THE WHITE baby born to a black Nigerian couple from south London will undergo full genetic tests in the coming weeks it has been revealed. Four-day old Nmachi Ihegboro, who was born with blond hair and blue eyes, has baffled genetic experts because both her parents are black and have no known white family history. Both Ben and Angela Ihegboro are now desperately trying to discover whether they have any white ancestry to make sense of their baby daughter's appearance. Mr Ihegboro, a devout Christian, said he had no reason to doubt little Namchi’s paternity. He said: “My wife is true to me. Even if she hadn’t been, the baby still wouldn’t look like that. “We both just sat there after the birth staring at her for ages – not saying anything.” The 44-year-old customer services adviser did reveal that although he and his wife believe there are no whites on either side of their Nigerian family, his 70-year-old mother, Amebo has blue eyes. The couple have agreed to let experts study Nmachi. Geneticist Dr Mark Thomas, of University College London said that the odds of the baby’s white colouring were “between many millions to one and a million to one” He said: “I suspect there’s been a mixture of a mutation, like albinism, combined with a dormant white gene.” Mr Ihegboro said they “would do what we can to find answers” “It doesn’t matter to us quite how she came about, but we will do what we can to find answers. She’s a beautiful, miracle baby and we love her. She could be green and yellow – we would love her the same http://www.voice-online.co.uk/content.php?show=17901 |

Dispatches goes undercover in some African churches in the UK, where evangelical pastors perpetuate a strong belief in witchcraft. They preach that some people are possessed by evil spirits, and that these spirits bring bad luck into the lives of others. The only way to rid the possessed from the witchcraft spell and lift their curse is to 'deliver' them: a kind of exorcism that can be very traumatic. Some pastors charge significant sums of money to perform these deliverances. Often it is children who are denounced as witches by these pastors, and this labelling can lead to the physical and emotional abuse of those children at the hands of their families. In extreme cases it has led to the deaths of some children. In parts of Africa, branding a child a witch is now outlawed, but in Britain this practise is perfectly legal, despite the fact it can have horrific consequences. Dispatches reveals just what goes on behind closed doors in these African churches, exposing the pastors who exploit the religious beliefs of the most vulnerable http://www.channel4.com/programmes/dispatches/episode-guide/series-67/episode-1 The programme shows on channel 4 at 8pm monday 26 july 2010.

All this political jamboree plays into PDPs hands. There is no credible opposition to stand against them and their rigging machine come next election. |

sjeezy8:You are comparing america [miami] to naija abi? for your information the floods will not only come from increased rainfall but to rising sea levels. the fundamental issue is the flood defences in the country involved. |
This sends a stern and clear message to anyone living in or intending to live in the towns and places on and around the coast line of Lagos and other states in Nigeria. It is no longer safe. Nigeria has non-existent flood protection. You better start selling your properties at least while they are still valuable. Because in 10 to 20 yrs time, you might be under water. |
beans + cocoyam = bullet proof |
hotelbook:i am sure you so called secret has a price. Which unfortunately the victim and not yourself has to bear. |
olly pass:The end is nigh for the kidnappers. They shall never know no peace. They shall never enjoy thier loot. May they and their helpers burn in hell. AMEN. |
Its a start. But if the authorities knew all along of their involvement why wait till there is public outrage before taking any decisive actions? |
Ileke-IdI:Just say almost 33 ibo and yoruba arrested, and not drag the rest of law abiding Nigeria into this. These 2 tribes self. |
hotelbook:highlighted parts should send alarm bells ringing. If you know these so called secrets, share it with everyone in the open instead or luring anyone into calling you. |

Okija_juju:Well done mate. Nice one. Some people can be so ungrateful. They conviniently forget what their parents went through to make them who they are today. Assuming the father was well to do and he was parasiting off him, he would not run here asking for advice on how to bleed his father dry. @ poster Sorry i have no sympathy for you. Continue looking after your father. It is a priviledge to cater for ones parents. And the almighty God will open the showers of blessing for you. Call me old fashioned. |
what is there to weigh when a senator unashamedly marries a child!!! Only in Nigeria. |
@ poster you need to give us more information about who you are and why you are travelling. |
surely there are some bad elements within the police force leaking the identity of the police informants |
At least eight people have been killed in an attack by machete-wielding assailants near the city of Jos in Nigeria. The unidentified attackers descended on a village on the outskirts of Jos, burning about 10 houses, early on Saturday, officials said. Some reports said the dead included the family of a Christian priest. Clashes between rival communities - Hausa Muslims and Berom Christians - have left hundreds dead this year. Witnesses said the men attacked the family of Rev Nuhu Dawat in the village of Mazah, 12km (7 miles) from the state capital of Jos, killing his wife, two children and a grandson. The priest ran for his life, later telling Reuters news agency: "I leave everything to God to judge." Plateau State Police Commissioner Gregory Anyating told Reuters the authorities were trying to find out "the root causes of the violence", but it had not spread to other villages. Deadly riots in 2001, 2008 and 2010 left hundreds of people dead. Although the clashes take place between Muslims and Christians, observers say the underlying causes are economic and political. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-10674389 |
