a meeting,
the president would have seen him, he
represents a key institution in our
democracy,” he said.
Calls to Mr. Saraki and his aide, Bamikole
Omishore, were not answered.
Our source said the former president, in his
usual jocular self, also joked with the
delegation, saying “ you children of nowadays
only run to elders when you have finished
making the damage”.
Mr. Saraki and his entourage laughed.
A presidency official told PREMIUM TIMES
President Buhari was aware of the the senate
president’s visit to Mr. Obasanjo’s home.
The official said Messrs Buhari and Obasanjo
are constantly in touch and regularly have
telephone conversations.
The official said in one of their recent
conversations, Mr. Obasanjo informed Mr.
Buhari that Mr. Saraki was leading a
delegation of Senators to his Abeokuta home.
“I overheard President Buhari laughing and
saying to Mr. Obasanjo, “you have to see
them, are they not all your boys?”, our
presidency source said.
Among Mr. Saraki’s delegation include former
governor of Gombe state, Danjuma Goje,
Senator Andy Uba, former Zamfara governor,
Ahmed Sani, and former Osun governor,
Olagunsoye Oyinlola.
Mr. Saraki and most members of his
delegation are largely Mr. Obasanjo’s “boys”,
a term loosely used in describing the former

Resident doctors at the Ladoke Akintola
University of Technology Teaching Hospital,
Osogbo, on Thursday staged a fresh protest
in Osogbo, Osun State capital, to register
their anger over the non-payment of their
salaries for the past eight months.
The doctors asked Governor Rauf
Aregbesola to resign from office if he failed
to pay them by the end of June which he
promised.
The doctors, who were led the their
President, Dr. Olalekan Ajayi, had gathered
at the premises of the hospital from where
they trooped out to the streets singing anti-
government songs.
Armed with placards, with various
inscriptions like: “Even Slaves Deserve to be
Fed; 230 Days of Unpaid Salaries and
Ogbeni, Pay our Salaries,” the doctors
caused traffic snarl at Station Road.
Members of the Association of Resident
Doctors had, on May 12, staged a similar
protest and marched to the House of
Assembly where they dropped their protest
letter.
Speaking in an interview with journalists at
the end of the protest, ARD president said
despite being owed eight months, doctors
were not on strike but explained that they
could not work because of the strike
embarked upon by other categories of
workers in the hospital.
He said, “We have not been paid for the
past eight months. And since then, we have
been lobbying and appealing to the
government to help but till date we have
not been paid.
“It has not only affected us as humans, it
has affected our families and also our
patients. We are telling the government of
Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola to do the needful.
“This is economic genocide in our state. It
is not compatible with life. For these eight
months, we have tried to maintain peace
and industrial harmony. There is no official
announcement that we are on strike but
we can’t work.
“The hospital is down, everybody is down
and there is no way we can actually work
as professionals.”
Ajayi stated that patients were dying
because of the financial crisis which he said
had brought every sector of the state
down.
The doctors said salary payment should be
a priority for any government sensitive to
the needs of the people.
They called on President Muhammadu
Buhari to help Osun and other states out
of the financial crisis which they said was
worse than the problem of insecurity.

Obieze, said that a lot of time had been wasted as a result of difficulty in serving the parties. Obieze said that some of the parties were yet to file some of their processes and ordered that this should be done on or before June 22. He said that the tribunal would not entertain any application for extension of time to file any process. The judge also said that there was no technicality in election petition cases and therefore the outcome would be based on merit. Obieze said that the hours of proceedings of the tribunal would be different from that of regular courts and asked the counsel to agree on convenient time to start each day. The lead counsel to Ladoja and Accord Party, Mr Richard Ogunwole (SAN), and counsel to Ajimobi, Mr Wole Olanipekun (SAN), said whatever time the court fixed would be okay. However, the counsel to APC, Mr Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN) and INEC’s counsel, Mr Adeboye Sobanjo, differed and suggested 10.00 a.m. for the court to begin sitting. They also urged the court to allow an hour for break between 2.30p.m. and 3.30p.m., except on Fridays when it would be between 1.30 p.m. and 2.30p.m., which the tribunal agreed to. (NAN)

Policemen from Zone 2 command, Onikan, Lagos, have
arrested two persons who allegedly posed as daughter to
former President Olusegun Obasanjo and an intelligence
officer respectively, to Senator Buruji Kashamu, with a plan
to poison the former President.
The suspects identified as Peter Uwakala and Victoria
Alaegbu, it was gathered, were arrested following a
complaint by Kashamu at Zone 2, last month.
The suspects, it was gathered, met with Kashamu at a hotel
in Victoria Island, Lagos, on May 8, 2015,where they
allegedly called the former presidents unprintable names
and offered to poison him. In response to the complaint
lodged by Kashamu, the command reportedly swung into
action and arrested the suspects.
According to a police report obtained by our correspondent:
“The fact of the case was that the complainant alleged in his
verbal complaint that the duo of Peter Uwakala and Victoria
Alaegbu falsely represented themselves as an intelligence
officer and daughter to the former President Obasanjo
respectively to him under the pretence that they were going
to resolve the political rift between him and Obasanjo.
“He stressed that the duo met with him at a hotel, where the
latter who had collected N500,000 from his younger brother,
made some uncomplimentary and derogatory remarks
about the former president, while the former introduced
herself as Yetunde Obsandjo to him. He added that he had
to report to the police upon his suspicion of foul play by the
suspects. “Investigation conducted revealed that the duo
were impersonators.
From the foregoing, it was established that both Peter
Uwakala and Victoria Alaegbu actually committed the
offences alleged by the complainant and have been charged
accordingly in line with the prescription of the law.
“The suspects were arraigned before Chief Magistrate
Adeola Adedayo at the Igbosere Magistrate Court, Lagos on
June 5, 2015 and were remanded at Kirikiri Prisons. The
matter was adjourned to July 31, 2015.” It was gathered
that Kashamu's gesture of reporting the matter to the police
in spite of their political differences made Obasanjo to say
he had forgiven Kashamu of any grudge he had against him.
It was gathered that the rapprochement led to Kashamu
withdrawing the N20billion libel suit against Obasanjo.

A South African judge yesterday Sunday June 14th barred
Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir from leaving the
country after the International Criminal Court called for him
to be arrested at the AU summit in Johannesburg.
Bashir, who is wanted for alleged war crimes, crimes
against humanity and genocide in the Darfur conflict,
mostly travels to countries that have not joined the ICC, but
South Africa is a signatory of the court's statutes.
The ruling was the first time any court has prevented a
head of state from leaving a country following a request by
the ICC, but Sudanese officials remained defiant, insisting
Bashir would return home on schedule.
The Southern African Litigation Centre, a legal rights group,
had launched an urgent application in the Pretoria High
Court to force authorities to arrest Bashir on the opening
day of the African Union summit.
"President Omar al-Bashir of Sudan is prohibited from
leaving the Republic of South Africa until the final order is
made in this application," Judge Hans Fabricius said in his
ruling.
"The respondents are directed to take all necessary steps
to prevent him from doing so."
Despite the arrest calls, Bashir joined a group photograph
of leaders at the summit.
Wearing a blue suit, he stood in the front row for the
photograph along with South African host President Jacob
Zuma and Zimbabwe's President Robert Mugabe, who is
the chair of the 54-member group.
"We will leave on time as scheduled," Sudan Foreign
Minister Ibrahim Ghandour told reporters. "We are not
abiding with any... decision of any court. We are here as
guests of the government of South Africa. Assurances have
been made by that government."
Ghandour joined other critics of the ICC, saying it was a
court that targets African leaders.
"President Bashir is a leading president, a member of the
summit of the African Union and will continue attending the
summits wherever they are being held inside Africa," he
said.
The ICC called on South Africa "to spare no effort in
ensuring the execution of the arrest warrants" against
Bashir.
It added that South Africa diplomats had been pressed last
month to arrest Bashir if he attended the summit, but that
they had replied they faced "competing obligations" over the
issue.
Bashir, 71, seized power in Sudan in an Islamist-backed
coup in 1989.
The ICC indictments relate to the western Sudanese region
of Darfur, which erupted into conflict in 2003 when ethnic
insurgents launched a campaign against Bashir's Arab-
dominated government, complaining of marginalisation.
Khartoum unleashed a bloody counter-insurgency using the
armed forces and allied militia.
The United Nations says 300,000 people have been killed in
the conflict and another 2.5 million forced to flee their
homes.
Khartoum, however, disputes the figures, estimating the
death toll at no more than 10,000.
"South Africa has an obligation to arrest him,"
Johannesburg-based rights lawyer Gabriel Shumba said.
"Failure to do so puts them in the same bracket as other
African regimes who have no respect for human rights. It's
actually a test for South Africa."
As Judge Fabricius gave his ruling and said the court would
meet again on Monday, the summit opened five hours late
with Zuma not mentioning the issue in his opening
remarks.
"As a member of the International Criminal Court, (South
Africa) has committed to cooperate with that court," Elise
Keppler of Human Rights Watch told the ENCA news
channel.
"This is an incredible moment for South Africa to do the
right thing and to render al-Bashir to the International
Criminal Court.
"It's quite possible that al-Bashir could in fact be taken into
custody before he leaves the country."
The South African government and African Union officials
made no comment on the court ruling.
The summit is meeting for two days in the upmarket
business and retail district of Sandton under the official
theme of the "Year of Women's Empowerment and
Development".

"As a member of the International Criminal Court, (South
Africa) has committed to cooperate with that court," Elise
Keppler of Human Rights Watch told the ENCA news
channel.
"This is an incredible moment for South Africa to do the
right thing and to render al-Bashir to the International
Criminal Court.
"It's quite possible that al-Bashir could in fact be taken into
custody before he leaves the country."
The South African government and African Union officials
made no comment on the court ruling.
The summit is meeting for two days in the upmarket
business and retail district of Sandton under the official
theme of the "Year of Women's Empowerment and
Development".

A South African judge yesterday Sunday June 14th barred
Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir from leaving the
country after the International Criminal Court called for him
to be arrested at the AU summit in Johannesburg.
Bashir, who is wanted for alleged war crimes, crimes
against humanity and genocide in the Darfur conflict,
mostly travels to countries that have not joined the ICC, but
South Africa is a signatory of the court's statutes.
The ruling was the first time any court has prevented a
head of state from leaving a country following a request by
the ICC, but Sudanese officials remained defiant, insisting
Bashir would return home on schedule.
The Southern African Litigation Centre, a legal rights group,
had launched an urgent application in the Pretoria High
Court to force authorities to arrest Bashir on the opening
day of the African Union summit.
"President Omar al-Bashir of Sudan is prohibited from
leaving the Republic of South Africa until the final order is
made in this application," Judge Hans Fabricius said in his
ruling.
"The respondents are directed to take all necessary steps
to prevent him from doing so."
Despite the arrest calls, Bashir joined a group photograph
of leaders at the summit.
Wearing a blue suit, he stood in the front row for the
photograph along with South African host President Jacob
Zuma and Zimbabwe's President Robert Mugabe, who is
the chair of the 54-member group.
"We will leave on time as scheduled," Sudan Foreign
Minister Ibrahim Ghandour told reporters. "We are not
abiding with any... decision of any court. We are here as
guests of the government of South Africa. Assurances have
been made by that government."
Ghandour joined other critics of the ICC, saying it was a
court that targets African leaders.
"President Bashir is a leading president, a member of the
summit of the African Union and will continue attending the
summits wherever they are being held inside Africa," he
said.
The ICC called on South Africa "to spare no effort in
ensuring the execution of the arrest warrants" against
Bashir.
It added that South Africa diplomats had been pressed last
month to arrest Bashir if he attended the summit, but that
they had replied they faced "competing obligations" over the
issue.
Bashir, 71, seized power in Sudan in an Islamist-backed
coup in 1989.

THE eighth Oyo State House of Assembly was
inaugurated on
Wednesday with Honourable Michael Adeyemo elected
unopposed as Speaker.
The emergence of Adeyemo, member representing
Ibarapa East
Constituency on the platform of the All Progressives
Congress (APC), was sequel to a motion of nomination
moved by a member representing Ibadan South West I,
Honourable Kehinde Subair, and seconded by member
representing Oriire Constituency, Honourable Olagunju
Ojo.
A drama was, however, witnessed prior to the
nomination of Adeyemo as a member representing
Ibadan North II, Honourable Olusegun Olaleye, quoted
House rules that the procedure be either open or secret
ballot and not nomination.
Clerk of the House, Mr. Paul Ishola Bankole, however,
ruled that there should be no debate or observation on
the procedure for the emergence of Speaker.
Subsequently, Adeyemo's sole nomination received the
'Yes' voice vote.
Similar drama also played out in the election of a
Minority Leader where Order 7, Rule 91 was
suspended, leading to the emergence of member
representing Oriire Constituency, Honourable Olagunju
Ojo.
Adeyemo, after swearing to an oath of office, assured
of the cooperation of the assembly with the executive
arm of government towards a well- coordinated
direction in governance and politics in the state.
Bearing in mind the composition of the House of three
political parties, Adeyemo prayed that members shun
partisanship and embrace patriotism in the interest of
the people of their constituencies and state at large.
Other principal officers who emerged unopposed were
member representing Saki West, Honourable Abdulwasi
Musa (Deputy Speaker); member, Ibadan South West I,
Honourable Kehinde Subair (Majority
Leader); member, Afijio Constituency, Honourable

Reading his proclamation, Governor Abiola Ajimobi

Kogi State Governor, Idris Wada was today stoned and
booed at the inauguration of the new Assembly
members in Lokoja the state capital.
Wada, who arrived at the venue, Kogi State House of
Assembly Complex at about 10.55am was booed by
the crowd and pelted with sachets of ‘pure water’ as he
walked into the complex . The hostile crowd who were
apparently angry with the governor’s non performance
and absenteeism shouted repeatedly, ‘Barawo’, ‘thief’,
‘ole’, ‘changie dole’, ‘your time is over,” ‘Changi Ya zo’,
‘your time is over, go’, EFCC is waiting for you’ .
Security was immediately beefed up as soldiers were
brought in from the Army Records, Army Barrack in
Lokoja as there was fear that there would be violence
and attacks on Wada at the end of the
inauguration.Shortly after the Assembly was
inaugurated, Wada was reportedly smuggled out of the
Assembly complex after spending just 15 minutes
amidst tight security led by the state Commissioner of

There was mild drama at the Government House in Calabar
on Monday as the new governor of Cross River State, Prof.
Ben Ayade, on his first official day in office locked out civil
servants that had yet to resume for work at 8.10am.
The governor, who resumed work at about 7.45am met an
almost empty complex and directed the Head of Service,
Mrs. Mary-Theresa Ikwen, to shut the gate to the
Government House.
He also directed that henceforth, the gates to all Ministries,
Department and Agencies, should be shut by 8.10am daily
in order to curb lateness.
Civil servants were seen discussing in groups at the
entrance to the government house.
Two civil servants declined to comment on the
development, but a third one who craved anonymity, said
workers would have to change their attitude.
“We would start resuming very early in order not to incur
the governor’s wrath,” he said.
However, the governor, who ordered that the gate be
reopened at about 8.40am, warned all heads of MDAs to
live up to their responsibilities by ensuring that civil
servants served in line with the prescribed civil service
rules.
Ayade said, “If heads of MDAs could report to work as early
as 8am, I see no reason why their subordinates should not
be in their respective offices on or before that time. For
those who are late today, we will pardon them but from
tomorrow, all latecomers will be locked outside and
sanctioned accordingly.”
He maintained that as a successful businessman, he would
not fold his arms and watch civil servants who are
supposed to serve the people relegate their work to the
background.
“I am a change agent, in my younger years, I used to be
addressed as a system purifier and I am here to do just
that, focus exactly on production, expand the horizon and
economic benefits and potential of my people.
“It is only private organisation that runs for profit but
government’s profit is the social safety net, the welfare and
well-being of our people. My profit therefore is the number
of people I employ, my service to my people is the number
of people I have engaged, so coming down to narrow the
number of appointment will mean, I have already started
