@hayek. To be honest I don't get how those guys work, why do they even spend weeks to process an app in the first place, the uk also does verification but still makes a decision in 15 or so working days. I'm not even sure its their verification that causes delays at times but rather complacency.

Let's keep praying

@anyijoe For what start ? January? Self sponsor ? Parents as sponsors ? Relatives?
Travel / Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by SirP1: 11:02am On Jul 30, 2012
@prayerful good news, I've actually read it somewhere that nigerians are exempted if

+ you have onward ticket within 24hrs
+ you have valid visa / residence permit of destination
+ you're going to us / canada / australia and new zealand
Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada Part 3 by SirP1: 10:54am On Jul 30, 2012
@zone 2 zone if your sponsor is your mum/dad I'll advice canada but if its an uncle / aunty you have a better chance of getting us visa(if you can tidy up what made them refuse you the first time) from what I've been seeing on both us and canada threads.

@slamdunk99 how far with your ticket? Have you purchased anyone?

@donnet Have you gotten your application reference no for tracking your app?
Travel / Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by SirP1: 8:35pm On Jul 27, 2012
@prayerful http://ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitecontent/documents/out-of-country/visitors.pdf

Open it, scroll till you see the subheading for visitors in transit
Travel / Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by SirP1: 7:50pm On Jul 27, 2012
@prayerful vicjustice is right, you dont need a lot of docs just what he said, i just confirmed from ukba site. so in that case i think its advisable to apply for the transit visa
Travel / Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by SirP1: 6:55pm On Jul 27, 2012
@prayerful really? If you end up going through the uk without a transit visa let me know, I'll be glad to transit through heathrow when next I n my folks travel rather than the boring charles de gaulle cheesy
When do you intend travelling?
Travel / Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by SirP1: 6:21pm On Jul 27, 2012
@prayerful Ok Good Luck.. I'm surprised Virgin could have the cheapest fare tho cos they are usually expensive
Travel / Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by SirP1: 5:53pm On Jul 27, 2012
@prayerful I'm not very familiar with those technicalities, I just know the basic reqs, I believe @justwise or @vicjustice can help you out.

If I may ask is there a particular reason why you wanna transit through heathrow, if there's none why not just save yourself the stress and go with klm, lufthansa e.t.c
Travel / Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by SirP1: 4:26pm On Jul 27, 2012
@vicjustice Thanks.. @prayerful the documents are on UKBA website under "in transit through the uk", but I don't think its worth the stress in my opinion because you'll need almost everything you'll use to apply for a visiting visa , I think the only diff is you don't need Accommodation arrangements
Travel / Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by SirP1: 3:56pm On Jul 27, 2012
If a transit visa isn't required, it would be cool because BA's fares are good compared to air france, klm. But I checked ukba's website and it says a direct airside transit visa is required
Travel / Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by SirP1: 3:15pm On Jul 27, 2012
@vicjustice Are you sure that you can get a transit visa as a nigerian citizen at heathrow? I'm asking because I know a couple who had a Tourist visa to canada, and they were refused check in at lagos airport by British Airways staffs because they had no transit visa, they ended up flying air france.
Please clarify,.

This thread has shown me a new way to pass time during a flight - making lines with hot ladies cheesy
I love Nairaland
Travel / Re: Boarding A Plane For The First Time (Your Experience) by SirP1: 4:39pm On Jul 25, 2012
I can't remember my first time cos I was like 1 but the one I can remember when I was 6/7 , it was an Air France flight to paris from lagos,, I remember asking my mum so many questions , we checked in, boarded and the hostess did the safety thingie which I didn't pay much attention to.. cheesy

in my opinion the scariest part is landing, take off aint scary cos some of the time you don't notice immed, until you feel the plane pitch up
Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada Part 3 by SirP1: 1:37pm On Jul 25, 2012
@ancient1 you have siblings , the VO might not consider the properties a tie since any of the siblings could inherit the property unless there is a doc showing you are the heir to the properties.
I'm assuming you're not married so you have no marital ties .
Your Job is not too good as well. I think the VO might have expected someone who has an Msc from the UK to be able to sponsor himself/herself and not depend totally on the mum.
I think your refusal is based on The Home tie issue more than the insufficient funds

When re-applying try to get a will or something that shows you as the person to inherit the properties
Also, try and beef up your personal acct and submit it.. You could state that since you're the owner of the properties, the rents are paid to you ( this would show where the extra money apart from your salary is coming from)

Just my 2cents

Yes I believe so.. I think the company itself is VFS. VAC means visa application center
Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada Part 3 by SirP1: 10:24am On Jul 25, 2012
@danyl you track with the application reference no given to you by vac or the barcode number on your application form if you filled it online before printing it
track it here https://www.vfsglobalonline.com/Canada-Nigeria-GlobalTracker/GlobalPassportTracker.aspx

If you wanna have fun in Paris you'll have to spend money,, going to tourist attractions like Euro Disney is a must, and it'll cost you, so leave paris for now.

I still think Dubai is ideal for you. You'll love it there

I'm talking from experience
Phones / Re: Weak Points Of Blackberry Phones by SirP1: 2:15pm On Jul 24, 2012
Blackberries are poorly made.. The trackpads don't last long, the phone freezes way too often, you have to pay for BIS .. And it seems everyone and I mean everyone has it.
If you want a good smartphone , the iphone 4s, Galaxy s3 , galaxy note are good options

Ill advice if you'll have to go withdraw, when you get there inquire about it , then if nothing comes from that, you can pull out your app.. I think I've heard of people who went to pull and got medicals / trv.. All the best
Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada Part 3 by SirP1: 2:19pm On Jul 23, 2012
@jasmine007 The wait is not easy, keep hoping for the best. Have you tried going to cdhc to find out what's up with your application? Who's your sponsor?

Pauloman has said it all, it seems they value continuity a lot more than most of us realize.. Future applicants should try not to apply to study anything lower than their present qualifications

@olami1224 How far? My application got to cdhc same day as yours.. I guess we are partners in waiting lool
