I'm not particularly focused on a particular method of generating electricity. I'm more for efficiency and cost effectiveness. For instance, I believe we can install a thousand 10MW power generators in different rivers across the country. This saves forex, cost effective and efficient. I also have an idea I'm exploring that I intend 2 sell 2d FG. All I can say 4 now is that it involves d adoption of a smart grid system.

Hello all. This is a great thread.

I have passion for this. In 2013 April to be precise I bought about 5 of them and rear them in my balcony. U can imagine. My parent reared it too. Like 2 to 5. We don't vaccinate them and we just give them our regular food rice and the likes.

Am looking for a plot or half plot to buy for this purpose and grow from there.

Have the following questions:

Am married and my husband easily put me off my desires, told him of this since but he just said no way. The one I did in my balcony he naged and naged but in the end he ate the larger portion of the meat and even gave out one to his people. I believe I can prove him right that I can do it. Can I go ahead and find half a plot and start with like 200 PCs? As I am tired of working need a business.

How many chicks can I conveniently rear on half plot of land?

Is ikorodu too far for a married woman living in Lagos mainland?

I have an offer for a land after Ibadan , have families that can manager and look after the farm manager butchunby said no way, cos I won't be able to manage it myself, does this make sense?

Finally question, my hubby made enquiries and he was told I better go to depo and get eggs and sell instead of having a poultry, is this OK as well?

Tired of going to the office and I don't want to end this 2015 same was other years had ended.
My advice is this
1. Draw up a biz plan complete with a business model.
2. Make sure ur model is based on backward integration.
3. Execute ur plan and cross check as u execute.

NB. Backward integration is when u start by distributing eggs thereby establishing a market and then u slowly work backwards 2 establish d poultry biz proper. U can as well forward integrate by converting d eggs 2 powder for bakers etc.

@sleekman, how was your holidays, hope all is well with everyone here. Thank you for coming to my aid, we can all learn from each other here, I think I have given General premises of my stuff here, some might have been able to pick on it but others might be wanting me to just spell it out. I am sure there are people here that have better stuff than I do. They might not just be talking but they are good. One cool thing about this our thread, is that we are not all conglomerates, most of us are mom and pop, there are so much info in this thread that you can get to any hieght in this poultry business. So, I think we should take what we have been given, add our own innovation to it and run with it.

I have learned a lot this past year, and hope to do better this new year. Am I making money yet? For how much I have invested into my poultry, and still investing, Noooooooooo!!! Very far from it.
@fnk thank God 4 his bountiful mercies and d opportunity 2c another new year. Had a quiet halls with lots of reflection. Are u in d country? Yeah we all have learned 4rm eachother this past year save 4d data loss we experienced in d 1st or 2nd quarter. For those of you who didn't get 2 read lost data then perhaps u'll want 2 explore morianga seeds, dry pawpaw seeds, garlic, oregano, guava leaves(fresh shoots), mint and basil. That's what I can remember. I think there may be others. @jamp, @fnk et al u can help me out here. Focus of this thread is trying 2 explore organic remedies for disease prevention in poultry. There are various journals online u can explore 2 improve d health of ur poultry. Thank you.

I support you and these are the major challenges we face in our country. How do one dissuade an engineer from working in a bank and other non-engineering based sector when there's no alternative for us.I believe we can make change to this status quo in our own little way!
Yes we can. In most developed countries people that start out in technological/innovative entrepreneurship started with paid employment and with their salaries start producing things in their backyard. Once they are confident they can get a market 4 a product and fashion out a way 2 produce such a product @ a profit then they go 4 patenting and then find a way 2 source capital. There are special banks and venture capitalists always ready 2 finance a profitable product/idea.
The idea should be get a good paying job, save and then use savings 2 start inventing a product. For instance, literate welders and engineers should be able 2 team up 2geda and build machines currently being imported into this country. Rather what we have is when someone gets a good paying job they don't want 2 take any risks so they buy cars, houses, designer clothes etc. Instead of fetching ideas 4rm d net and redesigning and re-applying these 4d local environment.

Y'all must be joking.

The country produces less than 4000 MW and the whole place starts getting lights up ? So where the electricity coming from ?
I believe d authorities have changed strategy. Currently produced electricity should be about 10-12GW. They are adopting and transiting to smart power grids as compared 2d ordinary power grids that existed b4. Through this method each state can be connected to d gas network thereby producing their own power. Some states are beginning 2 buy into this especially electricity that will power public infrastructure. Also, lots of companies eg Dangote, Lafarge et al are generating their own power and some are already supplying d excess into d national grid. National grid max capacity stood @ 6000MW but now its about 6700MW. B4 feb it will be hitting 10,000MW.

I remember ed some years back I wanted training and information on biogass and biomass, I couldn't get any.We engineers have to think strategically in invention and innovation to upgrade our country through settling up any of these;supplying it to the national grid and making cool money grin
Some of our engineers are lazy while some are looking out 4 security(economic). The govt can perhaps start by establishing and changing patenting laws in d country. People with ideas will rather travel out of d country 2 setup shop for this singular reason. In some other countries some people don't look 4 jobs. They just think and innovate. They get paid 2 release the next big idea. The policy of continuously purchasing firearms outside d country when in fact we can create jobs here in d country through innovation. So in essence lots of policies on d macro level have 2 change and on d micro level a body created 2 safeguard independent innovators.

Renewable energy is still quite expensive and a little inefficient. Govt would prefer bringing in generators than ba3s, solar panels and inverters cos fuel must be sold and forex outflow checked. Solar power manufacturers must be encouraged 2 setup shop here. They should encourage vertical integration in this sector just as they are doing in d car and sugar industries

I have a girlfriend whom I unexpectedly fell inlove with her. Unlike my previous relationship I was 100% faithful to her and I mean it. I supported her with all her financial demands and I felt she was really in love with me because of the way she acted. I work on the rig and she is a student of Uniport in her final year, Whenever I was leaving for the rig for 3weeks, I left my car with her. several stories from people who claimed to be her friend told me how she kept gallivanting with my car and sleeping around, but I was not deterred. I even told my parents that I have found someone I was gonna get married to.
To be honest, she started acting funny towards me, not giving me time during the short period when I am around, and always coming up with excuses. Following from a tip off from an anonymous caller, she was in a hotel with her friend and a man she claimed to be her uncle. I got to the hotel (Le' Meridian) in GRA ph, went to the pool side and after having some drinks, I called her to find out her whereabouts, she lied that she was in school, but in less than 30 minutes she was downstairs with her friend (I supposed they just had a party). I confronted her and she lied. I got hold of her bag, and saw K-Y gel and condoms.
I have since walked out of the relationship, but it still hurts me. My phone still has her nude pics she sent to me. I am being tempted to do something nasty cos I am heartbroken.
Please advise
Op I have 2 pills 4u. Choose only one. Blue pill or the red pill? So here's what the red pill will make u do. Track down every female member of her family, flash them money, charm and bang everyone that u can. After a while get someone 2 set u guys up as if u bumped into eachother and then continue screwing until u feel like stopping but never spend a dime. The day she gets frustrated tell her ur friend likes her and wants a go. Sell ur phone through an alias with d pics in it and whatever he does with d pics are none of ur biz. Whether he w a nks with them, puts them online etc who cares? The devil has you so.
Now, results of the blue pill is simple pick up a bible, read d books of John, 1st, 2nd & 3rd John. When ure done perhaps u can come back here and tell me what u observed/discovered while reading. I'm pretty sure ur life would never be d same again if u take d blue pill. So choose my friend.

PoliticsRe: Kaduna, Nigeria’s Second Most Indebted State – El-rufai by sleekman(m): 12:56am On Dec 09, 2014
clara472:
Mallam Nasir Ahmed el-Rufa’i, the Kaduna State governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress(APC) for the 2015 elections says the state is Nigeria’s second most indebted state.

Speaking in an interview, the former FCT minister lamented that Kaduna had no industrial base or commercial capacity to bear its heavy debt burden. Data as at June 2014 show that the top foreign debtors are Lagos (N162 billion), Kaduna (N40 billion) and Bauchi (N17 billion).

“From estimates, every child born in Kaduna State has a debt of N15,000. If you have a child to be born tomorrow, that child already has a debt burden of N15,000, and there are about eight million people in Kaduna State, so, you do the calculation,” he said.

El-Rufai however noted that “in spite of that, we are confident that we will find a way to work with the people of Kaduna State because there are areas of leakages, corruption we plan to tackle and there is large capacity to expand internally generated revenue.

“In spite of the fact that oil prices are falling and we are facing a dire economic situation more serious than anything that we have faced since 1984, we will do our best to improve the situation because we are committed to making Kaduna great again and we cannot do it without you. We hope once our campaigns; we will have some of you as part of our campaign team, so that you record and document every stage and expose everything.

“We want a transparent campaign and we are not afraid of having the media with us. I hope you will be vigilant before the campaign starts in the next one week or so. Keep an eye on all of us and ask us the most difficult questions and hold us to account and keep a record of all our promises and ensure that for the next four years we do not rest until we meet the aspirations of the people of Kaduna state,” he said.

Speaking on his tenure as minister, El-Rufai dismissed insinuations that he was controversial. “I do not know what you mean by controversial,” he said, adding however that he has “always maintained that I am not controversial. Look at me, I am not big and I am not very strong. Until 1999 when I became the DG of BPE, no one had ever heard of me. If I was a controversial person you would have heard of me.

“I think my fortune or misfortune in public life is that I tend to get the most difficult assignments that every other person is scared of doing. My first real job in government was DG of the BPE and my job was to sell public assets. That is controversial. It is not el-Rufa’i that was controversial, it was the assignment because people are used to government managing everything.”

“Some of these things are difficult to do and in this country if you want to do the job as written in the books, you are given all sorts of names and tags, controversial is one of them. I am not controversial, I mind my business and when I was Adviser to Gen. Abdulsalam Abubakar for one year, you never heard of me because an Adviser advises quietly. But once I am given a job and I agree to do it, I do it with all my heart and as Minister of the FCT which is one of the most difficult jobs, I did my job to the best of my ability. I do not think that the issue is whether I was controversial or not. “

“The question you should ask me is whether I left Abuja better than I met it. And I think most people in Abuja will say I did. That is what matters. Now, what about Kaduna? Kaduna is different from Abuja in many respects. So, there is work to be done here. Not everything to be done here will be loved by the people. A lot of it will be embraced by the people but if there is a job to be done and I undertake to do it, if the people of Kaduna State elect me it is because they want change. They do not want this place to be a state of bill boards and no action,” El-Rufai said.
