odumchi: I've realized that this whole argument is just based on your own personal convictions. It's people that have an inferiority complex that say such things.

I don't know why indigenous African ceremonies are now considered "optional" (to some) but European ones are a must.

Chai, bekee emeela anyi ihe. Europeans have done Africa dirty. cry

You're right. I have built a sacred place in my mind for my culture/tradition because it is what defines me.
If you believe traditions and culture cannot be changed then you must be the biggest fool on earth. Because these traditions were made by men and women like you, and you submit stupidly to them. You have no Christian spirit in you, for Christ challenged the traditional religion of his day with the words the laws of Moses were made for man , not man for the laws.

bittyend: I'm not married because a village Chief said so, huh? At end of the day, there's nothing they can do - as long as I don't go to Nigeria... Don't get it twisted, I love African culture(s) - but some aspects of our culture(s) don't belong in the 21st century..

Paying for a women = prostitution/pimping..

Let me put it this way, if I pay a woman to get married to me - that means she's automatically my SLAVE, because I own her... However, I don't want a slave as a wife, I want a best friend, a helper, and someone who has the same stake as I do in the marriage...

Saying I'm not 'married' because I didn't pay the bride price; is like a pastor telling me that without paying tithe(s), I'm stealing from God... Fvck that bs, does that God come down from heaven to collect tithes from churches? Hell NO!!!

These elders need to allow it, and let people get married, period. cool
Yes you said it all and so boldly.

People should demonstrate self determination and emancipate themselves from mental slavery. ibo men be brave. Marry your beloved ibo girl in churches outside iboland, and shun these elders. Ibo girls be brave. Follow the man you love to an altar, get govt marriage certificates live your life with the man you love, and damn these slave dealers called the ummunna. Be brave!!!

CrimeRe: Nigerian Coupled Jailed For Beating Their Kids In The UK by Solozzo(m): 11:55am On Aug 16, 2012
redsun: People shouldnt have children unless they handle it.They probably have those kids in droves primarily just to rip off british welfare system like all the losers do. Not because they love children or that they know what it takes to have children.

Ripping off welfare is a lucrative business for high breeders like the somalians and all the british chavs and losers.
Exactly. They were probably stressed up looking after so many children. In combination with a wicked nature, the couple displaced their stress on the children , calling them demons to justify their actions. The punishment serves them well.
PhonesRe: Cosmic Ray: Did You Switch-Off Your Phone Last Night by Solozzo(m): 11:22am On Aug 16, 2012
The cosmic ray hoax not withstanding, it is a good habit to switch off your phone at night, if not expecting a call. This practice prolongs life of your battery and phone and reduces pressure on the service providers. Saves you electricity bills too!
EducationRe: Physics Or Statistics by Solozzo(m): 9:41pm On Aug 10, 2012
ishmael: I saw the thread but thought someone was just trying to make fun of the unemployed graduates in nigeria. Graduate truck drivers? Dem go soon start smoke igbo be dat, because that's what gives them the spirit and morale to drive in the night. Nigerian graduates don suffer.
The reality is that even in dev world eg Australia, manual jobs sometimes pay more than book jobs. For instance I have met truck drivers in my clinic in Australia who earn as much as 4000dollars a week. But it's hard work. Plumbers are earning more than lecturers. Many graduates do these jobs for money.

Back to the post. I think stats may be better than physics because of wider applicability, consultation opportunities and application in research. Physics only prospect in naija and even abroad is teaching.
SportsRe: Usain Bolt Is Using Performance Enhancing Drugs? by Solozzo(m): 9:04pm On Aug 10, 2012
What is the fastest speed a man can run withou drugs? If people did 100m in 10s in the 60s and 70s how fast can we go now with better training facilities and understanding of uman physiology and equipment and psychological supports. I won't be surprised if someone does 100m
In 9s in the next 20years with no PEDs.
SportsRe: Usain Bolt Is Using Performance Enhancing Drugs? by Solozzo(m): 8:57pm On Aug 10, 2012
semid4lyfe: I doubt all these accusations would have been made if Bolt were American.

Me thinks the Americans are just sore over losing their dominance of the sprints hence the resort to this mudslinging and trying to undermine his achievements.

It's no coincidence one of the first peeps to allude to his use of PEDs was Carl Lewis. Anyway, nothing stays hidden under the sun forever, so if he's using PEDs, it'd be revealed sooner or later

Until then, he's innocent. . . . .
Interestingly no expert. Has been able to say what is the limit speed a human being can run without PEDS. untill proven a PED user it would make no sense to accuse Bolt. He has interesting features enhancing his speed too...long legs a hyperactive physiology, early beginnings of achievement as junior champ and a history of both parents being amatuer runners as well as growing up in a country where there is a huge hype about becoming legend and most of all, an easy going attitude that reduces anxiety.

Let's. Not forget that there are more sensitive modern equipment to test for PEDs now. Only time will tell. But for now Usain Bolt is the fastest man in the universe and a great inspiration to many

PoliticsRe: Obama Claims Boko Haram Was Brought By Frustrations & Poor Government by Solozzo(m): 7:13am On Jul 12, 2012
I am amazed at how some Nairalanders have displayed ignorance. Look at where terrorism, civil unrest are breeding today and you find that they are mainly in countries where there are no jobs, a lot of suffering, low level of education. If Islamism is the main cause of boko haram why are there no terrorism Saudi Arabia , Dubai or Qatar This is a wake up call for our govt to call for national unity and start working for the people. This civil unrest would continue. BH is only one of them. In fact it all started with the Niger delta, Massob, and there is another group brewing in iboland already. These groups are merely venting their frustration in being in a country that is corrupt , inefficient and negligent.

FamilyRe: My Wife Speaks In Tongues And Also Prophecy In Tongue Too -but I Dislike It by Solozzo(m): 3:57pm On Feb 21, 2012
I sympathize with the poster. When your wife who was free, happy and the love of your life, now gives her life to the church, changes her personality completely ; she forgets that the church exists because of people and not the reverse. She then sees you as the devil when you advise moderation. I am sure the poster did not want a nun for a wife in the  first place. She needs to be aware of those issues in some way. She needs to choose between her dear husband and a church that has stolen her heart and soul.

To quote Guy Sebastain in his Don't Worry Be Happy song:

Life is short and
we only live it once
So give it all you got
so live and love
and live it up.
, don't worry, be happy,

Best wishes.

PoliticsRe: Pib To Compel Oil Majors ( Shell, Mobil, Etc) To Establish Refineries by Solozzo(m): 1:15pm On Feb 10, 2012
I think the key issue is admission that the govt is too corrupt and inept to run the refineries. The foreign oil producing companies have a track record of efficiency , and if they can run the refineries , good. The Fed. Govt may provide a large chunk of the initial capital and they can share profits on agreed terms. We also need to produce oil for local refining use , at a low rate than the exported one to make this a viable. The will eliminate importation of petroleum products.

If this succeeds then the lives of those who died at subsidy removal riots will not be in vain.
PoliticsRe: Return Our Arms - Militants To Fg by Solozzo(m): 6:57pm On Feb 03, 2012
Agreed with the above post by 2Sexy

By foolishly rewarding a few terrorists, and not addressing the sufferings of the masses and corruption, FG had encouraged more terrorism. BH and the ND terrorists are the outcome of bad govt. The state govts who had also neglected ND areas should be called to book. ND people should deal with their corrupt state govs too.

PoliticsBoko Haram Leader Is A Buk Graduate, Killed by Solozzo(op): 12:03pm On Jan 27, 2012
Security agents on Tuesday killed Uzairu Abba Abdullahi, a textile merchant suspected to be a leader of the violent Islamic sect, Boko Haram, during a five-hour gun duel.
His pregnant wife, who was at his residence in Hotoro, Nassarawa Local Government Area when the team stormed the building, was also shot dead. After the battle, the security men reportedly arrested one of the late businessman's sons.

A family source described Abdullahi as a 2002 Mass Communication graduate of Bayero University, Kano, but security sources described him as one of the planners and executors of last Friday's multiple bomb blasts and attacks on Kano.

Our correspondent gathered that the team that killed him comprised soldiers, policemen and security personnel drawn from other forces. The team reportedly stormed the suburb at about midnight following a tip-off that members of the sect were there in large numbers.
N/E learnt that on reaching the house, Abdulllahi and his men opened fire and the team returned fire. A senior security official told our correspondent that the gunfight raged from 12.30am-5.30am.
Our correspondent reports that while the battle lasted, residents were kept awake for hours as guns boomed. The scene of the incident is close to the farm and horse stable of Chief Deinde Fernandez, who is also Garsan Fulanin Kano, a traditional title in the Kano emirate.

A security official said an army officer who was part of the security operatives was shot in the leg. He was said to be the only victim on the side of the security agents.
The source said, "We had trailed this man for some time. We placed surveillance on him as soon as we received a tip-off that he usually conducted himself in a suspicious manner. So, we decided to pick him up.
"Unfortunately, in the course of the exchange of gunfire, he and his wife were killed. But we captured his son alive.

"The order we got from our Oga (higher authorities) was for us to catch him (Abdullahi) alive so he could be useful in our investigation of Friday's multiple bomb attacks on security forces and innocent Nigerians. Unfortunately, his resistance led to his death."
According to our source before the operatives swooped on the Boko Haram leader, the security authorities had ordered the 9th Squadron Mobile Police, which is close to the scene of the operation, to be on standby.

The early morning Muslim prayers could not be said in the area until about 6.30am, instead of the usual 5.30am.
Efforts made to confirm the incident by newsmen were rebuffed by the army and police authorities who refused to give details of the attack.
The late Abdulahi's cousin, Alhaji Ali Abdullahi, confirmed the death of the suspect and his wife to reporters.
According to him, the late suspected Boko Haram leader hailed from Gaya Local Government Area in the state. However, he claimed he was an easygoing man who related well with his neighbours. He described the incident leading to his death as "very unfortunate".

Ali also lamented that all the efforts made by the family to recover his cousin's corpse and that of his wife, for the purpose of prompt burial, had proved abortive.
Our correspondent gathered that most residents of Hotoro have relocated from the area to safer zones within the metropolis out of the fear that the security agents might return.
Meanwhile, the Kano State Government has organised a mass burial for unclaimed bodies from the Friday attacks. N/E gathered that about 50 bodies were buried in Kalebawa village, along Kano-Danbatta road on Tuesday.

http://www.nigerianeye.com/2012/01/boko-haram-leader-wife-killed-in-5-hour.html

A source at the Murtala Muhammed Specialist Hospital, who pleaded anonymity, said the corpses, which had been at the hospital since the attack, had started to decompose.
Our correspondent saw two vehicles of the mortuary unit, filled with the corpses, leaving the hospital. He later learnt that corpses that had been properly identified remained in the mortuary for their loved ones to claim.

There was no official confirmation of the actual number of the corpses taken for mass burial, however, as all efforts to contact the hospital officials proved abortive.
Also on Tuesday, the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero, led other emirs on a sympathy visit to the the victims receiving treatment at the Murtala Muhammed Specialist Hospital.
Emir Bayero went in company with the Emir of Kazaure, Alhaji Najib Adamu; Emir of Dutse, Alhaji Nuhu Muhammad; and the Sardaunan Kano and immediate past governor of Kano State, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau.

PoliticsRe: What GEJ Should Have Done On Fuel Subsidy by Solozzo(m): 2:56pm On Jan 06, 2012
Fuel subsidy is the only visible govt financial support for the poor. Buying fuel @ 140N equate it to fuel price in Australia where minimum welfare payout for the unemployed is 150,000N equivalent per month after tax.

We need to put in place support systems like good road, regular power supply and save money by  fighting corruption as well as job availability. Since these have not been achieved, fuel subsidy should continue.
Christianity EtcRe: Christmas Bombings: God Is Powerless! by Solozzo(m): 4:27pm On Jan 01, 2012
Personally I believe in the existence of a supreme being who had caused the existene of the universe. Our understanding of him can never be full because of our narcissm in believing that we are special and deserve his attention 24/7. It is little knowledge that make us think this way. We are no better in the eyes of god than a housefly or the Xmas goat we ate last year. We need to protect ourselves and not waiting for god to do it for us, having provided us with a brain and hands, it is our choice to seek protection peacefully or aggressively. The task of saving from boko haram is too small for God when has to take care of gravity, solar systems and galaxies. It is like asking your father to save you from a small bully in your class in primary school.

The kingdom of heaven is within us says Christ and it is our duty to find it ourselves. heaven helps those who help themselves. This is the message of Christ that have been misunderstood for ages and hidden by pastors and churches to stem your development. Read the Gospel according to Thomas.

It is a DO IT YOURSELF WORLD. Survival of the fittest. Churches need to buy bomb detecting equipment. They need to hunt down and destroy any boko haram around them. We need to amend the constitution to allow legal process for secession. Call for a sovereign national conference. Those who died on Xmas should be buried in honor and be a message to xtians to be armed always. We are at war, and we do not know it.
PoliticsRe: Is It Not Time To Totally Purge The Army Off Core-northerners? by Solozzo(m): 8:03am On Dec 26, 2011
Definitely NO. This is the kind of action that triggered off the civil war in 1966. Removing northern soldiers from the army is tribalism and injustice. Most of them are not involved in what is going on. Any soldier aiding boko haram can be severely punished.

My take is that GEJ should make peace with his party. The northern pdp is angry with him because he cheated them a term when he used presidential influence to breach their agreement to rotate presidency candidate between north and south. The bombings is the terrorist response to the injustice. He got warnings about this before the elections but was too greedy for power to take caution. He needs to consider how to make it up to them.
