It depends on who is asking. What is your personal understanding of what a recession means?

lexy2014:
can you explain to me how looting caused recession in 2015?
PoliticsRe: Voting Tinubu, One Of My Regrets In over 50 years of my life - Dipo Bello by Shikena(m): 7:36pm On Aug 21, 2024
Did you see "COPIED" at the top of the post or you are one of those that can only read and write with inability to comprehend?

Talking about comprehension, are you disputing these documented quotes or you simply assume you now the realities of the management of Nigeria's economy better than these people from your bedroom?

Factors that typically lead to a recession historically stretches back up to 2 or more years before the actual recession. Again, read through the words of key actors on events prior to Nigeria's recession:

QUOTES THAT WE FORGOT

"Over 20 billion dollars unremitted to the Federation account, and if nothing is done by 2015 upward, Nigeria will know what economic crisis is" - Emir Sanusi Lamido Sanusi

"Whoever wins 2015 will NEVER find it easy to govern. Over 30 trillion is mismanaged, unaccounted for or missing under Jonathan." - Prof Charles Soludo

"Our reserve is depleted and our savings are squandered. Our nation is in trouble." - Dr Oby Ezekwesili

"For seven months, NNPC did not remit any money into federation account. When I called as a sitting governor and major oil producing state, Deziani Alison Madueke refused to pick my calls." - Godswill Akpabio

"I told them to save ahead of eventualities but Jonathan had no political will to do so and this is the reason why we are in crisis, because we squandered our boom." - Okonjo Iweala*

"Okonjo-Iweala, Sanusi urged us to save but we state Governors refused to save for the unseen future during the tenure of Goodluck Jonathan, despite warning from economic experts. I was the only governor who supported the CBN governors advise." - Peter Obi

"Jonathan is a blessed ATM machine that doesn't have secret pin number" - Bala Mohammed

Believeintruth:
It is a big lie that people looted Nigeria into recession. SLS couldn't even provide a substantive figure that was looted by NNPC, he was always changing figures. The recession started in 2016 and it was clearly due to Buhari's wrong policies. Do not make excuses for Tinubu's failure let thunder not strike you.

Stop mocking God. Go get a job, contribute meaningfully to the society, earn a voice that people can listen to with respect, and influence people to embrace the gospel through your personal life. Action in terms of productivity speaks louder than screaming to nobody at 4:00AM, where is the divine wisdom?

==== COPIED =====

On APC - PDP - LP etc

APC (formed by different groups including PDP defectors) has been a disaster but lest we forget, under PDP below was our experience in less than 5 years. Not to talk of Obasanjo/Atiku's period, Buhari's period with rogue cabal & family members, all our State Governors over the years etc. We have a deep rooted problem as a system:

1. I acted based on Jonathan's instruction - Dasuki
2. I didn't give order - Jonathan
3. I collected 350M from Dasuki for consultation - Iyorchia Ayu
4. I only collected $30,000 from Dasuki not N100m - Bode George
5. I got N4.6b from Dasuki for spiritual purposes - Bafarawa
6. I got N650M from Dasuki for my Abuja burnt office - Thisday Obaigbena.
7. I got N2.1b from Dasuki for publicity - Dokpesi
8. I got another N100m from Yuguda he didn't tell me from where - Bafarawa.
9. I gave N100m each to Odili, Jim Nwobodo Bode George and others - Yuguda
10. The president asked me to change N10B to foreign currency for PDP delegates - Dasuki
11. My boss asked me to get $11M from the CBN - Dasuki's account officer.
12. I got order from above to pay Tompolo N13B for Maritime university land. - Nimasa DG.
13. 950m was shared in my house -- Shekarau

With all this looting and many more revealed, some people are still shouting no sign of change yet, they even say it's political persecution.

There must be consequences for such crimes otherwise Nigeria will not develop.

* Tompolo was paid 13Billion!
* Ex-CDS, Alex Badeh dug a pit toilet to hide $32m.
* Patience Jonathan is claiming $31m, she has sued the Nigerian state.
* Femi Fani-Kayode took 740M.
* Dasuki used trucks to load over $35B from the CBN.
* Olisa Metuh took 400M.
* Aziboala, GEJ's cousin took 6B naira.
* Nenadi Usman took 3.5B naira.
* Fayose took 3B naira.
* Obanikoro took 4Billion naira.
* Olu Falae took 100M naira.

*Bode-George and Dabo -100B naira
* Jolly Nyame-2.4B naira.
* Joshua Dariye-700M naira.
* Nyesom Wike stole #4b.
* Diezani with $20 billion missing oil money?

15 billon dollars missing from arms fund, 10 billion naira, converted to dollars and given as gift to delegates of PDP National convention, Bafarawa collected 3 billion for spiritual purposes, 12.7 billon naira for retired NEPA staff grew wings and disappeared, 20 billion dollars missing from NNPC accounts, 23 billion naira as bribe to INEC staffs to rig the general election. The list is endless. They only left what they can't carry or unable to lay their hands on.

The list continues.....
Recession didn't just happen in 2015, people looted Nigeria into recession. We recovered, then Covid-19 came. Most nations of the world are still dealing with that till today.

💥When Atiku said that he would remove fuel subsidy if elected president, 6,984,520 Nigerians voted for him.

💥When Obi said that he would remove fuel subsidy if elected president, 6,101,533 Nigerians voted for him.

💥When Kwankwaso said that he would remove fuel subsidy if elected president, 1,496,687 Nigerians voted for him.

💥And when Tinubu said that he would remove fuel subsidy if elected, 8,794,726 Nigerians voted for him.

Everyone who voted in the last election wanted fuel subsidy removed.

Therefore, this SUBSIDY removal was our collective decision, and if you don’t want to look more clownish, very unserious, and unreasonable, you should just accept this fact and hold your peace.

Our past actions have consequences, we can only delay it, but there is no escape route and there is no magician. We started borrowing to pay salaries as far back as 2014 right after the biggest oil boom cool

Yes, the hate is real. Some people totally detest any good news about Lagos.

PHAYOL81:
Of course I was looking forward to seeing this a little after I saw the blue line thread. Some haters would go dig up survey that portray the state in bad light and oh yeah, this surfaced. They have nothing to compare with LAGOS so they plan vigorously to destroy the state or talk bad about her every opportunity they get.
TravelRe: The World's Least Livable Cities In 2024. by Shikena(m): 9:56am On Aug 21, 2024
Practically every state in Nigeria collapsed with hopes dashed during IBB/Abacha years. Those were the years of "brain drain" and "Andrew checking out" long before today's "japa".

Lagos was the only realistic alternative for those who couldn't check out. Those who lived in then serene places like Festac Town, 1004 axis of Victoria Island, outer mainland & other parts of Lagos from Surulere spread outwards witnessed rapid deterioration and desecration of city master plan.

Lagos is the biggest victim of Nigerian greed and recklessness. The population of tiny Lagos must have tripled in the past 30 years!

People should demand more from their state governors in terms of real sustsinable development.

Kobojunkie:
Lagos was a giant garbage dump/slum, particularly during the Tinubu and early Fashola days. There are still large slums scattered about the state, particularly around the city. undecided

viodemus:
He is. Igbos went mostly to North Carolina, virginia, Boston, New York, Rhode island, Connecticut, Maine , all in the USA the great. This happened from the first year of American slavery. There were already igbo slaves in europe and Brazil, with the spanish and portugese.

One might say why the igbos, my theory and opinion, is that the igbos were fighting the arabs and their African associates, which is why is not many igbo slaves in Asia, india, and middle east, like say yorubas or northerners. Remember, these other tribes were traditionalist like the igbos then, but there were over powered by the arabs and some conquered Africans. Also, the type of fight against the arabs and their conquered blacks, was a type of fight that the igbos were familiar with, which was bow and arrow, hand tools, and hand to hand combat. The arabs used horses, which the igbos didn't see as a useful war tool, the igbos were gorilla fighters. Their feet touch the ground or they fight on trees, and other natural elements. Just like the other Africans in the east, central, and south africa, even some west Africans.

in the last 800 years, the igbos have fought the arabs, and then the europeans that came with guns and cannons. Also, the inter fighting against other surrounding tribes.

The igbos survived the trip in harsh conditions more than other non muslim tribes. The igbos were very populated, over 80 million then. Spread across africa. Igbos were fighting the arabs and pushing the line that even now, some of those igbo settlements have evolved to.other tribes in other parts of africa, from kenya to angola, to sa. Over 50 million igbos sold, died in the waters or detainment, etc.

The igbos were the farmers, very good metal forgers, very good hunters, very good with trees, very rugged willing warriors. So, the igbos use to go far and wide to defend themselves and africa all over Africa, until european slavery. Some of our real kings were kpaied by the europeans when they fiercely fought their way to any community, - they will kpai the king, and enslave his families, kpai or enslave his guards and the army of that area, then enslave the people, while they fought, the neighboring community will flee, knowing that the aggressors had weapons they couldn't figure out how to counter these weapons.

Not knowing how to figure out the attackers, the igbos resorted to fleeing, some who migrated couldn't come back, so, most were caught as slaves by either arabs, islamic africans, and europeans. These people blocked some of the igbos from coming back, so many of them had to band together, hide their identity, and then try to survive to the unknown future.

In the beginning of american and Caribbean history, especially Jamaica, Guyana, Barbados, and Trinidad. Matter of fact, the whole island, igbos were the most populated, remember how many times igbo speaking slaves kpaied their masters, organized themselves and moved to other islands, even from americas. In early 1800, Europeans started deliberately not selling slaves to people from the same area and language.

The 1400, 1500, 1600, igbo kings, had their families taken as slaves to the caribbeans and Americas. including the communities and armies, POWs.

In summary, buju didn't lie. Most of them are us by tribe, with others being igbo mix , snd other tribes in africa.

In 1923 or 28, when Nnamdi Azikiwe went did stow away to Ghana, thinking he was going to America, as he walked away from the port trying to figure out what next to do, he met some people discussing in igbo on the street, that is how he was guided and housed, and later became a police or traffic police there.

The igbo nation is truly unique and large. Our pains for almost 800 years, has become one of our valuable lessons in various aspects of life. Our shame has become some of our glory.

The igbo tribe is the largest tribe in Africa. In terms of one to one tribes. Of course, we are all Africans. And in 2000 years ago, the igbos were the igbos. I think the igbo tribe used to be called the bantu tribe, a little ove 2000 years ago. The igbos, bantu, are great people.
Igbos, the bantu are mostly jews.

Yup, in addition you unconsciously acquire huge academic and technical adaptability and flexibility.

You could study engineering, get bored with it then easily (keyword: easily) switch to medicine, law, pharmacy, accounting, software development, etc. This is not a case of just one or two special breeds doing that, engineering just make it easy to do that and it's just too common. Now, try switching to engineering from another field grin

obonujoker:
Engineering is actually the most relevant course to study in the world.

Civil
Mechanical
Electrical
Agriculture
Chemical
Safety

The world cannot do without these disciplines.

Even when you study these courses, you'd be happy and glad, even if you don't have a job yet, but there will be fulfillment in you.

You'd always grow and develop in Engineering. You are not limited to one line of thought.

Stop it o but some people love calling color blue color red as long as it suits them. Universities and polytechnics serve different purposes, and frankly only a craze person would choose a polytechnic over a university given that choice. It doesn't change the fact that many top university-level people will go to the polytechnic and excel in their future roles, that still won't make a polytechnic a university grin
