I anticipated this. I used to live in one right in the middle of abk. 3 spacious bedroom flat compared to the nonsense holes common in lagos. The sitting room alone enough will attract 450k per year as a studio room if it was lagos. You sound like someone who doesn't really interact below or above your immediate sphere of knowledge.
Talk is cheap, you used to does not mean you live there,a friend of mine who lives in the same Abeokuta Quarry road is paying ₦400k for 3 bedroom long before i started paying ₦400k for the same 3bed in Lagos.

Response like this always make me feel some of you don't pay rent, you live in a free or subsidized accomodations.

Prices of Housing skyrocketed during the lockdown,as those who changed accomodations then they will tell you

for selfcon... Moniya, ologuneru, ojo, Agbowo, sango. For ogun, Akute, agbado, alagbole, Giwa crossing
May be in ologuneru and ojo.
But not in Agbowo sango that are student areas and city center.
i was born and brought up in ìbàdàn,i live substantial part of my life in Bashorun.
Don't give wrong info here.
How sensible is it for you to be living in Àgbàdo crossing, Giwa and be working on the island? it is not practicable.
May be Akute and Alagbole, those places are even berger extension,no one will give you a self con for ₦90-₦120k. except you dey go live inside bush

Depends on how good you know those areas. He's saying the truth. I'm sure even your estate valuer friend has a specific class of property he deals with. Doesn't mean rent below that doesn't exist.
Please state those areas ooo.

not necessarily true. There are self cons in Ogun, Osun and ibadan for those prices. The problem is Lagos!!!
May be Osun, not in ìbàdàn,a friend who is an estate valuer in ìbàdàn post letting advert on his Whatsapp update daily and i did not even see ₦200k house's,most house's competes with Lagos pricing.
₦600k for a 3 bedroom in Akobo.
Even the ogun state you mentioned are not within Abeokuta,Ojodu/opic or Agbára.

Suicide mission. Even pple earning 300k on 350k rent struggle to pay up
Is because the can't set the priorities right,if you earn ₦300k a month nothing stops you from being a landlord.
Look for an old flat to buy in an estate and renovate.
Na mortage e go cost you

You can,the rule is if your Annual rent is more than your 3months salary you might struggle to pay.
But in this case it is,so why worry? job security is what should worry you.
You are good to go bro/sis

Can you save 250/12 of your salary monthly for rent?..are you living far from the work place which results in high cost of transport? Lunch at work? Assuming you eat 010...... Do your maths well ...

My advise go for a cheapest accommodation for now or get a flatmate
You obviously don't live.in Lagos, cheapest accomodations less than ₦250k means he will end up living in a room and parlor face me i face you or one dejected building in one lungu
FamilyRe: My Marriage Has Finally Crashed! by Solatium(m): 9:06am On Jul 29, 2021
Pecoleee345:
Previous thread https://www.nairaland.com/6653469/another-marriage-crash

So over last weekend.... I called family meeting my mum, elder brother and I went to my wife parents house... her family members were present.

They wanted to resolve things between us but no one gave a Bleep about me....they asked her to speak and she said alot of things both truth and lies.

I was lambasted from both sides and I let them finished properly before dropping the bomb......I looked into her eyes straight up and told her am divorcing you.

They were all stunned.... they were now interested in my side of the story.

I decided not to say anything.....am not the type that bad mouth people to score points or look good (my ex-wife is very good at that)....I just told her family to demand the truth from her.

My advice to young men.

1. Make sure u know the background of the lady u wanna get involved with....the way of life etc.

The mistake I made was not evaluating her background...... We came from completely different backgrounds....eg where she comes from people talking crazy and shouting at one another isn't a big deal but me it was a Taboo infact in my parents' house u can't talk with high tones for normal discussions.

2. See forget love and looks...... Make sure you know the main reason she wants to marry you.

I know she loves me but she had another motive which is am meant to give her everything she wants in Life.... She had that mind set of her responsibilities is totally dependent on me.

She told me she can only spare or borrow me money towards doing anything in the house but it is my duty to provide anything she wants even the riddicules ones.

3. For your peace of mind stay away from most ladies raised by single mothers because most her poison to hate men right from teens by their mother.

They are mostly insecure....they believe all men cheat and can never trust.
Comes with mad jealousy

They mostly have anger issue.... they will tell you I don't take shit... trying to show they are strong and can't take what their mother took despite you not doing any shit.....they want to have say in everything just to show you are equal.

They are always quick to be on the defensive
Just to mention a few

I once told my wife am not like your father when I couldn't take the policing, sneaking and threat anymore.

See as a man no one gives a shit about you..... people are sympathetic towards the female and expect you to take whatever she throws at you but you need your peace of mind.
The society has made it possible for women to get away with lot of things.

If you found a woman you want to marry please put love aside and get to really know her background well......cohabit with her for 6month......lastly even if you don't have money, please borrow and go for comprehensive medical check up with her.... (check your sperm count and the state of her womb) please.
I admire your courage to end it at that point, you are A strong will person,it takes a whole of courage to take such decision.

Yes that background check is highly important but no matter how hard you try you can never get all the required info until when you both fully involved but one thing can always save the day for everyman.
ability to read the game ahead of time will give you the needed time And space to prepare your response/reaction/coping mechanism.
once again i salute your courage bro and i wish you well

Nigerian economy isn’t getting any better , last week , a friend of mine was at Sabo to exchange some dollars and he successfully was able to exchange $100 for #49,000 . .
I see many people making enquires one what type of business to do , my advice is , don’t even think of a business you would earn in Naira because the economy keeps getting worse and you would directly or Indirectly still purchase your needs at dollar rate .
If you are looking for an amazing business to start , then I will advise you to go into any of blogging , E-commerce , directory or any online business that pays in dollars .

Don't mind those never do well who said ₦300k is too little, most of them don't even have ₦30k both home and abroad.
Bulk of Those who run POS business don't even have ₦100k Capital they started with small amount usually ₦50k.
Press on with your dream of doing something, just start somewhere and as time goes on so you will get it right

300k can not do so much in Nigeria currently but what i can suggest is investment, you can invest 300k into another person business and collect your interest, the company i work for Realty Point Limited has an investment for just 250k and you can receive up to 18.5% ANNUALLY. we still have other investment with as low as 25k you can begin to call yourself a landlord, ,y company is over 25years in business so be less worried about issue.
₦300k can not do much, yet you want the guy to come and invest abi?

Was thinking about this.. but getting the machine is hard. You can hardly get it even in two months. And I don't want to keep long before presenting the man with the business idea so he doesn't change his mind or use the money
You don't have to wait for that long, Download opay app fill in all the necessary details,go to settings and upgrade your level to that of an opay agent you can continue the business with your smart phone, they will reach out to you and present you with a POS terminal in little time if your performance is impressive.
i wish you well

One stayed behind to make sure Kanu's trial goes unhindered.
The level of nepotism in Nigeria under Buhari is tempting to Nigeria's unity. I think he should grant amnesty to Kanu, El Zakzaky and Sunday Igboho like he did for his Boko boys and GEJ did for his militant boys too.
Would you have preferred that he be locked up till the judges resume in 2 or 3 months time?
Jobs/VacanciesRe: With 13 Years Experience, Will You Accept An N85,000 Job Offer? by Solatium(m): 3:38pm On Jul 25, 2021
Belafonte:
If after 13 years, you have not been able to increase your skill level to a point where employers would be scared of offering you 85k, then that's what you deserve.

Everyday you go to work, you must actively develop yourself to be worth what you want to earn from life.

Nobody pays you for time, they pay for your value. If you are worth 850k to them they'll pay you 850k. That is the reality. If you believe you are undervalued where you are, then prove it by offering your service and skills to other employers and see if they jump at your offer or not.

You don't determine your value, the market does.
The only sensible comment so far

Can a graduate with over 13 years working experience accept job offer of N85,000 monthly salary simply because the person's company had challenges and is out of job.

The daily transport to and fro to work is atleast N1,500 and such a person will still have to buy and eat morning and afternoon food, dress well and has a family. Above all, because of traffic and distance to workplace, such a person will be leaving house atleast by 5am and coming home can reach 10pm.

Is it worth it?,Kindly advise
Na hunger go fast track your decision, unfortunately by the time your mind is made up the offer may have lapsed.

BusinessRe: She Absconded After I Helped Her Get A Loan by Solatium(m): 9:28pm On Jul 24, 2021
kingvicking:
Hello Nairalanders,

I have an issue at hand which I need advice of the best line of action to take.

I use to work in a bank here in Abuja, until I resigned in May 2020 and now work in a finance house (a loan firm, also here in Abuja),

January this year (Jan 2021), one of my former colleagues at the bank called to beg me to help her process a loan with my current firm, as she has an urgent need for money & will pay back in 2 months.

Well, I ignored at first, but after series of begging & pestering me, I considered the risk involved,

She wanted #150,000
Her take home was a little over #100k (after tax & pension).

So I agreed & help her facilitate the loan, she got disbursement & details of interest and maturity date.
2 months down the line, I called to notify her of her repayment, to which the said she will may payment in two days time (the loan due date was 31/03/2021)
But instead of making payments she disappeared,

So first week of April, I went to the bank to check on her & was told she resigned from the bank some weeks ago, ever since then she has been giving me one excuse or the other,

Now, I have been held liable of making the repayment at work, since I was the one who approved the loan and the applicant (the customer has absconded).

Secondly, the particular lady no longer pick my calls, she also moved from her old apartment.

I have all relevant paperwork with me,
Please, your candid advice on the best action to take is really appreciated,
No be Bank you worked before?
Get hold of her BVN and ask some of your colleagues at your former work place to check how many accounts she has with the name of banks, once you are certain of those banks, write a formal letter attaching those loan documents, her account might be place on lien or at worse she will be enlisted on the credit bureau as a loan defaulter, meaning she will end up with back credit rating
