I had to chip into this because the story reckon with me as i would be 30 next february.

All is not rosy and we are facing and confronting daily challenge as they come. With prospect of graduating with B.Tech @26, the nigeria school system internal and external conflict made it 28. Reason for that? Your guess is as good as mine.

With NYSC rounded up in march this year, for the first time, I realised the fear I have always anticipated in my final year. The fear of the labour market. The nigeria labour market is competitive that age discrimination had to set in.

I dont think any of us enjoy staying with our parent after that freedom and privacy we enjoyed in Nysc. But the reality, odd and logistics of surviving out there is very slim on your own.

So to those who see guys staying in their parents house as lazy or timid need to know its a different stroke for different folks. You don't judge a man by the number of times he falls down, what matter most is how many times he rise up.

Linkedin is cool but not a guarantee to get a job. Sometimes its just grace. And settling for less to kick start a career instead of staying idle. But I believe with skills in IT and cut out experience, we can pass this hirdle of unemployment.

People don’t get hired because we have too many people chasing a job and we have highest rate of unemployment in the world .
Also graduate internship is almost non existence in Nigeria, employers in Nigeria love people with experience and this is a disadvantage to our youth out of higher institutions.

So on point. Its unfortunate especially for those of us in engineering profession. Those in financial sector are given training as a trainee. You rarely see engineering trainee job out there. And they expect you to come with 3 years experience when you are outbof job for years.

Finished NYSC in march.

So I went for an interview at otta, in ogun state as a fresh graduate of engineer. One of those FMCG company, a local one at that.
After the interview, the interviewer said he was looking for experience person that clearly I am not experience.

So he promised to recruit me anyway and mentor me in
machines maintenance and repairs while I work at the production floor as an operator and that my take home salary would be 40k without any allowances but accommodation would be provided. I must add that I stay far away lagos Badagry.

Should I take this job?
