I thought AJ had lost it in the 6th round. He was so tired that he couldn't even throw a single punch.

WK really fought well. If the fight had gone to round 12, he might have won on points.

He was somewhat exhausted and he also got stung by Wlad's left hook in the 5th. And the punishment he took subsequently in the 5th round carried over to the 6th.

It's heavyweight boxing and they hit freaking hard. Wlad is called "Hammer" for a reason because his power punches do sting.

No, they were level in round 10 and if AJ had won 10 & 11, he would've won the fight.

AJ won round 1-3 and 5. Wlad won rounds 4, 6-9.

Great analysis bruv.

The Londoner in him shone through.

This match will make AJ a better fighter as he reached real deep into strengths he never knew he possessed.

There are also many lessons to be learnt by AJ from this fight. He needs to really work on his stamina. At a point, you could tell he was exhausted.

Definitely, especially since he came into this fight very heavy at 17 stones.

He needs to get leaner and work on his cardio. And also be more careful in the ring when he's throwing those fast combinations and he has the edge. He gets carried away too easily like he's fighting a street fight. He did the same against Dillian Whyte and got caught with that wild left hook that almost knocked him out. And the same thing happened tonight.

However, he knows how to dig deep and get himself going whenever he faces adversity and that's one quality that shows his tenacity, heart, and what true champions are made of. Once he survived the 6th round - I just knew he would come back and he did slowly in round 9 before he got loose again in rounds 10 and 11. WARRIOR!!

Respect bro !! grin grin

You predicted right.

That uppercut from AJ in round 11 was epic.

Lol, but I was scared towards the end of the 5th round and throughout the 6th. grin

My nyggah celebrated too early and got rocked by a left hook. His inexperience showed there and Wlad pummeled him. And the 6th round was scary as fvck. I was just praying for him to get through that 6th round.

Once he made the 7th...I knew he would dig deep and bounce back like he did against Dillian Whyte. That just shows his inner abilities, perseverance, and it shows he wants it bad.

Scary and great fight, regardless. Proud of AJ, brev. grin

Wlad still has it...Fury's just an awkward/lanky fighter you can't get comfortable with in the ring and since he's like 6'9, he's difficult to jab consistently. And Wlad's strength lies with his jabs. Hat off to Wlad.

But AJ is the KING!!!! AJ for PRESIDENT!!! grin 19 fights - 19KO. FEMI!!!!

SirShymexx, I bow to you sensei!!!!!

Great win but AJ effed up...his inexperience and poor coaching showed in this fight. Thank God he was able to dig deep and wait patiently for the opportunity.

He celebrated too early in the 5th round after he knocked Wlad down and he almost lost the fight at the end of that round and the 6th round. His coach also never showed him how to take away Wlad highly effective and destructive jabs.

AJ the warrior came through and showed a lot of heart. Great experience for him moving forward.

LOL at the street in him came out after the fight when he had the mic - he spoke like a proper Londoner, unlike all the other times when he's cosmetic and trying to sound professional/posh. Wlad showed him what boxing is about and he had to get loose.

Proud of my brother.

WHO IS NEXT TO STEP IN THE LION'S DEN? CHAT SHIIT, GET BANG!!! grin

And don't say he didn't rep naija - he came to the ring with a naija flag with someone on his entourage!

Am actually rooting for Aj . it will be a great fight come tonight . he banned his mum from watching.

His mum is always scared whenever he's in ring. So it's understandable why she was banned from watching him to save her the stress/duress that may come with it. At the end of the day, she's proud of what her son has achieved and how he had been able to turn his life around from being caught up in the street - to boxing - with help of his brother, (G)benga whose boxing career has hit a snag. He's also her only son (he has half-brothers...his dad has about 8-10 kids).

You just have to root for him. Heavyweight boxing has been dud for over a decade since Lennox Lewis retired. And AJ has brought excitement back to the division. Heck, you can even make an argument that boxing hasn't been that interesting since Mayweather retired. And if AJ and all the other heavyweight prospects like Joseph Parker and Deontay Wilder can bring the excitement back, since that's historically the most interesting division in boxing - he deserves all the support in the world. Then you've Lawrence Okolie who's still green but on the come-up as well in the cruiser weight division and he should also move to heavyweight if he can clean out that division because he has always been a big kid and he should be too big for that division in 4-5 years.

Bro AJ hasn't gone more Dan the 6th round before in his entire career , so if d match goes beyond d 6th round d Ukraine man might just have d day because he has seen it all, he has fought up to d 12th rounds

He has gone past the 6th round twice in his career. He knocked out both Dillian Whyte and Dominic Breazeale in the 7th round. And when you look at both fights, he boxed for most of the rounds: Dillian (round 3-7 after he got rocked by a wild swing for being careless) and Breazeale (from round 1-7).

Have you seen the guy train and what he does? He'll never run out of gas due to his training style and what he does. You can't be fitter than that guy.

Good analysis bruv.

Truth is the match can go either way.

Klitschko really wants the win badly so that he can retire from boxing on a high.

It's one thing to want it badly so as to leave on a high. However, it's another thing for the body to have what it takes to deliver due to age. And he doesn't have his brother, Vitali's punching power.

Look at his last three fights with half-decent heavyweight boxers: Fury, Povetkin, and Jennings. He lost to Fury because he couldn't use the height/reach advantage for his effective jabs, while he won via UD against both Povetkin and Jennings who're 6'2 and 6'3 respectively. And none of the three has AJ's speed, power, and amateur pedigree.

Picture what Mike Tyson did to Larry Holmes...that's what's gonna happen tonight. Just give me props when it happens lol.

I honestly do not see AJ winning this fight.

Klischko has the advantage of experience over him.

It's too early in his career to take on such an experienced and much older fighter. I think he's doing this fight solely for the paycheck.

For AJ, it's £16million in earnings just from one night.

My prediction : AJ is knocked out in the 10th round and Klischko retires from professional boxing after this.

Lmao @ 41-year old Klischko knocking AJ out.

When was the last time Vlad Klischko knocked out anyone taller than 6'4 with almost the same reach reach as him? I'm sure you know Vlad and Vitale are two different Klischkos, no? Better don't waste your money on that type of bet because it's never going to happen.

Both have almost the same reach and height. Both had great amateur careers with Olympics medals...so they can both box. However, AJ has the advantage in age, agility, power, hunger, and raw strength - while Vlad has experience to his advantage.

Don't expect AJ to fight him the same way he fought Dillian Whyte due to emotions and wanting to shut the guy up. He's going to box him, take away the highly effective jabs, and wear him down with speed and pot shots. The 41-year old wouldn't be able to deal with what's going to hit him once it's past the 6th round. If Klischko is going to have a chance - he has to do it from round 1-3. After that, his chin and old legs would have to come up big. Put your money on AJ...he's in his best shape ever and he's hungry.

If Joshua wins, he will be the second Nigerian to win the heavyweight title after Samuel Peters.

AJ and that bum DO NOT belong in the same sentence and AJ is the IBF heavyweight champion of the world. And he has been since 2016 when he knocked Charles Martin out in the 2nd round. AJ is the real deal - Samuel Peters was a sloppy and fat fighter.

However, if he wins tonight, he's going to add the WBA and IBO titles to his laurels, with Deontay Wilder holding the WBC title. Deontay Wilder is a farmer with a big right and if and when they get in the ring together - AJ should knock him out and unify the whole division.

AJ should knock Klitschko out before round 11.

Lol. I only know one person from the names you posted and he succeeded because he left peckam. The question is, when are you leaving peckam for greener pastures grin

LOL. Lmao @ "green pastures". The term "Green Pastures" is a myth and something unimaginative/lazy people bask in. Real and smart people with ingenuity make the best out of whatever position/environment they find themselves in. That's one of the greatest lessons you can learn from the story of Jesus and his ability to turn water into wine. Ditto how slaves managed to turn lime into lemonade. And also the essence of intellectual curiosity and being imaginative. grin

I haven't even lived there (I mean live there everyday for at least 2 weeks straight in Peckham) for over a decade. But that's home and I'm always there. And when you're from there - it never leaves you. That's how spiritual the place is. Also, when people ask you about where you're from and you say, "Peckham", they always bow down and kiss the ring because they know you're a real one. Especially when you're an "original" like me who fought real wars with stars and stripes...and still managed to stay above water and be an achiever. grin

Anyway, John is still always out there and the rest are about to shock the world. Be on the look out for the young dons...they're coming.

LOL. Afam4eva, why are you still trolling in 2017, when you're almost 40 years old? 40-year old troll, huh? grin

Eguns who're part of Dahomey, the same Dahomey kingdom, the Aworis (who're farmers) requested the Bini kingdom to protect them from in Eko, cos Oyo couldn't send its cavalry to the coast, are the original inhabitants of the place? And isn't Egun enclave a suburb of today's Lagos, even after a lot of places have been added to the place? So, based on your logic, inhabitants of the suburbs, own Lagos? grin

I bet you don't even know that the Egun enclave in Lagos used to be part of republic du benin, under the French, during colonisation. The colonial Brits and the French traded it for a Yoruba enclave in present day Ogun. The French took the Yoruba town and gave the Brits the Egun enclave in return (I think it's due to proximity). Without that, the Egun enclave would never have been part of today's Lagos or even Nigeria.

Anyway, I don't blame you - I blame the Nigerian educational system that keeps churning out functional illiterates like you. A 40-year old troll. Afam4eva, hide ya face in shame. grin

This one thing that shows that LAGOS is no mans's land.... All Yorubas in lagos are migrants, he you seen any Lagosian here defending the Oba of Lagos who supposed to be their Oba but no, .... Because Lagosians are all migrants

In as much as disrespecting the man's crown is uncalled for...do some of you know the history of Lagos, the crown, and the people from Lagos? How can you even claim the place is "no man's land", yet be oblivious to the history of the place? I blame the Nigerian educational system that keeps churning out functional illiterates like you and your ilk.

In case you don't know: the Oba of Lagos isn't a proper high ranking traditional Yoruba king. He's more of a political king that grew in status, due to Nigeria and how relevant Lagos is, in the country. However, that doesn't negate the irrelevance of the crown amongst Yorubas. Even within Lagos - he's not the supreme king (he's more of Duke of his small domain). Evidently, no Lagosian who understands Yoruba history is going to DEFEND an inconsequential king who's brazen enough to be caught up in the Nigerian created hype, to disrespect his superior. And NO, Lagosians aren't migrants - they just have functional brain cells (unlike you) and they understand Yoruba history/culture/tradition.

The Oba of Eko is alone by himself in a sunken place. He needs to apologise and stay humble.

3). Anthony Oluwafemi Joshua

George Foreman: "Anthony Joshua can be one of the best boxers ever’: George Foreman talks up IBF heavyweight champion but warns him against ‘complacency and over-confidence"

ANTHONY JOSHUA can go on to become one of the greatest heavyweights of all time. That’s according to boxing Hall of Famer and two-time former champion of the world George Foreman.

Joshua is in training ahead of a prospective IBF world title defence on December 10. An opponent has yet to be named.

People were desperate for the Watford fighter to be pitched in with dethroned champ Wladimir Klitschko. But the Ukrainian has picked up an injury in training and won’t fight again until next year.

It is expected, however, that the two will eventually have their dust up, with February the month being talked about. But Foreman believes Joshua is well on the way to shaking up boxing for the better, and becoming the next big thing.

In an exclusive interview with SunSport, the 67-year-old said: "Anthony Joshua has all the tools to become one of the greatest heavyweights of all time, but complacency and over-confidence could make Klitschko easily win.

"Joshua has got the right jab, the right combination and he’s an athlete. I like that look."

Foreman went on to describe how Joshua is without doubt the "best British heavyweight" at the moment.

A prospective fight between Joshua and Klitschko was being discussed, albeit at length, for December 10, but the Ukrainian has picked up an injury in training.

The IBF world heavyweight champion WILL still defend his title in Manchester on December 10 and the new opponent is expected to be confirmed by the end of this week.

Both fighters remain desperate to face each other despite Klitschko’s injury – with specialists waiting to confirm the nature of the former world champion’s setback.

Spring of next year has been pencilled in for the bout as long as AJ retains his title at the Manchester Arena.

2). Dele Alli

Premier League Playback: Dele Alli the next great star

Dele Alli‘s doesn’t do Sophomore slumps. His form this season destroys their notion entirely.

Alli, who turns 21 on Tuesday, scored a stunner in Tottenham’s 4-0 demolition of Watford at White Hart Lane on Saturday as Spurs continue to pile the pressure on Chelsea.

Tottenham remain seven points behind Chelsea with seven games to go but with Alli in this kind of form you can’t blame Spurs for believing they still have a chance of winning the title. He has now scored 19 goals in all competitions this season, adding five assists for Spurs. Last season, his first in the Premier League after moving up from League One MK Dons, Alli scored 10 goals and added 11 assists.

Alli has it all and his stunning curling goal to set Spurs up for their latest win showed his class.

His only weakness remains his penchant for wanting to get involved in spats with opposition players who target him, which happened again at the weekend. He may always have that streak but he must curb it.

Still, focusing on the positives, of which there are many when it comes to Alli, the stat below reinforces what a special talent he is.

Asked about Alli’s impressive numbers following the win against Watford, Mauricio Pochettino couldn’t hide his surprise and believes he is working with one of the best young players in Europe.

“Wow. That’s unbelievable. He’s green but he’s great. First of all, he’s a great kid, a lovely, lovely person. And then he is a great player,” Pochettino said. “I think today, his age and with his stats, I think so. If not he’s the best, he’s one of the best for sure. He is so young, he can improve a lot, learn a lot, his potential is massive. Every day he’s improving, and getting more mature. He’s improving in his skills but in his character as well. He’s special. He’s different from all the players who play now at his age. He’s so experienced. His energy, his character, his quality. He is a unique player.”

With Harry Kane returning from injury earlier than expected to lead the line for the run-in (Heung-Min Son has scored seven goals in his last five games, doing a fine job in Kane’s absence) Spurs aren’t giving up hope of catching Chelsea for the title.

Even if they don’t catch Chelsea this season, the strength in depth of their young squad suggests Pochettino’s boys will be in many a title race for the next decade to come.

Alli will be the man leading those challenges if the likes of Real Madrid don’t pry him away form White Hart Lane just like they did with Gareth Bale once his star power became apparent.

Among all of the Europe’s brightest young talents — the likes of Paulo Dybala at Juventus, Leroy Sane at Manchester City, Marcus Rashford at Manchester United, Christian Pulisic at Borrusia Dortmund and spring to the mind — Alli is light years ahead of the rest.

A new superstar has been born and is now established in the Premier League.

Diego Costa is an angry man at the best of times.

Right now he looks exasperated and as if he’s carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders.

During Chelsea’s 3-1 win at Bournemouth, a result which saw them regain their seven-point lead atop the Premier League following Spurs’ win earlier on Saturday, Costa toiled to no avail.

Chelsea’s first goal was initially credited to him (he did superbly to turn and bring the ball under control) but replays showed he clearly shanked his effort off target as the ball deflected off Adam Smith and in. The goal was later credited to Smith as an own goal which just about sums up Costa’s recent form in front of goal.

You can never accuse Costa of a lack of effort but at times his focus appeared to be off with a bad miss at the near post from Marcos Alonso‘s pinpoint cross at the start of the second half, plus his manager Antonio Conte looked to the heavens in disbelief on each of the occasions Costa surrendered possession easily or crashed to the ground without drawing a foul.

Pro Soccer Talk, on location at the Vitality Stadium, asked Conte after the victory if he was happy with Costa’s display.

“I’m happy for his performance. Yes, at this moment Diego is not scoring but he is totally involved in the team and our idea of football,” Conte said. “The first goal, he provided the first goal. He must continue to work in this way, with a great commitment and desire and great work rate. I’m sure he can score in every game.”

Costa’s record suggests he can indeed score in every game. He has 49 goals in 83 appearances in the Premier League but has just four goals in his last 14 appearances for Chelsea in all competitions. For a side on the cusp of clinching the title and in an FA Cup semifinal, their star striker is hardly spearheading their final push.

In the early months of the campaign Costa was a beast as Conte looked to have shackled his mean streak and channeled it perfectly. However, since reports of the back injury, a potential training ground bust up and links to a big move to the Chinese Super League in late January, Costa looks like he did for most of last season.

The Spanish international is laboring through games, grumbling away at officials and snatching at chances whenever they come his way. With Eden Hazard and others stepping up in recent games to soften the blow of Costa’s cold spell in front of goal, the former Atletico Madrid forward will likely win his second PL title in three seasons at Chelsea and he’ll be top scorers in each of those campaigns.

Yet, ask Chelsea’s fans if they want Costa to stick around next season and you’ll likely get a lukewarm response.

Costa’s cold streak continues and despite Conte’s comments you get the sense that if he can bring in Alvaro Morata, Antoine Griezmann or Alexis Sanchez this summer, Chelsea will jump at the chance to ship out Costa and move on. He’d probably do the same.

1). Giannis Antetokounmpo (AdeTokunbo)...the new Hakeem Olajuwon

5 Notes On Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Playoff Performance So Far

Giannis Antetokounnpo has been carrying the Milwaukee Bucks in the playoffs. These five notes help explain how he’s doing it, and how he could be even better.

Giannis Antetokounmpo has been extra freakish in the 2017 NBA Playoffs. The Greek Freak has now led the Milwaukee Bucks to a 2-1 series lead over the favored Toronto Raptors, and that Game 2 loss was a close one.

The Bucks could take a 3-1 lead with another win in Milwaukee, where they last beat the Raps by a whopping 27 points. Although that blowout was a team effort by the Bucks, Giannis still put up an impressive 19 point, eight rebound, four assist, two steal and two block stat-line against Toronto on Thursday.

Giannis has been effective throughout the playoffs thus far. Antetokounmpo has 71 points through three games. Back when he and the Bucks made the postseason back in 2015, Giannis managed to score 69 points–in the entirety of the six-game series.

This is a new day in Milwaukee, one where the Greek Freak is capable of leading his team farther than a first-round exit, it appears. But just how is Giannis operating at such a high level with the stakes at their highest, considering Antetokounmpo averaged just 11 points per game in the playoffs last time he appeared in them?

The following five notes about his performances in the 2017 NBA Playoffs so far help to explain just why Giannis Antetokounmpo has been so effective thus far, although it’s hard to encapsulate Giannis’ game in any one article.

Being Aggressive
It’s not easy for a kid from Greece to come over to America, get drafted at 15th overall by some team from Milwaukee, and become a superstar. It takes time. In his rookie season, Giannis took just over five shots per game on a terrible Bucks team.

The next season Giannis became a full-time starter, but he still took less than 10 shots per game. That was the last season in which Milwaukee qualified for postseason play, and although his usage upticked without Brandon Knight around Giannis still took less than 12 shots a game in the postseason.

That number is actually boosted from one game the Bucks played in that series that went to overtime, in which Giannis made 10 of his 22 shots for 25 points. For the rest of that series, Giannis never took more than 13 shots or scored more than 12 points.

Couldn’t be this year’s Giannis. In the 2017 NBA Playoffs, Antetokounmpo is taking over 17 shots per game and scoring 23.7 points per game. Maybe the best sign that Giannis feels the game differently now was actually Game 2.

Giannis struggled with his shot in that game, especially early on, but he didn’t let that get him down. Antetokounmpo just kept on pushing, taking shots and attacking the rim, and ended the game with 24 points.

It took Giannis 24 shots to get there, but playoff basketball is just like that sometimes. The Bucks need Giannis to score, even if he’s not making every single shot. There’s a Russell Westbrook line that shouldn’t be crossed as far as being too aggressive, but so far Giannis has found a nice happy medium of getting a healthy amount of touches without monopolizing Milwaukee’s offense.

Making Some Triples
One of the things most often said about Giannis Antetokounmpo–besides something about how difficult it is to say/spell his name–is that he would be so damn good if he could only develop a jump shot.

Bucks fans often have to take the time to point out that, hey, Giannis is pretty damn good right now, as in starting the All-Star Game good, without having a knock-down jumper. Maybe they won’t even have to say that pretty soon.

Quietly, Giannis is shooting 43.3 percent from three-point territory in the playoffs thus far. The sample size here is obviously tiny–he’s taken seven shots from distance–but it’s noteworthy that the Greek Freak is even taking those threes.

Locking Down With Thon
Everybody on the Milwaukee Bucks’ starting lineup has really long arms. Each of the Bucks starters has a 6’10” or longer wingspan, which is pretty incredible. Giannis and Thon Maker have the longest arms of the group though, and they’ve used them to terrorize the Raptors.

Giannis and Thon have shared the floor for 52 minutes so far in the postseason. They’ve allowed the Raptors to score just 93 points per 100 possessions, while the Bucks have scored 112.8 points per 100 possessions in the same minutes.

Those two combining to play great defense makes a lot of sense. Even if they’re not blocking every shot themselves, having either Giannis, Thon, or both of them in or around the paint is a major deterrent to either Kyle Lowry or DeMar DeRozan driving to the basket.

Those players are good, but they’re not good enough to get through two athletic, long seven-footers. Both Giannis and Thon are laterally quick enough to get between a driving Raptor and the rim quickly.

There’s a reason the Bucks prevented DeMar DeRozan from making a single shot in Game 3–between Tony Snell‘s relentless one-on-one defense and having Thon and Giannis to help, it can be tough to score on this team.

Staying Out Of Foul Trouble
This might be the biggest note about Giannis Antetokounmpo’s playoff performances thus far. You can be the best player in the world, but it doesn’t matter if you aren’t actually playing. (See Joel Embiid‘s Rookie of the Year case for an example of the contrary.)

The only thing that could keep Giannis from playing is foul trouble, or actually being ejected from a game. He’s picked up just eight total fouls in three playoff games thus far, which is a very manageable total.

Four of those came in Game 1, where Giannis did flirt with foul trouble slightly. He still managed to play over 38 minutes though, and four fouls for an entire game isn’t entirely crippling. Since then Bucks fans have seen a lot of control from the Greek Freak, who’s picked up just four fouls over the last two games.

One moment especially sticks out from Game 3, when Serge Ibaka was clearly jostling and pushing Giannis and looking interested in starting something. In a beautiful display of maturity, Giannis looked disappointed in Ibaka and just walked away.

Antetokounmpo now realizes the Bucks need him on the floor far more than they need him to make a statement by decking somebody on the other team, as much fun as it was to watch him take down Mike Dunleavy.

Politics / Re: The Black Africans Who Ruled Europe From 711 To 1789 - Pics by SirShymexx: 11:59am On Apr 21, 2017
Great topic and I did see a few pics and names that I have never seen before, hence I decided to post. History is always interesting and knowledge is infinite.

Anyway, in as much as the moors should always be celebrated for the huge role they played in black history, despite how they have almost made them white when there were no white people in Africa at that point in history (Berbers just started turning white/brown less than 200 years ago and a lot of Berbers are still black) - they're also culpable in the rise of white people, their total domination of the world, and what black people are going through today. The moors failed to do what the Greeks did to the Persians, hence the foray into Africa by Europeans. And the ones who returned to the continent destroyed Songhay and Timbuktu, while a lot of the ones who stayed in Europe were either sold into slavery, or were some of the sailors used for the slave ships. Ditto all the atlas used during that period, which were moorish atlas.

Regardless, we just have to acknowledge their greatness and contributions to world history, especially the renaissance because without them, Europe might still be in the dark ages and there won't be anything called, Western civilisation.

Big ups to Horus and the frenemy, Rossike.
