barcanista: Point of Correction Sir, I wasn't dogmatic with respect to GEJ. I lost confidence in the alternative with respect to their plans and sincerity. So you thought it was better to continue with the same failed president and failed party of the past 16 years than giving an alternative group a chance? Anyway, everyone is entitled to their choice, I was just curious because the logic you espoused in your criticism of Orubebe now, seemed non-existent before. |

barcanista: My position on Jonathan has been very clear with respect to his performance or otherwise in office. For someone who it hasn't been clear to, then why the dogmatic defence and insistence of his continuation in power pre-election even in the face of evidence of corruption, impunity and poor performance? |
Politics › Re: Ijaw People Must Return To Fishing –orubebe by SkyBlue1: 9:31am On May 25, 2015 |
barcanista: People like Elder Orubebe should understand that Ijaw people are no fools. YES, we are fighting to end the fraudulent system that disfavors us but it doesn't mean we are blind to see other of our problems. Orubebe Sir, how many road network did you build as Minister of State for Niger Delta Affair (2008-2010) and Minister of Niger Delta Affair 2010-2014? Please, relax where you are and stop preaching "marginalisation". You were in government, you had the power to push then end of it but because of your own interest you remained like all is well.
@Topic: how do you expect us to fish when our waters have been polluted and fishes are going extinct? We shall continue to advocate for what is ours and end to marginalisation. If the State want us to fish, then they have to backoff from our waters so we can fish. The first thing you have EVER EVER said that made sense. Maybe it was an accident, maybe there is hope I don't know. I just wish you had cast that same lens of objectivity over Jonathan himself and ask him what his administration did for the region or Nigeria in general apart from his wife fighting with governors. |

Only goes to highlight the utter arrogance of PDP. They could not ever forsee the slightest possibility of defeat in the figments of their wildest dream that they are so taken aback by the request for handover notes. They were so shocked of defeat after 16 years of underperformance, what kind of arrogance is that? May Nigeria never know such a party again in leadership in my lifetime. |

If Kashamu gets to America, he would be tried and if he's not guilty, he would be set free. That's what happened to Lanre Shittu in Baltimore, Maryland. I have been living in Chicago for decades and you don't want to get me started about Kashamu. Well known heroine dealer on the North Side of Chicago. His days as a free man are numbered. The long arms of Uncle Sam will finally get him. General Noriega of panama was a good example. That is pushing it to me, travel more |

HiGod: It's pretty sad to know that people like you and your likes(Just like the useless Chief (s) who sold other black to slavery back in d days) still live among us in Africa.
It's saddening when hear Africans saying all sort of rubbish about Africa continent in the presence of white people who loathe them within their souls. Africans ll continue to serve white masters as long as people like these still remain among us.
What is justice in America when a white guy gets less sentence than a black guy who committed the same crime. What is a justice in a country where Cheney and George Bush JNR still live up till date despite all their war crime in Iraq? What is a justice in a country where they openly kill their fellow human beings simply cos he is black and cover their back.
The only police man being tried for the murder of a black was covered by the same system in US until a video surfaced. They have done everything to hide it until the video surface.
Injustice has taken over America system to the point that as soon as a police man approaches a citizen most especially the black Americans, they reach for their phone cameras as quickly as they could so as to record every details of their interactions with police even if the police man is merely looking for a direction to unknown place. That is how bad the whole US system you slave are praising.
Go on YouTube and see the same US justice system you are praising. Lives had been ruined by the same US justice system by sending people to life imprisonment without enough evidence but only for the lucky ones among the guys to be released from prison when new evidence came up after 30yrs in prison.
America prosecutors are ready to rope you in as long as their targets are meant every months. It's pretty hard for US prosecutor to let you go when you mistakenly come under their radar for nothing. They would do everything within their enormous power and resources given to them to get you convicted cos it boosts their profile.
Britain repatriated one of her citizens to US and the whole country kicked against it. They claimed that their own should be tried in their own soil.
There is no sovereignty when another country could take away your citizens at will and send these citizens to an environment where there no access to their immediate family and harshest sentence on earth; the Philippines kill convicted drug trafficker once but America kill these guys with ridiculous years (25 to 40yrs) in Prison.
Nigeria is a country and allow our justice system to evolve like every justice system around the world. The early will start to stand against this double standard of America, d better for us as a Nation.
He is a victim today, who knows what tomorrow has for you? You might be a victim then.... I think you are being a bit oversentimental in the way that has been destructive to Nigeria in the past. You are so easily adjudging the accused of innocence and victimisation based on the simple fact that he is Black and Nigerian, and I don't see any rationality in that. At the end of the day it would be good for this case to be gotten to the bottom of considering this is potentially a serving senator. American justice system is not perfect, but I trust it more than I do Nigeria's, and that is what it comes down to. No need to throw an unecessarily sentimental tantrum, the evidence abounds. Ibori, Farouk Lawan, Aondoaka, etc. At least in the states you would have a semblance of a charade where evidence is heard. Call me cynical but given the calibre of politicians we have had in the past I don't think Kashamu is avoiding America because he is scared of white supremacists 'sticking it' to another black man for the sake of it, I think he has a case to answer. |

Crocz: Visionless?...really?...and you mentioned the 7point agenda?...lol
And Jonah's being bad gives governance a whole new meaning of mediocrity...afterall we are comparing governments under different people, so why shouldn't we mention Jonathan's? Yes, visionless. What did he achieve with the seven point agenda, just name one of the agenda that was fulfilled. Making a list of things does not make one a visionary. Yaradua government was a FAILURE. Jonathan's government was bad and so was Yaradua's, I will not sit back and allow someone rewrite the history of a presidency I remember vividly. All I remember from Yaradua's tenure was seven point agenda without results, massive impunity under Turai, Maurice Iwu, a very corrupt and heavy handed AGF called Aondoaka who shielded UK government from investigating Ibori, do I go on? That is the presidency you want to come here and defend, shameless fellow. |

However, Let us not sermonise Yaradua because he is dead please, it is an insult to those of us who vividly remember his seven point agenda with no motion, or Turai and Aondoaka, or Maurice Iwu, or the dismantling of the EFCC. Where's the farm located cos am Curious...measure the internally generated revenue to his performance and understand my point, that's minus federal government monthly allocations. I guess you truly experienced change in Rivers. How much did he get from excess crude account? The mono rail he collected money for where is it? So apparently he spent 8 years building schools, you speak like it's a favour he's doing to his people. Do you pay tax at all? If you understand how much is deducted from a worker monthly including those expatriates in the state of cos I don't need to enlighten you on how much they're paid. The same Amaechi is owing teachers, I served and worked in Rivers before I relocated. State allowance was an issue for him, ordinary states like Enugu pay their corpers 10k monthly. Compare the two states bros. Change indeed. You are entitled to your opinions but you are not entitled to your facts. If you really want to find the truth information abounds everywhere, Rivers State has the best public school infrastructure in the country. But what does it matter, I know you DON'T want to know the truth. And no, did not say it should not be expected from government, but it was not there before so please do spare us your sanctimonious drivel.
