It's okay @Siga.... @Others your input is welcome. I believe if one commits his way to God, he will bring it to pass. However, we need to work with wisdom, and critically reviewing and analysing some of this may help future applicants.
...if only CDHC would at least invite any questionable applicant for one on one interview....most applicants will convince them, cos this is wat helped me when I did mine and the guy questioned why I was refused the first time....I just wish Canada can just grant Nigeria 48hrs visa exemption....how would that feel? wink
#Mythoughts on the quota issue.
I like to be objective and try to ask why they do what they do.

1. Why would some (don't wanna say 'a few' cos I don't have the stats)applicants have their documents examined and given med invite while others are turned down without even having their docs touched?

2. Why are some later applicants not rejected while earlier applicants are rejected? Does the quota flunctuate or does it get exhausted on a FIFO basis as should be the case?

3. What would be CICs reason for not expressly informing the public about quota? Doesn't America issue statements and charts on quota (you will understand what I mean if u understand the dv lottery process and a few other us visa categories)

Having asked those questions, I remember expressing a feeling (no tangible facts yet) that undergrads almost always have a shorter period of cdhc processing time- I think that CDHC do not have sufficient manpower to review the plethora of applications within the short window before January, and even though they realised this and stopped receiving January applications, they still had accepted more than they had capacity for.
Recall, last year was 'get a new start date from ur school' because they even had some time to begin the review, I think this time, it was almost impossible to review all cases and they gave some 'priority' to undergrads who seemingly need it more urgently.
Woosh, that is my take on it. I welcome any positive and constructive counter opinion.
@Siga what do you think?
...My Oga...I am pretty much done with this quota discussion....I will advise we move on....you have said it very well....only God knows what is going on at CDHC....all Im very sure of is that they are overwhelmed with applications and have limited time to clear their respective desks....
TV/Movies › Veteran Actor Akin Ogungbe, Dies At 78 by Siga(op): 5:56pm On Nov 29, 2012
Veteran Yoruba actor, Akin Ogungbe, died on Wednesday after a brief illness in Ogun State.

He was aged 78.

His son, Segun, an actor, confirmed the incident to our correspondent over the telephone.

The younger Ogungbe said he was on a location when a text message from a family member informed him of his father's death.

He said, ''I think it is the usual thing with old age. He was not sick before he died this morning (Wednesday).''

The older Ogungbe, fondly called Ireke Onibudo, following his role in the movie, also produced Lisabi Agbongbo Akala, a historical play about an Egba warrior.

An actor, Prince Jide Kosoko, said the nation's movie industry had lost “a father, leader of leaders and notable professional.”

He added, ''He led an exemplary life. A lot of people like the late Ishola Ogunshola aka Isho Pepper, Chief Jimoh Aliu, Charles Olumo a.k.a Agbako and the late Afolabi Afolayan popularly known as Jaguar trained under him.'

Also, Chief Jimoh Aliu, popularly called Aworo, described the late Ogungbe as a very good boss who taught him the rudiments of acting.

justwise: That is what your post suggested, if there is a quota as you suggested and colleges and universities still admit foreign students AND the embassy still accept their visa application fees then its fair to say that Canadian schools and their embassy collaborated in the act.
...u know wat...thats ok...heaven knows I pray everyone secure their visas....tx anywaz
Travel › Re: Travelling To Canada Part 3 by Siga: 5:16pm On Nov 29, 2012
justwise: Quota for working permit programs is not new, the UK has the same quota, colleges or universities will not give you admission and accept fees from you if they knew that they are not allowed to admit more foreign students because of quota. That will be fraudulent. If there is anything like quota then students will be refused admission, i don't believe that Canadian colleges and universities are collaborating with their embassy to rip-off foreign students even when they know that they don't stand any chance of getting a visa.

Lets not mislead people into thinking that they have done everything right and still get refused a visa.

justwise: Do you know any period of the year people don't get refused a visa? Do we assumed that from now on that nobody will be given a visa because the this year quota is full?
my able MOD....u kuku have a valid point...its just the trend and reasons for refusal is becoming ridiculous....people get refused throughout the year, but the number of refusal has increased this month alone....now, the Canadian government may not be very specific about this, but I can tell u something...for instance here in Toronto, our Mayor(who was kicked out) complained about Toronto been congested last yr or so...not sure of the yr...and advised against new immigrants moving to Toronto....now, the new CEC program the government now have helps create a pathway to PR for international students and this has a quota...so, they have to control the number of students coming in to be able to maintain the quota for CEC....I may be wrong or right...again, guys need to reapply ....

Believe it or not....quota system do exist...even in a family...Papa and Mama dey agree say na only 2kids dem wan have....but at wat measure do that affect student applications, no one can really tell....Imagine some applicants saying their docs were returned same way they sent them...even with rubberbands and clips they used....they speaks volume....

Politics › Obasanjo Moves To Stop Jonathan In 2015 by Siga(op): 11:27pm On Nov 27, 2012
THE battle for the nation's Presidency in 2015 is getting intense, though the gladiators are not willing to openly declare their interest yet.

A key figure who is working, albeit surreptitiously, to determine who becomes the occupant of Aso Rock in 2015 is former President Olusegun Obasanjo, The Guardian has learnt.

Contrary to the notion that Obasanjo has quit active and local partisan politics for international assignments and diplomacy, the former leader remains a force to reckon with in the 2015 presidency.

The Guardian's investigation shows that Obasanjo may not support President Goodluck Jonathan for re-election in 2015. It was learnt at the weekend that Obasanjo's fund-raiser for a mosque project at his presidential library provided the forum for him to strategise for 2015.

Less than 24 hours after the gathering in Abeokuta, which was attended by some political heavyweights even from the core North, Obasanjo, 72, began a strategic political tour of the East on the invitation of Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, publisher of the Champion Newspapers. This tour has been without fanfare. Iwuanyanwu, a People's Democratic Party (PDP) stalwart from Imo State was at the Abeokuta gathering last Friday, although he arrived late.

The Guardian learnt that after the fund-raiser at the venue, Iwuanyanwu reiterated his (Obasanjo's) invitation to the East and the following day, the former president who at a religious gathering in Warri reportedly criticised Nigeria's current President's handling of the Boko Haram's insurgency responded to the invitation and began his strategic tour of the South East.

Foreign Affairs › Toronto Mayor Ford Removed From Office Because Of $3150 Conflict Of Interest... by Siga(op): 7:52pm On Nov 26, 2012
A judge has ordered Mayor Rob Ford to be removed from office in two weeks after finding him guilty of breaking provincial conflict of interest rules but the embattled politician says he "will fight tooth and nail for his job" and appeal the decision.

Ford was accused of not declaring a conflict of interest when he participated in a city council vote on whether he should repay donations he solicited for his private football foundation using official city letterhead.

The judge's decision will take effect in 14 days. The grace period was granted to give city council time to decide how to proceed - whether to appoint a city councillor as a caretaker or hold a byelection.

Politics › Cabinet Members Must Learn French Language - Gov. Ajimobi (oyo State) by Siga(op): 7:32pm On Nov 26, 2012
IBADAN - MEMBERS of the Oyo State Executive Council as a matter of compulsion must now undergo training in French language.

Governor Abiola Ajimobi who disclosed this in Ibadan, also said that henceforth public secondary schools in the state will be mandated to include the foreign language in their respective curricular.

The governor said this while receiving the French Consular-General in Lagos, Mr. Francois Sastourne who led his team on a courtesy visit to him at the Governor's Office.

He said it had become necessary in order to create avenue for the sharing of cultural experiences and activities with the French community.

Still justifying the need to make the learning of French Language, he said it would widen the level of interaction between the people of the state and the neighbouring countries most of which are French-speaking.

In his response, the Consular-General said that his visit was to promote economic cooperation between Oyo State and his home government.

He also emphasized the importance of French Language to Nigerians, considering the fact that Nigeria is surrounded by French-speaking countries.
