Investnow2017: SirWarlock, Did you notice that the world recorded it's HIGHEST daily tally of new Coronavirus cases yesterday; a whopping 142,000+ with India alone registering over 2000+ deaths in 24hours, followed by Brazil with over 37,000+ new cases in one day plus 1,338 deaths. It may have eased somewhat in Europe but the Americas are reaping deadly harvests too. And Africa records are not looking good too. There is a spike in death rates and spread of infection. The raining season in Africa at this time! We all need to take personal responsibility. The figures in India and Brazil were at a time low, but not so now I hear you. Latin America, India and Russia are really powering the numbers. At this point governments have left it to the people now, either you're lucky and not contract or you're lucky and only have mild symptoms or you're unlucky with moderate or severe symptoms and become a stat. I've said it that till we know how the virus behaves when it's not being transmitted from person to person the world won't be safe from it. In terms of Africa, like the saying goes 'E go be' . I don't want to imagine how the first full year of 2020 concerning |

simplesearch: Beats my imagination why a Nation like ours can't feed it's citizen for just a few months so that the pandemic can be curtail and contain. IF the Govt had kept everyone at home like they did but with palliatives and substantial support couple with massive testing, by now we had gone a long way in tackling this scourge already. Historically, The effect of the second wave of a pandemic always exceed the first, I hope we don't get anywhere near there? I hope our leaders get things right for once. But we're not through the first wave na . How would we even know when the first wave is over . I don't even know what the rest of the year will be like but I can feel our covid issue still being the same if not worse. |

urchcoded: the WHO initially said one is contagious even without showing symptoms of the virus. But just recently after the massive protests in the US the WHO was questioned and they now retracted and said one is only contagious when one starts showing symptoms and gets sick.
I'm sure nobody is being honest about this virus. And we are all being fooled one way or the other The US are still very much in this problem only that a large number of people don't care again. Can't say I blame them they've gone through the worst concerning covid. I think they only said it's rare cos new study from researchers say asymptomatic people(no symptoms at all) are not contagious afree a few days. So maybe that means during your short could be contagious period chances of you producing droplets containing the virus are low? IDK we'll probably unravel a lot more about this virus |

chiol: Keep passing bulk and not protect yourself. If we obeyed the NCDC directives, the first two weeks lockdown would have taken care of this mess but people kept blaming and even claiming it was a scam, thereby refusing to keep to the directives.
May God save us! Eh so many things were responsible, so corona spreading was inevitably going to happen in Nigeria. Only way to have taken care of this then would have been testing every single person in Lagos and other states which is frankly ridiculous and downright impossible and actually be strict with the interstate lockdown. |

urchcoded: Either the WHO and all health agencies don't understand the mode of spread of this virus or they are lying to the masses. If this virus truly spreads by droplets of an infected person getting into the mouth, eyes or nose of an uninfected person then there is no way it would be spreading this fast. Reason am analytically. This spread looks more like if you come in contact with an infected person you contact it immediately. I think we don't know for sure how it truly spreads. But since it's another corona virus it should spread the way they usually do right? My own question is what's the replication of the virus like ie when one contracts the virus, is that same person contagious immediately or . I've said it that till we truly know how this virus operates the whole world won't be free unless of course a vaccine arrives. |

Joefat: I had this friend as a doctor in one of the hospital in Lagos, he said why we have must cases in Nigeria is because, any nurse or hospital that reported one Covid 19 patient are entitled to 20k per patient and if you have one Covid 19 death in your hospital, you're entitled to 100k per one Covid 19 patient.. this benefits are directly from FG.. but I don't know how true this was.. Haha I see you've been watching those Anthony fauchi conspiracy videos . Problem with this is government can't possibly settle all the doctors in the country for it not to leak and and wasn't ncdc supposed to be the one cashing out? |

DamZik: Covid419: Scamdemic, Plandemic or Scamplandemic?
-- We can mingle during the day but there is curfew at night. Does the virus sleep during the day?
-- You open markets but close schools. Is market imuned to the virus?
-- Washing hands, using facemask, social distancing, stay at home, etc. If one works, why asking us to practice all these inside the house of God.
-- There are about 10k 'active cases' of covid419 patients in Nigeria. Where and where did they keep them?
-- Since we must copy the Western countries in everything except in giving palliatives. Now that their figures are decreasing, why is our own increasing?
My take: there is no more Covid19 but Covid419. Polithiefcians and ever corrupt civil servants should please continue to steal our commonwealth but release us to struggle for our daily bread. We are not depending on government for anything whatsoever. Thank you. The numbers are still going up worldwide |

Come to think of it, if it can save one out of every five on life support, then it can prevent and stop people from getting to life support in the first place.

Investnow2017: Well let me attempt a response, just hoping you find it a bit of any value As of today India is said to host a population of 1.3billion, just somewhat higher than Africa which is estimated to be 1.2billion. Both lands share a tropical climate, though northern India is said to be a little temperate, and both have had the malaria experience likely falling back to the same antimalarial medication. Not much is known though about both lands immunity properties, although that of Africa can be said to be a bit improved due to our mainly organic food consumption habits. That said, both lands encountered the Coronavirus pandemic about early March with India reporting 14 cases on the 15th of March and Africa skeletal figures as well. However, by April 15th, India tallied over 800 new cases far ahead of Africa which was still struggling with understanding what control measures to emphasize. By June 15th, India had recorded 343,026 confirmed cases from over 5.4m tests executed, while Africa tallied 254,214 confirmed cases from some 2.3m tests. While the death rates in India stood at 9,915 as of June 15th, Africa's stood at 6,793. A skim at the data before me shows that India has some 8,944 cases in the category of serious or critical while Africa has just 517 cases that are critical. This data would probably explain why India has registered more deaths than Africa. But of note is the fact that India has registered more recoveries than Africa. As of June 15th while India recoveries stood at 180,464 out of their 343,000 confirmed cases, Africa recovery is just 116,730 of the 254,000 confirmed cases. What this tells me is that India has a better handle in managing this pandemic than Africa, and this may not be unassociated with their accelerated testing efforts. Like I mentioned earlier, accelerated testing helps to speedily curb this virus which has the capacity to spread widely and wildly too. From the data you can see that with 5.5m tests executed within this short period of March and mid June, India has carried out twice the number of tests Africa has been able to accomplish. Apart from South Africa, Ghana and Morocco, other African countries are yet to test up to even 1% of their population, Nigeria being the worst in this category. Ramping up of tests remains an effective way to keep the pandemic under control this is what Europe has done and they are already enjoying the positive results. Nigeria's handling of this pandemic to me appears too bureaucratic. NCDC was supposed to maintain a line structure over and above the states it being a federal agency to go into states and do their job without having to rely on states for collecting samples etc. Much of Africa would have to resign to fate to live with the virus rather than depending on any hope of eliminating the contagion from our society, a feat which even well organized societies find quite challenging to accomplish. Did you notice that New Zealand that celebrated being Covid-19 free just last week is now back on the chart again today? Iran that flattened their curve weeks ago is contemplating another lockdown because the death rate is increasing once again. China too has had parts of their capital locked down as new cases have emerged. Africa does not have the capacity to eliminate the virus without a vaccine - that is the bitter truth, because the resources and the crisis management acumen involved is enormous and will sure impact negatively on the meagre available resources. But will the death rate in Africa climb? My main concern is that immunity gets compromised with poor nutrition, and here we are mainly vulnerable - because the reality of hunger is more pronounced in the minds of our folks than the threat which the virus poses. I fear that even if the cases climb, any further restrictions that would threaten the freedom of people to access means of livelihood will be resisted - folks believe there are more death dealing diseases than Coronavirus - the common conclusions of the average African in the lower class. And I see governments kowtowing to this resistance to restrictions to relax all forms of control measures not because they care but because many high placed Africans can then be able to access medicare overseas. This is where Africans will largely differ from the Indians going forward because the latter have more sophisticated healthcare delivery system than Africa, except maybe South Africa. Hope I have made some sense Very great analysis once again bro. You deserve a wider audience not just comments you find on the first page nowadays |
