I never believe one sided stories,so the man's side must be heard. The daughter's story of being beaten holds no water to me. Nigerian Parents correct and discipline their wards all the time. I'm more worried about the spousal abuse.

Stop paying her school fees? The damage the lady has reported is terrible. To her body, mind, psyche. The person who should be protecting her is the one abandoning her to whatever fate befalls her. He doesn't care what the outcome might be.

Please, that's child abuse of the highest order. The man should be invited for questioning by relevant authorities. And prosecuted as well as jailed for gross misconduct and cruelty, child abuse and spousal abuse (domestic abuse).

Where do they get the money to pay? We parents pay school fees 3 times in a year. Whereas, the schools pay staff salaries 12+1 months in a year. At least my children's school does that.

I think states instructing schools to reopen right now are being irresponsible. The numbers are climbing higher, death rates are soaring but they are concerned about completing curriculum? Really?? The number of people dying might just be statistics to some people, but to their family members and loved ones, they are real people. Real people that they know and love. Real people whose absence will be sorely missed. People with plans, dreams, hopes and aspirations.

Immediately schools were closed due to the covid 19 outbreak, I stopped my kids' lesson teachers. I and my spouse have been trying, however insufficient, to help them with their academics at this time.
I cannot be penny wise and pound foolish. I refuse to go out without necessary precautions. I keep my children at home all the time to keep them safe. Then I ask a teacher to come and meet them at home. Where he has gone, whom and what he has been exposed to, I don't know; but I import such danger to my children because of lesson? No way. Wisdom must always prevail over perceived necessity.

From the look of things, here are my thoughts:
1. The wife is one of those who get turned off by sex ( and even the thought of it) in their last trimester.

2. The wife had medical issues in pregnancy towards the end of pregnancy and was advised to avoid sex till after safe delivery. Maybe these medical issues were not properly explained to herself and her husband. Or maybe they were but she didn't/couldn't properly inform her husband. If this is the case, then effective 'Communication' is the problem.

3. As for after delivery. CS is very tough on a woman's body especially if it was an emergency intervention after hours of labour. It often leads to postpartum depression in the mothers.

Postpartum depression is not really well-diagnosed in Nigeria.
A woman is expected to go from being pregnant, to delivery of baby, to being a super mom and wife consecutively. This notion is wrong. New mothers need all the help they can get.

The pains from recovery, the pressure of breast feeding immediately and correctly, sleepless nights and so on. Let me tell you, even changing a diaper becomes a chore after a while.

The woman's got a brand new, little human, that can't talk, to take care of properly. It's a lot to take in for some women, especially first time moms.

OP, hang in there. Talk with her. Ask her about her feelings. Be patient with her. It's going to be alright.
