In the said scene, Lara ( Seyi shay) was in desperate need of money and decided to ask her friend for a sum of #100k. Her friend realized she most likely wouldn't be able to pay back and decided to make herself a sweet deal. She offered Lara #500k in return for a designer bag worth $15k Lara brought with her (For context, Lara was a spoilt rich kid whose family had recently gone bankrupt). Lara raised her demand to #1M. Her friend agreed to lend her the money in return for the designer bag and the sunglasses Lara had on. In her words, "you'll get your bag back when you pay back the loan. If you don't, well, it's a nice bag....." . As desperate times call for desperate measures, Lara had no choice but to agree.

When people ask you to loan them money or other valuables, make a deal. Ask for a valuable possession of theirs in return( in the interim till the debt is paid), preferably something more valuable than what he/she asked you to lend them. If the person pays back, you return it and if not, you get to keep it. That way, you have nothing to lose. Involving a third party( of your own choice, do not allow the debtor to choose) in the process might also be a good idea. The debtor should be the one to explain the terms. That would make it more effective.

Note- 1) It is much better not to lend anyone anything at all.
