PoliticsRe: Fashola's Performance Is Overblown – CACOL by softwareman(m):
deeptesting: Stick to the facts mentioned by CACOL, it is about LASG and not FG,i am one person who is not been deceived by the media hype and praise singers of the governor as over performing; that is not to say that he is docile but few points mentioned are worth considering:

1.We have undertaken an assessment of the 57 councils in the state and it has proved that the LASG is over-hyped for doing very little.”

2. The group’s hypothesis had shown that the budgetary impact on infrastructural development in the state was not accessible.

3. “The budget of the state is in excess of N20bn monthly with little to show for it..
So let's stick with the 'facts'mentioned by CACOL.I will use the points you enumerated.

So let's go over the issues one by one:
1.We have undertaken an assessment of the 57 councils in the state and it has proved that the LASG is over-hyped for doing very little.”
How can an organization that purports that it carries out a study, make this statement without the slightest shred of credible empirical substantiation. To me this is nothing but intellectual fraud. There is no issue to address here because there no facts to contest but an expression of opinion.

2. The group’s hypothesis had shown that the budgetary impact on infrastructural development in the state was not accessible.
The group hypothesis!? Honestly unless i don't understand English,i need someone to explain the statement,'budgetary impact on infrastructural development in the state was not accessible.' to me.
Accessible from where. Whose study of budgetary impact on infrastructural impact are they referring to? their own or the Lagos state government's? And if it is not accessible, then what did they base their hypothesis on?

3. “The budget of the state is in excess of N20bn monthly with little to show for it..”
And this is the result of a study? No facts & figures to substantiate? Not even one line on how they arrive at this conclusion. This is nothing but a subjective expression of opinion.
Conclusion:
Going through these issues one by one, can you not see that these CACOL are nothing but a bunch of mercenary and intellectual frauds!?

All they have done is tantamount to hawking falsehood and exhibiting pathetic illogic!

i was not promoting New York and California as heavily indebted states. I only cited examples of states in the US that have debts and are still economically stronger than the ecomonomies of major countries even in the western world.

Are you aware of how many jobs the US has lost to China ? I guess not. Do some research on fundamental analysis and come back.

deeptesting: Don't tribalise issues here are you so intellectually backward that you cannot counter the issues raise by those you claim to be Igbos? We should look beyond tribal sentiment to move our country forward,I am a Lagosian and a Nigeria, going round the 57 local government underscores the development and media hype accorded BRF, considering Lagos state annual budget and internal generated revenue and also the budgetary impact on infrastructural development in the state was not accessible. These are facts that we want you to counter and not otherwise.
i agree with you. This is not a tribal matter.
let's leave sentiments out and just deal with the issues intellectually.
The truth i intend to provide facts to support is that Fashola performance is actually under BLOWN!

benchmark number 2:Continuity of policy conceptualization and implementation
This is one thing the lagos state govt of tinubu / fashola got right and the PDP federal government got completely wrong.
For example:
Where is NEEDs today,GONE WITH THE OBASANJO GOVERNMENT
Where is vision 20: 20/20 today? GONE WITH YARADUA GOVT
where Yaradua's seven point agenda? GONE WITH YARADUA.
today the noise is about Sure-p. IT IS GOING WITH JONATHAN IN 2015!
and all these are successive PDP governments!
Sorry i digress.
Every single idea, program and projects conceptualised by the tinubu administration has been implemented by the man tinubu calls the ACTUALIZER: Babatunde Fashola.
The only one he has not completed but which he promised to deliver before the end of this year is the lagos rail transport system.
Just the facts mam. No sentiment.

Debt saves time.

Is it that knowledge base of this forum is so low the you have to question most of what you read?
Please tell them. Califirnia and new york states are richer than most countries and have debts.
What matters is your monthly IGR. It is economically stupid to try to finance capital projects with cash, even if you have it.

Alpha Beta Consulting (ABC) is wholly owned by Tinubu. And this consortium is responsible for all collections in Lagos state. Ask your banker colleagues. All the withholding taxes, autoreg (vehicle license renewal ) payments, epay payments, land use charges, water bills and ALL collections due to Lagos State Government are credited into ABC account on behalf on LIRS. There is a contractual agreement between LIRS and ABC . The issue is that whatever ABC remits at the month end is what LIRS receives. If you have anybody at LIRS, Alausa, pls re- confirm. There are of billions of naira as residual balances in ABC accounts with all Nigerian banks . And truth is, ain't nothing Fashola can do about that. He tried to shake ABC off in his first tenure , but that resulted in a standoff btw himself and Tinubu. Now he just looks the other way.

I think an investigative journalist here can verify most of what I posted.
I think the world bank has gone even further than you.Prior to the partnership between the world bank and lamata, and as part of due diligence, an investigation was caused to be done on the alpha beta consulting and all the allegations that you just shamelessly rehashed were found to be false.
Secondly, a group that calls itself the true face of lagos petitioned the EFCC with the same set of allegations. It was investigated and thrown into the thrash can it belongs.
If you are sure of your facts, write your own petition as well and forward it to EFCC.
ABC is very instrumental to the consistent IGR growth of lagos, so why would Fashola jettison a policy that is yielding results?

The only toll road in lagos as i write is the lekki / epe expressway. And there are alternative routes.
The Public / private partnership policy of infrastructure development is not peculiar to lagos. The incompetent and inept PDP federal govt has also adopted the same policy but could not achieve anything with it on the lagos / ibadan expressway. What you are seeing is the ability of a master administrator to combine infrastructural development and infrastructural investment.
Again this is a first in this country. Many, many have tried it and failed.
If i get you right, it then means the only road the govt of fashola has constructed to date is this road.

PoliticsRe: Fashola's Performance Is Overblown – CACOL by softwareman(m): 11:01am On Aug 16, 2013
To me the starting point is to look at the internationally accepted standards for measuring performance of government.
Afterwards we can then use those to benchmarks to do a scientific analysis of the performance of the lagos state government both under fashola and tinubu, so that we can then draw our conclusions based on facts and figures.
benchmark Number one:Economic Growth
Let me take you back to 1999:
The avarage monthly IGR of lagos was 650 million naira
the ratio of capital to recurrent expenditure in Lagos state was 33:57 %
The size of the first budget tinubu presented to the Lagos state house of assembly was 1 billion naira.
fast forward
by 2009, the balance has been shifted decisively with 61% going to capital expenditure and 39% to recurrent expenditure.
As at 2012, capital expenditure .
In y2012, the size of the budget has grown to 492 billion and the recorded budget performance was 89%. The highest recorded by any state or PDP controlled the federal government.
These are verifiable facts and i challenge anybody on this forum to challenge me if you can.
The Other benchmarks i will be looking at shortly are
1. Continuity of policy conceptualization and implementation
Number of completed capital budgets
sustainability of security and safety of life and property
Ability to attact and continue to attract foreign investments and the degree of public / private sector partnership.
Please stay tuned.

MAYOWAAK: Jega’s Spokesman Denies Confirming Application By Atiku, Nine PDP Govs to Register A New Party

Kayodu Idowu, Chief Press Secretary to INEC Chairman, Attahiru Jega, has denied a report by Daily Independent saying he confirmed the application for registration of a new party, the Peoples Progressive Movement (PPM) by former Vice-President and nine Peoples Democratic Governors.

READ: Atiku Abubakar, Nine PDP Govs Float New Party, Seeks Registration By INEC

Mr Idowu in a letter addressed to the editor of the Lagos based Daily Independent newspaper said he refutes the story attributed to him by the reporter.

In the letter, Idowu said: “you cited me in a story titled ‘Nine PDP Govs Float Party, Apply for Registration’ as confirming to you that the former Vice-President and some Governors of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party have applied for the registration of a party to be known as
the Peoples Progressive Movement (PPM). Your reporter will confirm to you that I
never said such a thing.”

“The question your reporter asked was if there is any pending application for party registration
in the Commission, and I confirmed that an application, as always, is pending. Please note: He mentioned no name of any particular group (because he confessed he didn’t even have it) or the
promoters,” he added

While asking the editor of the newspaper to urgently put the telephone conversation he had with the newspaper reporter into proper perspective, Mr Idowu clarified that “INEC, by law, receives applications for party registration and treats them on individual merit. It makes no public issue of the party identity or their promoters. For avoidance of doubt, I did not discuss any party identity or promoters with your reporter because he didn’t have enough information to provide such detail in his enquiry.”

Esiere: All these internet dogs of PDP...I wonder how they think sometimes. If PDP loses nine governors and your are here shouting victory I really do not know what is wrong with simple logical thinking. Among these were governors who used their state machineries last election to win votes for GEJ despite all the noise and opposition from the North that they deserved the automatic presidential slot based on their party rotation scheme. And we are also taking about governors who could use their influence, incumbency and state machineries to gain votes forming another party and you are here insulting logics that GEJ will coast to victory. Do you mean coast or GEJ will be exiled to Ivory Coast after his 2015 defeat?

For the record, it is evident that GEJ only has South-South and a good part of South -East to win. He is a loser in the South West and if the news eventually becomes true ,he is a big loser in the North. This is just 2013 . The PDP internet dogs should be more concerned about the possibility of PDP losing more key party members and governors before 2015.
The PDP will also be shocked by how much the ethnic / religious card that they are banking on will not only fail, but will actually work against the most inept and incompetent president we ever had.

Please concern yourselves with the politics of your state, region or national. Stay away from Anambra local politics if you are not from Anambra or an Igbo, and if you do not live in Anambra (non-Igbo).
This is what i don't understand. Are you suggesting that any other nigerian aside from IGBOS should not and cannot comment on Anambra Politics because it is local?
You cant talk of one Nigeria in one breath and talk tribal exclusion in another breath.
If this is your attitude to non-easterners merely contributing in a public forum to a forthcoming election in the east, what would you do if they live in the east and carry on business like you people do in other people's land.
So because the election is in the east, APC supporters do not have any right to campaign for the candidates of their party?
So if Non-igbos APC members comes to anambra to campaign for the APC candidate is there anything wrong with it? If they choose to in this forum, is there anything wrong with it?
Are Non-igbo PDP barred from campaigning for their candidates as well?
Am i barred from discussing igbo politics because am Yoruba? Who makes that law?
