Singapore1: Dope chune and the video is even greater...my summer anthem right there. I didn't even know Swae Lee is with the shyt when it comes to singing...I just thought Rae Sremmurd were all about this generation's mumble rap. But he has an amazing voice and he made that tune. As for the Ugandan ghetto kids - amazing kids with fresh dance moves. Still trying to steal some of their moves. |

Sports / Mike Tyson: 'it's All About Joshua Now - That One Fight Changed Boxing' by SirShymexx: 4:52pm On May 04, 2017 |
Dubai, UAE -- Mike Tyson has tipped Anthony Joshua to carry the torch for boxing's heavyweight division for many years to come after his victory over Wladimir Klitschko. Joshua added the WBA and IBO heavyweight title to his IBF crown with a stunning stoppage of Klitschko last Saturday, a fight watched by 90,000 people at Wembley Stadium. The excitement Joshua has brought to the heavyweight division has led to comparisons with Tyson in his pomp and the Brooklyn-born fighter believes the Brit is only just getting started. "Whenever there's a new heavyweight champion and he's explosive like that and wins the title like that it changes the whole game," Tyson said at the launch of his Mike Tyson Academy franchise in Dubai. "All the little guys that were making a lot of money are not going to make their money any more. "It's all going to be about Joshua and the heavyweights now. That one fight changed boxing." Tyson admitted he knew little about Joshua before the fight but insisted that he exhibited all the qualities necessary to be a long-serving champion. "It was a great fight," Tyson told ESPN. "I had actually picked Klitschko to win as I thought this was just some jumped-up young guy from England. But man he fought well. Klitschko is 41 and no-one has ever done that to him. "Importantly, he showed heart. He took a big punch from Klitschko and went down but he got back up. He showed real intestinal fortitude. He's consistent, persistent and he didn't give up. There's no quitting in him. I love that he goes out there to hurt his opponent, too. That's what boxing is all about but most fighters just don't have that hunger. "Joshua is still just a baby with 19 fights, it took me 28 fights to become world champion. But who cares, he's the champ. The sky is the limit for him now and he is going to dominate the division and make so much money if he just keeps on doing what he's doing." The Klitschko victory was Joshua's 19th straight win by knockout, the Brit's impressive start to his professional career mirroring Tyson, who also had 19 consecutive knockouts to his name before beating James Tillis on points in his 20th fight. Beyond the similar records, Tyson and Joshua also share a similar route into the sport with both starting boxing as a means to escape their difficult upbringings. "I see the comparison, sure," Tyson said. "If you are of an Afro-English background you're likely to have a tough time; if you're born in the wrong part of town it's always going to be rough. You're going to be financially challenged, scholastically challenged. It was like that for me and it's like that now. "Boxing gives kids - like me, like Joshua - an outlet. You can take a guy with nothing, clean them up and next thing he's meeting the President of the United States or the Prime Minister of the UK. It's a great leveller." Though Tyson and Joshua share much in common, the pair's personalities are markedly different. Tyson's notoriously abrasive demeanour during his career earned him the nickname 'The Baddest Man on the Planet'. Joshua's image, in contrast, is more of gentle giant - though the former champion feels that is likely to change. "He's a nice guy but he's got to stop being a nice guy soon. It's hard to stay that way, believe me. People are going to irritate him and he's going to end up saying things he didn't know he was capable of saying on television! That's what happens." Elsewhere in the heavyweight division there isn't too much to get excited about according to Tyson, who hopes Joshua avoids facing WBC champion Deontay Wilder in a unification bout. "With what Joshua can bring now everyone will want to fight him because he is bringing the money to the table. After the Klitschko fight, nobody is going to want to watch Deontay Wilder or any of those guys. They won't pay for it, they want the best and the best is Joshua. "I really don't think Deontay Wilder would be a good fight for Joshua, I'd much prefer to see him fight Mike Perez. He needs a couple more fights but that could be great to watch." http://www.espn.com/boxing/story/_/id/19307350/mike-tyson-all-anthony-joshua-now 1 Like 1 Share |

firebrand: This is why I hate Nigeria and the useless politics that keeps balkanising people and old kingdoms where all the people lived happily together as one. Just shut the fvck up. You and your fellow illiterates need to stop posting nonsense. My mum is Remo from Iperu-remo and my dad is Ijebu-Epe and all my life the both of them have always claimed Ijebu, and that's what we all grew up claiming. Remo and all the other Ijebu enclaves in Lagos have always been part of the Ijebu Kingdom. The kingdom was broken into three - Epe, Ikorodu, and Ijebu Ode administrative units by the colonial Brits after the Ijebu kingdom was defeated. Ijebu-Remo was grouped under the Ikorodu administrative unit, while Ijebu waterside was under Epe administrative unit, and the rest were under Ijebu-Ode until it was later made the Ijebu province. And subsequently, the Akarigbo's throne was upgraded to a first class king due to politics. Also, all the crowns that came from Ife came after that. Meaning: they're all 20th century crowns. You lot need to shut the fvck up - Ijebu, Ijebu-remo, and Ijebu waterside are all one people. The fact that Awolowo was a Remo man from Ikenne and he said he's an Ijebu man before anything else adds credence to it. I don't understand the stupidity on this thread. Nigeria just made you heifers so dumb that you'd rather fight unnecessary fights, than embrace what makes you one...which is the dialect/history. And if you're ignorant, how about pick up a book about Ijebu kingdom in pre-colonial Nigeria and read? Mehn fvck Nigeria, the useless politics and functional illiterates the country keeps churning out. 3 Likes |

Stadium and street to be named after Anthony Joshua in Nigeria After defeating Ukrainian Wladimir Klitschko, Anthony Joshua is set to be honoured by the Ogun State government, the state where his parents hail from in Nigeria. Majority leader of the State House of Assembly Yinka Mafe says he will move a motion in the state legislature to have the Sagamu International Stadium renamed Anthony Joshua Stadium, and the popular Cinema Street in Sagamu renamed Anthony Joshua Street. Of the two, the street is the most significant, as his family owns almost half the land and property on one side of the street. The cinema, from which the road takes its name, was built by his great grandfather Omo-Oba Daniel Adebambo Joshua in the 50s, and is one of the oldest of such facilities in the country. Mafe joined hundreds of Sagamu youth to watch the fight in an open air viewing event organised by the Sagamu Youth Congress, and was thrilled by both the turnout and the outcome. "We are proud of what he has achieved as a son of Sagamu, and we will be happy to do our own little bit to show our appreciation and support for him," Mafe said. http://www.espn.com/espn/story/_/id/19285282/stadium-street-named-anthony-joshua-nigeria 2 Likes |

davidif: Lmao @ suspect stamina. You're a casual and I guess that's why you didn't see the sneaky left hook Wlad caught him when he was over-celebrating in the 5th round that got him shaken. Yes, he almost punched himself out in trying to end the match there due to inexperience and when you're as muscular as he's because muscles consume more oxygen than the normal average human being, you can gas out pretty quick. But he showed heart and that's what true champions are made of. You mean the same fat gypsy cu.nt that got put to sleep by a slow and bummy Steve Cunningham? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rb7pR_-7W3w When AJ's punches hit him, he won't get up till the next day. |

davidif: You're another casual. Heavyweight boxing isn't just about speed - it's more about power, chin, heart, technique, and experience. And age had absolutely nothing to do with yesterday's fight. Based on your posts on this thread and the other bitter naysayers, I doubt anyone of you know anything about Wlad. Yesterday's Wlad was arguably the best Wlad that has ever stepped in the ring. And to those saying 10-15 years ago or if he were still youthful - the young Wlad was a flawed fighter that got knocked the fvck out by Corrie Sanders and Lamon Brewster. He never became a champion until Emanuel Steward became his coach, after his fight with Samuel Peters (I think they linked up in 2006). And after that, Emanuel Steward helped him develop the highly destructive jab that made him a great heavyweight champion and he was undefeated after that, until he got complacent against the awkward Tyson Fury. Also, it takes time to master a new skill and Wlad didn't perfect the jab until 2008/2009, hence he used to hold people a lot and he was deemed boring. So, a younger Wlad wouldn't have beaten AJ. He fought one of his greatest fights yesterday, without holding and that was the first time his chin was proper tested, post-Emanuel Sanders. Age had nothing to do with it. Two warriors fought and AJ survived in the lion's den. Give the man his props. When he beats both Fury and Wilder, you naysayers are going to come back with a next excuse. The same excuse you never made for Mike Tyson who fought straight bums and tomato cans because he was an interesting fighter. Tyson lost all his fights against prime hall of fame boxers and a journeyman like Buster Douglas but some of you think he's a god, when even Riddick Bowe was a better fighter than Tyson and would've knocked him out. No wonder he ducked Bowe. Stop hating on the warrior. 1 Like 1 Share |

Ralphlauren: Haye is still salty his achilles failed him against a bum like Tony Bellew and messed up an opportunity for a big cheque. And even before he tore his achilles in that fight, he was all over the place looking to land a big right. Haye is more of a hustler and since there's no money involved anymore, he isn't interested. Yes, he made some terrible business decisions and I believe he lost millions, hence he came back. He didn't waste his money the way Tyson did - just bad investments. And I don't think his body can hold up anymore because he has a lot of nagging injuries. No one is going to fight Shannon Briggs - he's too dangerous with nothing to lose. So, there's no point fighting the man, since he won't add anything to their resume. Fury is going to come back for AJ. They both need the fight and the money. But I don't think it will happen this year. That's a fight for next year. Fury needs 1 or 2 decent fights. And AJ also needs to fight 1 half-decent fighter before Fury. But if they can make AJ and Wilder before that, it would be interesting. I believe AJ can beat wilder and he's the easier option because Fury is tall, lanky, and awkward. Wilder is more of a yank hype job than a boxer. So, AJ won't have a problem knocking him out if he can avoid his wild right. Wilder also has no jab which is a plus for AJ. Yanks don't really like travelling and they believe they own boxing. AJ needs to fight in Vegas to win them over. If he can fight Jennings or Wilder in Vegas and knock either of them out, he's going to become a big thing there and they will start gravitating towards him more. Regardless, American TV gave AJ a big cheque after the Chris Martin fight and a lot of them already know about him. He just needs to fight there and win them over. And I believe they're working on that. 2 Likes |

And if the ticket prices aren't too crazy, 100,000 out of over 150 million heads in naij should be able to afford it in a city like Abuja or Lagos. Naij folks just need to save up. But there's a possibility if the price is right, tho. |
Sports / Re: This Photo Makes Boxing Fans Proclaim Anthony Joshua The New Muhammad Ali by SirShymexx: 11:25am On Apr 30, 2017 |
ednut1: Lmao @ he has no skill or leg movement. You just showed you're a casual and exposed the fact that you're a boxing novice. In as much as it's blasphemous to compare him to the gawd, Ali (Ali was a heavyweight champion who fought like a lightweight - pure greatness)...AJ is the best thing to happen to heavyweight boxing in a long time. Most people forget that he started boxing at 18 when the average boxer has already fought tens of amateur fights and some are pros. And he just turned pro 4 years ago and he's only 19 fights in. How many boxers not named Ali fought a champion like Wladimir Klitschko after 18 fights? Even Mike Tyson fought a lot of bums and tomato cans...and his first half-decent Larry Holmes who had already lost a step and was looking flabby and sick. And Tyson was already 33 fights in. And Tyson never even beat any real boxing hall of famer, apart from Larry Holmes and a stiff Frank Bruno. But I'm sure a lot of you would talk about how great Mike Tyson was. And don't tell me George Foreman was skilled either. AJ is still green and inexperienced as a boxer and that's what a lot of people don't understand. And the fact that he took the fight when he's clearly not ready for a fight of this magnitude showed his heart. And he showed a lot of heart, grit, and endurance to come back after what happened in the 6th round. That's a warrior and a true champion. Champions are made based on how they overcome adversity and he passed with flying colours yesterday. He has no skills and leg movement, yet he won Olympics gold medal and definitely a Cuban legend on his way there...and when he decides to box, he can actually box. The only thing about him that's negative apart from his inexperience is that he carries too much muscles yet throws barrage of punches like a lightweight whenever he thinks he has a chance to knock people out. And you can't do that in the heavyweight division, else you'll always gas yourself out and leave yourself open to attack, especially against fighters with experience and great chin. And he has done that twice now. However, he's going to learn. And to those claiming Wlad is 41 years old...the German reporters (Wlad is based in Germany - he turned pro there and he fights in the country, so they know him better than everyone else) at the post-match press conference said that was the best fight Wlad fought since he turned pro and in his 29 title defenses. So, a younger Wlad wouldn't have done anything different because AJ was able to hold and weave after he gassed out when coasting from round 6 (after the knock down) - 9. He took some bad shots but he showed he has a good chin. Wlad's also an experienced fighters and he was also cautious. Rushing forward after the knock down in the 6th like AJ did in the 5th would've been disastrous for him as well. Give props to the new king - that's the best heavyweight boxing match in over a decade. Heavyweight boxing is back! 4 Likes 3 Shares |

For those who think the guy doesn't care about naij despite how he shows off his African tattoo, with naija shaded on it, how he alludes to naija all the time, and the fact that he actually wanted to fight for naija before he was rejected - he might fight Wilder in Nigeria if everything works out fine. Nigeria apparently sent emissaries to speak to him recently about fighting in Nigeria and his promoter, Eddie Hearn, said if the price is right, it's a high possibility. His parents (especially his dad) also want him to fight in Nigeria. So, if and when the Wilder fight happens, it might be in Nigeria. But he isn't going to fight Fury in Nigeria because that's a British classic that will most likely break all records. Truth234: Ortiz is a tough customer and both AJ and Wilder need to avoid him like a plague. Cubans aren't nothing to play with and there's no point fighting someone like him since he isn't that popular. But Parker doesn't punch that hard and he's still green. Anyway, AJ, Wilder, and Parker are the trio that will rule the heavyweight division for a long time. I just want AJ to beat the both of them and Fury - then retire from boxing while his face is still decent. His face took a lot of punishment tonight an it's unhealthy for him. Once he cleans the division and boost his record to 25 wins - time to retire and get in the boxing HoF. He's worth over £50 million right now and should top £200 million in 2-3 years. That's enough. 4 Likes 1 Share |

And that heavy right that knocked AJ down in the 6th was swift and vicious. But Wlad has iron for a chin and he never looked 41 in the fight. Ralphlauren: I shouldn't be shitting on my Peckham brother, but David Haye is done after the bum, Tony Bellew beat him. Haye only came back because he made bad business decisions and lost a lot of money. He just wanted to ride the hype to a big check. But destiny failed him and he can't come back. AJ won't fight him and he has too many nagging injuries. Fury would be a decent fight but I don't think he should fight Fury now. Fury needs at least two fights with decent opponents to build the hype for the fight. I think he needs to unify the division and fight Deontay Wilder. Wilder's limited and he doesn't have any jab, apart from throwing wild punches and relying on his big right. So, AJ should beat him easily. That's an easy fight for AJ. Then after that, a fight with Fury at Wembley would break the world record for attendance. I doubt Wlad would want a rematch with the type of beating he took tonight... he'll most likely retire. 2 Likes |
