lavamaestro: Based on what you wrote, it seems your ex didn't leave you just based on just this budget. It might have been your past behaviors with this topping the bottle. I won't say I'm a feminist but one thing I have always hammered on is equality. There is no problem with you wanting to share bills but bear in mind that you are not getting married to yourself. It's not just your home, it's the both of you home. In everything, wisdom is key. The first thing you should have done is making that list together. You seem to be someone who feels your opinions and ideas are superior to her's hence the reason you decided to sit down alone and make a list of both your futures. It's really funny you did it alone, I mean, this is coming from a guy who wants equal or at least, almost equal contribution. She was supposed to be a life partner so you should have sat down together for the list.
Secondly, with this list, it won't be a problem when you are comfortable with designated house chores for you. It shouldn't be a problem if she gives you say for instance, the duty of cleaning the house and taking the kids to school while she does everything else. Bear in mind that you will clean after yourself and wash your clothes. And after birthing the children, provision for her to get her body back in terms of money should be like an equal answer to her carrying a child for nine months and going through excruciating pains to birth it out. I mean, it's both your children. Since you want partnership, why should she be the only one in the business of losing just to bring forth a child? If you see no problem with this, then you are not a selfish person after all.
I shake my head at the generation of youth we have today. Shameful, if you ask me. Most women don't want to provide and also don't want to take care of the home and the kids. Most men want to be relieved of the burden of providing but also don't want to help out in house chores and childcare. If everyone relegates their duties to the others, who then will do it?
I also saw your comment that you are scared of going for a lady with higher income because of how her attitude might be. Money makes one proud. It takes grace and humility to submit to anyone that earns as much or higher than you do. The lack of money was what made women of the past docile. These days, with women making it for themselves without the need to depend on a man, that respect you crave as the head of house would be hard to get. I for one will not bow or submit to a man just because he is a man if I earn a lot. You may have lost this relationship but use it to reflect on what I said. If house chores were easy, it won't be an occupation that pays. If you can equally take in any chore given to you, then your list would make more sense. Also, if you find a woman with higher income, take the lack of submission if there is as a cup of tea that comes with it. You are absolutely brilliant! |

OP should make his financial plan by percentage.
The girl provides 40% of her salary and he provides 60% of his salary. Plan with that. Whatever that money cannot buy leave it
Scrap the vacation idea. Someone earning 80k should NOT be thinking of going on vacation. |

RepoMan007: You mean manufacturing needs stupidity more than intelligence? Why aren't we manufacturing capital already then? Manufacturing at the lowest level (not design thinking stage) doesn't need intelligence. Just follow instructions. I really dont know but I notice that for some reasons business as a foreigner in Nigeria seems to be easier. Somehow everyone including rhe government feels than a foreign firm or a Nigeria firm partnering with a foreign firm can be trusted more |

COMPAQ: I disagree cos what the world manufactures most these days have some form of chips or electronics in it that requires a better brain these days. The days of manufacturing industrial goods are almost over. These days the biggest manufacturing is phones, chips, and so on. Everything has circuitry these days to connect to the internet such as ac, fridge, microwave, freezer, tv, smart speakers, gaming consoles, phones, even bulbs etc. not the dumb products of yesteryear. Not stuff you want to entrust to an idiot to manufacture cos the stakes are high. Besides like I said the choice of manufacturing is beyond labor. Lack of electricity is enough to disqualify Nigeria when compared to Ghana or Ivory Coast. They are not bringing the biggest manufacturing to Africa. Why would they? So that Africa can be greater than China? They are not bringing high-tech stuff because they know we can exhibit intelligence sometimes, so they will manufacture plasticky, wood and ceramic stuff so that the average African will just have a low-paying job. But it will be a job non-the-less. The chinese will always be the supervisors of each team in a plant, but at least graduates will have a hope of getting a (not very good) job after school rather than staying home for 7 years

COMPAQ: I like your enthusiasm, unfortunately it is very much misplaced. Companies want an environment with good infrastructure to manufacture (electricity, ports, transportation network, rule of law, judicial fairness, airports, exchange rate stability etc) and Nigeria has none of these! Also our youth are literate but companies need more than that. They need well educated and we don’t have that unfortunately. A primary 6 person from US, is mentally sharper and more aware than a ss3 student from here, cos our education doesn’t encourage thinking - just cramming and passing exams. No application. There are many countries in Africa that will attract the so called billions from Amazon and co such as Ghana, SA, Rwanda, Morocco, Egypt, Kenya before Nigeria. Manufacturing doesn't need thought or intelligence at the lowest point (which is what they are bringing to Africa). Design thinking will surely remain in China. From his theory, the average Nigerian will have an underpaying labour intensive job, but for starters it will be a job. We have a 33.3% unemployment rate and hopefully with many youths employed (sub optimally) they will be able to afford just the basic necessities of life. According to Marslow's theory, it is only after a person has food and shelter that they can apply their brains. The Chinese will help fulfil the first stage in Africa. Whether we will rise beyond that stage is what I know not

rentAcock: Even if Naira drops to N4000/$, I will continue to believe in this country because I can see what's coming. The wise are heavily investing in Nigeria while the weak are looking for how to go abroad. The whole world is tired of China, they are looking for cheap labor, Nigeria is the next China. We have the population, the youth and the literacy level to be the next manufacturing power. Plus, several countries that benefited from slavery (U.S, UK, Spain and Portugal) have proposed ways to pay back Africans for all the abuse, exploitations throughout our history. There is a conscious effort to make Africa the next industrial hub. Those lacking foresight won't see this, they only see the now and not the later. Ignore the noise and look for a small factory you can start; In the next 5yrs all the big multinational companies like Amazon, Walmart and co will be pouring billions into our infrastructure just to enable us to manufacture goods for them. So many people will miss this boat, but you are hearing this now, act on it. I was going to argue about this, but I always research before starting an argument. You are absolutely right, however the conscious effort to transform Africa is not from the US, UK, Spain or Portugal. Its all from Asia. Well done. Some of us need to start pointing our kids in the direction of Africa

TheNoble007: You don't have to worry about this... The probability of a so called white skinned man to 'wife' or get coupled to a black skinned lady or of African descent is perhaps 1/100000. The racism is very strong. Its not. At least not in Canada. Racism isn't strong here and its not uncommon to see a very dark african lady and a caucasian. The darker the better. |

J3susFr3ak: Then there should be made a very firm Police rule which can be turned into law that any Police person without a functioning Bodycam should have no legal basis confronting or challenging a civilian. Any civilian has the rights to request to see the Police person's ID and also confirm if the Bodycam's light indicator is on--to show every speech is recorded live.
The IT company monitoring the Bodycams remotely can tell when the device is switched off and then proceed to file a report on the erring officer.
Lots of ways to checkmate these rogues.... But their heads do not want to checkmate them. This policemen do not get up to 50% of their proceeds from armed robbery/ checkpoint theft . They submit a major portion of it to their higher-ups. |

That act was very sinister.
Imagine someone coming all the way from the North to the south with N100 kept in an envelope to deliver to a person. Something is about to happen somewhere
Advice to all: Do not collect widow's mite from anyone. Widow's mite should go to the church/mosque/orphanage. Let God bless the giver himself. Don't let someone use you as their luck! |

Saturn444: You and I are saying the same thing. The black man will not be given the citizenship because he does not belong there naturally. And Nigeria is not ready for diaspora return, because diasporans are not ready to build their home for their return. And the Nigerians and Africans living in the continent think going away will give them eternal happiness.
When we fix Africa, a black man will have a home, until then only the blacks who know the truth about why they were lodged in this tough stable ground will govern the elements and enjoy the protection of our ancestor Alien Gods.
No very comfortable Nigerian can live abroad. I agree:The average Nigerian wants to return home. I once told my community that I wanted to return and start something. Within 10 minutes, I was sent several obituary posters. What happened,? The posters were relatives of people in my community who had gone back to Nigeria, gotten identified as returnees and murdered. About 5 were murdered by policemen, some by their kinsmen. I love Nigeria but I am not ready to die yet because I want to see something good come out of Nigeria. I know that there are people who went back and succeeded but its a 50/50 chance. |

Saturn444: Is it your wife's nagging and compulsive idea that you relocate to Ireland?
As a man, you need more understanding of the nature of the Universe. Every continent has a particular species of humans designed for that patch on the plane of human existence over the animals.
Africa is a continent designed for the Black race of human species. You are to develop it for the future generations of all blacks, otherwise you will never feel homely in any other patch on Earth. Even black Americans, so called Niggas, will feel more at home living in Africa.
Fix your patch and live like a king in it. Every black human living permanently on another continent is a mental slave, irrespective of the money structure. Every white man living permanently in Africa can not exhibit his full potential without feeling like he is threatening the black population.
Learn this core truth, and know peace. What are you saying? The man is in the middle east. Even if he works for them for the next 2000 years he will not be given a citizenship. Nigeria is also not ready for diaspora return |

Babaisha: Hi great people,
I have been a guest reader on this platform for many years and I have seen people provide great insight on issues thrown out on the platform.
Please I need a guide on the best path to relocate my family to Ireland.
We are a family of 6 and I have been working in the middle east for the past 16years, my family has been here with me for more than 10years.
I am planning to relocate my family to Europe, Republic of Ireland to be precise as I am in-love with the family orientation in the country and it is an English country.
My wife has a diploma from Nigerian Polytechnic and I am looking at the possibility of her and our four kids relocating to Ireland while I stay back in the middle East. I, personally earn better here and not thinking of relocating but will be visiting my family routinely.
For people that are already living in Ireland, could you guide us on the best way to achieve this and any risk or challenge to expect especially on the two listed below.
a) Have heard going through school route is a viable options which I am willing to explore for my wife, I am concerned if the country will be able to give my kids visa too to join their mother while she study.
b) Also what would child care/nanny support be like for a mother of 4 (kids age 11, 9, 7 and 4), heard it is expensive in Ireland, what is the possibility of having my mother-in-law stay with them to provide child care and save that extra cost.
Thank you Hello OP, the best method would be for your wife to study something in IT or healthcare. If you have the funds all of your children will be allowed to go along with their mother I doubt that your mother will be allowed to join them if you let them know she is coming to take care of the kids Simply apply for a 6-month visit visa and then a 2-year visa because cost of hiring a nanny is about 11-18 Euros per hour. |
