You can't get on a chopper in GOM without it. I know offshore naija follows similar safety protocols albeit some lapses may occur.

It is not that it is not important. Chopper is the mode of transportation whether by 412 or 308 and have been on this for 13 years now.

If you have a total blackout or you're unconscious then it is understandable but if you have some level of consciousness and survive the ordeal then it is important to give credit to the people who deserve it and not some fellows that didn't pay for your training and didn't know that such training exists.

FYI: you can't access any helico movement to deep offshore or shallow water without being certified unless in some cases where they give waivers and such waivers are for frequent flyers and one time visitors whose BOSIET have expired recently.

FYI I work in an oil field as a contract employee with one of these IOCs and am not BOSIET certified. Those that are certified are not even up to 60%.

Nice write up @ op. That's my next target. I work in one of these IOC's as a contractor employeethough I am a graduate working two weeks and going off for two weeks. Have been here for quite some years hoping one day we wil be staffed which is not forthcoming. The pay of these guys that are welders and fitters is very fat compared to d peanuts we are been payed. Most of them earn about 200k and above and can barely spell their names correctly while we can spell our names with fat certificates but nothing to show for. We dey carry graduate for head.
