You have been on many threads ranting! I must say you talk too much for a MAN. Telling people what to do… Honestly you really need to rest uncle. Same way you created a thread 2021 Jan telling people that they are wasting fortunes. People would rather take their chances in a sane society. Keep your energy for something else and allow us breath. You are not in any position to tell people what to do. From your conversation you feel you know what’s the best for another person and it’s really disgusting. If it’s your decision not to travel then it’s fine but coercing others into taking same decision is really annoying and yet people keep correcting you but you are still not getting the point. Rest in Jesus name and get something else to do with your time
Please my people if you wish or have the chance to leave the country and you have resources please do.

Could it be that you switched Moniker or another aproko Aunty that want to defend his brother?
You were blind to his jive when he made that unnecessary comment, only for you to now come out smoking when I refferd him to how dumb he was in the past.
You see one beautiful thing about Nairaland is that it leaves tracks of what you have done and your compendium of stupidity will keep steering at you,if you don't want to be hit don't throw the first punch grin

First class is not even a measure of smartness,na read people dey read collect grade.
A brilliant student might not necessarily be an intelligent person.
Logic and critical thinking is a skill set that will stand you out,did you show me your certificate before I figure you are below average? at least going by your quality of argument

Some of you will still not come out with good grades if you school abroad, you don't even know what drives you,you expect me to come here and tell you what motivates you to move?
You mentioned Quality education,is our education not qualitative? i know you will say Yes,but before you go with that irrelevant thought that has been ingrained in your brain.
Remember so many Nigerian doctor's on NHS payroll who all studied back at home.
Remember several professionals in UK whose educations were all acquired in Nigeria, they only seat a Professional course of around 6 months.
if their education are all washed up will they be able to pass and perform excellently well?

Small piking still dey worry you.
You need to embrace logical thinking.
You are not sound for the kind of argument you want to engage in.
No apology

Ok good, now talk about the positive side of the japa movement to the UK. Is everything negative as some of you have been portraying. If everything is negative why are we not seeing crowds of Nigerians and other nationals running back home but the movement is still ongoing. shocked
So positive side...we are waiting.

The positive side is what motivates you and don't let what motivates blinds you to the fact that there are limitations which people like us keep reminding you guys.
I know comprehension is the problem here,a lot of you felt caution note means you shouldn't Japa.

Lol. Another thing many of these guys don't know is tax. Once you earn above 50000 pounds, your tax rate will be 40% of your revenue.

So no matter how much you work, the government still benefits. This also includes self-employment.

Most of these people thought this is Nigeria where they do not pay any tax. They also dont know that the average salary in the UK in 2022 is
£29,600 per year. After tax and national insurance you will be left with £23,768. This means that after tax you will take home £1,981 every month.

I am happy more people are speaking up about this,we need to sound this to our people
so they don't become disappointed at the long run, careful planning around finances is key here ,a lot have become stranded as we speak due to high expectations.
There is reality and there is perception.

Working unending extra hours and night shifts is NO WAY to earn. It means you sacrifice your personal time and quality of life to make ends meet. So those who do "locum" and earn in "millions" please....

The moment you work and earn more, you cross your tax threshold and lo and behold 40 percent contribution PLUS National insurance. So your take home salary rises by peanuts.
And the amount you give away to the tax system is painful.
Stop speaking from outside and throwing away the baby with the bath water.
How things have detoriated and inflation has gone up in recent years is pretty insane. Look up any news outlet.

If you ask the average worker… when was the last time you came home on time or left work and did not feel knackered? they can’t say.
I'm yet to meet a person in my field who is sincerely sincerrrrrrely "happy" in the pure terms of it with their decision to move to the UK.
And those who convert money and say its worse back home, well then also convert the cost of petrol, bread, bills and the amount you pay for everything.

Just do not be highly expectant is all the fellow I believe was trying to say… he was triggered by someone giving away 26 million Naira to migrate with his family to what he feels is ‘unchartered waters’
Is he right? I do not know.
Guess what, there are lots of people who left a year ago on your Tier 4 and made these same shouts on this forum, where are they today?

They have perhaps learnt by experience and are no longer chanting same songs. Truth is, it is not as meets the eye but please by all means everyone is welcome to come to UK. It is a lovely place definitely.
May the land favour everyone.
My opinion. Thanks for reading.

May God bless the womb that conceive you.
This the summation of what life is all about in UK.
i hope they will see the wisdom in this and lower their expectations.
Once again God bless

One with multiple streams of income won’t even feel it. I have an acquaintance in Manchester charging £1k daily as a business analyst.

All these you wrote won’t matter if you strategize well before leaving naija.

Before embarking on this japa process, I had enquire about cost of living and job opportunities, these pays a high role in considering planning of expenses, before choosing schools in these regions, it not just all about applying to any school, but being strategic about it.

Bottom line is, IF you are an IT professional, that’s serious with his career and has a goal, you will never suffer or regret your movement to UK.

I have one sad story that might justifiy some of your stories

My nephew got killed last year.
He was stabbed 9 times but u know why ...he was involved with the gang.

But the thing is this..I have other cousin who are doing well..

He was brough to Nigeria so he could change but that's his own story. May his soul rest in peace.

When d uk government tells u that one parent must be at home with the kids..they know what the are saying..

When they say students can't work more than 20hrs..they still know what they are saying...
Bring your partner when u are coming..
They are thoughtful u would would need support.

So what ever this man is saying..
Don't shove it under the carpet

Prepare for the unexpected.

Today 4 People were stabbed to death while sleeping in their home in South London, did you find any negative comment from the citizens they way we do here?
Was it over blown in the press the way they do here?
No be one lunatic went to shoot people at New York subway past week?
My point is it rains everywhere, Crime and Terrorism has no boundaries, every society has its own share, don't run down your home because you have little privilege of venturing out thinking you can sink the ship.

Young man be civil with your response, and learn how to pass your message across without insulting anyone.
The best comment you should have made is just to advice people not to have too much expectation, as it's not always greener on the other side, depending on the life you're living here already and not you trying to discourage people.
Stop discouraging people, i came across a thread on Nairaland here in dated far back 2008, a man was telling people not to leave, that the country will get better soon, so you tell me since 2008 as the country progress or retrogress?? If you don't want to leave for reasons best known to you, then don't discourage others and please stop derailing the thread

You refferd to me as a young man as if i am your little brother, the same you expecting a "civil reply" ? isn't that disrespectful on its own?
Some of you are so full of yourself, the fact Nairaland is a faceless forum does not mean you look down anyone.
Away from that,so if did not refer you to the preceding comment your sense that went overdrive without control won't be normal?
If someone said Nigeria will get better since 2008 and it refuses to be better on your side, does it mean Nigeria does not favor some?
If you life no better no mean say other life no better now.
like i said,go to wherever you want but don't come here to paint a picture of eldorado

Well it depends on your career and your goal in life.

An average IT support earns 150k - 250k per month here which practically finishes without savings at the end of the month BUT same IT support can earn as low as £3k - £4 k per month.

Let us assume 50% goes with all expenses including tax, £1,500 - £2,000 balance remaining will make you know this process is worth it when you convert it to Naira @ N780/£ and duly enjoy basic amenities you are been taxed for.

grin grin

Make una dey deceive una sef.
if you earn £4k and your tax code is around 22-25% how much is your take home?

From the remaining £3120 or so
You pay your mortgage or rent of say around £800, Council tax nkọ? Car insurance,Gas and electricity,Road tax,Phone and internet, Feeding, insurance on your home, Clothings and remittance to family and friends, how much are you left with? i dey talk am

Which best is in Nigeria biko? Do you knw how many doctors and nurses who have left Nigeria within the past 12 months? All public universities have been on strike for sometime now. Most professor are even leaving.

I strongly disagree with you on your statement "na poverty dey drive everyone".
Presently, my boss with all his money and wealth has been in the UK with his wife for 4 months now in pursuit of PR. Him too dey poor abi?
My former emplyer's children all schooled in the UK. Still poverty abi?

This over N30m wey pesin like me wan use japa (family of 4), would you also say na poverty?

My dear, I still maintain that if you have kids, the best thing you can do for them is to give them foreign citizenship (like Uk). Nothing is guaranteed but take the first step fess

I repeat na poverty dey drive people, take it or leave it, being a nurse or Dr does not immune you against poverty,a university professor is not a ticket to huge wealth,if you think i am lying check the salaries of university professor in uk,most of them are around £32,000 -£45,000.
When I say poverty,it is not the absence of money alone, poverty of the mind is the worse which is more rampant these days, it has to do with what has been ingrained into our brains, your "Rich Boss" who abandoned his business to seek PR is only rich in currency but not in business or managerial acumen,he must have been those who suddenly found themselves on top.
Lastly, you see those who are leaving because you are hell bent on leaving, because that is the only thing that make sense to you,no qualms, but i see so many who are back from the same journey.
Those business ideas and innovations you see around are the handiwork of returnees, some of the best specialist Hospitals you see around today are own by them, the finance house's,the Fintechs, the IT Servicing companies, the oil servicing companies, the independent Media and what have you.
I am not against any going anywhere, but i can assure you that in 10yrs time you will be back to same Nigeria to come and make money/impact.
Just go and add value to yourself but no too put mind

Religion / Re: Wet Dreams: A Thorn In My Flesh Going To Two Decades by Solatium(m): 12:57pm On Apr 24, 2022
Pray4meJC:
For privacy reasons, I'm an old nairaland member.

About 22 / 23 years ago, a classmate in secondary school lured us into the act of masturbation. Few days later, I started practicing the act and eventually ejaculated after tough stimulation lasting almost two hours. It got to a point I was almost getting addicted doing the unclean act.

Thereafter I graduated to pornography when internet was just starting in Nigeria.
I went further to committing adultery and fornication in the heart rather than with the body by peeping on girls and women having their bathe all to fulfill my lustful eyes. I even watched couple have sex by peeping.

Even though I have stopped and repented from these like 12 years back, I still find myself struggling with other bigger problems called wet dreams, unusual erections and wormlike vibrations in my body and sometimes body freezing at night for 30 seconds to 1 minute.

These wet dreams occurred 2 - 3 times in a week and repeat same in like manner every week compulsorily throughout the year and go on and on the following year. I have gone for several dry fasting and prayer deliverance to no avail.

I don't see myself having sex in the dream when these wet dreams occurred. Sometimes, when the wet dream is about happening I'm conscious and try screaming the name or blood of Jesus but it seems am just very powerless and before I know it, semen has spilled out and I will remain like that. Sleep is distorted and all efforts to sleep is impossible.

Sometimes, when I go to bed early by 8PM and I get caught up by wet dreams by 9:30PM, it means sleep for that night is gone completely. I sleep maximum 2 hours daily because this stuff has messed my mind and life up.

Whenever I lie down to sleep, different uninvited thoughts start forcing themselves on my brain both those that happened today and the ones of years ago. I always try deflecting them by replacing them with bible quote or singing praise to God in my head.

I woke up since 2:30 am today with a wet burser soaked in semen and started typing this because I couldn't no longer sleep. Afternoon sleep is very impossible for me as it has never worked for even 1 minute

I'm greatly troubled and worried because I read my bible and pray before going to bed. I dream about my former schools etc.

As I speak, this stuff has rendered me financially devastated with millions in debt. Could not obtain university admission 19 years ago, brain can't simulate, not married, no kids. Very recently this year my health (details withheld due to family members who might find this posts) is suffering as I can't do anything to earn a living as I easily sored tired in the heart.

PS: At night, every day for all these years, uncontrollable strong erections will suddenly start building up whether I put up underwear or not and I think this is more than the 'morning erections ' science talks about. This is pure spiritual manipulation for me. Same thing happens when I get close to some females whether matured or underage, stupid uncontrollable strong erections suddenly pop up without any sexual thoughts whatsoever to these innocent females. Unfortunately, these arousal is also a problem because it inhibits low self esteem, shame and quick withdrawal from whatever discuss I'm having to avoid the bulge being noticed.

Lastly, a year before I got myself ensnared in all these evil activities, I was already developing memory loss and a single headache that almost took my life prior to all these. The headache can be best described as "sawchain and hammer " tearing the skull to pieces and lasted for hours and resistance to drugs. That was the first and last time I experienced such and any other for that matter.

Where do I go from here? Depression is real when solutions are being defiled.

Ọga go and GET MARRIED or Get a girlfriend that will give you regular sex, come back after 3months and tell us about this bullshit.
The Truth is at a point in life your biological make up will demand for it's purpose, trying to suppress it with religion won't work.

How true is this? I saw on NIS website that passport renewal is of two categories: expired and unexpired validity. For unexpired validity (passport with more than six months validity), you just need to state your reason for renewal.
Mine hasn't expired yet till January 9, 23 but I need to renew it to process study visa permit.

If that is what you saw on their website it means the rules has evolved.
