ba7man: Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaketh.

With what comes out of G.E.J's mouth.............I'll leave you to complete that.

Our past leaders have all been crap but that's no reason to let our standards fall.
Letting your standards fall?
Really?
When compared to OBJ,YAR'ADUA and even buhari,GEJ is far better in presentation and sophistication.
How then are you "letting your standards fall"?
PoliticsRe: Is President Jonathan Being Laughed At During His UN Address. by solomon111(m): 9:34pm On Sep 25, 2013
dridowu: I respect the office of d president so no comment for now but for the presi saying that Nigeria deserve to be in security council then that must be the joke of the year
The only seat available to any African nation is a non-permanent seat, and Nigeria has just been nominated to represent Africa in a non-permanent role twice in 3 years under GEJ's administration.
It means that when/if a permanent seat opens for Africa, Nigeria would be one of the favourites for that position.
The joke is on you,bro.

Effwazobia: Sir, do you remember the following phrases. " I dey Kampe", God punish your papa, na your papa be jagajaga", "na your toro be that". The list can go on an on. Mind you, he always wore his traditional Yoruba outfits on diplomatic trips (never saw him in suit. the same goes for Buhari who is even a worse speaker than both GEJ and OBJ). I brought OBJ into the convo because he was a president, that did two terms, visited the US, and also not your most articulate speaker, and yet yall did not go hoarse online criticizing him. Nobody complained about the traditional Hausa and Yoruba outfits that our past leaders always wore to diplomatic trips, but here we are talking nasty about GEJ South South outfit. There is just a whole lot of double standards which feeds the notion that there is something else causing the hatred of GEJ

Oga yall need to search your souls well for the real reasons why yall don't like this man. In my humble opinion, it ain't because of his bad diction, speech, outfit or his personality. But rather because he is from the South South and ended up in the presidency.

My advice is that yall need to get use to the man, because you will be seeing a whole lot of him. 5 years of seeing somebody that you can't stand will be a nightmare. So it is about time we start getting use to him.

I am not from the South South, I am Igbo by the way, so I am being objective here
Thank you.
It's only someone who is naieve that will not know that GEJ's critics on NL are tribalists.
How low can you get when you insult the president for his accent and cultural dress-sense.
And the irony of it all is that, GEJ is the better speaker when compared to OBJ and buhari.

hillsate: Guys, even if they were not laughing at Mr president, Do you think they'd be laughing and sharing a joke if it were President Obama talking?
From the picture, they had more important things to discuss than whatever the president was saying.
They would have been rapt with attention even if it were Obasanjo talking.
What happened to us?

This is absolute nonsense and you know it.
You and your thread are jokes.
Pally, you should mind your language. My decision to hit or not to hit a woman should not determine how you address me. If I see you hit a woman, it's not enough to call you names...it's just what you've chosen to do. I repeat: I will never hit a woman unless my life it threatened. Gaskiya!
Go and check your earlier post and see what you wrote.
You said you would rather disarm the woman or hide for cover instead of hitting her, which i think is very morønic.
Why are you now changing your statement?

shymexx: Definitely not worth celebrating without a good structure. The huge population is the biggest factor here, however, what's the point of having the biggest economy with no infrastructures; poor banking structure; no middle-class and huge gap between rich and poor; no security etc.?

In other news: my shabby house with poor architecture and no plastering that's rodents ridden is also about to become the biggest house on my street. I need to celebrate!! undecided
If i say you don't know Nigeria, you will start crying.
Nigeria has the largest middle-class in Africa and our banking structure is not poor.
Probably one of the best in Africa, after southafrica.

Ayekotoo: maybe I didn't put it well. FG is reducing the allocations when she supposed to be increasing it. period
Let the states look for ways to increase their IGR and stop this overdependence on the FG.
Afterall, many of the states are powerful enough to threaten and blackmail the FG.
PoliticsRe: South Africa IN PANIC Over Nigerian Economic Surge - New Report. by solomon111(m): 6:42pm On Sep 24, 2013
Ayekotoo: this is where you all are getting it wrong. south Africans know better that's why they are buying and having stake in major Nigerian companies and also penetrating into our market whereas same can't be said of Nigeria. Nigeria can only replicate this with other small countries in Africa.
I don't think it really matters.
China became an economic giant because there were a receipent of huge investments from countries like japan.
Infact many manufacturing companies in china are owned by foreigners.
And it makes sense to explore smaller african countries given the fact that the south-african population has being significantly explored by western companies.

You are a morøn.
Check out the capitalization base of banks like GTB ,ZENITH,FIRST BANK and compare it with their south-african counterparts, you will find out that they are not doing badly at all.
Don't bring morønic statements here and use them as argument.
Btw,intercontinental bank was a very strong bank, crippled by corruption and sharp practices of its owners.

Toktee: Why are you been economical with the truth,a country with almost two hundred millions and u managed to mention only three but private companies,i was hoping to hear something like arewa textile kaduna, badegi rice processing company, benue cement company, ajaokuta steel company, abodone core mine in enugu etc.
And i was thinking that u will be honest enough to tell me nd anybdy that may be interested to know the level of poverty and unemployment in nigeria.
you don't expect me to start listing all the multi-national Nigerian owned companies that are doing very well.
Even the moribund textile companies are being rescusitated.
Yes,there is poverty and unemployment in Nigeria as well as in Africa and other parts of the world, but then there is also a significant growth and improvement in living standards.
For a country of our size,we need a growth of atleast 11% annually for the next 10 years to drastically reduce poverty and create enough jobs.
PoliticsRe: South Africa IN PANIC Over Nigerian Economic Surge - New Report. by solomon111(m): 5:58pm On Sep 24, 2013
FreeGlobe: What a fool. You think its by being a local champion. Why not place these banks and companies side by side with their south african counterparts lets see how well they measure up. I'm tired of engaging illiterates on nairaland. These kind of articles has been flying around for ages now and still nothing on ground.
you are a morøn.
GTB won the best bank in Africa twice in a row with one of the biggest capitalization base of an African owned bank.
Globacom is expanding on the continent rapidly, though not yet as big as the relatively more experienced MTN,but it is growing and breaking new frontiers and they are also the first telecommunication company in africa to adopt submarine technology.
Dangote cement is the biggest cement industry in Africa.
Nigerian brewries is probably Africa's biggest brewery company and there are many more examples of Nigerian companies competitiveness in Africa.
Go and get a proper education before engaging me in a debate.

FreeGlobe: if this beer parlor gist is what you call macro economic research then your a bigger fool than I thought. How many homegrown multinational companies has Nigeria raised to caused the above? Not when South African companies keep expanding and gaining base in Nigeria. You will keep peddling this gist while the status quo remain the same for a long time.
How many home-grown companies Nigeria has?
You've not heard of GLO,DANGOTE Group, GTB,ZENITH, FIRST BANK NEST OIL,CONOIL,e.t.c. and their expansion on the continent.?
Rossikke is correct.
You're arrogantly ignorant.
PoliticsRe: South Africa IN PANIC Over Nigerian Economic Surge - New Report. by solomon111(m): 4:45pm On Sep 24, 2013
Ayekotoo: South Africans are buying up major investments in the country to support and move their economy higher to where Nigeria can never attain. These falseful patriots are cooking up propaganda all over the media.
Nigerian companies are also buying up businesses in west and central africa and just recently east africa.
My only worry is that this may create a "cold war" between Nigeria and south-africa for the control of Africa's economy.

If she and her husband are happy the way they are and are not hurting anybody, why Insult them? Why not concentrate on the good she is doing all over the world, the lives her message are touching instead of Insulting them over nothing...... Nigeria is plauqed with so much Evil, Greed and Wickedness and you pick on somebody doing good and projecting the Nation in a positive light?.. With such a mind set, I wonder where the Country is truly heading to... Make una dey enjoy the country dey go, we dey watch!
Oh pls shut up and stop being such a melodramatic pussyy.
How does not agreeing with her choice of surname becomes hate?
Why can't she bear a compound name if she values her surname so much?
Is she more accomplished than Ngozi okonjo iweala, oby ezekwesili, and other great Nigerian women that have adopted the surnames of their husbands?
She is a victim of feminism, and i don't respect feminists.

ECOWAS should start paying more attention to endangered animals.
I see no reason why they can't create a "wild-life and endangered species" conservation programme in atleast 3 west-african states where artificial habitats and parks are created for such animals.
