mrkings84: The last time I heard the news, covid 19 was still a deadly and highly contagious virus with no cure in place. So if u say no state is free of the virus then u are trying to tell us that all the figures u've been dishing out are fake.
What will it take the fg to establish testing labs in all the state after 4 months of receiving billions of naira to fight the virus? If a state say they don't have d virus, and they are not dying mysterious deaths, then they don't have it. Why do you want to impose a virus on People audiorically? What will it take for States to establish it themselves? . |

Health › Re: What Do You Think Of Covid19? by SirWarlock: 8:13am On Jun 23, 2020 |
Purplebubble: The problem starts when you look at the news, the target is to instill fear in the masses but nigerians are getting wiser. the same covid 19 that's killing over 1000 people in a day in civilized countries came into Nigeria and stated killing less than 30 people, lol. Is Nigeria more civilized or we have better health care system? Let me tell you covid 19 is just Like malaria, same sypmtoms. I know a lot of people last month that have had same sypmtoms of covid 19 loss of smell and taste, running nose, cold, high fever etc they all thought it was typhoid and malaria, they self medicated and they are all well now. So covid19 in Nigeria is not as deadly as the media makes it look. I hope the world does not leave nigeria behind b4 They finally open everywhere. People are hungry, insecurities everywhere and people are tired. They should just stop giving covid19 too much attention and focus more on other things like job creation before the country hits worse recession okay doctor. And the other people who may be vulnerable to it? Or you think everybody will share the exact same symptoms? To put it in the Nigerian perspective if you suspect malaria or fever which isn't new to you, you could self medicate while keeping in mind there's also a disease out there that presents with same symptoms. Now if the person ever recovers, would he/she try to isolate? No they'll spread it more and only call for help when the situation gets worse. Unless you're a 'who cares people die, no need to act on this one person' You think other countries had it easy for them? Countries are having their worst economic downturns in over how many years and had to find a way to balance that and the health of their people. IMO socio-economically you can't compare the effects where Europe, US and other countries were on strict lockdown for two months to Nigeria with just two states and where it wasn't strict at all. Infact it could be said to be on paper. What I'm saying is the precautions aren't that hard, they simple ie masks, avoid all forms of travel and gatherings if possible, if you suspect you have it, call for testing especially if your initial self medication isn't working. |

You think I rate this people well? They can lift it, not like we were ever serious with it in the first place. Be it a scam or not, how hard is it to just take simple precautions . |

Minxie: Also, the symptoms are quite similar to flu symptoms and winter is here. People's immune systems are already weakening because of cold and rainy conditions so they may be more vulnerable to covid 19. If someone has the flu here, people just say it's corona and move on Lol Here cos it shares symptoms with malaria and fever and sometimes treatment involve malaria medications, people say it's ordinary malaria so we have nothing to worry about |

100K cases in South Africa.
https://www.nairaland.com/5944199/south-africa-covid19-cases-hit Well the fact that many people recover has clouded some people from taking taking caution. I'm sure if most high profile people who contracted the virus had passed some people will believe the virus is real. |

Minxie: I live in one of the hotspots and I know several people who have it. luckily most people don't have serious symptoms. I do know 1 person who died though. But I think most people don't care because they aren't really getting seriously sick. Thats the thing cos no one knows what manner of symptoms that will manifest. If people had serious symptoms before they recover maybe a few people would take it more seriously. |

It's the typical Nigerian factor. What has Nigeria ever taken seriously before covid. At this point all states should have had its own testing facility. Imagine 4 months after over 20 states don't have test centres. Government has just shown they're ready for us to be in this mess till the next year. Are Nigerians even ready? Are people willing to get tested? Are they even trying? Why are we acting like the epidemic is over? Why are state governments eg Kogi not allowing ncdc carry out its functions. I can us still recording 600+ daily cases till December. Only issue now is not becoming part of that statistic . So many questions about our covid response that just says we aren't ready. Like how they just drop figures and call it a day, without providing details concerning the numbers. Honestly they should just disband the task force cos it's becoming useless. Everyday just coming to scold stubborn Nigerians |

mikoyo200: God help us...the trend has been above 500 for over a week now, when is the peak and when is the curve flattening? Probably next year or year after. Like it's been said only change in behavioural pattern can stem the virus and it's not just Nigeria, globally too. So all in all either a vaccine or live to be lucky not to contract the virus |
Health › Re: South Africa Covid19 Cases Hit 100,000 - the First in Africa by SirWarlock: 12:04am On Jun 23, 2020 |
TMKsouth: Yep. But the cost factor shouldn't be an issue. For example, in SA, funds were reprioritised from sectors that had shut due to the LOCKDOWN such as schools and sports towards fighting covid. So the money is there.
Burundi's own president held elections during the pandemic and refused to implement a LOCKDOWN - today he's dead because of Covid. Your own Chief-of-Staff succumbed to the virus too. So this whole "it's unafrican" thing is stupid. Most cases in SA and America are of black people. Our governments and citizens should wise up. The world has shifted to natural selection now. Here in Nigeria it's now back to business as usual . If not for the fact that someone contracting could directly affect you, I would say Government should also pretend there's no covid and reopen everything up . Cos there's nothing changing our psyche, not today, not tomorrow. |

TMKsouth: I also can't understand why everyone else doesn't wanna test. Logic informs us the more you test the clearer the picture becomes. This is a clear example of bad leadership. Well probably because of the level of health security before covid. You can't just turn it around overnight i guess. Or another guess would be the 'it's not for africa' rhetoric or probably the cost of testing and controlling the spread. |

Saintinoo: Till today i am still trying to understand why the interstate travel ban is in place when the virus have been comfirmed im 35 states.
Hopefully they want to lock state boarders till next year. Senseless government. I mean as much as people have flouted the rules, you don't just give total freeway for the virus to go to and fro. When that happens can states like kogi still claim they're covid free(which they aren't) |

That's why dey should have dealt with it well during the lockdown of over a month Yeah they should have dealt with it during the half lockdown. Just with our population full blown community spread was always going to happen. I partly blame blame our non uniform fight for the spread now tho. Now schools might not open till next year. |

Lyoncrescent: The volume of testing they are doing now is what should have been done during the lockdown. Now it's uncontrollable. A vicious cycle. I'm one hundred percent sure that even those who test positive stay at home. There's no way Lagos is moving those numbers from their homes to isolation centres on a daily basis . No capacity in any form or manner to execute that . And now they will have problem with asymptomatic patients who won't believe they have it and spread it more |

SmartPolician: Lockdown has outlived its relevance.
What people need is continuous sensitization. Use public address systems to always encourage market women and other traders to observe personal hygiene.
Many people don't believe that coronavirus is real, and the government cannot die for us.
Someone just testified that self medication worked for his friend who had no underlying diseases.
I know this may sound harsh, but someone has to say it. The truth is, the population of Nigeria is too much. And if someone's unbelief will lead to his deaths, so be it. Your last paragraph is kinda true. Though it won't be funny if we head down the same way Brazil and India did due to the same population |
