Dudes do I need a transit visa if I've got a stopover at Dubai international airport? I'm going wiv emirates. Please tell meeee guys

No bro you don't . If you're flying out from lagos try to book the night flight from lagos , reduces your transit time to around 2hrs

uchi4jah: Hi people. Its tomorrow finally. Please, one question: what is that thing that I MUST bring to canada? What should I not forget to bring? What did u wish u carried while travelling? A kind of list.of must take please.....

wink

Have your passport handy , have your letter of admission and tution receipt , as well as accomodation (if you have any ). Also , charge your phone / Laptop / ipod whatever so you'll have something to while away time with in while in transit .. Depending on your airport of transit you might get free wifi . Avoid drinking on the plane , so you won't be disoriented at the port of entry . Oh and at lagos airport don't let those criminal customs officers intimidate you into paying bribe , if you have nothing to hide you don't have to give anyone a cent . Have a safe trip

God bless you Sir P!... Yes, I have good travel history and I run a business of my own which mean I won't mean an employment letter, payslips and the like.. I have seen a nice hotel I will book and I have funds that will cover my expenses... The area I have challenges is the application form which I assume I have filled but there is somethings that came up after filling the application form which requested for a personal checklist code. After providing the code, I was as to upload the application form and some other documents which got me confused...

I don't know if you can explain few details about this.. @ Fhemmmy, am also waiting to hear from you..

Sorry bro I'm not familiar with the online process , when my mom applied , she filled the form , added the supporting docs and submitted and she got the visa in about a month , like I said earlier they're fast with tourist apps now , whether online or paper it doesn't take very long as long as you're qualified .. Also try coming up with an itinerary , tell them you'll be visiting places like cn tower , Niagara , makes you appear like a genuine tourist . Good luck

I think they Candle lose nothing by sharing is light, please I need information on how to apply for tourist visa in canada.. I have attempt to fill the form online and I was also given a personal checklist code but am really confused on how to get ahead with the application..

Please is there anyone out here that can put me through the process! My email : greatolanshi@gmail.com

Bro , if you're applying for a tourist visa , as long as you have funds , evidence to prove how you got the funds (letter from your employer ) , suitable reasons why you're visiting canada, TIES to Nigeria (if you have good travel history that helps ) if you don't land docs or shares help .. Marriage certificate if you're married , pay slips , hotel accomodation you should be fine . As a matter of fact getting tourist visa doesn't take a long time any more (about a month) so try n meet those requirements and you'll be fine , if you have more questions ask ..

Justwise , sorry I posted the same reply thrice . Please delete two can't figure out how to do it

alexray:

yes a "harmless visit" wont be bad, but i work in a remote location, so having access to them now is ruled out, my above quote from emirates was gotten thru phone/online and i cant really trust other websites i've seen cos i dont know their authenticity either their site is not updated or poorly designed... thanks

@justwise
your response was quite short. i know their quote seems good but if i subtract that amount from my budget, i only have N102,000 to play around with. what if i get the ticket/visa from them only, wont that save cost?? I can then look for a cheaper hotel myself. if you agree with this, do you have any good hotel that falls within the range of N10,000 or even lower a night.

As to my shopping

shoe(maximum i plan to spend on a pair N7000/145Dhs)

perfume(maximum i plan to spend on one N15000/313Dhs)

clothes[more of shirts] (maximum i plan to spend on one N2000/42dhs)

Any place in mind(i know the malls are expensive) and its actually not funny when you start converting naira into dollar or dirhams(na who do us like this??)

what about feeding? any location for good Nigerian food??

My apologies if my questions are too much, i just want to cover all grounds

Deira city centre is good for shopping , but in my opinion your shoe budget is too small.. If you really want to get proper quality you should be looking at 80-120 usd

Total rubbish ... Immaturity at its peak... There are several guys in my school with Lv shoes and bags , I don't recall them posting pics of it anywhere .. It's only Nigerians that this kinda thing impresses

mozo: @Siga, mercy and all, need your opinion. If had like 3.5 in my own current account and my sponsor has like 1m in fixed deposit, and 900 in his salary account, will that fly? Or does he need to add more money to that?
He doesn't really qualify as a sponsor.. The vo will reason that he has to take care of himself n family with the 900k. I may be wrong but they might not consider fixed deposit as proof of funds rather as a tie

Boss siga I'm telling you based on personal experience , I bought a MacBook Pro at best buy . Retail price was 1099 and I paid 1400. I got no reason to lie .
Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada Part 3 by SirP1: 11:07pm On Jan 09, 2013
Guys who are new In Canada , always remember to calculate tax in addition to what you're buying so you won't be embarrassed at the payment desk when you realize the cost of what you're buying is much more than you thought ... Here in GTA tax on a laptop of 1100 dollars is about 300dollars but you don't know that till you're bout to pay .

Idomaboi be careful about monitoring your gate.. In my case the gates were changed n I had no idea , it was at the last minute I looked at the screen and saw the change . Don't forget to get a wifi pass at a relay store . It kills the boredom. You can also play FIFA 13 for a small fee..

Siga: ....it might tear ur pocket ooo.....it depends on how much u can afford....but, in all u can still manage Wind Mobile....

Lol my guy boss siga is true , I have a friend who paid over 1000dollars for a month because he streamed videos and rather than Rogers to disconnect him after exceeding the limit, he was charged pay as you go without him knowing so be careful

but i think samsung galaxies and some phones use quad-band...so you can use phones like samsung galaxy pocket both in Nigeria and canada

Wind uses AWC or something like that
Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada Part 3 by SirP1: 11:42pm On Jan 07, 2013
@kayce43 yes boss it will,, some phones might not work on wind tho but other networks should be aiit.. If possible buy your phone unlocked in ng It's better IMO .
Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada Part 3 by SirP1: 11:01pm On Jan 07, 2013
@coricorde depends on the type you want . But it's very hard to get unlocked phones without ordering them from the maker online .. If you don't mind being locked to a carrier just go to any phone store you want . If its an iPhone. Go to the nearest apple store
Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada Part 3 by SirP1: 12:31am On Jan 05, 2013
Yes siga is right, wind is the cheapest but their network can be crappy.. Fido is also good as long as you are not on contract.
Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada Part 3 by SirP1: 7:13pm On Jan 04, 2013
Hello guys, this is for those that just got to ca . Please try n stay away from contract phones . I have a lot of friends who got the s3 and iphone5 on contract n they are seriously regretting it because they are paying almost triple the money they expected to pay n to get out of the contract they need to pay over 1000dollars. And also until you start working stay clear of rogers . They are thieves .

artmostfair: I understand that one may travel wif some USD. But upon landing in Canny can u actually spend USD instead of CAD? Or visit a BDC?

True, but if you're a shoe freak like me you'll be disappointed that footlocker accepts cad only ..most stores take usd tho

TD bank is very good. I have the 3 in 1 acct that has chequeings , savings , and US dollar account for wiring money. The only restriction is every 1week or so 1 dollar is moved to your savings to keep the account active..

Travel / Re: Canada Reduces Waiting Time For Visa Applicants by SirP1: 1:00am On Dec 29, 2012
dangiwa09: .... this does not mean they'll increase number of actual visa issuance, it only means they'll revert to their original 10 days processing time. 10 days was their norm prior to early 2012, nothing new. Canada remains the most difficult visa to get, its easier to get British and American visas than Canadian visa. Canada even routinely deny Americans and Brits entry into Canada at their airport, and send them back home from their airport. As for your perceived notion that Canada wants your medical trip money, ... Canada has a socialized medical care, medical care is FREE for everyone, just present your OHIP card and you will be taken care of. Hospitals in Canada do not need your stolen money, they ara well organised and funded.
Who told you it's the hardest to get? I still think getting a uk tourist visa is more complicated than a canadian one. U need to visit the uk thread n read some of the reasons people are denied ..

Thanks bruv

Remember to be confident (not cocky) although in my opinion canadian immigration is friendly compared to ukba who want a reason to deport you. Please don't forget the letter , cos gratis what you'll show for the permit to be issued. Very crucial

Please do you know if MTN will work there (Toronto). I don't plan to use MTN over there, just that my Internet banking would require a code that will be sent to my MTN anytime i initiate a transfer and since I don't wanna travel with all my budgeted cash,I will need to make transfer when I have a Canadian Bank account. I have alternatives for the transfer (I am a banker). My question is just on MTN roaming

It does, but have at least 1000naira on it cos roaming rates are high
