My son has been eating very well since last month. Suddenly since Friday he's been loosing appetite. He barely had any food on Friday. On Saturday he refused to eat any cereal or formula. He was on breast milk only and today it's the same thing. And even the breast sef he's not sucking much at a time.

He's not running temperature, he's playing as usual, but he's not eating.
He took 90mls of formula this morning and small breast milk
He's 8 months

It's a phase and will pass. Their appetite wax and wane. Meanwhile multivite syrup or Bco syrup can increase his appetite in the mean time.

Please who has ever taken a tough professional exam while having a baby to take care of. How did you do it. I wanted to take it while pregnant cuz I was strong and I felt I could do it but everyone discouraged me cuz of my 'condition' and I regret listening to them. Now that I've had the baby I can't even think of how it would work. I can't stay back in the office and study cuz of the baby, neither can I imagine waking up at night to read cuz I'm not even catching enough sleep as it. It's bad enough that I'd have to sacrifice my weekends for lectures. How do you people do it biko. I don't want to fail. And I don't want to have to wait until baby is older.

Secondly, my baby would be five months by next week, can I start experimenting with all the purees and baby okro you people have been sharing or is that for after 6 months.

Thirdly how do you purée food in a blender when the blender is obviously not sterile abi do you boil it after blending cuz my own blender has some hard to reach parts and can't be dismantled for more thorough washing. It looks clean to the naked eyes but... Abi can I pour boiling water in the blender and cover for a while before use. Won't that affect the blades.

I did and i came out successful. I had my 2nd baby in May and had my part1 prof exam by Nov that yr. I introduced food by 5months dats in oct. By oct ending he was gulping pap and cerelac well. i started reading actively by september.
Things i did.
1. I usually use creche for my children so i use to stay back after work from 2pm to 5pm reading at least 2 to 3 times weekly.
2. The days i didnt read in d office, i sleep early and wake up by 1am and read even while breastfeeding. Usually i didnt like this night reading but i was determined not to fail cos alot of money was involved.
3. On sundays, immediately after church by 10am, i leave my baby with my help and husband, off to one of d lecture theaters in a uni close to me. I usually read for 3hours and come back.
4. Towards the exam period, i did alot of discussion class and it helped.
Dear, it isnt easy but you can pull it off, just be determined ok. Success will be yours in Jesus name.

I faced same issue the first time I tried cooking it..what I did was to put the tied okpa into a big nylon, tied the mouth well, then put into the pot..you can double it because it may likely tear cos of heat..hope this helps

Oh nne thanks. Thats doubling the nylon right? I have resolved todo that next time and also tying the mouth with a twine.

So ytday I decided to stop breastfeeding both babies and applied 'stop and grow ' on my nips (stop n grow is like nail polish used to prevent kids from sucking their fingers). My son came , tested and screamed ' mum your breast is bitter' and he kept spitting. He told his sister that 'mum's breast is bitter, don't suck' but what does she know! She also came and experienced it herself and started spitting too.

We couldn't sleep all through the night.she kept crying! Her brother has accepted it And requested for tea at night

Right now, I'm going through so much pains! I have cabbage in my bra, I've taken ibuprofen but the pain is still there . I'm feeling frustrated already !!!!


Those that weaned,how did you cope? My gran says this cold turkey approach is not the best

Cold turkey is never the best. Sorry dear, you will start feeling better the 3rd day. Just take the ibuprofen twice daily and wear a good supportive bra. It will soon pass. Sorry you hear.

I have also seen some products with their reviews online but am still confused ( you know you can't trust this online things atimes) , dats why I need answers personally from experienced mamas here so I can combine with the the ones I got from some few experienced mamas at my clinic( just so am on the right track) .

1. Best brand of car seat/ stroller to buy... ( is the stroller necessary here in Nigeria as per the hustle and Bustle).

2.which is better: Huggies or Molfix.

3. Best Brand of reusable diapers (quantity to buy).

4. Best Brand of Breast pad to buy

5. Best Brand of Baby oil, lotion and powder to buy ( johnsons had a bad review of recent so am kinda confused )

6. Best Brand of Feeding bottles, flask , Breast pump and sterilizer(or I just strerilze the old fashion way)

7. Best brand of clothings( sleep suits, jumpsuits, shawls, socks, moccasins etc) or can I just buy randomly if they look nice

8. Do I need to wash all the new clothings before use ?

9. Best brand of Baby walker and rocker/swing( asides mamaroo).

10. Best brand of maternity Bra ( am on the busty side )

11. Best brand of Baby cot, playard or Bassinet.

12. Best brand of Baby bath plastics ( can I just buy randomly too)

Theres no best anything. Money determines what you get and also what was the bomb for A, may be trash to B.
That aside,
1. I use evergreen but i see graco is better, comparing mine with a friend of mine.
2. Huggies(d one in transparent nylon dat comes in a carton) anytime anyday but na money kill am

4. I have only used avent.
5. Theres no best here o, i hv used johnson and doremi. Many mums swear by chicco.
6. Buy randomly but feel the quality. I like Georges and Earlydays anytime anyday.
7.feeding bottles: no idea though i hv always had avent but i think its your lo dat will finally make her preference.
Sterilizer: i have avent electric dat i have used just once, if i'm to advise i will say go with d manual old fashion way if electricity isnt regular.
Flask: Gint stainless will give u value for your money
Breastpump: no idea.
8. I dont but many here do so the choice is yours.
9. Fisher price, graco are good.
10. No idea
11. I use baby start but graco is a good brand.
12. No idea. Either buy the locally made one or the fanciful foreign ones.

My hubby caressed my boob, and I felt like my womb contracted..though lightly and not painful.
Although I'm not entirely certain it's my womb contracting, or my my baby taking its first kick lol.. Since i'm just 4month..and I don't know how the kicks should feel

Again, he tried it, and I felt it again..whether hand or mouth, but this time it felt more like a nudge and more pronounced. Its not painful but it's not a comfortable feeling at all..

What's the connection with breast and womb here.. Should we exclude boobs in kpekus matter to avoid stories that touch? Or no, it doesn't mean? Like is normal and nothing to worry about? What's going on?

handling or sucking the breast releases oxytocin, which contracts the womb. Thats the connection. It's even a natural way of inducing labour.
I wouldnt say you should stop it entirely, but it should be very light handling. Pls forget sucking for now. Cheers

Take 7up or sprite and lie down till you feel stronger. Dont eat any heavy duty food yet, if you must in small portions.

Your uma leaves (moimoi leaves) can stay till tmrw without withering. For me what i do is i keep mine in the freezer and when i want to use it, i allow it defrost on its own. By then its very amenable to use, it hardly breaks and goes to any direction you want it. Pls take care of yourself.

May3, baroba, are you guys still available? I ran out of leaves and used nylon bags.i tied tightly but the top part close to the knot came out soggy while the rest part of the okpa came out with okpa consistency. Where did i go wrong please.

Teamie, this is likely to be a fungal infection. Get it checked when next you go for antenatal

Finally went to the hospital yesterday and results show malaria plus plus. The Doctor decided to place me on arthemeter injections for 3 days first before I start taking arthemeter drugs and pcm
These are the drugs I was given

Usually before I take any drugs I use an app on my phone to check and be sure it wont affect my son but I can't seem to find anything about these ones

The drugs are ok. The tablet is arthemether lumefantrine. A little is excreted in breastmilk but no cause for alarm.

Why stay in a society you are not comfortable in for fear of disfellowship. How does this disfellowship thing work? All your family members cant shun you now. At least some friends can still stay by your side or Is that JW members dont make friends with non JW people?

I will say give it time, if not for anything to satisfy your conscience that you did try to keep your home. While at it, pray and involve close christian sisters to uphold you in prayers. Then try to have a talk with him to tell you what he really wants. If possible let this be done in the presense of family members. After this, you can take it from there.

For my first, i was feeling dizzy while strolling to a friend's house. I quickly located the nearest salon and told her madam i think i'm about fainting, as she saw me, she quickly brought out mat and asked me to lie down. She bought me 7up and after sometime i felt better, she took my phone and dialled my husband to come get me. I can never forget that experience.

Actually she is 4yrs younger n my bro is 2yrs younger than i am. My bro calls me by a nickname. I am d first child/daughter of d family so i expect her to at least call me by my child's name.

Simple just tell her to call you mama ada for eg when next she calls you by your name. Pls be sweet while doing it
