Logicboy03: Dear muslims, A brilliant article no doubt. Had this been from a page in TIME magazine it would not have been out of place. Assuming sincere intentions, I would commend the OP on the suggestions raised about re orientating some of our northern brothers on how to properly conduct themselves within modern civilized society. However the responses from several posters reveal sheer ignorance and plain simplicity. Muslims have lived peacefully with Jews and Christians for centuries. To now come on this forum gloating over the perceived intolerance and violence of Muslims is testament to the fact that the propaganda thrust of contemporary mainstream media largely continues to succeed on the simple minded. Islam is not a passive religion. There is no need to be apologetic about this. We are not likely to turn the other cheek. If values which we hold sacred are violated, we would raise objections within the confines of the law. Any losses that may consequently occur should be counted as collateral damage. We believe our God is omnipotent but we also believe in fulfilling our earthly obligations. We would not resign ourselves to prayers alone if figures we hold in high esteem are slandered frivolously. Islam is a religion of peace only when justice and respect for human dignity are the rules of engagement within the society. Islam will never be a religion of peace when Muslims are driven from their homes and their sacred places desecrated with guns and missiles. Islam will not be a religion of peace when our lands are invaded under spurious accusations. Islam can not be a religion of peace when murderous insurgents and self seeking despots are aided to power in Muslim lands by foreign governments. The peculiar situation in northern Nigeria is unfortunate. Islam, being a potent tool of social evolution in human society may tend towards great benefit or cause devastating harm. The colonial government of the then northern region under lord lugard and his successors deliberately starved the Islamic institutions of funds rendering the poorly educated populace susceptible to the influences of deviant ideologies. Our own subsequent leaders then made matters worse by nonchalantly enriching themselves at the expense of the majority who continue to lead an existence of penury. Simply put: a hungry man is an angry man, now add a deviant ideology to complete the equation. How many times have protests resulting in death occurred in Bahrain, KSA, Qatar, Malaysia; rather we hear of protests in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Nigeria giving casualty figures. Still, Islamic countries with a conscientious government have lower incidences of violent crime when compared to their counterparts with similar standards of living. We are yet to authorise the use of nuclear weapons on innocent civilians. We have not built concentration camps for people of differing faiths or race. Remember we don’t have a common leader; any group without a leader is doomed to chaos. Mustapha Ataturk abolished the caliphate after WW1 probably acting on orders from “above”. Christianity had a 600+ yr headstart, so I believe we would sort ourselves out. The future is bright. |
^no, it is not a waste, you never know. someone might read it and decide to make a change. |
hey ya, so sad. guess everyone has a thing or two to learn from this. losing a loved one is the most psychologically traumatising event which everyone passes through sooner or later. the author has given really good advice (except for the nasheed aspect). reminds me of this hadith that goes: "Gabriel came to the Prophet sallallahu alehi wasallam and said: 'O Muhammad, live as long as you like, for you are to die. Do whatever deed you wish, for you are to be rewarded. Love whomever you wish, for you are to be parted. And know that the honor of the believer is in the night prayer and his glory is being free from want from the people." I cannot verify the strength of this hadith though. |
The God complex. Some people wonder why we say there’s a God that we worship. They say the universe started from a spontaneous quantum explosion. They call the force that orders everything “nature”. Well you call it nature, we say “God”. We say it was this same God that caused this quantum explosion that set up the whole universe thing. Then they wonder why we are religious. We are religious because we are in awe of this Great Force that set up the whole thing. Then there’s the question of justice. Everyone is born with an innate sense of justice that even a mere child in kindergarten would feel bad seeing a classmate being beaten for a wrong committed by another child. So we are religious because we expect this Great Force to right all the injustices which will definitely continue to occur during our existence on this plane. Our law courts can only attempt, they would never give perfect justice. An analogy that comes to mind is that of a mass murderer that has killed several people. How many times do you kill him, or how many life sentences do you give him. Or have you considered those with severe inherited medical conditions through no fault of theirs, that they should have unjustly suffered in vain? No, never. Those that want a community of mankind without belief in God should get ready to live in a society without laws if they do not want to be hypocritical because the legal codes in operation throughout most of the world today are based on one religious code of conduct or the other. They should brace themselves for everyman to live by their conscience alone; then they would see some real life psychopathic drama. So we believe in God and we believe every man would have justice. This is a fixed matter like night and day. And we will not even talk about magic or spirits which these silly atheists deny. Monotheism and the concept of worship through proxies. We start here by considering an idol worshiper. A simple example being a man that has a small statue in some place that he places some sacrifice before, and then makes requests from. Usually believing without any concrete basis that this statue would answer him or act has an intermediary between himself and some higher power. Technically speaking, this man has hurt no one and has done no wrong; he may even be a better neighbour, co-worker, business partner or a generally better human than many people in mainstream religion. However closer observation of the universe would reveal that only a single force could be responsible for the interrelated plethora of natural phenomena. Several forces in control would vie for superiority amongst themselves. Lesser forces would also struggle amongst themselves and even attempt to become the supreme force. As such from a religious perspective, any form of devotion to these lesser forces is fallacious sacrilege. Hence we can conclude that monotheism is the most logical and practical form of worship. Today we see many people, even within mainstream religion guilty of this practice. They worship or pray to angels, prophets, saints, spirits etc. while they should have been worshipping the Supreme being directly. Indeed, that would have been better for them. Faith. It can be observed that some individuals in this present age have started to describe religious “faith” as “a form of belief without evidence”. Obviously, this is a grand delusion. Were this to hold true, then we will gladly declare that Islam is not a “faith” at all, as there is material untainted evidence for this religion. Islam is based on the infallible Quran about which there is no doubt. This is the evidence/witness for Islam; other beliefs subsequently evolve from this book. Everyone should read the Quran and acquaint themselves with its wonders. But to not read or want to read it at all would make one be like an illiterate who refuses to educate himself believing that his ignorant illiteracy is sufficient for him. Quite easily understood, innit? |
Isn't there a hadith that says one should leave doubtful things, and common sense just says the same. Mutah is a practice that is instinctively revolting to anyone with a modicum of morality. doesn't Islam preach patience and fasting as way to curb innate desires, mutah seems too much like an easy way out. Allahu Alam. |
how perfect God is! extremely beautiful. just one verse, with layers upon layers of meaning. the Quran really evokes reverence. |
andromida: I am not a muslim but will tell you this God is not testing you. This is purely the work of a fallen angel commonly called spirit husband. You need to take a firm stand and rebuke it. No joke otherwise if care is not taken 5 yrs later you will still be talking same story.here we go. they hav com again wit dia easy com easy go mentality. any one who is poor, sick or going through any form of difficulty is surely under demonic attack. even those that die young must have been commiting some kind of sin secretly. this is why they keep running from church to church, pillar to post looking for wetin no loss. there are seasons of life: drought and flood, winter and spring, dry and rainy seasons. same goes for the human condition: sometimes you win sometimes you lose. we do not go along with this your ideology madame, carry you epistle elsewhere. |
tbaba1234: 2. alhayyu alqayyoomuright, there's a reason why the earth has not accidentally, or spontaneously left its orbit. or why solar flares have not lit the earth ablaze. comprehensible init. |
this analogy is so deep and impressive. you would barely notice the wing of a mosquito. man, people running all over the place, trampling on people's rights, even killing just to attain wealth and status in this low life. then some of them even end up dying miserable deaths, while they have no knowledge of what lies after the grave. may God deliver us. the Christian believes people that don't join in the worship of christ will go to he'll, that's not intolerance. the atheist believes religious people are in delusion and are fooled by religion, that's not intolerance...... |
ol boy, usisky go soon start anoda religion o. I was almost taking the clown serious. I am convinced Paris love is a man. |
oh my, subhanallah, your story is a sad one indeed. may Almighty Allah create an easy path for you out of this difficulty. I would say what any muslim will say and would have said to you: that is you should be prayerful and patient. now what duration of time is ideal for "patience"? that; I have no answer to. but know that Allah tests the best of his slsves with the most severe hardships. after they overcome inshallah, they are more honoured for their longsuffering. the issue of financial hardship, and not having a job, finding it difficult to make ends meet is just too common in this country. and I suggest seeking practical ways out of this situation while praying. think of relatives, organisations, trusted friends that can help you with some start up capital to establish a carefully planned business of your own. getting a salaried job these days is not easy for most people. also, sometimes there's a divine wisdom behind events that we are oblivious of as humans. if you are having financial difficulties as a couple, why do you think having a child would make things easier? pls sister, inshallahu, your troubles will soon be over. thank God for little things: having a loving, healthy husband, that you love in return and are considerate for, a simple smile is a gift that should be treasured. your intellect is still intact, you have not compromised your religion etc. also being together should help lessen the burden as 2 are stronger than 1. you will surely smile about these times later in your life inshallah. you may also need to seek help in prayers cautiously from people who are more knowledgeable in those matters, and that you think you can trust. really some people have had their problems compounded by going to the wrong people for help. may Almighty Allah guide both your steps. |
^forget about it my brother, I only quoted you. maybe some other time I will give a specific example, for now, no time. off to prepare for Fajr. |
From the sayings of the Salaf about Truthfulness and Sincerity Collected by Abdul Wahhab bin Muhammad as-Salafi Translated by Abbas Abu Yahya 1- The slave of Allaah cannot actualize 'You are the One that we worship' except with two principles: one of them is following the Messenger and the second is having sincerity (Ikhlaas) for the one worshipped. Ibn al-Qayyim – ‘Tahdeeb al-Madrij’ 68 2- Sincerity for Allaah is that a person's intent is for Allaah and intends everything for Him, causing fountains of wisdom to spring up from his heart on to his tongue. Ibn Taymeeyah – 'an-Naboowaat' 147 3- Whenever the sincerity of the slave of Allaah strengthens, his worship becomes more complete. Ibn Taymeeyah – 'al-Fatawa' 10/198 4- In relation to the amount of Tawheed a slave has for his Lord, and his sincerity for the religion for Allaah is the amount he is deserving of the generosity of Allaah upon him, from intercession and other things. Ibn Taymeeyah – ‘As-Sarim al-Monkey’ 390 5- A person does not show his actions to the creation, except due to his ignorance of the Greatness of the Creator. Ibn Rajab – ‘Kalimat ul-Ikhlaas’ 31 6- Ikhlaas cannot be achieved except after having Zuhud, and there is no Zuhud except after having Taqwa, and Taqwa is following the commands (of Allaah and His Messenger) and keeping away from prohibitions. Ibn Taymeeyah – 'al-Fatawa' 1/94 7- Strive today in implementing Tawheed, since there is nothing that will deliver you to Allaah except Tawheed. Also, be eager in fulfilling its rights, since there is nothing that can save you from the fire except Tawheed. Ibn Rajab – ‘Kalimat ul-Ikhlaas’ 54 8- Whoever is sincere in regards to the actions of the Deen, which he does for Allaah, then he is from the pious Awliyah of Allaah. Ibn Taymeeyah – 'al-Fatawa' 1/8 9- If you correct your hidden deeds subsequently Allaah will correct your outward deeds. Ibn Taymeeyah – 'al-Fatawa' 3/277 12- Certainly the strength of Yusuf's sincerity - alayhi sallam - was stronger than the beauty of Azeez's wife, stronger than her allure, and his want for her. Ibn Taymeeyah – 'al-Fatawa' 10/602 13 – The heart of the truthful person is filled with the light of truth and he has the light of Emaan. Ibn al-Qayyim – 'Madarij as-Salikeen' 2/282 14- The sincere person is fortified by Allaah due to his worship of Him Alone, intending his Face Alone. He has humility for Him Alone, and hope in Him Alone, requesting from Him Alone, submissiveness for Him Alone and has a dire need of Him Alone. Ibn al-Qayyim – 'Madarij as-Salikeen' 2/202 15- There is nothing that drives away the afflictions of this world except Tawheed. That is why the supplication of the distressed person is with Tawheed. Such as, the supplication of Yunus. The distressed person does not supplicate by what Yunus supplicated with except that Allaah releases him from his hardship with Tawheed. There is nothing more gruesome for the distressed person except shirk, and there is nothing that can rescue you from it except Tawheed, it is the refuge for the creation, its shelter, its fortress and its aid. Ibn al-Qayyim – 'al-Fawaid' 96 18- Without doubt al-Ikhlaas negates the reason for entering into the Fire, therefore, who ever enters the fire, from those who said: ‘‘la illah ila Allaah’ (there is none worthy of worship except Allaah)’ then this is proof that he never implemented the sincerity of ‘‘la illah ila Allaah’’ which would have prohibited him from the fire. Ibn Taymeeyah – 'al-Fatawa' 10/261 21- Without doubt, the sincere person has tasted the sweetness of his worship for Allaah, this is what stops him from performing worship for other than Allaah, since there is nothing more sweet or more blessed for the heart than the sweetness of Emaan in Allaah the Lord of the worlds. Ibn Taymeeyah – 'al-Fatawa' 10/215 23- Sincerity is not combined in the heart along with the love of being praised by the people, and being commended by them, and also having greed for what the people have, except like water being combined with fire. Ibn al-Qayyim – 'al-Fawaid' 267 24- Ikhlaas and Tawheed are a tree in the heart. Its branches are good actions. Its fruits are a good life in this world, and eternal comfort in the Hereafter, and just like in Paradise the fruits whose supply is not cut off, nor are they out of reach, likewise are the fruits of Tawheed and Ikhlaas in this world. Ibn al-Qayyim – 'al-Fawaid' 292 26- Allaah loves from His slave that he beautifies his tongue with the truth, and his heart with Ikhlaas and love, turning repentantly and reliance upon Allaah. Ibn al-Qayyim – 'al-Fawaid' 327 27- Having sincerity for the Deen of Allaah is the foundation of justice, likewise committing Shirk with Allaah is a great injustice. Ibn Taymeeyah – 'al-Fatawa' 1/87 source:http://wathakker.info/english/articles/view.php?id=915 |
Tbaba, that was a beautiful story. Guess you had a lot of Allah's mercy and blessings on you to survive that "fantastic" evangelical onslaught as a mere teen. especially loved this: Advice to young unmarried/married muslims: Learn as much as you can about Islam and pass it to your kids in an intelligent way. Let Islam grow on them. Do not keep them in environments where there is danger that their deen would be compromised. Teach them about the seerah. |
maclatunji: ^How naive? Visit the family section and see 10s, 100s of women who are desperately trying to figure out their husbands, wondering how or why they have changed.yeah right, you sure can be difficult to understand! ![]() |
tbaba1234: 7 Things your Muslim wife won’t tell youWORD!!! |
^right, men are mostly simple to a fault. these ladies have us hanging to the tail of their clothes. many a grown man would be attracted to, and marry a woman just because she is beautiful and nothing else, coming home from work and smiling sheepishly on seeing his trophy wife. there's not much to write about men most people don't know already nah. |
good! the Quran is really wonderful. it has proven benefits in this life and the hereafter. obviously a sincere reciter of the Quran and a non reciter are not the same, the reciter is bound to be superior all things being equal. |
that there is only one God, Muhammad, on whom be peace, is His messenger and the last of the prophets, and the Quran was revealed for all mankind as guidance, mercy, and also as a warning. |
^right, I get your drift. they actually enjoy watching the propaganda. the way some guys keep watching WWE even after they know it's not real. |
STEP ONE All ignorant islamophobes and potential islamophobes should stop watching cnn. cnn is a medium of propaganda, and psychological stereotyping. their little brother al jazeera english is set to look like an objective alternative but they are fingers on the same hand. wisen up. |
Jarus: I actualloy met mine inside public transport! What about that?wow, you're kidding right. u have just been confirmed as the baddest guy on this thread. but seriously, i don't think i can dare that. even those you know some stuff about make you quite cautious, but a stranger? i really don't know. guess it worked for u though. Allah knows best. |
Dan_de_Numeruno: Q6. Killing an animal is a ruthless act. Why then do Muslims consume non-vegetarian food?vegetarians are in delusion. plants are living things, they even reproduce. Go away, come back when you are sincere to know the truth. |
fellis: It is at times like this that LagosShia's knowledge is usually useful. The dude used to LIVE on this section, he would probably have answered OP by now.Right, normally LS would have rushed at this poster with guns blazing to answer him. but even lagos shia with all his tenacity will get tired of answering such questions as these, I mean; how many times can you say the same thing? |
Islam really showed up these creatures: the jinn, and also disproved several superstitions. a knowledgeable muslim's mind is always at peace. God has really done us a big favour but most of us are not aware. Islam is peace. btw, anyone knows what happened to kiwi992? his story was really dramatic. I believe God speaks to humans by various means |
tbaba1234: I typed the above with my phone...very true sir, men often get heartbroken too in spite of the popular opinion that men break women's hearts. all in all there are several traps around the whole "romantic relationship" thing, and if you come out intact, there's always a big scar to show for it. however, the halal option is not even popular amongst most mulims these days. we've all been sucked into the "can I have your number?", "I'll take you out on saturday", etc. culture. God help us. |
tbaba1234: How do you know if a man is romantic when you are not married to him?tbaba!!!.... falls down |

man, the story about the jinns in that RAF house is really intriguing, a hafiz jinn? i mean where do you start your ruqyah from. i know these things will be happening well in the UK. those oyibo guys, i don't trust them an arm's length. they show plain magic on tv and call it entertainment. |
deols u are a bundle of passion and emotions. why will you make an emotional decision like not posting on nl again just like dat. if na play stop am o. some of us benefit a lot from your posts to just accept that. to answer your question. no., being cool or temperamental is not Islamic. Islam is following the Quran and the sunnah to the best of one's ability. imagine a world where everyone was the same. so people have to be different. we have Abu Bakr(the truthful, and loyal), and then we have Umar(who established the Islamic state). we also have Fatima(the resplendent one), and we have Aisha(who transmitted several hadith). the above pairs had contrasted characters, yet each was an excellent Muslim. a person may be "cool" in a particular situation and go against the sunnah. another person may be expressive or outspoken in another situation and still be wrong in the light of the sunnah. may Allah lead us to the balanced way, and He knows best. |
truth is men generally have abused the permission of polygamy. so much so that some have even taken polygamy to be a command rather than a permissible thing. Islam emphasizes practicality in all things, and with the cultural changes we are witnessing in present day Africa, I dare say polygamy is no longer practical except in rare cases. men have selfishly exploited this permission at the expense of the happiness of so many women and their children. during our grandparents' generation and before then, polygamy was a non issue but these days: my friends who were raised in polygamous homes are the strongest opponents of polygamy. may Allah guide us to the right path. |
