question is, is this yo' first time of subscribing to the bis since you got the phone? if yes then depending on the kind you got, new or fairly used, if fairly used, then its most likely the apps have been tampered with, whatever the problem maybe, an upgrade would def. solve the problem. funny enough, i just upgraded my bold 1 to the 5.0 yesterday and some lil problems i used to experience are no more. you'll need the bb desktop manager and then go to crackberry.com to download the update then run yo' desktop manager, it'll automatically see the update then you install! mine took approximately 20 mins to update but depending on yo' computer specs, it could take much longer |
very cheering news |
use the dm internet settings. specfically the internet.ng.zain, apn. you should also note that i use the 6.0 version of the desktop software which has been availaible only since a couple weeks back . |
i use the normal dm settings, its really not hard to configure now |
i use the airtel bis and even though i agree that the network can be aweful atimes, its still considerably manageable for me. and who says you cant use yo' bb as a modem anymore? i still do! matter o' fact, its the connection am posting with now and as far as am concerned, thats the only consolation for their poor services. i havent really experienced what you guys go through with services not working for days, i've always browsed steady, just that the pages might load up a bit slow and a major snag ia that downloading is almost impossible as you experience frequent and agonising interruptions. another thing is that y'all might wanna consider upgrading yo' bb softwares to the 5.0 or 6 if u still on 4.6 as the internet reception on the newer softwares work faster (its a practical experience) plus airtel now has daily and weekly plans. not sure how much the weekly plan goes for but the daily plan goes for 200 bucks. just sms bisday or bisweek to 440. what i still dont understand is why networks like airtel restrict their 3g network to post paid subs only! i mean wtf why hoarding the damn thing! and it seems to be the reason mtn comes off better - 3g! but heard a while ago that airtel has started expanding their 3g coverage and theres a likelyhood that they'ld extend the service to pre paid subs. am not counting on that tho |
plus i wouldnt know if zain is the only network that allows it but i,ve got friends on mtn who said they've not been able to use the modem mode and even when they do, it eats up their credit |
i use the bb desktop software 4.6. not much difference with the 5.0. you just click on the 'mobile internet' option at the bottom left corner and it connects immediately. the speed is ok at least for opening web pages but not very reliable when downloading. and yes its an unlimited bundle. you are simple extending your bis function. unless yo' bis comes with a bundle thats limited which i dont think is applicable to any network |
i also use the airtel bis and i'ld agree with you to an extent. its ok when using the bbm but poor when surfing the web thru the default bb browser. i've found a viable alternative in bolt and operamini browsers for blackberry cuz the load web pages a lot faster unlike the default browser that loads pages real time and could take a while to load all the elements especially large web pages. the only consolation with the airtel bis is that it allows your bb to be used as a modem on your computer conveniently |
i use zain |
Get the BB desktop software. I currently use my bold 9000 as a modem without any hitches |

pheesayor:pls whats the speed like? And is it 3 G? |
Missy85:This report is very misleading. You dont pay any access charge to use airtels 2good package. The said 36naira is only the charge for the first minute call you make within 24hours while you are subsequently charged 20k/sec for the remaining duration of your call. Sounds like a fair deal if ya ask me and unarguably the lowest tarrif currently. |
COMPAQ:you probably didnt get the information correctly. Its 60k/sec for the first minute call of the day and not the first minute of every call made. I use airtel and since this package was launched and i've withnessed first-hand, the benefits, i can only deduce that the good times are here at last! |

@jze well your stuff seems fair enough. Where do you stay so i can know how far i'ld have to journey if i decide to come pick one of the phones and does it come with any accessory? Like charger, usb, mem card and stuff? |
lol opzy. You don forget say we be Nigerians. Yea am carefull, thats why am making as much enquiries as you can see |
do you have a bold 1 for sale? |
jze all i asked is couple pics of the phones to have an idea of the condition of what i wanna buy . Its not such a big deal now. A lot of folks who trade their stuff here post pics of 'em and that helps to boost the interest in the product. It doesnt make any sense for me to journey down to meet with you before i can see it. Like i said, am serious in getting one of the bold 1 BBs. I just need to see what i wanna buy before i make the move. So? |
can you post a couple pics of the bold 1 and 2? Am seriously interested in the bold 1 |
hey akimate i see you have settled for waste and recycling collection and transportation. hmmm the idea of a people oriented waste disposal, in as much as it sounds great, i have my reservations, basically because it'll be difficult to get people to bring along their waste when leaving their respective homes in their suits and other corporate gears plus, a lot of people have to first of all board a motorbike before getting to the bus stops and it'll look kinda awkward carrying waste bags on a motorbike not to even talk of the stains it could put on ones clothes. Going by the psyche of Most Lagosians, i dont think such initiative would be embraced much and that itself could defeat the objective. But other means of getting the trash to the stops can be arranged, for instance, the local cart pushers (that have been banned because of their habit of indiscriminately dumping refuse in public places) could be reinstated and tasked with getting the waste from peoples homes to the stops and even with that, jobs could be created. one question, do you intend to incorporate the waste disposal system into the existing design of the BRT stops or you are gonna design new stations (which i advice). Anyhow you go about it, there could be a problem of space cuz the BRT route is on the main highway and not on the service lanes but thats where the ingenuity of the Architect comes to play. (I assume you mus have seen photos of the BRT stop) Unfortunately, am not familar with any military hospital along the ikorodu road axis. Questions 1)Yes you have to walk to another bus stop as they are not on the same route and you have to pay another full fare. 2) YES! LAWMA has franchised the part of collecting the waste to private operators for efficiency and only restricted its operations to managing the cleanliness of the streets and various parks, and the operators have pasted notices on customers' gates on what days of the week they'ld stop by to take their trash and enjoins such customers to put their trash at designated points for ease of collecting. 3)nah! and i cant tell most people around here dont, they couldnt care what happens to their waste not to talk of what good they can get from it. |
maya is more advanced than 3ds max when it comes to animation from my experience and even the developers attributed to this fact. Animated Works like The Incredibles, South Park and Ex-machina was done with maya. |
hey akimate. You must have noticed i hadnt replyed your last post. I actually posted the reply same day i posted the one before this, but for some strange reason, the post disappears after a couple mins. And kept resending and i guess the spambot thought i was spamming and pulled the plug on me. Now that my posting privileges have been restored, i'ld post the reply again first thing monday cuz am currently using my blackberry to post this @ electronic and raintree. I didnt bolt away o. Its nairaland bugs that did me strong thing. ![]() |
