yommen: Do you actually mean that majority of Nairalanders speak bad English? I don't accept it if your answer is a 'yes'. By the way, you probably contribute to the bad English. Not ending your first sentence with a full stop is bad English! Period button on keyboard is not working If you take a look at my posts in the last two weeks, you will hardly see a period sign (I would need to bang the keyboard to get a period sign However the next sentence is started with a capital letter In another news, I wrote my IELTS and scored high enough to emigrate

airsaylongcome: So on average does a Nigerian get 8.0? If we don't them haven't we failed it? Not exactly. Two provinces in Canada , for example, will accept 6.5 if one has a close relative residing in the province. The other provinces require at least an 8.0 However, the objective I am in support of is the extension of the validity of the certificate and possible reduction in cost. |

CUMIN: Those that want it removed are those that had failed it several times.
The paradox is that if you are truly proficient in English, you should ace it in first trial. Actually many Nigerians ace it the first time An overall score of 6.5 is a pass however anything less than an overall score of 8.0 cannot help during the immigration process. |

I think the petition should be tweaked to prolong the validity of the certificate and not to ask that Nigerians stop writing the exam
If the council decides to use Nairaland as part of the study to decide if Nigeria meets the requirements to be taken off the list, we will not make it. |

ViperAda: There is no difference between southeast and Afghanistan where women are segregated from the men. Women are not allowed a seat, much less a chance to talk in the midst of the men during the patriarchal umunna clan meeting. Ibo women can not be more thankful for the liberty they so much enjoy in other regions as a relief from unpleasant realities which they go through in the backwaters of Southeast region. Ibo women are an endangered species which the law of the country is making an effort at safeguarding from going extinct.
-Viper Sir, this is a very simple request. I googled your statements. I did not see anything to substantiate. In that case the burden of proof is on you.May I have a link to investigate this. "Ibo women are an endangered species which the law of the country is making an effort at safeguarding from going extinct." From the news I have been reading on Nairaland, I can send links are the endangered women are in the North and Plateau state, I would call them endangered due to the herdsmen crisis. I can show the news links. Please show me your links for your statements |

They like to lick the ass of their white masters too much Coon is a contemptuous term for a black person. Are you saying Igbos are the only black people in Africa. You accuse a set of people of as*-licking whites yet you claim that the whole of Africa except Igbos are white. Smdh To reiterate: All west, east and South Africans are black and would be termed "coons" by a racist white person. I don't know why you a black person will use the word "coon" on another person who is as African as you are |

Almunjid: Igbos neutral? Do u know the meaning of neutral at all? Lol U can't benefit from igbos, but they want to benefit from u. They're selfish. Their relationship with other tribes outside igbo land is OK (and that's y they get high positions in some states in South and North), but their relationship with other tribes doing business in their own land is always very poor that's y Hausa and Yoruba will hardly get any political appointment or high position in igbo land. That's the real definition of selfishness. Neutral : an impartial or unbiased country or person. How long did you live in a Igbo state to come to this conclusion? Do you personally know any Hausa and Yoruba person who wanted but did not get a political appointment in an Igbo state? Please send me a link of news about an Igbo person that got a political appointment in any of the Northern states. Thank you |

That is another way of saying the Igbo man is neutral. That is my belief, it may not be true. The Igbo may actually be in good terms with others, but I have no source YET to prove that or otherwise, that is why I choose a neutral stance. However all those marriage examples cannot be disregarded.

ViperAda: Why are the ibos plaqued with low self-esteem such that they seek needless validation from anywhere possible?
Are there no blue blooded, thorough bred Anambra women who can be appointed to serve the state?. Bianca was denied the chance to pick up a ticket to serve just because she was only married to Ojukwu, therefore considered unfit to represent Anambra in any capacity. But a foreign woman with a white skin is hypocritically being mooted as deserving of an appointment to serve over an average Anambra woman who is looked down upon as a slave. Little wonder ibo women are an object of oppression, humiliation and dehumanization in their marital homes.

Almunjid: Africans love "whites" more than their own kind. All ur points hold no water. Tell me one African who was given a position in America or Europe just because he/she was married to a white man or woman. This is inferiority complex. Admit it. Africans' problem is that we love white men more than they love us and the love we have for them is not reciprocated. The same love and inferiority complex made igbo people to keep sending their children to white man's land (obodo oyibo) and they were turned into slaves and treated like animals. I'm not saying igbos should do the same to them. But we should learn to love our own kind first. There are Igbos holding big positions (high offices) in the North and South west. How many Hausas and Yorubas holding high positions in the East? Igbos are not in good terms with almost all tribes in Nigeria. Let them start by strengthening their relationship with their fellow Nigerians, Africans and later they can talk of white men.
Peace! Don't let social media especially Nairaland deceive you that Igbos are not in good terms with fellow Nigerians. The truth is money is in good terms with money. The people who are not in good terms with each other are those hurting economically no matter the tribe.
Hunger/poverty is not in good terms with HungerDid you see that Abba Kyari attended Obi Cubana's mother's burial? Did Lola Okoye tell you she has a problem with her Igbo husband? Did AY tell you that he is not in good terms with his Igbo wife? Is Joseph Yobo not in good terms with Adaeze Yobo (an Igbo girl)? Just so you know. all your governors and politicians regardless of tribe are in good terms with each other. After quarrelling in the news, the members of Arewa consultative forum and Ohaneze will go out and laugh at the common Nigerian over bottles of beer and wine. I believe that the average Igbo man is not in terms (good or bad) with anyone. He just wants to do business and go back home safely. You also forgot to include the source/link for your assertion about Igbo men wanting white wives. Could you paste that? |

KanoFirstSon: Why no comment? Igbos and hypocrisy and their worship for the white man or anything white. Never seen a tribe with such high inferiority complex. Down to marriage sef,Majority of igbo men aspire to marry a white lady.it even boils down to hunting for very fair Nigerian girls. So there are no other women married to Nigeria men that can be recommended for any political position in Anambra? Is it because na oyinbo woman? What if the was a sweet black Kenyan or a Malawian? Should they have recommended her? See the way una inferiority complex dey ooze like ogiri. Ikon Allah Calm down bro. No need for name calling. You can make a post without gross insults and get your point out Now in my opinion, I think she should be given the position. My reasons are these: 1. This lady comes from a wealthy european nation: there is zero incentive to use her position to steal 2: She has successfully portrayed a healthy image of the Igbo nation for many years. If a sweet black Kenyan or Malawian had done this, I would also think they should be nominated for the position Concerning the aspiration of Nigerian men to marry white women, there is no link to support your position. If there is, please show us the link. However there are links showing that Nigerian men prefer to marry FOREIGN women. Please note that not all foreign women are white. Foreign women can even be Togolese or Ghanaian. |

NovesaTillie: Please I need only matured minds on this. Should I accept his proposal? Are you a christian? Then No! John the Baptist was killed because he kept telling Herod that it is not lawful for you to have your brother's wife even though Herod had divorced his wife and Herodias had divorced her husband, they were off bounds to each other. If your sister still lives divorced or not it is not lawful for you to have your sister's husband. God is not an author of confusión. |

Great advice.
I would also ask that young, unmarried be VERY careful. Fear the institution of marriage. Do not jump in. Go in soberly. Attend at least a year of marriage counselling before delving into marriage. It is for life.
For Christians, see below. It is better to be single for a VERY long time and take your time.
