At the intial stage,perhaps. That's what makes them parents but at some point when it becomes obvious that the child is certain of what he/she wants,they should let go.

Most of the time,these parents just want their children to live their own dreams and I consider it selfish.

It just makes life miserable for the child sometimes.

Had a friend who wrote Jamb for more than seven years because her father insisted that she studies medicine. She finally got the admission,failed in the first year and got dropped to some other medical sciences but her father asked that she write Jamb again. She's still in medical school and I can tell that she's doing it just for the man.

Heard the story of one other who graduated as a medical student,and gave his father his certificate the day he was inducted and went off to do something more his choice.

Some children just never forgive their parents for making them tow a path they didn't choose.
While they could have been excellent in a field of ther choice or interest,they manage to be average or fall below in one they were forced into.

Like I said on the other thread,all these advices or real life experiences meant to alert women can only do so much..

I don't think this is about propagating or advocating single parenting but encouraging those who find themselves in those shoes that they can have as much fufilling lives as their married counterparts and their children can turn out equally as good or better than those brought up by both parents if they work at it.

Have you asked you friend what the initial agreement between them both was?
Maybe they had both agreed to no kids for a certain length of time after marriage and she decided to play her own tricks..
Anyway, she should do whatever she can to dissuade him from insisting. It would be harder if she decided to get pregnant without his consent though..

Being a single parent is no crime or unfortunate sentence. Once you find yourself there,live the life and enjoy being that as much as you can against the odds.

Even if this story is untrue,just that list of those ingredients is enough to make one wary of these local joints.
