Chairwoman:
Thanks for your response Shokoloko, I appreciate it a lot.
That's quite expensive, imagine having to pay such a huge amount of money for a nanny or daycare, I shouldn't have converted it naira grin.
Omor, the money is huge.
I will be relocating to Saskatchewan, University of Regina to be precise, I would love to go with my spouse and all my kids so that it will be easier to adapt to the new environment and save the cost of paying for childcare but applying for my husband and all my kids might influence immigration's decision to grant me the study visa/permit. However, I want to take the risk and apply for all of us to go together.
Also, do you know anyone that has been successful in getting a study permit while including spouse? Thanks. smiley
I don't know any one who included a spouse and got a study permit. I do know a lot of people who got the study permit went over and after two weeks applied to have their families come over citing inability to concentrate due to missing family members. Go check the Canada Student visa thread and find out what others are doing.

Ebukawaylaid:
Good morning Ladies and gentle men.
This morning, I got a call from my younger sister telling me that she has seen her WAEC Results. However, the tone of her voice was somehow not good. I suspected that something was wrong... I saw the results finally and here are are grades

Christian Religious Studies - E8
Economics - F9
Government - C5
Literature-in- English - C6
Civic Education - E8
English Language - D7
Yoruba - C4
Mathematics - B3
Catering Craft practice - F9

Please, help me advice her on which course she can study in the university with this WAEC results.
Mods , please I will appreciate if it is moved to front page for more advice. Thanks
While she did not do well in English, her C's and D's show a slight aptitude for languages which can be developed.
I would either suggest a rewrite or see if she can study French. Hopefully if she puts in the effort, her knowledge of two languages, French and English will open doors for migration and opportunities to work as a translator or in embassies.

Now even if the OP's situation is not real, an advice to anyone reading French: YOU ARE STUDYING A COURSE WITH A LOT OF POTENTIAL> Use it wisely

She left the school because of one randy lecturer?
She should have sent a petition against him to the school management via anti- harassment servicom.
About 15 - 20 years ago, anti-harassment servicom either did not exist or was not functional. We wrote to the school management, involved the Dean and VC and then the real harassment started. Her exam papers from a couple of other lecturers (in solidarity with him) started getting missing. Even the Dean, SEET could not find the papers. He kept urging for a peaceful resolution. But Remi Uche rejected every non-sexual compensation - money, gifts.
We actually didn't know what to do.

I've been thinking strongly of relocating these past couple years and I've made up mind I'm going for it in 2022.

I'm awaiting my IELTS result already and will redo if needed.

A little bio
31 years with about 8 years professional experience in Agric, top tier companies, married with 1 child and expecting one by June next year. I'll be able to come up with #5million for this project.

3 options on my mind.

1. Canada skilled migration
2. Australian skilled migration
3. Post graduate in Germany.

I've breezed through their pages but there's so much information to consume and so right now, I want to make a reasonable choice I can follow through to the end.

Which option do I have/has the best prospects for me please. I've thought of USA post graduate but the tuitions are just too high.

Thanks
Follow ednut's advise. I'll add to it. For that Canadian express entry, search out Provincial nominations. Also and see if using your wife as the principal applicant will make it easier as she is likely to be the younger of you both.
Do not worry so much about the cost, if you fill your scores are high enough, start the journey. You wont need to pay the price in bulk. And for the Proof of funds, there are many ways to kill a cat which you will find out if you read those threads.

Greetings, good people of Nairaland

Please I need a piece of honest advice from experienced nairalanders, I am a Software Engineer, I got an offer from a very close friend (He is like a brother to me) of mine that resides in Dubai to come and manage a club he co-owns to enable him time for other activities. I will need to learn how nightclubs operate since I have little or zero knowledge about the nightlife. I have the freedom to pick up side gigs (or remote work) when I can and He is not in any way restricting me but he needs me to learn the business with him.

The plan, in a simple language, when I learn the business well enough he will pull out and open his own so I can be his manager since he doesn't want recognition.

He paid for my flight ticket and was the one that processed the visa for me (tourism) and he is currently working on how my visa can be extended and my work permit too.

Before I came to Dubai, I applied for this opening with a tech firm in Berlin. I completed the last stage here in Dubai and have been sent the offer but I will have to relocate to Germany because the work is on-site, the company bare expenses regards flight ticket, travel insurance, visa process et al. The start salary is 56K euros per annum (gross).

Also, I resigned from a bank as a development specialist (full-time staff not yet confirmed though, was earning 450K naira net with other benefits) prior to my trip to Dubai. I was doing well in Nigeria because I earned a total of up to 800K (with all my works combined) just that the work ethic (the bank work) is toxic to me because you will work your brain out debugging code, plus I am looking at a good place that I can start a family when I am ready and Nigeria is a no for me unless I have enough money to send my kid abroad to study.

What do I do now that I am already in Dubai? I am passionate about tech and I love the echo system. Please any input from experienced fellows will go a long way for me.

Thanks in advance. Mod please help so I can get as much input as possible
Go to Germany. Your journey is a little similar to my sisters - she is a software engineer too.
When you get to Germany, try to cross over to Canada or US (especially Newfoundland Priority Skills, a province in Canada that gives priority and work permits to particular job roles, especially IT).
However if you decide to stay in Germany, that is still awesome.
I am very happy for you.
No matter how much the bank was paying, you cannot compare the peace of mind experienced outside Nigeria

She is not the one needing online validation.

She is under a new management - They have made her lose weight, change wigs, attend events, secure music opening acts, model clothes, opened a fashion line.

Because they are paying her, she must post and come online as much as her management wants.

Someone is definitely profiting off this girl's predicament else something would have been done about her situation.

Cosmetic surgery has advanced to the extent that the victims of burns and injuries like her can look less hideous than she looks. I know for one that face surgeries have gotten better and victims of dog bites and burns get grafting procedures to make them look at least normal.

This girl has been on Ophrah(?) and several shows. She has the needed attention from all the moneybags and women rights organisations in the world, so why haven't they done plastic surgery on her face at least? Reconstructive ones even?

Because someone or she profits off her pity party.

Just like race hustlers who blow out any issue from the racial perspective would be out of business if racial tensions die down.

She isn't the average girl looking for help. Almost seems like her 'selling point' as she continuously reminds us of the incident and never about what she's done professionally or projects or more.

I don't know why victimhood seems very attractive to most people. "Oh! Woe is me!"
She is tired! She wants to take a break from all the surgeries and try to love her body herself, scars and all . This girl probably will be having surgeries for the rest of her life

Jobs/VacanciesRe: Bank Cleaner Or Petrol Attendant , Which One Is Better? by Shokoloko(f):
yemite100:
Dear Nairalanders
I just finish my OND,but I planned going for my HND but there is no helper that could help because my both parents are late, and it is just me and my other siblings and I just manage to have ND.
I planned to get a job so that I can save up little to start my HND.
I have search for job but could not get any, so i just got this opportunity and I want to seek your advice on which one I should go for
The bank Cleaner is 17k per month and I will spend #200 daily for transport, the petrol attendant is just few kilometer to where we stay and the basic salary is just 10,000,and #150 for feeding daily.
I am just a bit confused on which one I can choose.
Please no insult, I just need advice...
Thanks.
If you decide to become the bank cleaner (until you get something better), once you get there see how you can start to wash cars for the older men and women with cars (they pay better) find out how you can make yourself useful to them.
When I was still in the bank there was a woman (cleaner) I loved so much that I engaged her to cook for me during the weekend and apart from what I paid her, she went home with a pot of soup.
When I left the country I asked her to start cooking for my parents. She was so good that the manager gifted her N50k one day. One of the cleaner guys was the one that used to drive me to my village every month to visit orphanages.
So if you decide to be a cleaner, shine your eyes.
Bankers love to wear clothes, introduce several tailors to the bank staff and get a commission on any thing they sew. Don't be too greedy: N200 - N300 commission per garment is okay
Do you have younger sisters? Can they make hair for the bank ladies? Can they go to market for them? Can they make small chops that the bankers can eat in their cubicle?

Please try to study the character of the staff before helping. As some people have pointed out, some staff are kind but some will want to take advantage of you

Hi Shokoloko, I went through your posts and noticed that you live in Canada with your family, I'll be going there too myself on a study visa but I have three kids (one of them is a baby)...I just want to know if I would find it easy to go to a new land where I don't know anyone for the first time...I haven't applied for the visa yet, I just want to get an insight from you...I would really appreciate a quick reply, as it might influence my decision. Hello sis, childcare is VERRRY expensive. You will not find it easy. In Eastern Canada child care is minimum $50 per day for children that are not yet in school. In Alberta childcare should be much cheaper (perhaps $35 per day), but I do not see how working 20 hours a week (which is the minimum number of hours that an international student can work) can pay for childcare. Note that private baby sitters charge at least minimum wage which is $15/hour.

In summary a spouse/partner is needed to help with childcare. I know that Asian women sometimes go as a group, rent a large home and take turns to care for all the kids at home while they school.

But I do not like to discourage people from coming here because this country is beautiful: can you tell me what part of Canada you are interested in?

Did you read the first paragraph of the article, you fool?

My last response to you.
Do you have a reference stating that African women practice low levels of breast feeding (not EXCLUSIVE breast feeding)

If your comment was African women do not practice exclusive breastfeeding long enough, you will see a lot of claims online that agree with that. I MIGHT even agree with that.

But your claim was "africans don't breastfeed long enough"

Toks2008:
If you watch Nollywood films you will understand why I wrote that.

It usually depicts chaos and strife in polygamous homes but it is not that way in majority of polygamous homes...

And these days men don't put wives together.. They have their seperate abodes and some don't even see each other for as long as the man lives and they only get to see on very rare occasions.

Ask some sugar daddies and they will tell you how many side chics they have in different apartments and their wives have no single Clue.
You know my great grand father did this method. It worked well until he died and it was time to share the properties. Very violent sibling rivalry among the children of the different wives sprung up from nowhere. It was not a question of equal sharing because some believed that the wives with the highest number of boys should inherit more, some said it was the first wives children to inherit more, some said it was the woman with the most children whether boy or girl.
They were not interested in the will (whether it was written or not). Different factions were applying different laws of the land.

In that case, what solution do you proffer for a man to avoid this situation after his death? And for a woman to ensure that her children are not dragged into this property menace?
