PoliticsRe: Soludo Sues APGA Over Disqualification by softwareman(m): 1:34pm On Aug 23, 2013
bismarck: The problem in this country is that those who have been prepared for leadership through many years of educational trainning, international exposure and concrete achievements are senselessly schemed out from the electoral process. Else which other aspirants in APGA, PDP or even APC can match half of Soludo- a man who created real opportunities for thousand of jobless youths and hence, millions of families during his time at CBN?
As long as there is no room for independent candidature, Soludo must be allowed to contest in APGA primaries- simple! For how long should we continue to field mediocres? People come here to talk idly about party politics.. One must realize that imposition of candidates at party primaries is the reason for low voter turn-out in most elections and the hence, the rigging nonsense that has become the bane of Nigerian politics. Or how could have a cultist, Evans Bipi become an assemblyman and an old, village thief TA Orji become governor if not for such heartless impositions? Can one in all conscience deny that there aren't persons who are 1 millon X more qualified than these two, in their respective areas before and during elections?

NDI ANAMBRA MUST ENSURE THAT THE RIGHT CANDIDATES EMERGE NOT JUST IN APGA BUT IN ALL THE PARTIES!We must use party primaries to eradicate all these polliticians that have held the state down for so long with nothing concrete to point as achievements: the likes of Peter Obi, Ngige, Andy Uba, et al.
Your logic , to me , is predicated on the fallacy that the rank and file of party members vote in a political party primaries.False.
In the nigerian context, a party primary is most likely going to throw up the worst possible candidate because it is completely based on naira power or the choice of a dominant player within the party concerned.
This, to me, if you review the history of party primaries and their outcome, is the reality on ground.

How many of you soludo supporters here can affect the outcome of APGA primary against a candidate that enjoys obi / umeh support? Indeed how many of you guys here are card carrying members of the APGA?

Soludo should count himself lucky that obi and co saved him from dissipating energy and resources from contesting a primary he will surely lose without their support.

@topic:
Soludo still doesn't understand politics 101.
rank and file card carrying members, mostly controlled by the governor, decides outcome of primaries in any political party.

If obi and the power that be in APGA do not want him, he should chill or move on.

If he feels his support base extends- beyond internet political activist- to the grassroots he should try another platform.

Please do not let start another unnecessary argument. read what these guys(who are complaining) post themselves and tell me if it not obvious to even them what rules they broke.

One of them made me to laugh so much by reminding me of bill clinton during the Monica Lewinsky sex scandal:
playing with the meaning of words!

The other guy was trying to argue that when he wrote omo odua , he was not referring to a particular tribe!

Whenever you see anyone trying to re-define and rejig the dictionary meaning of obvious words, just know they do not have any valid point.

Why is sincere 9jerian allowed to break several forum rules in the prentence of complains.

This nonsense should stop
While it is against the rule, i think it is understandable.
To me , the problem is with nairaland rules: You cannot ban a man and also ban his means of expressing his grievance to your action.
i also think it promotes abuse of power( by any MOD with that tendency).

thirdly, i strongly believe a poster antecedents should count for something. we are not perfect; we sometimes lose our cool and do things we regret later.

While i often disagree with most of these guys, i happen to feel that their presence actually enriches the quality of the discussions we need to be having in this forum.

Oam4j, i just finished reading the complaint of a guy that was banned and will like to commend you for the matured manner you handle complaints.
It is interesting to note that even when people complain about your actions, they only end up showing how fair minded and tolerant you are.
For example, i was motivated to post this after reading a post from a fellow forum users (pointB(*).
There is no one that will read that post and wont conclude that the guy deserves the ban.
However, i want to appeal to you not to fall into the trap of banning anyone for more than four days max.
To me, it's waste of time and only serves to multiply the instances of multiple IDs you have deal with.
I will therefore humbly appeal to you have a re-think on the three weeks ban imposed on the guy.
The truth is that this constant exchange of tribal slur on this forum is diminishing all of us, and in a way we are victims of the kind of generalized tribal slur the guy was rightly banned for.

Was it a PDP agenda or yaradua agenda? because if it was a PDP agenda it would not have died with yaradua.

PDP is so useless as a party that there is never continuity of programmes con ceptualisation and implementation between successive governments of the same party.

there ought to be some modicum of honour even among thiefs, you cannot hope to reap where you did not sow.

PoliticsRe: The Foolish APC I Know by softwareman(m): 5:13pm On Aug 20, 2013
idumuose: @ Aridin sorry payless:what have Ɣ☺u got to say about these remarks
Credited to El Rufai who is a prominent APC memmber:

The attention of Mallam Nasir El-Rufai has been drawn to statements from Generals Muhammadu Buhari and Ibrahim Babangida purporting to be responses to the advice he gave both men to retire.

Since Babangida libelled whole generations of Nigerian youth as being unfit for leadership, age has become an issue in the coming elections. While it is true that neither youth nor age supplies wisdom on their own, it makes sense to ask those who have been recurring decimals in our country’s sorry history to leave the stage. That is all El-Rufai asked of these men who seem to think that their failure to do their best for Nigeria when they had the chance qualifies them for a return to office. Our people surely deserve better.

El-Rufai is amazed that General Buhari cannot debate this matter without scurrying to the gutter, making claims that are baseless and unsupported by any facts. Mallam El-Rufai’s tenure as FCT minister was a period of stellar performance in remaking our federal capital. Despite the difficult decisions that had to be taken to restore Abuja, Mallam El-Rufai continues to receive deserved praise and recognition for his achievements in restoring the Abuja master plan, introducing Nigeria’s first computerised land registry and helping thousands of Nigerians achieve their dreams of home ownership in the federal capital. Buhari is perhaps one of a tiny few blinded by their prejudice from recognising the quality of El Rufai’s service.

That same prejudice accounts for the baseless claims of corruption Buhari levels against El Rufai. The fact is that Mallam El-Rufai served Nigeria with integrity and has never been convicted of any corrupt act. He is boldly contesting the false charges which the Yar’Adua government filed against him in court. It is strange that a Buhari who protests when unproven claims of N2.5 billion (about US $3billion in those days!) missing oil funds are levelled against him can gleefully elevate similar claims into facts when it concerns another. How would Buhari feel if the corruption allegations made against him by Group Captain Usman Jibrin, then a board member of PTF, are today reported as if they were proven facts? So much for “corrupt background” and “shoddy performance”.

Mallam El-Rufai wishes to remind General Buhari that he has remained perpetually unelectable because his record as military head of state, and afterwards, is a warning that many Nigerians have wisely heeded. His insensitivity to Nigeria’s diversity and his parochial focus are already well-known. In 1984, Buhari allowed 53 suitcases belonging to his ADC’s father to enter Nigeria unchecked at a time the country was exchanging old currency for new. Against all canons of legal decency, he used retroactive laws to execute three young men for drug-peddling after they were convicted by a military tribunal and not regular courts of law. Buhari was so high handed that he gave himself and his officials immunity even from truthful reporting. That obnoxious Decree 4, against which truth was no defence, was used to jail journalists and attempt to cow the media as a whole. That tyrannical legislation shows the essence of his intolerance. These are facts of recent history.

The story of counter-trade and import licensing, the cornerstone of Buhari’s stone-age economic strategy and those whose interests it served, is a tale for another day.

Mallam El-Rufai respects both Generals Buhari and Babangida as elder statesmen. He believes their age, experience and guidance may contribute to the success of any future government. El-Rufai however believes that it is time for a new generation of leaders with new thinking and wholesome democratic attitude to move our nation forward. The vicious response by the Buhari camp to a simple statement that their almost-70 principal should retire is proof enough that a Buhari, the new Democrat, tolerant of views different from his own, is yet to evolve. And that is sad, for his fledgling party and its leadership. Buhari and his cohorts may wish to reflect that it will take more than attacks on personalities to become electable. Having seen his version of discipline, Nigerians are not likely to cherish an encore. But they will welcome an engagement with the issues and problems of everyday life that have hobbled the peoples of this land.

Have Ɣ☺u seen the reason why Ɣ☺u are a capital ARIDIN?
Ode
Honestly t think you are the bigger arindin here.
All el-rufai said is typical and normal in a political environment where there are no permanent foe or friend but permanent interest.

El-rufai and buhari are now friends. what counts is what el-rufai says about buhari today.

Are you a learner of Nigerian politics?
PoliticsRe: The Foolish APC I Know by softwareman(m): 4:57pm On Aug 20, 2013
PrettyRita: In recent times, d media has been awash with reports accusing the PDP of stagnating d country, as no feasible projects have been allegedly achieved since they came to power. For instance, the common question on the social media is " what have u people achieved in the past 14yrs"? And then the person ends it with a statement like "wait and see, we will push PDP aside come 2015 and give Nigerians the desired change". While Nigerians remain desirous of more change, i believe it is wrong for opposition elements to finger the ruling party party as d bane behind Nigeria's purported stagnation, moreso that development requires the collaborative efforts of the leaders and followers. Let's drop this for another day.

The pertinent question that troubles my mind is, what moral justification does the APC have to accuse d PDP of stagnating d country? How much development has d party brought to states under its radar? When foolish people reveal their foolishness, identify it for them and allow them use their head.
1. The APC has continued to celebrate the presence of some Prominent PDP stakeholders in their midst. Now they are begging d likes of Amaechi, Babangida, kwankwaso, Lamido to join them.
2. The APC today has in its fold Audu Ogbeh who was the National Chairman of the PDP for several years and part of the years they are accusing the PDP of abusing
3. Tomi Ikimi, d man who made his mark during the PDP presidential primaries that brought back Obj ( Obasanjo, Obasanjo and Obasanjo) is now celebrated within the ranks of APC, yet they see nothing wrong in challenging d PDP.
4. These men they celebrate today as APC members were part of the party they are condemning today. If they are saintly, why didn't they effect the change when they were in government? Or is change possible only in APC?
Now they are begging Tambuwal to come and fly the presidential flag, another PDP card carrying member. Is the APC an appendage of the PDP? Do they have any moral ground to talk?
You first need to understand the concept and dynamics of how nigerian politics works.

Nigerian politics is not based on ideology perse even though there is a way certain inclinations have over time being associated with performance in governance.

Historically, political parties in nigeria generally represents a set of values and ideology that became very much distorted around 2003-2007, when the country essentially became a one party state.

As a result, most politicians essentially do not have much option if they would play national politics but join PDP.There was just no other alternative national platform to the PDP.

The important thing is not the politician that comes into a party but the dominant culture and value of the political party that matters.
i can be a member of a church where i am at liberty to wear trousers and use make up.It does stop me from later becoming a member of a church that does not permit this. The important thing is that for me to prosper in the new church i must conform to the dominant values and culture of the new church!

So like dbanj would say don't get it twisted, what you are seeing and what is probably confusing you, is the alignment and re-alignment of political forces.

At the end of the day what we now have before us is a clear choice:
a platform that have been tried for the last 14 years and that have failed woefully.
or
an alternative platform that can be given a chance to fail or succeed.

we are no longer stuck with only one thing, those who do not want the statuesque now have an alternative.

That is how democracy should work.

Goddex: Mbu, that some of you ignorant peeps rant your tongue about is a core professional. The IG knows this. Ameachi is sponsoring a propaganda for his sack because Mbu refused to do his bidding on the Rivers State PDP chairmanship issue which Mbu instead opted to implement a court order. Ameachi had directed Mbu not to implement a court ruling replacing the PDP chairman in the state which Mbu refused.
Administratively, the mere fact that the governor- the chief security officer of the state- and the police commisioner do not see eye for eye, can only mean one thing:either redeploy the governor! or redeploy the commissioner of police.

Their cannot be effective security management if the two critical components do not agree.

it is not even about who is right or wrong.

it is the elementary administrative step you take when their is a conflict between persons performing two critical inter related roles.

To me this goes to prove how very politically partisan this IG is. either that, or he is completely incompetent.

pro01: Abeg tell them o! I wonder how Ngige can be anyone's model of excellence in terms of good governance. It is just ridiculous. The little goodwill he garnered during his brief and illegal stay as governor was entirely due to his status as a 'persecuted' underdog. . .embroiled in a do-or-die battle of self-preservation and survival with his then godfather and fellow election rigger - Chris Uba. He needed to gain public affection and sympathy during those heady days, and he managed to do so by playing to the gallery, even as the main beneficiary of a stolen mandate. How does that make him a paragon of competence in governance? If anything, his competence is only evident as a receiver of stolen goods - who skillfully cheats both the thief and the original owner of the goods. In saner climes, the man would have been jailed for brazen electoral fraud and criminal misrepresentation.

I have noticed that his main supporters are Yoruba ACN zombies in the South West who have never visited Anambra and probably never will. It is therefore clear that they know nothing about Ngige's supposed "achievements" as (illegal) governor, let alone the objective merits of his candidacy. It is all about a jaundiced, hare-brained, busybody-ish desire to foist their ACN on Anambrarians. What a bunch of deluded bumpkins.
I have also noticed that most of soludo's supporters on this forum are mostly nothing but a bunch of emotional cry babies who have being thrashing around like rain beaten chickens since soludo's disqualification.

Excitable, hate filled individuals whose emotions have completely beclouded their thinking are running amok attacking everybody and shamelessly exposing their crass ignorance of elementary politics.

Could their be a greater set of deluded bumpkins than a confused and intellectually arrogant lot that would not see that APGA and obi would not hand over the governorship of their party to a new comer they do not trust and whose loyalty they cannot vouch for.

Now all they have is their hate, their ignorance, their political naivety, their insults, their vile propaganda against all perceived enemies, their inbred crudity and vulgarity.

When obi was inciting them with the tribal bait they relish, he was their friend and hero.

Now they have suddenly discovered how corrupt and bad he is and how he has being stealing them blind for the past eight years.

Cuche: Yes I could not agree more. For Peter Obi, being the Governor of Anambra for the past 7 years has been so rewarding especially for his pocket. Apart from being the smartest of the Governors he has also mastered the tricks of deception and sweet talking. He also knows that the easiest way to steal and not be followed by financial crime watchdogs is to befriend the presidency. Another smart move is to regularly decorate the accounts of Bishops and traditional rulers who ordinarily should ask questions on Why Anambra State has received over 900 billion from Federation account as revenue including Local Government funds. Grants from Foreign Donors and revenue generated from industrial areas of Onitsha, Nnewi, Awka, Obosi including his neck-breaking taxation and charges on Land C of O is a story for another day.
Now tell me of the projects he has embarked on that justifies the amount of money that he has at his disposal. Mind you he refused to pay minimum wage to workers, Anambra workers are the least paid in the federation. Medical doctors on internship in the State hospital gets roughly N99,000 monthly compared with N175,000 paid by poorer states which even employ more.
He has continued to claim there is no money whereas his private investment says otherwise. He now owns undisclosed stakes in certain Motor factory at Nnewi, a certain brewery at Onitsha and P/h, and more embarrassing a good stake at an oil facility somewhere in Anambra East/West.
For Mr Peter Obi Okwute Ndi Igbo, any of Ngige, Andy Uba, Soludo, and a few others is not qualified to lead the state simply because these have the will and expertise to hurriedly transform Anambra. He fears that any of these men will definitely expose his failure to bring transformation that is commensurate with the revenue received during his no "money " uneventful tenure.
His no money stance was recently brought to fore as he failed to rehabilitate his people who were "deported" from Lagos State. Other states quietly welcomed and rehabilitated their people but he chose to fan embers of rancor.
He now decides to impose himself further in all local government areas through a belated local government election.
Soon an era of DECEIT and Monumental RAPE of Anambra comes to an end. And Goodbye from Anambra as the saying goes may as well be goodbye from 8 years of deceit and devil- inspired smartness.
it is interesting how you guys suddenly discover how corrupt and bad peter obi is only after APGA disqualifies soludo!

http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/anambra-2014-soludo-vows-not-to-dump-apga/156411/
The former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and one of the aspirants of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the Anambra State governorship election, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, yesterday ruled out the possibility of him leaving the party, even if he is not nominated as the candidate of the party for the November 16 election.
Speaking shortly after appearing before the screening panel of the party, Soludo said he did not join the party solely for the reason of flying the ticket of the party, but to help re build APGA.

He said APGA was the only political party in Nigeria which talked about true federalism.

I am saying my priority in joining APGA is to help build the party as a formidable political party. Running for governor is not why I joined APGA. I have joined APGA primarily to join forces with other compatriots, other Nigerians to build the party as a formidable political party,”he said.

Soludo is among the 16 aspirants who picked APGA’s Expression of Interest (EoI) form and nomination form. The party’s screening, which started yesterday would end today.

While outlining his programmes if elected governor, the former CBN governor promised to create 100,000 private sector jobs few months after assuming office.

He said agriculture would be given a priority by his government, handing that he is in the race because of his resolve to use his intellect and contacts to better the state.

He said:“All I want to do is to show what service is all about. I want to put the state on the world map.”

On whether there is a move by the 13 aspirants to produce a consensus candidate, he said:“I think the discussion is ongoing. People are talking. And you know, in politics you do nothing but talk. And I believe and I have confidence APGA will conduct a free, fair and transparent primaries to select its candidate.”

The former governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during the last governorship election in the state, insisted he would remain in APGA if he failed to pick the party’s ticket.

“I am APGA in the morning in the afternoon and in the night. I am in APGA today, I will be in APGA tomorrow, I will be in APGA next year, I will be in APGA for the next seven years to come,”he said.

Soludo came to APGA for the governorship ticket!

If he truly believes in APGA,why did it take him a few weeks to the primaries before joining?

Was APGA formed three months ago?

Once a political prostitute, always a political prostitute.

he will change to three political parties within three months!

Kairoseki77: Mods....I am suspecting that some users are artificially inflating their 'likes' on this website. It is possible that they are using multiple accounts.

Check this comment from IGBO-SON.

https://www.nairaland.com/1401207/ethiopian-airline-starts-operation-enugu

That page only has 1000 views, and yet the comment INSTANTLY received 20 likes. The 'viewing this topic' section is not at all impressive.

I was looking at the page when it had about 800 views and no comment had that many likes, and the next minute this one comment had 20 likes. This is just a heads up on something worth investigating. Considering the amount of people who have multiple accounts on Nairaland, it would not be surprising if some of them are using those multiple accounts to artificially inflate the likes on certain comments.

Does it violate any of the present rules? No.
Is it in the spirit of the website? That's up to the mods, supermods, and the administrator.
technically speaking, it is as simple as ABC to track the IDs that clicked the like link for a particular post on a specific thread.

i am sure Nairaland already does this( i will be shocked if they are not already ).

what they can do about the issue of a user posting the 'like' buttons with different IDs, to me, is not very difficult.
associate a suspected ID / moniker with a specific user by creating a parent table to the ones you currently store users/ IDs(Just like a bank associating a specific customer with many account numbers) and use this table to relate a single moniker to his or hers suspected IDs.

The 'like' counter can then be designed to associate several clicks by all the associated IDs as one like.

The problem with this suggestion is that Mods will be the ones to identify and associate IDs with a particular moniker.
This requires mods who are not partial and who have a sense of fair play.
The above suggestion is not perfect, but at least it provides a good starting point.

first , resuscitation of the railway did not start under Jonathan, it started as far back as the year 2000 and billions upon upon billions has been expended. when you look at the time , the amount of money spent and the number of track miles in use today, you can only conclude that this is a shameless government that celebrates mediocrity.

it's like a child taking jamb for the 14th time and shouting that he finally scored 30 from a total score of 400.

electricity generation
in the year 2002, president obasanjo gave a target electricity generation of 4000 watts to the then minister of power, lynel imoke. after spending billions of NAIRA, they had a reception in the state house celebrating the attainment of this goal. eleven years later, billions of dollars later, a shameless presidential spokesman is still lieing about doubling 2000 watts when actually at a point this year it actually hovers around 1500 watts.

where has all the money gone? what happens to the promised targets of 2007, 2009, 2011 and by the end of 2012?

this is nothing but a shameless govt controlled by a big for nothing party with a clueless and incompetent president.

touch4mony: apart from lagos which of the 12 states controled by the opposition is better off than d pdp states
the best comparison is to take states PDP and APC has ruled before and do a comparison of the progress under each partty's rule.
if you do this for states such as OGUN, OYO, OSUN, EDO, EKITI.
if you do a proper analysis, we will see there is no basis for comparison. the diffrence is like comparing darkness with light.

FreeGlobe: That may be because Tinubu singularly shares the money of APC
and this is your own contribution, how you just felt like posting something even if it complete nonsense.
at least TINUBU is not master minding the theft of Nigerian oil to buy weapons for militants in case he loses the 2015 election.

Nigerians are fed up with the poverty development party that has failed to deliver this past 14 years. the diffrence between APC and PDP can be seen in the south west where their misrule of eight years has been wiped out with 2/3 years of real progress under APC.

Kairoseki77: How many email addresses do you have?

Also @ mods - Can't you ban his IP address?
I remember a thread where someone told the mods that their banning policy, especially trying to ban people for long periods of time is unworkable because it will not serve any useful purpose of keeping anyone away permanently especially if that person does not want to stay out.The reason is because the reason is because what it takes to get back in is as easy as abc
I can also remember the ridiculous response of the mod:It is also very easy to ban as well.
Now, the chicken is coming home to roost.
A mods responsibility goes beyond banning.
a moderator has( or at least should have) better things to do with his time online.
when a mod starts to spend most of his time on line banning and playing hide and seek with posters what is says is that something is not working.
The guy who pointed this out to them, katsmato or so , i cannot now fully remember his name properly, will be having a laugh when he sees this.
@IP ban
most IP addresses are dynamic. it is almost impracticable to enforce it.
