What do we want to do with Chukwueze? You want to buy more mediocrity to add a team full of mediocre players.

In every match, there are usually missed chances from both teams but at the end there'll surly be a winner. So don't use that "missed chances" narrative. "If" Barca had scored? Why didn't they score.

Go ans watch how Barca played after it was 4-0 and come back and tell us what it looked like.. Maybe it's then you'd understand what I've been trying to pass across.
I watched the match so their is nothing you can tell me about it that I dont know already. Valverde had the right approach you don't go to Anfield with the mindset to dominate and play Tika Tika you will be destroyed. if Messi dribbles from midfield, destroy 4 players and score no one will attribute it to Valverde or his system but to the individual quality of Messi so like wise if Alba and lenglet + others decides to make individual mistakes and errors while the strikers miss chances why are you attributing it to Valverde?

When we won the first leg against Liverpool , those that complained, complained how the TEAM was giving up so many chances to Liverpool and how Ter Stegen was awesome. When we lost boom!!! The coach became the problem, what coach have done to stop a goal like that Origi goal that Trent Arnold assisted Origi from the corner? I just think fans just need someone to lay the blame on.

If we win a match this thread rarely moves highest one page or two but when we lose, fans, FANS will be trolling their own team how?! It's really despicable
Valverde wanted to trade punches. He knew he would concede chances, but he would also create chances, the same exact game as the first leg. On the first leg, he won every single coin toss, Liverpool missed all their chances, and Barcelona scored theirs, mainly because Messi played at his best. However, on the second leg, football being football, the complete opposite happened. He lost every coin toss. He thought it would end up 1-1, 2-2, 2-1, 1-2 or something like that, both teams hurting each other, and it actually makes sense, thats what it should have happened, except, again, this time he was the one who lost every coin toss.

I dont blame him for that loss, but i do believe that he drifted away too much from Barcelona's philosophy. Controlling the game its something that Barcelona needs like water but yet again how many teams can do that at Anfield.

If you really watched that match and saw Barca's approach to scoring, you'd know that the coach played a big role in the bottling.

They played with no ambition. They were also conservative and complacent coupled with zero drive to win and poor mentality. All these were the things the coach should have worked on.
Wait the coach should give them ambition and good mentality? The coach should also wipe their ass for them as well. Barca also missed chances in that game. If Barca had scored and qualified, will you have attributed it to valverde?

Valverde didn't tell them fall alseep during that corner but Valverde's conservative approach to game cost us. After Origi made it 4-0, they were not even playing as though they needed a goal. All we saw was pass pass pass pass with no or little ambition of scoring.
Most of the goals Barca conceded were due to lack of concentration, you can't really blame Valverde for the players turning off their brains during some moments of the match. Valverde is just an easy scapegoat for you the Barca fans to blame. If Barca had scored and qualified would you have attributed it to valverde?

The "fans" on this thread will not agree o, as far as they are concerned immediately Valverde stops coaching Barca, Barca will win UCL... Oh well the man will go by the end of the season so we can see how well the club will become when he leaves
It's nonsense. The way they blame valverde has no leg to stand on.

Valverde's first season - 1st leg Barca 4 Roma 0, 2nd Leg Roma 3 Barca 0. Roma qualifies

Valverde's second season - 1st leg Barca 3 Liverpool 0, 2nd leg Liverpool 4, Barca 0. Liverpool qualifies.

If you watch and know much about football, you'd know it's the coach's approach that determines how the players will play. Before Barca signed Valverde why did these players not make these 'individual mistakes" that made the team bottle a 3-1 and 3-0 lead?
The coach can prepare his team down the last detail and one mistake can ruin everything. When Gerrard slipped against Chelsea did the coach account for that? Did valverde tell the team to fall asleep during a corner or for Alba who has been reliable through out the season to have one of the worst game of the season.

I can still remember how Air Mark was so sure and certain that Liverpool will qualify for the UCL final even after Barca was leading THREE goals to ZERO in aggregate. The funny and annoying thing was that Liverpool still qualified after all his sureness and certainty.

Still can't believe some people still support that fraud of a coach in this forum.

Among all the coaches that are being attacked now (Ole, Emery, Kovac, Low etc), Valverde is the worst of all.
When will people learn not to blame coaches when individual players makes mistakes.

Barca is just doing business to upgrade his profile and value so as to sell.

I guess they are seeing that their La masia is becoming infamous, the guy is just being used as a poster boy for their La Masia
Definitely na just to raise the hype of their academy. Their was nothing special about la masia until they got lucky with the xavi/Messi generation . 3 yrs from now that boy will be in a relegation team. Our academy is better

The only thing Chelsea fans can boost about Lampard is his goal scoring ability.Lamps was a Glorified striker. A goal tally boosted by a ridiculous number of penalties covered the fact he was meh at his main job no wonder England was useless. when it comes to the traditional job of a midfielder he is competent at best and only his goals set him apart from others. The only thing people talk about when speaking of Lampard are his goals. Not one of other aspect of the game would be be better than players like Kdb or Fabregas. And why wouldn't he score more goals when he's played behind a lone striker and been given free reign most of his career? When he plays as a proper midfielder he flops.
I swear the only thing we ever hear about Lampard is his goal scoring ability which is not even the role of a midfielder.

When compared to Vidic, Nesta Canavaro Ramos Carvalho Puyol Boateng, Sammer etc Real defenders, Rio was beyond useless.

Vidic had to carry pipes like Rio Wes Brown Oshea etc

I watched Rio his entire career and knew he was useless. Its different being part of a great squad. Gary Neville was part of a great squad but was individually useless

Nesta got to Milan when Maldini was 34, Cafu was 32 and Stam was 30. Nesta carried that Milan defence for 10yrs

By 2007 CL final which Milan won Nesta was playing with Oddo Jankulovski and 39yr old Maldini You will probably tell us Oddo and Jankulovski are also great defenders
I stopped reading when I saw Ramos,Puyol and even the stupid boateng. You are always biased Rio at his peak basically had no weaknesses as a centre back. None.

Nesta was the defensive lynchpin of Lazio when he played alongside Paolo Negro, Guiseppe Pancaro Fernando Couto and won the serie A ahead of AC Milan, Juventus, Inter Milan

That back 4 can you list their age to at that time to know the load Nesta carried in that defence
He was great at lazio no doubt. But most of his career he played with many greats defenders. It's really hard to know his true level. You are giving all the praise to Vidic who was a great defender no doubt forgetting that Nesta also benefitted from the same thing. Ferdinands performance in 2007/08 was as good as a performance any center back would make over a whole season. Technique, reading, speed, agility, strength he had it all. The only edge Nesta has over him is that during his peak, he had all those abilities and used them for a longer time with greater consistency. You are making it sound like Ferdinand was a useless defender.

Nesta reached an higher peak but was Injury prone. Playing with Stam and maldini also helped.
People seem to value defenders if they're all about 'getting stuck in' more of a Vidic than a Ferdinand type of defenders. Defenders that like tackles

I think it takes more talent and reading of the game to keep your shorts clean not dive in or make rash decisions etc. Like Ferdinand.

Rio was world class. He did it on the European stage repeatedly, even while he was at Leeds he performed well in Europe.

For me, he was better than Vidic, better than Terry, better than Carvalho. Best defender in the PL and best English defender too.

What a ridiculous statement which makes me believe you hardly saw a prime Ferdinand. The closest thing to a classic Italian defender. Composed, intelligent, calm, elegant, fast, athletic. You didn't watch United from 2006-09. I hated the idiot.
i don't think Nesta was significantly better than Rio. Did Nesta ever show consistency over the course of an entire league?

Pls, my fellow united fans. Between vidic and Ferdinand, who was the better defender.

huh
Ferdinand is the greatest English defender for a reason.Ferdinand and Vidic were both world class defenders. Ferdinand was better in some departments (influence, pace, positioning, reading of the game, organizing the defence, calm with the ball, technique), Vidic was better in others (heading, man marking, tackling, more aggressive, etc). Fact is they both matched perfectly well.

Cheque book manager, plain and simple who has never and will never put himself in a position where he has to show his worth as a manager. As soon as this City side start to decline and he can’t motivate them anymore, he will go running to the next cheat mode project. I can’t bring myself to rate him. Klopp is his Daddy.
