kudos should be given to Obasanjo for his ingenuity, his act on capacity building and local content development (in other words requiring the domestication of all engineering works with the aim of achieveing 70% local content by 2010) single-handedly revived the hopes of the aspiring Nigerian engineer and developed the Nigeria economy as a whole- ever wondered why the economy was so rosy under his regime. Unfortunately Yaradua didnt buy into the idea, however Gooodluck is actively following it up .

Unfortunately there is no proper regulation and licensing of engineering profession in Nigeria. The result is that anyone with an engineering degree call himself or herself an Engineer.  In North America, the title "Engineer" is a protected title. and unless you are licensed as a Professional Engineer, you can not call yourself an Engineer (though you may work in engineering).  it does not matter that you have an Engineering degree.

wrong engineering in Nigeria is regulated by COREN, you can not attach the title Engr. as a prefix to your name if you hav'nt been certified.

If you think that, the directive of Jonathan is the reason for this drop, you would have been able to be buying Kerosene now at 50 naira in every filling station.

the kerosine issue is complicated as you can read from my excerpts below

as stated by Blue tooth- the rise in the price of kerosene is caused by some unscrupulous suppliers of Diesel. initially due the the price difference btw diesel (=N=110) and kerosine (=N=50.00) 2008 thereabouts. some evil geniuses came up with a way of beating the competition - a mixing formulae was developed- for a typical 33000 liter truck, the suppliers buys 20,000 litres of diesel and mixes it with 13,000 liters of kerosine in what is popularly termed "rice and beans". the beauty of this mixture is it still meets the octane range required by the diesel engines. unfortunately the trend caught on and every tom, dick and harry is into this mixing, the resultant is the perpetual scarcity of kerosene. and the law of demand/supply and price takes full effect- basically the price of kerosene goes up- shikena!!!!!

There's a difference between factory price and retail price. Dangote's factory price was 1500 and he has reduced this to 1350. I doubt it if that reduction will trickle down to the end user because 150naira is not much considering transportation, etc factors to be considered. I hope I'm wrong

retail price of goods produced and consumed within Nigeria can not be over 80% of the ex-factory price value. The "koko' is that the soaring price of cement @ 2700 has dropped, u can attribute it to wateva you wish, factoryprice, retail price, "fresh air' price sef.
