Do you really want to do nursing? Or is it because there’s a hype about nurses getting work/pr in the U.K.? Well If you had a 2:1 in your Bsc, you can apply for Msc nursing in Hertfordshire & few others universities taking non nursing graduates. Doing a Bsc Nursing because you want to follow that route to gain pr will just be daft sorry to say. You should consider the ££££ you will spend for 3/4 years of nursing, and laws change every-time. You never know. Maybe by the time you finish that Bsc, NHS will not be in desperate need of nurses anymore. At least this CONVID19 has opened their eyes. I believe they’re going to hire surplus medical field guys after this pandemic. Also we tend to forget that age only goes upwards. When do you want to finish Bsc, get work, settle down, get PR, get citizenship, get your dream house, car, have kids etc and just enjoy life? I believe that we should be going upwards & not downwards. You will be surprised that an Msc in your engineering field will even fetch you a high rank job with good pay. Nursing is not even as easy as people make it seem. You will work sote you go begin dey look x3 of your actual age. Whites too are very strict with rules etc. One racist boss can accuse you of sleeping on duty or neglect or wrong medication & before you know, license don go. You get barred from practicing again. You’re back to square one. Personally I will say go for Msc in what you have passion for & previous work experience to support it. If it’s engineering, my dear go for it. Excel well with excellent thesis. Apply for PhD funding from your university or another, as long as you have an excellent proposal & Thesis, you have good chances of getting it. After Phd, the sky is your limit. More opportunities to choose from. Regardless of what you decide, all the best. Just my opinion aivewobhor: Please house I would like to know if there are any partway to nursing graduate. I already have a bachelor degree in mechanical engineering or should I apply directly to bachelors in nursing . Advice would be appreciated as I look forward to changing career path |

Can someone tell me the requirements of getting a work permit during the job search year after studies?
Are you allowed to find work in any field or must it be related to your studies?
Also how much minimum should you be paid to be eligible for the visa?
Do you apply for the visa or the employer does it on your behalf?
Kindly advise thanks |

Honest to God, I’m just hearing about this FinTech for the first time o. Sounds more like financial management mixed with a touch of technology. The course availability for this fall, depends on how many students show interest. It’s not a course to rely on, if you’re keen on leaving this year. So you might as well look for an available course that you can swap the management for. Alternatively, you can just apply to different university entirely that offers FinTech as well. All The Best toyclicks: Lol
But really, if you read up that link. it seems convincing |

I will leave Justwise & others to answer this one. toyclicks: Hello good people, It seems this whole thing is heading somewhere. While digging again, I just found out that Salford just added a new course Financial Technology. I seem to be satisfied with it based on my initial concern about the management choice.
https://beta.salford.ac.uk/courses/postgraduate/financial-technology-fintech
But it looks like the University is not yet decisive if they are starting with this session. There is a pop up that reads
New programme: Salford Business School is delighted to present this new programme, aimed at both recent graduates and professionals with a financial, IT or business background looking to expand their understanding of technology in finance.
Subject to academic approval, the programme will open in September 2020. If you want to register your interest, please email:
UK / EU Course Enquiries enquiries@salford.ac.uk International Enquiries mail to: international@salford.ac.uk
That "Subject to academic approval" clause is my concern. If they have not made up thier mind about it by now, I don't know....
Also, I hope sending a mail to indicate interest won't give me a negative kick back since I had earlier secured admission for a course with them.
Your advice are appreciated. Thanks |

TuniLove: Greetings to Everyone in the House!
You guys are doing a great job.
I got admission/offers to study MSc Project
Management from the following schools:
RGU NTU MMU BCU SALFORD
I am okay with their respective tuition fees, course
contents and structures.
They're all accredited by APM and some by PMI.
However, where I need your advice, is the cities these
schools are located.
Which of these cities have a good job prospect after graduation? Again, no one can determine this. THE CITY DOES NOT CARRY JOB AND GIVE YOU AS A RESIDENT. Else everyone one in London or Manchester will be employed. It all boils down to your efficiency and what you have to offer in a job. Don’t restrict yourself to your environment. As you’re studying, be applying to jobs in other cities & countries if possible. You don’t know where your luck lies, don’t get too comfortable in a particular city because you’re familiar with the environment
Low cost of living (including accommodation)? Cost of living in the U.K. honestly depends on the area in any city you’re heading to. London is the only place that’s super expensive. The rest you can find an area not close to city centre that’s affordable. Check SpareRoom, Gumteee, Rightmove for ideal prices to look out for. Transport fares , food etc are relatively the same. Perhaps only £1 or £2 difference.
Low crime rate? The U.K. is a safe place I will say except from London with terrorist attacks. Every country has crime, so you just have to be careful and watchful all the time. You’ve got bad guys everywhere. However bigger cities like Birmingham, Manchester will slightly have a higher crime rate than NTU, RGU
Friendly to International students? and so on. U.K. na hub of international students. There’s a high chance of seeing a Nigerian or african or Asian in every street. RGU/BCU are headquarters for Nigerians . Apply today, get offer tomorrow. MMU is in Manchester which is a big city for tourists, so very friendly. Salford is close to Manchester, so the same. NTU should be the same in Nottingham. Just always know that they’re racist everywhere, so learn to dey your dey and do what’s right at all times.
I would appreciate any other advice/ suggestions about
these cities.
Thanks. |

If you don’t mind me asking, are you still in Nigeria? If yes, are you planning to migrate as well to another country or back to the U.K.? (as you are on this thread). Please don’t be offended, just curious. mamacajah: Precisely my point when I wrote "things have changed"... which is why my counsel is really look before you leap.. UK right now needs people more than ever....so why not make yourself versatile and appealing to not only them but other developed nations. Let's learn to be more long sighted when planning this investments ..think outside the box..is this program I am investing in now able to help build a good foundation for my desired tomorrow? 5yrs, 10 yrs, 15 yrs from now?... that needs to be your driving force.. for me IT is the top choice but as is evidenced, without experience, the degree can only take you so far... but it is doable. this is the millenial age people..anything is possible, as long as you work at it!
I would always advise any body embarking on this journey, spend time researching everything about the place you want to go to, why you want to go there and devise the right plan/strategy of getting there, within the right means of course . Au revoir! |

I agree with you. As I mentioned yesterday, Supply Chain & Business Analytics are good ones for U.K. applicants but people’s destiny differs. You will be surprised that someone studying management will go and get hired after studies. While the IT guy will go and come back to Nnamdi Azikiwe lol. Also, not everyone fits the health field because it’s in demand. Tbh I think people should go into the medical field because of a strong passion with sincere intention and not because of work. There’s nothing like having a passion for what you do. It’s even unsafe for someone to do nursing because it’s in demand but deep down wants to be an engineer or something. That kind of person will be good at neglecting, more like doing eye service. Might also be battling with depression even with the PR & money that he/she is making. I think it all boils down to your passion, previous experience and intended destination. Its good to choice your destination wisely as it suits your profile. Someone going to US or Canada or France or China or Belgium for example, can get a job within the Business field because these countries are producers. But someone going to Estonia or Luxembourg etc, to study nursing is not feasible. These are IT countries. There’s a destination for everyone, you just got too research properly. It’s better to appear confused & make the right choice, than to follow the crowd & say “had I known”. mamacajah: On this topic of Management, let me say a few words. I did MSc Purchasing and Supply Chain in the UK (2011), came back home and got a good job after some months. Of all my class set, less than 5 people were able to get jobs in the UK after graduation, even those with distinction and merits. A lot had interviews till the last stage and then were told ..sorry you do not meet the "requirements"...a lot tried to hustle till the end of their visa.. no way.. the ones who were fortunate to get jobs were in other fields. Although this was the period of no post graduate work permit, yet some outstanding students were able to get jobs in their desired field while others had to settle for what the ycould get or started another program immediately. Some even moved to Canada to continue their pursuit of a better life.
Management is generic field, so unless you just finished school in the last 3 -5 years, have a job that requires it for promotion, I definitely wouldn't advice you go spend all that money on it... additionally, things have changed. The current strategy should be look for a course that is in demand in any developed country. Since time immemorial...health field jobs are never out of style.. then IT and Engineering.. even the Business Analyst is a combination of Management and IT. So for those venturing into overseas study, please and please, be strategic. In today's world, there is nothing like I don't know that course o.. I can't do it.. .. a lot of nigerians after immigrating, go and start school again in either nursing, social work or IT... doesn't that tell you something? Unless you absolutely want to become an academic, then you can go do the course you like to PHD level... get a job as a lecturer and fulfill your life dream.
Okay, that's my two kobo on the matter... back to the main discussion... I have trying to read back on the 3rd thread for possible interview questions. Could anyone direct me to a specific page or range? Thanks! |

Doesn’t sound legit, think again Ngoven: Greetings to you brothers. Please kindly extend your helping hands to me by putting me right. I am a graduate of Philosophy (B.A in Philosophy) and I wish to travel to Austria . I have two intentions either to go for my Master's Programme in Social worker or I go there and look for job. In other words, either by work permit visa or Student Visa. As it stands now, I am indecisive of whether to go there as a master student or to hustle first which if I stand , I will register for my Master's Programme there. I am indecisive because I don't know the best way to immigrate and I don't want to enter there illegally. I need you people's candid advice. I contacted an academician who based in Austria and he has been helping people to come over there either by work permit or student visa . You are the one to make a choice . He said that he will collect #1.6m to do it . The #1.6m includes both my legalization, flight ticket, everything involved . That what I need to do is to go to any bank with his barrister and two of us will open a joint account and put the money there . Once my Visa is handed over to me, two of us will equally go to the bank and I will release the money for him but if the visa denied, I will take my money back. He also promise to help me get work doing. Please dear brothers, what are your advices to me. I have not told him my choice whether school or to work. Asiwaju and Juvante, come and help your brother oooo... even if I can get your contact, I will like to speak with you on phone. Thanks as I await in anticipation. |

Tbh I feel like anyone going to the U.K. to study management or international business etc, just wants to spend money and enjoy abroad for a while. You need to be a pro, before a British person can employ you to manage them (in Terms of HR). In terms of business management, I wonder which business one is really going to manage for them. U.K. is a service country than a production country. It’s not common to see a made in U.K. product. Most companies there are international companies who are looking to higher top notch Brits or Europeans. They do hire blacks too, but you have to be well damn good!. Your work experience and skills got to be on point eg years of working with international companies like PWC, KPMG, P & G etc. Supply Chain Management is the one that can even work because of the logistics system in the U.K. Business Analytics, Accounting are feasible too. So whether he/she changes program as advised by Stenon, you go still need to struggle your way to get a TIER 2 job to stayback. In this case, you’re not just fighting for work with Brits/Europeans, you’re also fighting with your fellow international students that rush to study such courses. I have one guy there now that’s doing marketing Oga said he only chose it because it’s easy to pass and gives him time to work. SegunWamiri: In my opinion, MSc. Management is a total waste of money especially when you already have up to about 5 years experience in the same. Honestly, I don't think you'd gain anything tangible. The curriculum is usually too broad not zeroing on a specific aspect of management.
My advice however, as you have begun to loose interest in sales, is to find and choose a program with specialization in other aspects of Management - Human resources, accounting, etc.
In addition to this, @skymoore's advice on related part time work, internships and certifications would come handy while studying ANY management related program in the UK.
Cheers |

Did you not check the marketability and graduate prospects before applying? Management is a general programme, so you can work in any sector- more of business, hospitality sectors etc. It’s a common course so it’s not in demand much. Can easily find a British graduate with that degree. So it’s left for you, to make use of any opportunity offered. Opportunities like: -Placement -Internship -Part time work within that study -Volunteer work (manage projects or team work etc) -Attend Career Fairs and sell yourself to potential employers. -Update your Cv regularly and get help from professionals in your uni to review it. -Start applying for jobs at least after 1st semester via LinkedIn, Indeed.com etc. -Make vast connections because you never know. Anything that can boost your experience & skills, just engage. Most importantly, excel & come out with nothing below Merit. Salford is a good university & Manchester has a lot to offer. Jisike. toyclicks: Good day

Kk 4real: First of all @mimilyrics was correct and I didnt see where she said that she couldn't get dependant visas for her kids; I can see where she said that only her husband and kids apply as dependants. She gave the lady options which she is entitled to take or not take. You are arguing off point Can her mother in law be granted a visit visa? YES. Let's assume she applied for a 10 year visa and was granted, she spends 6 months and then leaves back to nigeria to travel back to the United Kingdom let's say, 1 month later, by the time she does this twice it would mean she has spent more than one year in the united kingdom than Nigeria which should be her primary country of residence. You said if she explains the situation than they would understand but as far as the UKVI is concerned, the woman would be considered to have lied on her visa application. And for your information, the mother-in-law looking after the kids in the United Kingdom will be considered work even though she may not be paid in cash but payment in kind is also considered payment by the UKVI. The UKVI asks for maintenance funds for a reason, they would expect you to pay for child maintance by yourself should you need one in the United Kingdom. You can't say that you have maintenance funds but need your mother-in-law to help with the kids. The funds are there to help wih the kids. Secondly, by the third visit (after staying 6 months on each trip) mother-in-law's visa would be cancelled in situations like stated above, the United Kingdom is not Nigeria where we run things based on sentiments. |

She came to ask how to get her family over and not suggestions about their welfare or who she should leave the kids with etc. I repeat again, that part wasn’t needed. LEAVE ME PLEASE faks10: @Skymoore1004 ...Can you just learn to calm down and see things in perspectives. She didn't just come here to get a Yes or No answer, she came to seek counsel and possible ways of getting it done. Politely make your contribution and allow others do theirs as well. The lady will sit over all and make her final decision. You have no right to say someone's suggestion is needed or not. |

But did she ask for your opinion on that? NO. What she asked for was how to go about getting them to come over. Saying she should wait till after her studies and get tier 2, was not what she asked of you. Simple as that. mimilyrics: If you read her the post again you'd see where the poster stated that "I am considering applying for his mum so she can help with the kids"- this implies that there wasn't a plan for a nanny or childcare outside of the fact that her husband would watch the kids when she was busy with school or other things. My responses have been based on this. This would be my last response to you since you're deliberately refusing to understand the lady's situation. |

You’re talking out of point. In conclusion, can she get a dependent visa for her kids with proof of adequate funds and other requirements- YESCan she get a visit visa for her in-law and can she stay up to 6 months for 2-10 years type of visas?- YES. It is written on the government website and if one obeys the rules in regards to the visit visa, I see no issue. They’re adults and they know how to make decisions. You’re allowed 180 days, it’s left for them to say okay, let’s do 90 days per visit or 120 per visit. Again Justwise can advise better. mimilyrics: No one is arguing with you. You're choosing to see from just an angle. There have been precedents and yes, it raises red flags. The visit visa is not for full 6 months stay. Also, your suggestion on a nanny falls under adequate childcare arrangements which I mentioned in my previous comment based on my assumption of that not being included in the couple's initially planned expenditure. Don't lead people to believe that they can circumvent the immigration rules without penalties; that some people have done it and gotten away with it doesn't make it seem right. |

I am not taking a deep breath, it’s not by force. She asked about dependant visa for the kids and how she can bring her in-law over. She did not seek any advice as to how she can cope with the kids alone or if she should leave them in Nigeria till after her studies. Answer what she asked for, shikena. mimilyrics: Calm down and take a deep breath. Now go back to read what I typed. Did you miss the part about adequate care arrangements which obviously includes their upkeep of which finance is a factor? My response was necessitated by the fact that she stated the fact that she needed her mum-in-law around to help with the kids which implies that she may have trouble doing so alone. |
Travel › Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 4 by Skymoore1004: 1:39pm On May 06, 2020 |
See I don’t have strength to argue with anyone. She can get dependent visa for her kids, simple! About her mum, they will arrange something suitable for her. There’s nothing like Red Flag if she explains the reason of her long visits in her next application (that’s if they ask). As long as there’s proof that she was not working etc, I see no problem. Nevertheless, she can always get a nanny in the UK. mimilyrics: That's an option that UKVI has never shied from exploring since there's someone (mum-in-law) in Nigeria to care for them while she's in school. The mum-in-law can't stay for 6 months on each visit because that raises a flag that she is more in the UK than Nigeria, her country of residence and this might be a critical factor as to whether subsequent visa applications are approved or rejected. |
Travel › Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 4 by Skymoore1004: 1:33pm On May 06, 2020 |
What are you people even saying? The UKVI only needs to see funds that you can take care of the funds. If required, she can present a death certificate to show the reason to why she needs her kids around and her husband is late. She can enrol them in schools which means they’re busy during the day. There’re also day care centres during weekends, Incase she needs private study time I know single mothers (Divorcees) studying U.K and got dependent visa for their kids. One even has 3 (age 11, 7 and other a toddler). She only left last year! mimilyrics: May God grant you the fortitude to bear this loss and may He comfort you now and beyond. That's a tough one. You can only bring your kids and husband in on your Tier 4 visa. With your husband's death, it might be difficult bringing your kids over because you'd have to convince the UKVI that you've got adequate care arrangements for your kids in the UK without them getting in the way of your studies. If you state that you're bringing your mum-in-law to help with the kids, it opens you up to the option of leaving them in Nigeria with your mum-in-law. You'd be better off finishing your program and securing a full-time job on a Tier 2 sponsorship as that would enable you bring your kids in when you're in a better situation to pay for childcare (this is based on the assumption that your funds didn't factor in extensive childcare costs for when you're in school and/or at work). Your mum-in-law can visit your during school weeks to help with the kids but then, there's a limit to how long she can stay and how frequently she can visit on a visiting visa. |
