This is one of the reason this life is not just balance. Selfishness has eaten deep into human system.

Take a look at all these people advising the government against school opening;
The go out on daily basis and have contact with different people.
Their sectors are opened for business and those that work in private company are earning salary while teachers and lecturer in private institution that teach their children are suffering with no govt intervention. This same parents will still want the best teacher to tutor their children oo.

If the whole nation is still under lockdown, will they say the same thing? Will they advice the govt to continue with the lockdown without earning for 2 months?

The fact is no one is safe anymore from the virus unless you don't go out in the last 3 months and you don't allow any visitors in your home.

Human being are just too selfish.

Public workers are still earning salary while other graduate that work in private schools are suffering.

If school open today, both teachers and students are the one at risk and those teachers too are children of someone. So they should not make it look like it's only their children at risk.
Yeah we're now in a very difficult situation. No amount of 'just do this and you'll be safe' is enough. And herd immunity isn't happening anytime soon sad

My questions is if corona virus doesn't fade away before the end of the year, what will happen then? Will school activities be scrapped for the year and all students receive receive promotion. What is going to happen if we have a worst case scenario and it extends to next year?
I mean it's not like it's beyond Nigeria to have grounded academic activities for that long . Though it's a bad idea for us to just wait for a vaccine that might never come.

When countries in Europe, America, Asia are easing their lockdown, that’s where you see Nigeria resonating her voice to locking down ironically her most vital sector( though not vital but least, through taking a thorough check on management, funding, policies, structures etc). It is appalling that the most crowded zone (Market) is opened without following laid down rules while schools are shut. It is more egregious that the makers of law are the breakers of same laws. And it is most unthinkably wicked that the government rather than providing palliatives for her citizens denied them of such but created daunting task of suffering to her citizens through taxations. The same government is without blueprint on how to combat this pandemic or scamdemic (according to individual’s belief) and is now telling her citizens that their “survival is now in their hands”. Oh! Lord. My pipu, make nnah try sheta nnah sef o! Nigerian government doesn’t give a Bleep if you live or die as long as money comes in into the national purse.

Protect yourself!
Those are countries that actually managed their situation and got control of their curves. Nigeria isn't close to being there yet.

So all these associations are saying that we should wait for the coast to be clear for us to reopen schools?..

So the question is, when exactly would the coast be clear?... And how do they plan on clearing the coast?

Even by September, our livescore would still be reading 300+ per day.. So what's the point again? undecided

Just try and put protocols in place for the Reopening and not waiting for the number of case to reduce before Declaring the coast a clear one.. The coast cannot be cleared and that was evident in the Lockdown.. And if we are waiting for the coast to be cleared, then nah 2021 we dey look so.
it's not that simple. To me it's not necessarily about the coast being clear but reaching a comfort zone. Nigeria is finding it hard to handle the present situation, talkless of handling clusters of school outbreaks. Our government has either gotten confused or they've simply passed the baton to us concerning covid.

Universities should be closed indefinitely while polytechnics can resume. Polytechnics are not fun environments hence social distancing is observed but universities may not be able to manage the situation.

Polytechnics should be used as a testing ground for the possibility of virus spread in campuses.

The state governments are in charge of the health security of the states. Ncdc just guides and assists while providing additional support if needed.

And you just hold press briefings and give them mild scolding and it ends there? undecided. Many of our politicians don't have certificate so how can they take education seriously.
Not when the rates of infection is still high

Ekiti state could either be doing something right or they are not doing enough testing. They were the first few states that recorded cases in Nigeria as far back March yet their number of cases is very low compared to other states that joined the league recently.
Nah they're probably not testing especially with this full blown community transmission happening nationwide. Even zamfara discharged all their covid patients and stopped reporting cases undecided. I challenge all states to start testing like Lagos then we'll see undecided

For NCDC to make us believe these fucking figures they keep updating on a daily basis, why can’t they just walk in to those designated isolation centers which they claimed to hv put in place and do a video or take a pictures of d people in there? And if they chose not to expose the face or the identity of infected persons to d public probably by keeping them away from stigmatization, they can either blur their face or totally block their face.By doing dis,I think people will actually take it to be true.
We’ll scale through by God’s grace.
NCDC isn't in charge of the isolation centres undecided. I agree with you on providing more details on this cos this daily figures alone have gotten useless.

You are a very keen observer too. I have been watching Bangledash, Saudi Arabia, Argentina, Qatar, Colombia, Egypt and DA, these are new comers to the 1,000 league and they seem to have remained, a function of sustained testing effort, unlike Nigeria.

Hmm... I also don't know what is going on in Africa that the cases are relatively low, but have you taken some time to contrast us with India? Same population size and socio-economic factors. Please look into it coz I see you're good with numbers.
Like trump said no testing, no cases grin. We aren't testing as much as other continents and I want to believe as far back as when the outbreak began Africa didn't really see a huge influx of tourists thereby limiting the level of spread initially. And right now some African states don't feel it's time for mass testing(probably what suits them best).

Africa records highest deaths in the last 24hours 303 and highest new cases also 9,000+, just as the world surpasses 8m confirmed cases. Europe now has control over the pandemic, but the Americas are still struggling. Africa has to wake up, the figures emerging are not looking good - Cameroon recording 64 deaths and 1,183 new cases today alone! A country of just some 26m almost 8 times smaller than Nigeria! South Africa too not doing well going by their fatality data and emergence of new cases. These all cannot be scam!
South Africa's case seems to be a result of people not taking caution or they lost the window to actually test cos I don't see why they have carried out 1 million tests and it looks like they're just starting

Because people were going out to look for food and money. But government should provide food and money, nobody will going out and this will reduce the spreading.
Nah it won't work. Lockdown only took place for like the first week. And with the windows of opportunities we had to stem the rate of spread wasted and states not seeing anything wrong with surging cases we're in for it. Worst of all is still our testing lipsrsealed. Check out data from the most populated countries in the world and check out Nigeria, you'll see where where I'm heading at.
