Basically you got it. The law that killeth became the perfect law of liberty when Jesus came. The law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus set us free from the law of sin and death. We follow the law of God after the inward man as we walk in newness of the spirit against oldness of the letter as the law is Holy. Romans 7:22-25. It takes grace to understand this.

@OP, According to the websters dictionary in today's English, ponography is:

Going by that definition above, the only pornography couples should be watching or reading is that created by themselves, meaning they are the ones that elicit such sexual excitement between themselves only.

Watching the known pornography triggers lust and expectations that most times cannot be met. Besides, most pornographic films are done by fornicators and/or adulterers. No one needs to tell you to flee all appearances of evil.

@Ihedinobi, I agree with quite a number of things you said. Jesus showed the real meaning of the law that is why he explained that adultery is not just the act but the action of the mind. That is why He said hate can be likened to killing as well as people can kill their brothers in their mind without the physical act.

He explained this law so that sin would not take occasion of the law to wrought all manner of evil works in the life of the believer.

When Jesus told the woman about to be stoned to go and sin no more that was GRACE. How some term grace as lawlessness still beats me. Christ interpreted the law as it should be done that is why the bible says the letter killeth, till the true meaning of the law is understood, some will still be living the wrong notion that Gods law are not applicable today.

Ken4Christ: Their inability to keep the laws was because of their carnal nature (Rom. 7:14). It takes a spiritual man to keep a spiritual law.

The only way this can happen is through Christ Jesus who fulfilled the righteousness of the law in us:

Romans 8:3-4
3 The law of Moses was unable to save us because of the weakness of our sinful nature. So God did what the law could not do. He sent his own Son in a body like the bodies we sinners have. And in that body God declared an end to sin’s control over us by giving his Son as a sacrifice for our sins.

Now we obey God not because of fear of penalty of sin but because we have a relationship with Him.
The Israelites did not have a relationship with God, their life was more or less a rule-based regimented life of sin and die but in Christ Jesus we are translated to a life of constant fellowship with the Father through the Holy Spirit as Christ has bridged the gap that seperated us from Him when Adam sinned at the beginning.

However, in the world today people now take liberty for licence. Jesus came to earth doing good and also He explained lots of times to those who felt they were righteous because of their acts that lacked God's Spirit, and even better explained to His disciples and the multitude the true meaning/interpretation of God's words and will to us.
After you have received Christ, and He dwells in your heart, the Holy Spirit in confirmation of God's word guides us in all truth I.e. The word of God which is the bible. He guides us in all truth on how to rightly divide the word of truth which is the entire bible not just part, in all areas of our lives.
We are to keep doing good (with the right heart Christ has given us) and not just think grace has excused us.

Christians go through more pain and delays in some cases as many times their absolute faith in Christ is put to the test. Much has been done for them because of the death of Christ for their sins and thus much more is expected of them when they need to trust God completely knowing God's ways and timing is not the same as man's ways/timing. When unbelievers take short cuts and crooked means to get their desires faster, the righteous have to endure hardness, pain, shame so as to get more renewed and enjoy a heavier weight of glory when God does it eventually. It gets to a point where they so much trust God, they lack or want nothing.

Besides, believers are always targeted by the enemy I.e. the devil as such they get to have more battles to fight.
In all this God's grace is always sufficient for us. And through it all the believer tends to experience God's love and faithfulness in all facets and areas of life.

The journey of the Israelites from Egypt to Canaan is a perfect example where God wanted to show the Israelites His love and faithfulness and groom them as His people but they could not really comprehend it, miracle after miracle yet all the saw ws the pain and suffering. I see the Christian life as an Israelite journey only that we have Christ and the Holy Spirit to guide us more.

Good observation. God is ready and willing to meet not just our needs but also our wants. He expects us to help others and that can only happen constantly if we have an overflow - beyond our needs. I realised that when I was yet to start working my prayer was for grace to always help others and give to His work as I was doing even with the little I had then and I have received God's blessing beyond measure because of such a simple prayer so much that giving is a pleasure and lifestyle now.

This is a good message. Weldone. I can see that the devil had easy access to attack Job first by going through the areas of his most fear I.e. The sin of his children.
After he was done with that, he attacked Jobs possessions, spoke through his wife and then afflicted his body as last resort when all others failed.
Yet Job stood though he despaired but he held on.
Job had the option of cursing God due to his freewill yet he refrained.

When I served long ago I still noticed those corpers whose church doctrine was against wearing trousers wear black skirts and some wore black skirts on top of trousers. I think the Jews basically understood what Jesus said here because even as Jesus said God was His father they saw it that He was equating Himself to God.

Finally, Jesus said:

John 8:58 - 58 Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.

Compare this to:

Exodus 3:14 - And God said to Moses, I AM WHO I AM and WHAT I AM, and I WILL BE WHAT I WILL BE; and He said, You shall say this to the Israelites: I AM has sent me to you!

Jesus is already God, what He tried to show was the relationship of His Father, Himself and the Spirit.

@OP, I am yet to see the scripture where Jesus said the exact words 'I am God' but He implied it like when he said:

'...before Abraham was, I AM' John 8:58. Ofcourse you know you who the 'I AM that I AM' is. Exodus 3:14.

It seems He preferred the people to reach that conclusion themselves.
He never wanted to take any glory to Himself while on earth and it is possible that it was because He was in the form of man.

However it was prophesied before (Isaiah 9:6) and other scriptures declare Him as God.

And also read Revelations 1:1-10 and see where Jesus said He is the Almighty, emphasis on verse 8.

To add to what I posted, whoever is involved would need to come back to Christ if he strayed or with prayer and divine wisdom cast out and close the access of the enemy through his or her authority in Christ and go and sin no more.

Some of the ways that allows such entry of the devil or prowler into ones life is all these 'spiritual washing' done in the river by some churches, sleeping with anyone who is not your husband or wife, blood convenants with people not to betray them or deny them and sin basically.

Spiritual husband or wife is usually the word coined by people for such activities but its actually the work of demons.

We should also guard out hearts and minds against all the evil stuff shown on TV, the internet as out of the heart flows the issues of life.

Whether you believe it or not, experienced it or not, they exist as familiar spirits/demons.

For Christians romancing with sin especially sin of fornication and adultery or those whose parents have had a convenant with these evil ones or initiate them to these evil ones, people who mix with bad friends or visit some very shady places for solutions sometimes unknowingly yoke themselves with demons who come in such 'spirit' husband or wife apparitions.

For those who say Christians cannot experience this, should think again. We have to constantly resist the devil.
There was a day I kept wondering how Christians still experience curses or such demonic attacks or inhabitations even after the work of Christ and then I got a revelation.

When these things curses, convenants etc are broken by accepting Christ into our lives, these things usually hover around looking for a crack to come back in and if the person still goes back to sin thinking since he is saved, he is immune and does not work out his salvation with fear and trembling and uphold God's laws, it is an avenue for the accuser of the brethren to have opportunity to come back in. Matthew 12:43-45. The devil is on a constant prowl looking for who to devour so do not make yourself vulnerable to his attacks.

We need to continually remain under the shadow of God's wings by doing His will continually with the help of the Holy Spirit and shun evil works.

This is true but prosperity gospel teachers are encouraging coveteousness teaching that gain translates to godliness. What we should be preaching should be spiritual prosperity. Spiritual prosperity translates into physical and material prosperity. The danger comes when we think that the gospel is all about financial prosperity and that if you are not wealthy you don't have faith. What then happens if the believer doesn't get wealthy? He then begins to doubt God and resort to self management.

This is Paul's warning to believers:

"They that |desire to| be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts," (1 Timothy 6:9).

"Charge them that are rich in this world, that . . . they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute" (1 Timothy 6:17-18 ).

Yes there are preachers that preach that. However, since there is no where in the bible that shows that, infact the bible says seek first God's kingdom and His righteousness and all other things will be added unto us, we should kbow they are not preaching the truth.
For if a man gains the whole world, but loses his soul, it is a waste.

The bible says it is God that teaches us to profit. When we follow God first, He will step in and show us where the value that can be added to mankind that has material wealth attached to it is.

It is better than just beating around the bush and fruitless effort chasing shadows.

Jesus summarised His work on earth in those verses which is deliveraance, freedom, restoration, health, wealth, joy, peace, righteousness and abundance. This I see as true prosperity.
