This is an old thread but i can't help commenting. Idu ulo is very important in all igbo settings. I have never heard of a bride that they didn't do it for. My aunty that stood as my granny gave me the usual low stool, Odo and aka Odo, osi ite(tripod stand), ngiga(metallic basket for fish), broom and wrappers. I think these are the traditional things. My parents of course gave me the modern things.
The importance of this age long tradition can't be overemphasised and it also gives the woman respect in her husband's house.

Cyclogest pessary is quite effective and leakage is normal as with all pessaries. This doesn't mean it's not absorbed. Which did your Dr prescribe for you? Pls don't self medicate. Both drugs are progesterone and can be switched after your Dr must have examined you. All d best.

For those who know me from the family section I have had two previous pregnancies and how my mother in law has made life so unbearable for me. [code][/code] . So I summoned up courage when I got pregnant again and moved out of my matrimonial home. it was tough but I stood strong. Fast forward to my due date still no sign of baby so I went for induction. On getting to the hospital my water was broken and an iv was set. within 10 minutes my baby was born but the real problem started after being stitched(had a tear) I started bleeding internally. My vigina and anus was so swollen I couldn't close my laps. Was wheeled back to the labor room, drugged and my vigina opened to pack out the blood. Feel better down there now. Am back in my matrimonial home with my baby and my mother in law is still there. But who cares when I have my baby girl with me. so sorry for the long story everyone.

Halo mamas in d house, I went for scanning today due to the prescription from my doctor n discovered I am 14 weeks gone not 9 weeks I earlier presumed. I saw my baby dancing, it gave me joy. Really God is awesome. My EDC date is 17/4/2016. Pls wat is BPD cos it is showing 23.4mm. Thank u.

Congrats. BPD is biparietal diameter. It's a kind of head measurement mainly used after 13weeks in scan measurement to date your pregnancy. From the figure obtained, the sonographer can now say how old your fetus is.

@niyyah! Funny bs. Congrats once again. Sorry about the constipation esply with episiotomy. There's this vegetable igbos call utazi(its kind of bitter). We use it for making pepper soup for nursing mothers. My mum uses it to prepare most of my food during omugwo. It works wonders. Are you stil taking ur iron tablets? Pls take alot of fluids and soft foods. Kisses to your baby

Fansidar is the choice drug for intermittent prevention of malaria in pregnancy. Safe from 2nd trimester. Hope you don't react to fansidar and like drugs. All the best

My water broke yesterday around 9pm d color was slight green, no strong contraction up till now just dull backache n tighten abdomen, my edd was 10th & 12th. Worst part is I'm far away from home went for a party yesterday on Saturday n couldn't return home though I'm on my way to the hospital now which will take about 3 hours. Pls mamas pray 4 me n my lo. If there is any advice kindly drop it. Thanks everyone.
