Funny! Seeing it was my husband that taught me how to drive. Yeah! we used to argue but that kinda drew us together at the end.He was so hard on me, putting me on the freeway before I even had an iota of driving confidence ![]() But my driving skills now? Meeeen, don't try me. ![]() Our love grew stronger, i learnt to watch my tongue, he learnt patience. Now we laugh when we think back to those days. God bless Him Its something both of you should be willing to do. It requires patience, focus and commitment. |
Jenju is tooooo much! Please may all your urgent heart desires in CHRIST be granted this year 2010 in Jesus name. And may God's blessings overwhelm you. THANK YOU! |
Matthew 5:17-48 (New International Version) 17"Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. 19Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven. This is actually my last post on this section. Also, lets hear of the agricultural products you have taken to God's house as tithe or offering since money is not mentioned. Thank you and I wish you the best. |
@ Pastor AIO, I was saying using the Easy to Read version for those who might not understand KJV well. Don't get me wrong. Each version has a different way of saying the same thing. But beyond that whatever version was used, that is not the point. We are talking about tithe here ok and of course Jesus said they should NOT LEAVE IT UNDONE. That's what this thread is about. Don't major on the minor! |
Hello Kunle, There's no need to argue. If Jesus himself said it in Matt. 23: 23 that these are things that they should continue then why are you now saying he was talking to the pharisees only. Jesus was always talking to a group or the other when preaching, so are you saying he was not also referring to us. Do you see the way you keep messing up everything to suit what you want to hear and understand. Get a grip! Please he said they tithe on all they own INCLUDING mint etc. If you are saying some 'pastors' are now hammering only on the financial aspects of the bible fine but please to say paying tithe is wrong is very wrong. Please if you are basing this on what obtained in their time, please why are you following the bible at all since its a historic book? All your comments are a constant contradiction of each other. You have even made it a duty to stop others from paying tithe and happy for it! Don't worry your eyes will be opened. Since its convenient for you not to pay tithe then feel free. Serving God is by choice and conviction but why force your convictions on others. This is the very same thing you are blaming so-called fake pastors of doing. So Bro, remove the log in your own eyes. As for just being new to the thread, i try to avoid this section and I guess I should have stayed away. I notice you made a comment on speaking in tongues and 90% of people speaking in tongues fake it. I guess you have even made yourself God that knows all. Or from what did you deduce this figure? You see there are some things we should refrain from saying and also stop castigating men who claim to be of God (fake or not). God is the judge and not you! The things of God are sacred, so fake or not, God won't judge us as a group but as individuals. If you decide not to abide by God's word beacuse there are so many fake people and prophets then I must say what an excuse! I think you should take out time to really ask for a deeper understanding of God's word as God's word needs Him to explain better. |
Hello all, Matt23:23 says in the easy to read version: 'it will be bad for you teachers of the law & pharisees. You are hypocrites. You give God one tenth of everything U own-even your mint, dill & cummin. But you dont obey the really important teachings of the law-being fair, showing mercy, being faithful. These are the things you should do. And you SHOULD also continue to do those other things'. Pls what are THOSE OTHER THINGS Jesus was talking about? Tithe paying is just a part of obeying the law. But tithes is part of the new testament. I guess this should end these arguments. |
@ogajim Thanks very much for your post. You are truly right. Tithing/First fruiting has come to be taken as a business for fake pastors. I will just say that because there are fake pastors doesn't mean we should not do as God instructed. We are all church members here at least I assume you are one. Therefore, why go to a church being run by a 'fake' pastor. Most people here do not trust their pastors to an extent then come here saying there are fake pastors. I think one should go to where he gets blessed and has peace of mind. Therefore when told to give offerings it won't be hard. First fruit and any other offering is not by force. Everything I have was not by my power, it was all by God's grace. I will therefore not give to God that which does not cost me something. Thats what they call sacrificial giving. I guess I rest my case here. |

Unfortunately the law of God cannot be understood my mere human understanding. Pray to God to open your spiritual eyes. Even Jesus said that you should lay up your treasures in heaven where no moth can destroy it. Dont' you read Psalms in the old testament. Its strange people just start saying its an old testament rule hence they cannot abide by it. The word of God is complete. Pls renew your mind. I wonder why we humans always try to twist God's word especially when it comes to having to part with our finances. No one is forcing you to tithe or pay firstfruits, ok. Don't make a big isue out of it. If you think its wrong, don't do it then but leave those who do it. We have enough proof to show it works for us. Shikena! |

You know what? I don't dispute the fact that there are fake pastors but really why worship in a church that you are not sure of the integrity of the pastor/prophet etc. This is where this whole issue lies. The church where i worship gives me assurance that I am in the right place. Some people say the pastor is a thief. Yeah, but your money goes to God and this brings me back to the question I asked. Why worship in that church then. Paying tithe/firstfruits/offerings is not by force! However, I pray God will make you see reason to. However, don't wonder why somethings are happening for some and nothing for you. |
Hello All, I stumbled on this thread and I could not help but drop my 2 cents. You are asking of testimonies. I have lots. However let me start by saying that I dropped my first fruits for the first time in 2005 as a corper. Yes a corper with no other form of tangible extra allowance. This was part of the NCCF building project. I initially thought it wasn't going to be possible but when i made up my mind to, God made a way and I have dropped my first fruits ever since till date. Miraculously I got a bank job shortly before end of service while some of my mates had to wait. Was it a reward of the first fruits? I cannot say but one thing is certain, he that sows in the Lord's fertile ground can never lack. When i dropped my 3rd first-fruits, i prayed to God for an increase in finances and get a better job. Funnily, my God that has a sense of humour gave me a job of which my monthly salary in the bank became the tithe I was paying. Yes, my pay increased to over 100% of what I was earning where God took me to. Please this new place was nothing short of a miracle too. Then so many other things I had been pursuing fell through. You know what? I don't dispute the fact that there are fake pastors but really why worship in a church that you are not sure of the integrity of the pastor/prophet etc. This is where this whole issue lies. The church where i worship now gives me assurance that I am in the right place. The blessings of God are not only monetary mind you, so even when I give and still suffer that month, I know the God that sees behind every corner is there to take me through. He has never failed. We have been blessed with 3 cars in 2 years in my family without taking a loan i.e. in present day Nigeria. Whatever I give God is what He gave me. Thats why as I give, more keeps coming and God keeps making a way. Give with love because even if you die for your brother and don't love him, its a wasted effort. As per helping friends and relatives, the reminder of my salary is what I used after tithing and God has made me a great financial pillar in this regard. This has worked for me. Note that not everything works for everyone. You are what you believe you are. All this too doesn't come also without living a holy life and all. We are all striving to be perfect as God is perfect. I hope this blessed a soul at least. |
