His investigation is supported, what did the ministry of Niger Delta achieve after all the money it got? The funny thing is you can't probe that ministry properly without a trail leading back to Patience Jonathan. This is going to be interesting if done properly. And anybody from the Niger Delta that shouts "witch hunting" is an idiot, the man oversaw a ministry that was set up for the development of the region.

Then you are ignorant. Nigeria is a poor country, which is what makes corruption of past governments when oil was selling at record levels even more unforgivable. Go and compare Nigeria's budget with ordinary South Africa's budget, a country that has already built most of its basic infrastructure. You people don't know what it means to be a rich country.

Tribalism is a mental disease. The irony of its biggest offenders is they somehow see themselves as better than the people for whom they hold their bigotry.

There is a more mature and larger discussion to be had on the quality of education in Nigeria.

You are a first rate bigot, that's all. Buhari is equal to Shekau and Abacha and Indi Amin how and why? Because he is a Muslim from the north? I know you would come back and try to be intelligent with your rubbish, go ahead and give it a shot. And I bet PDP and Jonathan are Mother Theresa, keep speaking as if you never left the bush.

Despite those election results cancelled, the jega election was the best election in the history of this country.

And that is the point. It is only a testament to how bad the elections of the past have been, that's all. Hopefully the country can continue to build on this issue, and a giant step in the right direction would be a prosecution and jailing of people involved in electoral malpractise of the last elections.

What concerns me with Buhari? Well, I stand for Good governance and bringing people to justice for whatever offence they allegedly commit irrespective or political, ethnic or religious affiliation. Unlike your kind, I'm not a zombie supporter of party that doesn't know where to draw the line between interest of the country's citizens and partisanship. My support for Saraki's prosecution(which I have always maintained) is not for the sake of Buhari, but for the sake of Nigeria masses that Saraki impoverished with his loot.

Now tell me, what do you stand for?

You are a coward, I saw the original comment - "This will be a litmus test for Buhari's fight against corruption". Your case is hopeless.

What is the point of having technology if we don't use it? All that electronic fingerprinting that was done, was it for nothing? Go to the ballots and scan the finger prints again, it's not difficult all this talk of pasting result sheets mean nothing. How can you have low turn out and be getting the results that were announced in Rivers State? Just silly. No need to argue this thing, APC was asking for the casted ballots to be examined from day one, why was the state INEC soooooo against this?

Imagine Tony Blair or David Cameron giving ultimatums to Scottish leaders on Scottish independence?

Buhari is so backward he needs to come off his civil war mentality and start thinking like a modern Nigerian democratic President.

I as an Igbo man do not believe the proponents of cessation will win a referendum in the East on the subject if genuine devolution and implementation of the last confab report is put on the table as an alternative.

Rather than the silly tough talk which adds no value to Nation building let the Presidency and APC think outside the box and work towards a more perfect union!

Fashola is an APC man, he is an advocate of devolution or true federalism. Let APC channel the debate in that direction.

Igbos are known to own businesses and landed properties in other regions outside their own than any other tribe. Perhaps Igbos have more vested interest in the unity of Nigeria than any other tribe! Let's have a referendum and a vote and people will realise that majority of Igbos will stay in Nigeria with a promise for devolution.

If I own a business in Lagos or Kano, I doubt I will like to wake up one morning to be designated an immigrant and require a visa to continue my business just because of Biafra. But like I say more hearts and mind will be won if devolution or true federalism is on offer!

Think, honestly think. Asked to name Igbo leaders, does Nnamdi Kanu or Uwazurike come to mind? Has anybody heard or seen a true Igbo leader of thought at the vanguard of the current quest for Biafra?

Nnamdi Kanu and his IPOB are free to pursue any aspirations in a free society so long as they do so peacefully, it is up to Nigeria to silence this group through providing superior ideas and alternatives rather than alienating the rest of the majority of silent Igbos!

They did, it was called an in/out referendum. The rest of your rant for a piece of news that doesn't even have a verifiable source is unecessary.

But the outcome of the Rivers election represents the will of majority of Rivers people!

And you know this because? Remember this! If Jonathan wanted to be in power at all cost there is nothing APC would have done about it. PDP worked hard to modify itself and the system to a society where votes count and mean something.

APC wants to retrogress this country by 20years just because they want to consolidate power at all cost!

I did not say APC should choose the opposition I was calling on Nigerians to do that, so please spare us the false outrage.

You lack basic common sense and are clearly afraid to call a spade a spade. COLONIALISM IS PART OF OUR HISTORY WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT. The very reason you are a Nigerian is because of colonialism. We have made progress BECAUSE we got rid of colonialism, or else we would be still massively underdeveloped today, going by the impotence of our colonial rulers, who did virtually nothing by way of developing this country. So we thank God for our independence. Why people would sell their votes for a cup of rice? Because of poverty, ignorance, and greed. These are all attributes of state dysfunctionality. We are a dysfunctional state, like most nations on earth. That dysfunctionality arises from our history as a recently independent state with historical challenges. Your reasoning is like a child's. Your desire is to pretend we have no history, and that all nations started off on a clean, equal slate. That warped thinking then gives you leeway to conclude that the fault for our current underdevelopment must lie in our genes. I am here preventing you from reaching such asinine conclusions, which is why you are upset, albeit couching it in fake rational-speak.

Thank you from preventing me from reaching such "asinine conclusions" which I am yet to reach, but you obviously know my thoughts better than I do it seems. Now when you are done with your amusing rants on history of colonialism (which we all agree should not be ignored), educate us at what point the country should start taking responsibility for it's underdevelopment. I will not assume you would reach such an asinine conclusion that proposes we have no responsibility, no I will give you the courtesy of arriving at your own thoughts and perhaps read them tomorrow.

What a child.

Do you think ''better leadership and governance'' drops from the sky? Or you think people are born with it? Nigeria is where it is at because of its HISTORY. Or are you saying God created us differently from other people? If so, then you are delving in the waters of esoteric superstition, inferiority complex and tomfoolery.

Where a nation stands at any moment is where its history has placed it. If there was bad governance, it was because of our history. We were lumped together, various ethnicities, almost deliberately to fail. Consequently we suffered civil wars, coups, military rule, nepotism, tribalism etc etc. Our 50 years or so of independence have not been enough time to correct those dysfunctionalities. Which is why we are still a developing nation. These are NATURAL effects of how we arose out of history. Things do not just happen. They happen for a reason. People like you just look at Brazil, or maybe Germany, and just think, ''Why can't we be like them? Something must be wrong with us!'' Is Germany's history the same as yours? Is Brazil's history the same as yours? Is Japan's history the same as yours?

It IS inferiority complex if you are unwilling to examine the reasons for your nations' situation in a rational manner that doesn't assume that something is inherently wrong with the people of your country, or your race.

Spare yourself the pain of conjecturing on what "people like me" think and focus on the points raised. I did not mention Germany or Japan or other such countries so why the headache? I did not say we should ignore history so again no need for that patronising and totally unecessary essay on the importance of history. I did not say something is inherently "wrong" with Nigerians so again, spare me the sermon it is tiring and unoriginal. I only pointed out what I still stand by, that with better government (which you have been so kind enough to teach us doesn't fall from the sky), Nigeria would be much more developed than it is. The country has missed opportunities for progress and that has had a huge impact on the level of underdevelopment we see, and no it isn't solely down to colonialism. I am sure if people go out next election cycle and sell their votes for a cup of rice you would solely blame it on colonialism. I just don't share your own brand of patriotism which says take no responsibility for your actions and blame everything on colonialism (in big text while you're at it).

Oil only counts for anything if you have a tiny population like UAE or Kuwait. Else it really means nothing. 170 million people in Nigeria export less oil and have less oil reserves than UAE with a population of 9 million. That is why UAE can have a 'Dubai', and everyone there can ride a mercedes. What Nigeria needs to do (and IS doing) is diversify her income sources, as the oil receipts, even without corruption, are negligible when we consider our huge population. And, sorry, you MUST mention colonialism or you're being ignorant. Every nation has a history, which influences its current state. If colonialism is part of that history, it has to be discussed, or you're being ignorant.

And there you go again with the condescending tone. Did not say ignore colonialism, said poor governance and bad leadership has had a major role to play with the lvel of underdevelopment in Nigeria, and not everything should be blamed on colonialism.

But oil does make a difference. Not as much as in countries with small populations true, but still consider that majority of government spending is from oil money and you understand the point being made, heck you're even making my point for me by going on about diversificastion. Nigeria has not taken advantages of the the opportunities it has had in the past, a lot of wasted opportunities has meant the country is nowhere as developed as it could have been under better leadership and governance, so how does that tally up with your posturing that implies colonialism is the only reason the country is not as developed?

You also need to stop confusing people's understandable disappointments at the nation's progress and the way they might express that disappointment with inferiority complex. It is patronising.

What is so special about Indonesia? They are where Nigeria will be in the next 7-10 years or so. ''Indonesia's estimated gross domestic product (nominal), as of 2014, was US$887 billion. Nominal per capita GDP was US$3,518''. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indonesia

Nigeria's figures in comparison are $520 billion and $2,750 respectively.

Dude there is mass poverty in Indonesia. Brazil same thing. Those nations just gained independence a couple of decades earlier than Nigeria, so have had more time to build their countries. Plus they had more investment in them during their colonial era, unlike Nigeria where everything was at zero level till independence.

You MUST look ''under the hood'' of EVERY country, to know its history before BLINDLY comparing them to Nigeria. Anything else makes you IGNORANT.

There is massive poverty in China as well so that statement serves little purpose. Yes some of these countries gained independence before Nigeria, but not all the countries mentioned are one of the world's largest exporters of oil, so no I still don't buy the whole 'it is all because of colonialism' idealogy. Investment and infrastructure is not static and can be built on or started from scratch, many countries have shown this.

It's not a question of whether you agree or not. FACT is that South Africa started getting developed as early as the 1850s by the colonialists. Nigeria only began to see real development from 1960 onwards. After independence. THAT'S A FACT. There is no debate about it. Our first power station was Kainji Dam commissioned in 1968. South Africa's first power stations? Do a Google and all you'll see is dates starting from the 1880s.

As for the Asian Tigers. The ONLY reason we have those 4 Asian Tiger economies is that after WW2 the victorious allied nations decided to create a buffer in Asia against rampaging communism led by the victorious Soviet Union. This they did by creating 4 capitalist bulwarks which they funded, invested in heavily, and opened their markets to, in an unprecedented drive to enthrone capitalism.

The artificiality of the situation is easily shown by comparing the 4 tigers to their neighbours. South Korea is a different world from neighbouring Nepal, a third world hellhole. Singapore might as well be on a different planet from neighbouring Burma, a third world hellhole. Hong Kong is a world away from neighbouring Cambodia, a third world hellhole. Taiwan is a different planet from Laos, Vietnam etc. These SE Asian nations are racially, ethnically, and culturally identical, yet their living standards vary wildly. That shows you there is externally influenced artificiality in the economic advancement of the 4 Tiger nations vis a vis the rest.

And what about countries like Indonesia or Brazil?

Wasn't disputing the fact of early development in SA compared with Nigeria, simply stating that I don't think it is credible anymore to keep using that as an excuse for the level of underdevelopment Nigeria currently is in. And I stand by it.

PS - You don't need big letters to make a point.

We have a bigger economy right, but where is the physical manifestation of that big economy sad if basic infrastructure are not even available angry

This new generation in Africa really need to understand economics is a theory developed my humans which like every man made item has its limitations. If you are smarter you will understand there is a difference between what you earn and the purchasing power of what you earn.

Where is the power in our big economy when Nigeria is so backward?

Isn't it time we stop brandishing IMF voodoo economics of huge data and statistics that has no impact on the people.

What I am telling you, when you look at the real economy of Nigeria and SA and compare per capital income of its citizens, SA is way ahead of Nigeria and you can throw the paper statistics to the dustbins.

Guy. Stop. You are back tracking now and taking different tangents. Your original post clearly implied that evidence of Nigeria having a bigger economy than SA were fraudulent and false. You have been corrected, let us move on. If you want to have a different discussion on quality of life and GDP per capita, then that is a different issue. But just for the record, Nigeria has a bigger economy than SA.
