EducationRe: Gej Orders Compulsory Entrepreneurship Course For All Undergraduates by sheyguy: 11:02am On Feb 18, 2012
Nice to here this from Gej, should the courses involve practicals on entreprenueral ideas, then i support it. Most grads today have no single hands-on skill and are only willing to consider high paying jobs even when there is nothing of note to offer. Such a program will be beneficial to most undergrads especially the our public school undergrads.
PoliticsRe: Oil Lesson101: 1st Oil Well In Nigeria! Ebonyi State! by sheyguy: 6:28am On Feb 18, 2012
Onlytruth:
I've often said it that oil in Igboland may have been flowing down south leading to the erosion, while we received nothing from it.
. . . .
Everything is deliberately distorted and hidden just to deny us our rights.
Oil could equally be flowing from Ogun/Ondo's untapped reserve into reserves already being explored in othe regions too.

I think the Ibos shld be happy their oyel has not been tapped and used to run an ineffecient Govt yet or stolen.
PoliticsRe: Top Police Chiefs Aided My Escape - Kabiru Sokoto by sheyguy: 3:58am On Feb 18, 2012
The top police officers who 'facilitated' his escape must be tracked down immediately and treated like real BH members. I don't want them dismissed just like we r used to. Those guys definitely know top BH members.
PoliticsRe: Anambra Joins Oil-producing States by sheyguy: 2:42am On Feb 18, 2012
@ranlaen, i thought the oil derivation revenue to states has always been based on what comes out of each state and not total total oil reserves, are u sure of what ur saying?
Anyway, Congrats to Anambra for such a feat. I hope it does not turn out to be another ND style pain in the azz.

PoliticsRe: Ribadu’s Appointment Is An Insult – Tinubu by sheyguy: 5:30pm On Feb 17, 2012
I don't see anything wrong in Ribadu's action or PDP's action. ACN and PDP to a large extent do not have strong political Ideologies or School of thought that contradict one another. There is nothing wrong in Ribadu's actions as far as i am concerned.

one of our colleagues in my department(accounting) left lasu on a cgpa of 3.54 at the end of our year one and i can affirm that he just graduated with a 1st class from accounting dept at unilag. the fact is that in unilag, the environment is good for learning and if u are good u reap what u sow .i just graduated frm this same dept and we didnt have any 1st class. even while in level 3 ,the h.o.d downsize the nos of 2.1 frm 80 to 50 (d higest ever
How did ur HOD manage to do such. Did remark their exam scripts using stiffer marking scheme or he just 'ordered/changed' their CGPA to 2.2 like that.
EducationRe: Nigeria: 118 Students Graduate From Unilag With First Class Honours by sheyguy: 2:51pm On Feb 17, 2012
There is nothing special in118 1st class out of a sample of 3000+ in a relatively compethtive school like unilag is what i meant, not just 1st class in any run down school. As a matter of fact some schs do deny some of their students 1st class if they feel they are much
purplekayc:
@sheyguy : nothing special abi? Hope u had a 1st class?

Na which kind school be this Unilag sef? Dem kukuma don talk am say dem certificate na 3 for five naira. 118 first class ke? Like say first class na pure water. Abi dem VC no sabi the meaning of first class?
what is wrong with the No. of 1st class they grad? In a sample of 3,000+ grads only 118 could make distinction, i think the No. of 1st class is a bit low. There is nothing special in it.

The most laughable thing about it is that a state like Katsina is listed as more populated then Anambra. I'm laughing.

I maintain that there has never been any credible census post independence in Nigeria.
have u seen the map of Nigeria in the last 20yrs? I strongly believe with u ve not with ur post above.

PoliticsRe: Is This True About Sanusi (sls) Or A Tale Of The Old Witch? by sheyguy: 8:00pm On Feb 16, 2012
@Jarus, I was expecting u to honour the request in the comment below by giving us ur own interpretation of the bolded atleast.
RoadStar:
“There is clearly a direct link between the very uneven nature of distribution of resources and the rising level of violence,” Mr. Sanusi told the Financial Times in an interview, arguing that it was now necessary to focus funds on regenerating other regions if Nigeria wants to secure long-term stability.

@Jarus, some of us have jobs and in my own time I will go through all your write-ups but one small favour, in your words and interpretation, did Sanusi make the above comments in an interview with FT and if he did what is your own interpretation of the statement ?
i av gone thru ur replies but it i can't see any direct answer.

afam4eva:
One person says it's based on land mass and another person says it's based on population. Which one are we going to believe?

And who says the south-east is the least populated place? I guess this is one of the gimmicks used to victimize the SE.
its a combination of both, u don't priortize two state with equal land mass but with different  population equally. Lagos has a small land mass but the highest population density. The whole aim is to impact the people more
PoliticsRe: South East Gets Lowest Allocations Compared With to the North, Why? by sheyguy: 6:56pm On Feb 16, 2012
afam4eva:
It should be about population and not land mass. How do you allocate money for land that is occupied by forests and animals. And why are oil states such as Abia, Edo and Cross river in the bottom of the pecking order?

I think every state should be allowed to control it's resources.
they av to budget more for states with larger land mass be it forest or not because linking two points or locations with roads network will require more KM or lengthier roads to be tarred which in turn cost more money.
Also for health and education, more schools and hospital need to be built across such land mass to aid their accessibility.
As for the oil producing states u mentioned, the oil revenue allocation is calculate by what each state contributes i.e 13% of total contribution from onshore oil pumped out each state.

I was expecting him to support it. If one Azikiwe has made a mistake in joining it (NIGER AREA) together i expect another to correct it.

EducationRe: Abu Zaria The Most Corupt Varsity In Nigeria by sheyguy: 8:50am On Feb 16, 2012
That's the reality of most Nigerian unis. I was thinking with the kind of score of the student in question, he shld be one of the few ones they will retain and allow to excel. Such a student are the ones u expect to make good grades, probably a first class.

PoliticsRe: Clinton: Poverty Helping Fuel Violence In Nigeria by sheyguy: 9:42pm On Feb 15, 2012
Jarus, i think what SLS and Clinton said r different.
I also don't totally agree with clinton on this. Violence is poverty driven most times, but in northern Nigeria's case it is 90% hate/illiteracy driven and less than 10% poverty driven.
PoliticsRe: Cbn Explains Kano Donation by sheyguy: 7:38pm On Feb 15, 2012
Even though i don't agree with SLS donation, the uproar which has gradually taken an ethnic dimension has given him a cheap clue on what he must do to calm down the nerves of certain group of pple.
Some important questions i was hoping to get answer to are:
who among the CBN board first suggested Kano as the beneficiary?
Was the Kano victims intended to be the only beneficiary of CBN's donation?
Did SLS av any intention to donate to madalla victims b4 the uproar or is he using the backlash as a guide to calm things down.
Did he really attempt to met with church head in madalla for donation?
I think the moment the Falanas and Ohanezes started challenging the CBN governor and complaining immediate after his donation, the man got a clue as to what his next step was going to be.
