Kimbeast: 3 champions league final in 4yrs says otherwise.
Despite the number of world class players they boasted, they hardly won many trophies. Of course they went to 3 Champions League finals in 4 years but their league trophies during that period diminish their status as a great side.
Kimbeast: Milan dominated close to three decades in world football. Sacchi/Capello's Milan in the late '80s and early '90s - Ancelotti's Milan in the mid 2000s. People could make a case for Van gaal ajax or pep barca but in my opinion no team has dominated like Milan. It's a shame what Milan has turned to in recent years.
Ibime: I don't think he's been forgotten. In his era, he was behind Maradona and arguably one or two others so by them time you compare history as a whole, he will be shunted down the pecking order. Zidane will also face the same in a couple of decades time, although recency effect, social media and his exploits as a coach are keeping his name in the spotlight for now.
Football clubs and National federations and your countrys' journalists are who keep your name in highlight. Neither Milan nor Holland have over-promoted Gullit as he left them in acrimony. They also have other bigger names to promote, whereas the likes of Eusebio will always be promoted by Benfica and Portuguese journalists while Zidane would be promoted by the French.
True and I also think being from a nation that has produced some great players down the age some will be left behind for others who are more prominent or better. Brazil for instance I think rivaldo and Romario has been shunned to some extent to promote Pele and De Lima.
odizeey: person when convulse bfr 98 final, dem inject am to play by fire by force. It small wound for 2016 dem package ororo out of field. Someone that came from two years injury and still went on to perform in 2002. Please please let no one compare my Ronaldo to his counterfeit. Ororo made me support man u, Ronaldo De Lima made me love football.
Just imagine the insult my friend. One even said he was overrated .
Kimbeast: At the time, Gullit was seen as the best between basten and rijkaard He captained the Dutch to win Euro 88 and was very much the marquee player in that team. Van Basten was a better player (an incredible goal scorer) but Gullit usually had the limelight in that era. Van Basten wasn’t even first choice for the Dutch in Euro 88 where Johnny Bosman was planned to be their starting striker.
The fact that Gullit is somehow underrated now have more to do with the competition. Van Basten's competition in an all-time debate is Ronaldo, Müller,Romario, — pure number 9s. Gullit as an SS/right winger is "competing" with the likes of Pele, Maradona, Messi etc.
Kimbeast: I think A.c Milan once won the league scoring just 36goals lol. It's truly Amazing how Milan once had a team with 5 all-time greats — Van Basten, Gullit (a bit of a stretch as his competitors in the all-time pool are literally the greatest, but he was such a unique player), Rijkaard, Baresi and Maldini.
Gullit is a player I feel the passage of time has been less kind to. He has been forgotten.
Kimbeast: I hope people realize Back in the 90s, scoring 30 goals in a season was a bit of a rarity and a great achievement Players often reach those heights these days without much fuss.
Serie A between the mid 80s and the mid 90s was ridiculously good and financially unsustainable. Nearly every single club in it had 1-2 World class players. At one point it bordered to the ridiculous were top players like Hagi and Maradona would leave top clubs like Barcelona and Real to join minion clubs like Brescia and Napoli. Seria A then was ridiculous.
Kimbeast: Lol.... seriously who are those defenders? Godin, juanfran Bwhahahaha. Defenders that even Zaha will destroy one on one. De lima Ronaldo was playing against the best defenders of all time.
Here are some of the defenders present at the 1998 World Cup.
Cafu Roberto Carlos Paolo Maldini Alessandro Costacurta Fabio Cannavaro Alessandro Nesta Gianluca Pessotto Bixente lizarazu Marcel Desailly Lilian Thuram Laurent Blanc Carlos Gamarra Fernando Hierro Miguel Nadal Jaap Stam Frank de boer Jurgen Kohler A very old Lothar Matthaus Sinisa Mijhalovic Ivan Cordoba Sol Campbell Tony Adams Roberto Ayala Javier zanetti
You think it's playing against John stones and boateng.
Kimbeast: I hope people realize Back in the 90s, scoring 30 goals in a season was a bit of a rarity and a great achievement Players often reach those heights these days without much fuss.
Yet a young de Lima was scoring 47goals for Barca and 40goals in Seria a in a season. Indomie generation full this thread.
There seems to be something wrong with your numbers or maybe there's just something wrong with you
It's like you haven't see the numbers ororo posted in England or Madrid
49 goals in 75 games?
Go and check how many league goals alone Ororo scored in 14/15 and check how many games it took him.
Also, how old was Ororo when he collected his first The Best in 08?
Youre clearly not well.
You nor know ball.
Serie A Context 97/98: Ronaldo scored 40 goals with Inter Milan - all competitions - with a dysfunctional team (for many reasons). the only offensive threat was Ronaldo. No collective play and Seria A was the best league in Europe. This was the only season he was injury free at inter and he banged 40goals in the toughest league in the world go and sit down somewhere you don't know ball
De Lima in this era will score 80goals yearly in la liga if players like Suarez can score 50 playing for barca.
nihilistjnr: This kind of idiotic nonsense infuriates me.
CR7 no reach?
Have you watched CR7 actually play?
I'm not even talking about the fact that the man was banging 40-50 goal seasons consecutively for fun.
Or the fact that the man has 4 UCL medals, and 6 domestic league medals
Have you actually watched him play?
54 goals in 57 games for PSV when Eredivisie was actually good. Then went to Barca - 47 goals in 49 games. Then to Inter playing with bunch of dummies - 49 goals in 75 games in the strongest league ever. In the meantime tearing it up in World cup and winning balon dor All that before hitting 23... Thunder punish injury if not de Lima will not have been insulted to be compared to 21st century Gerd Muller.
BlueRayDick: The question we've been asking is what is more to football u want ororo to possess he doesn't? Is it match winning performances? Is it inspiring the team to title challenge or what?
U claim u've watched De lima's performances take Ur breath away, but we can argue same for ororo
Put Ur thoughts to paper and let's see if it will stand proper scrutiny.
The mistake you are making is that you think I am trying to convince you about de Lima being a god when honestly I could careless what you think. You probably didn't even watch Him in action.
BlueRayDick: What do u mean by he was unplayable? U people need to do better to convince us how he was better than ororo because if na by goals scored ni ó, assist ó, individual awards ó, MOTM performances, cups won, etc....Ororo full ground gidigba ó. At 33 ororo still dey jump 7feet dey score acrobatic. Shey that one no take Ur breath away? Abeg!
I rever De lima so much growing up, but them messi and ororo Don carry football pass where dem De Lima do reach abeg
There is more than numbers in football, otherwise C.Ronaldo is a far inferior player than Bican, Di Stefano, Pelé and others. Nobody rates Gerd Muller highly yet he is a better goal scorer than Cr7. Use your head
Coutinho14: Ok let's cut it out the bs, R9 is one of the goats and with that being said, don't disrespect CR7 like that. I think R9 might be the greatest cf in history (I don't trust pele 's numbers and the competition during his time) but he's NOT better than cr7 and I don't even like that mf.
This is what I was looking for.The guy is the best pure striker in the game's history in my opinion. The sheer bravery to not only score from distance but to round the keeper numerous times in high pressure situations (more than any other striker spoke volumes of his ability and talent level) Look at the video of Zlatan admiring him and that would give you an idea of the sort of respect he commanded. He was just not only phenomenal, he was truly an icon of immense proportions and it does not matter how many goals Cr7 has over him, I have watched both and I truly know who I would love to defend against. De lima is the better Ronaldo.
BlueRayDick: I really do not want to enter into the argument of the two Ronaldos, but all these attributes/qualities/benchmark u listed here Cristiano Ronaldo has them. At least we've seen him exhibit almost all in the past 10 years or thereabouts.
I noticed most people talking about Lima use the word "if" so much. Like ; "if òróró had played back then he wouldn't have survived the career-tgreatbing injuries serie A defenders dish out", "If De Lima was playing now, he would've surpassed everything òróró has achieved now".....etc. But are we to to based our judgement of the players on "if's" and "but's"?
Even the argument that ororo may not have survived the serie A doesn't hold water much. At least players still suffer broken ankles, broken legs and all in this modern Era. U can't use not having injury to knock ororo hustle. It may be debatable if you say he played with a better team ó....but say because he no get injury lailai
De Lima was unstoppable at his peak, often playing for less cohesive set ups and even very limited cast (Inter). He was unplayable in a Seria A which was the best league at that time - stacked up with talent, especially defensive one. He made a mockery of defenders like Maldini, Nesta, Cannavaro at their peak.
de disrespect Ororo gets is just... as in I just can't explain.
5time balon d or winner and 5time CL winner with over 600goals and he's below de limas level? like Wtf!
dis guy and zidane are the real definition of overrated.
De lima on his day was something else. I’ve never seen anyone terrorize a defense like he could in my life. He was my favourite player back then and he will always remain my favourite ever player. I don’t care how many Champions league CR7 has won, how many years he’s scored X+ goals, or any of that.
What I watched with my own two eyes with De Lima took my breath away in ways that CR7 never could.
Pogba is great obviously but he's something of a luxury player if you want consistency out of him (he does have the odd extremely boss game but those are few and far between) unless you surround him with quality. Pogba is the only source of creativity and when he screws up, the whole team does because there’s no one else to step up.
Mata is past it, Lingard isn't good enough, Perreira is a bit of a non factor, Fred is crap, Matic is past it and Garner & Gomes are only children.
Kimbeast: It is useless to say hazard is a superior player to de bruyne because he has won the PFA award and bruyne has not. The same rubbish can be used regarding aguero and vardy.
Albino boy over Hazard everyday and twice on Saturday
