If this is the quality of opposition to expect then Nigeria is in trouble, how utterly depressing. Frivolous and disingeuous mind-sets steeped in bigotry and bitterness and without any redeeming philosophy anchored on the hope for a better future for Nigeria. It seems it is more about some misplaced idea of "pay back" than any genuine care for the country. Good luck to you guys, I hope our president doesn't get distracted by such nonsense and focuses on his job. "I belong to everybody and I belong to no-one" - one of the most powerful things any elected official has ever said since the dawn of this new democracy that started in 1999. It is a welcome change. |
So he should be doing the sociological studies while the bombs are going off? The way some people think sometimes, I desperately hope for the sake of Nigeria this is not the quality of opposition to expect for the next four years, the country needs much better. |
Nigeria needs a prudent and pragmatic technocrat to modernise its educational system and as much as I respect Soyinka I don't think that is him, but that is just my opinion. If you said Minister of culture and arts (if there is any such thing and if the country can or should afford it), then perhaps. To write poetry and plays is one thing, to run the ministry in charge of education for the country is another. |
BossAyuk:He obviously can't but is too invested in his bigotry to admit such a statement was not made. Just pity he and his lot, they are still trying to make sense of the new reality. |
Considering we gave PDP 16 failed years, would also expect some level of patience as well in giving this new government a genuine chance at reform. Buhari would be a hero to me if he achives just 50% of what he promised considering previous governments were not even able to achieve 5% . . . As for OP, I question your sincerity considering you were willing to give Jonathan pass mark for not even being able to achieve up to 5% of what he promised (his election promises were well known). Regardless, election has come and gone, we have a new president, it is a new day. Let us give this change a genuine chance like Nigerians gave past ones, is that really too much to ask? |
As long as he governs well. |
Once again there is hope for Nigeria, thank God. P.S. who or what is a Jonathan or a Patience? We have moved on already please. |
sinizia:What a joker you are, but don't worry your folly is out there for all to see. Let me break down the first question to ever be asked in our exchanges which is there for all to see (regardless of your copy and paste nonsense on the first page): Who has been running Nigeria for the last 16 years, has it been APC? Has it been Labour? Has it been AGPA? Did any of these parties set the tone or policies for NNPC, or EFCC, or federal ministries that direct how education, anticorruption fight, etc are run? Did any of these parties appoint IG or have control over the police in a country where the federal government controls the whole police force? Did any of these parties appoint federal ministers or govern over the petroleum ministry or set financial policy for government? Did any of these parties produce commanders-in-chiefs responsible for the army that was meant to be fighting boko haram but ended up having to fight internal military corruption instead? This is why I call you a joker and what a big one you are. |
Taylor86:Quote where he said it or admit you are a bigot, go ahead, I dare you. Quote where he said he would make Jonathan's government ungovernable. |
Vikkiboi:The man hasn't made sense in six years in government, it is less than 24hours to handover that he will start making sense? |
SHARIAREPORTERS:God forbid! |
sinizia:Answer the simple question. Which party has been leading Nigeria for the past 16 years? Or are state governments now in charge of federal ministries which set the policies and tone for NNPC, EFCC, etc? You see why I say you are myopic? |
sinizia:Which party has been leading the country for the past 16 years? So which other government should he probe, Labour government? AGPA? When people call you myopic and childish now you will vex, you can't simply see evil and call it evil, and I bet you have relatives suffering the mismanagement of the country if you are not directly suffering it yourself, yet you are too shortsighted to see the connection between that and the choices you continue to make. |
I can't wait to see the back of this man. Till the very end he remains an incompetent narcissist. The whole world is always conspiring against him to prevent him from applying critical thinking or solutions to problems. Please carry your excuse generating self back to your village, we want a man who can make good decisions and take responsibility for the consequences. |
CriticalThought:Enlighten us please. What are the inaccuracies? |
"Peace-loving Global Citizen Award"? Never heard of it, must be some village prize. |
Not in their current state no. They are too used to stealing and chop-I-chop politics, and Nigerians are taking away the keys to the treasury in three days time. The only thing/philosophy that bound such a disparate group of crooks together was money and now the money is going to be greatly reduced. In their current form they will wither, but this is a good thing. |
MusaIbrahim1:No, president elect is president elect. The current president is still Jonathan, and with a few days to go he is still trying to beat his record of incompetency and is running the country to the ground. Besides who cares if red carpet is rolled out for Buhari or not as long as his country people like and appreciate him? The Jonathan that was getting red carpet everywhere is now a disgrace even to his people, everyone has disownded him. So at the end of the day what value did something as frivolous as a red carpet contribute to his life or the nation which he was meant to serve? Continue with your pettiness you wear it well, I actually confused you for a three year old. |
He is in the group, but to be fair it is a big group. Nigeria has had a history of crappy leaders. The main disappointment is that with all the goodwill he started with he turned out to be just like all the other ones and in some respects worse. |
Oklander:I like that title. Ivan the terrible, Jonathan the great mistake. |
new2020:Who is in charge of the country right now? . . . . . |
So you are telling me with all the people there nobody could take picture of the officers in question and post to shame them? Indiscipline in the army and police seriously needs to be tackled and Jonathan did nothing about it on a grassroot level, his government even encouraged the impunity. |
LOOOOOL, how very convincing. The same handwriting on all the signs. At the very least that man should be investigated. |
Jonathan has to be probed. So so debt everywhere when he ingerited credit. |
Kx:O boy that is unecessary rant, it doesn't change the fact that what is pictured up there is NOT a mass protest. Go ahead and count hundred people in those pictures. |
This is NOT "mass protest". Can you even count up to 100 people? |
Goodboiyy:I don't think you know what it means to have a rich society. What percentage of the entire population live in those mansions? The way some people talk some times, it is very irritating. Nigeria as a whole is one poor country, you are coming online to do village champion chest beating. |
If it is proving unproductive and the present government ministeries are not co-operating then what is he doing there? I actually agree with his approach - bring handover notes then we can discuss, if not what are discussing about? |
16 years rot Obasanjo, 16 years rot. You were part of that very rot. |

BS!!
