There are some RRS that consumes 19L/100km and there are some LR3 that consumes 15L/100KM. It is all about the engine oil, the fuel and the general maintenance. Like Nixon 55 stated, that should be the least of your worries. What is paramount is that clean RRS is truly clean and well maintained.

Yes, as far as those components in the Car are in good working condition. The fuel consumption depends on the way you drive and the distance you cover to and from work. The LR3 V6 is superb and very similar to the Ford Explorer as many of its components in the engine are shared. That said, it is still a Land Rover. And they all use Premium unleaded fuel only which is not available in Nigeria. And the major issue you might encounter is if the fuel has not damaged your engineYou should not be worried about fuel when you own a Range. We are lobbying the government on behalf of the forum members to reduce the pump price drastically but meanwhile, fuel should not be an issue as N6000 will fill up the Range if the filling station people are God fearing. I once bought 88 litres in my Sport from an AP station and I cried out and they started begging me to pay them what I have, so I gave them N5000 and we became friends. That is what you should be more concerned about.

Yeah. Mechanics are terrible. But not all. Some car owners do a fair bit of damage on their own.
I know someone who allowed a mechanic pour AP Visco 2000 ( engine oil ) into his honda transmission instead of Honda ATF Z1 simply because both fluids were red in colour. That same person continues to complain to this day that his mechanic deceived him and is useless. He refuses to accept that the cheaper price of Visco 2000 was what influenced his decision.
I know of another person who bought a brand new 2015 honda accord and saw a light on his dashboard. Instead of reading his manual he asked his nearly 50 yr driver who is probably used to driving 504 what the light meant. Of course the driver refusing to fall his hand suggested the car needed servicing and off my friend went replacing everything replaceable only to discover at the end that the light was indicating his tire pressure was low. This person blamed his driver and mechanic for the expense incurred rather than accept that the expense would have been avoided had he read his manual first.
Another lady was servicing her car monthly. Changing fuel filter, air filter, and oil filters along with engine oil and fan belt. This was done on a monthly basis for over 2 yrs until one of her work colleagues found out and busted the mechanics bubble. I am sure that mechanic had built his house from this lady's payments. The items to be changed are clearly spelt out in the manual.
A mechanic services your carburettor and does not couple it together with all the parts. That already tells you not to use him again. But I can bet most of us will go back to such a demon for him to replace our ball joints.
The point here is that many car owners are not knowledgeable. But some of us ( not all ) at times create problems for ourselves and conveniently blame people we suspect or know to be limited. Case of the one-eyed man asking the blind for directions.
Terrible mechanics will continue to exist and have a field day until we car owners take the trouble ( and yes it is some trouble ) to become more knowledgeable about the cars we drive and carry our loved ones in on a daily basis.

As a member of the Association of Roadside mechanics of Nigeria, we are tired of owners of murano putting abro Type A in their gear, of proud owners of Benz gl playing with the tiptronic buttons while on motion, of guys using the latest phones and still allow their mechanic to buy seahorse atf for their 2007 Acura mdx, for allowing 20w 50 to be used on their Lexus jeep and will cry out that kazeem has destroyed their cars. In the medical field, there are agbo doctors, roadside pharmacy, neighbourhood chemist, room and parlour clinics, General hospital, st Nicholas and redington. Every body get him level. It is the same with us in the field. Who is your mechanic? Is it the agbo doctor or St Nicholas doctor?

Sorry for the gear issues but I will add that you wanted these wahalas and you got it. How come you allowed too many trials on your car without being in a position to dictate the way they should fix your car. That said, buying a used gearbox is not the issue except you get the right oil for it. I have bought many gears and 90% of the time, they work but only when you use the right oil for the car. You have not told us which model is your Accord, so I cannot give an accurate advice until we know which Accord you have.

This year, a common issue is being overlooked, the axle oil. Have it checked as soon as possible. Front and rear and the auxiliary oil too. Dont let it ruin your Range Rover. Lagos and Abuja, we are performing Auxiliary and Axle oil change for your Range Rovers and it is advisable it is done before the rains start yelling....Happy New year

Bros, we are still grasping on how to light our homes and you dey suggest electric cars. Imagine this scenario, your electric powered car runs 110kms before you recharge and you and your folks are going to Benin and you get to 3 junction and the battery needs recharging, is it at that village that does not have power lines running through the village that will charge the car's battery?

How come it can run for 1m milesin the USA while those bought brand new from Lanre Shittu will pack up at 150k miles? It is the diesel that we are talking about. Where is the diesel? Is it the dirty diesel fuel that is destroying the trucks that you are talking about? How many Mack trucks do you see on the road today to the extent that you will be advised to buy the truck spec without electronic brainbox because it can withstand our dirty sulfur rich adulterated diesel. Generator owners, truck owners are crying and one is recommending diesel powered cars. Whether the fuel is available, until we know the cetane level of the fuel, we cannot vouch for it. I have an X6 Diesel that I am looking for the fuel pump for the past 3 months. Ladipo and Aspamda says None, so what happens to an owner in an emergency?

Never, Dont try it. Recently, I bought a gearbox for Acura MDX and requested that the seller should bring a gear specialist to fix the gear. After fixing and using our pureguard, the mechanic told me that sea horse is better than Pureguard. That they have been using seahorse and it works. I drove them away. If you google dexron 111d, it is a strange feeling because there is nothing like Dexron 111d only 11d.

What brand of car do you need the atf for?

The Honda cars request that you can use dexron iii as a temporary oil in case ofan emergency . Many people will use it for long as long as it works but the reality is to use the manufacturer specified atf. Holt will not work with your honda.

Please don't try it. Mobil ATF is Dexron 11e and will never be suitable for your Honda. Use our Pureguard synthetic transmission which is very suitable for your vehicle. Complaints galore, i had a volvo 760 gle 1987 model that i used in Europe and brought it to Nigeria in 1999, first thing was that the car required unleaded fuel and Nigeria had leaded fuel then. Catalyst, air flow meter, fuel pump, nozzles, fuel control, and the gear required dexron 2 fluid and I used abro, changed two gearboxes . Fast forward to the new brands, they use premium unleaded, dexron 6 transmission fluids, timing belts that must be changed at 100k miles or yawa go begin gas as everyone is having now. I know the volvo is one the best cars in the world but the owners here are not worthy of the cars, go to volvo forums and learn the basic guides to enjoy your car. You dont need a mechanic from heaven, read about volvo and show the mechanic the way to go and he will become good. If you with your smart phone, give your volvo to kazeem to fix, you also should be called kassim. Back to my 760 gle days, my engine was the only engine in lagos that still had the original engine, other 760s had 740 engines fitted and i finally gave it out in 2006 when i realised thst in a year's time, i will still have a twenty year old car. The alhaji amusa end of ladipo mechanics are good but without the modern tools, how can they cope? In the meantime, follow the rules, get a cheap scanner from konga that works with your smart phone and scan the car, google the codes and then, take the report to any mechanic and together you will fix your car. You can get one for that budget and like I stated in the other post, the battery is the very important thing in the car, it must be functional and then nip any issue in the bud before it becomes a major problem which may cost you a lot to fix and then the misconception of how expensive it is to maintain now comes to play. I once advised a client to manage his air compressor for sometime but he should quickly change the filter. He managed the filter until the pump went berserk and the new pump was now required. He complained that I told him to use it for sometime and I told him that sometime is not three months. A new pump AMK cost N170k but still cheaper than Infinity QX56 air compressor pump.

Hmmm, when you get one, all other brands are no longer worthy of admiration. You can get one at that amount but a naija used. First thing is the battery, second is the battery.
