CelebritiesBovi Playing Basketball And Looking So Serious by spinna(op):
You've never seen comedian Bovi this serious before as he took part in a recent celebrity basketball game sponsored by DSTV and others at Unilag. He was more his usual self after the game though. That's when he spoke about the bouncing sport and his love for it.

SportsM.I, Bovi, Darey,Gideon & Other's Battle At Multichoice All Stars Basketball by spinna(op):
A celebrity all-star game between popular radio station, The Beat 99.9FM and Channel O, was held today at the UNILAG sport's centre auditorium both official partners of ‘The MultiChoice @ 20 All Stars Basketball Challenge’

.The rather short "celebrity" game saw the Channel O team in their black jerseys defeat the Beat 99.9FM team in red. Some members of the Channel O team included M.I, Sound Sultan, comedian Bovi (we've never seen him SO serious) and Ikechukwu . Members of the Beat 99.9FM were urged on by Darey and radio host Olisa to no avail. Others players included Tinsel stars; Gbenro Ajibade and Ghost from Show Dem Camp (SDC), Nanle, Jimmie and Douglas of Beat FM, Skales, Melvin BBA, Steve of JJC, DJ Caise, Lere Awokoya, Karma of Naija Ninja and Blackah of Naija Ninja.Praiz and Gideon Okeke

This was followed by a game between two teams of professional basketballers drawn up from the Nigerian Basketball league.

Also in attendance were DBanj, Tiwa Savage, Beverly Osu of big brother fame and many other celebrities. Basketball lovers and enthusiasts had a great time .

Speaking about the music-themed sporting event, the music channel manager, Leslie Kasumba said “Channel O and MultiChoice are a family and this is a wonderful way to celebrate two decades of excellence in great entertainment, television and sports”

The competition was staged to provide basketball followers, lovers, other stakeholders and sponsors with a weekend of fun-filled action by the leading players (top stars) from the DStv Premier Basketball League. As part of the All Stars Challenge, traditional side attractions such as the Slam Dunk and free throws werestaged to amplify the excitement for fans. Other proud sponsors include; Sports kit company ‘AND1’, Sports channel SuperSport and GOtv.

Indeed DSTV and the other sponsors did a good job to promote the game of basketball today and we wish them all the best.
But it was funny the way Bovi was so serious at least his team won.

This video is sweet to watch because firstly the camera is like 5 inches from the lion; and secondly the guys are nigerian guys speaking broken english.

First they put a napkin near the cage

Then they actually put it inside the cage playing "tug of war" with the angry beast until...

But personally can you try this stunt they are trying?

TV/MoviesRe: The Day They Came (A Short Sci-fi Film) by spinna: 10:21pm On Sep 08, 2013
Wow what a wonderful job this will certainly win in any short film competition.

my humble review/critique:
Nice opening titles, your co. logo hinted at the sci fi nature of the film but the next title was a more goofy font. U could change that to your co logo font,
Good sound like the v.o, barking dogs and the scrunching of the sand as he walked, good changes of angle and there's always something about great movies and cigarrettes ,
but the good stuff, the jam. gravy, cornflakes, chinese and suya is the amazing 3d generated Robot Invaders!(around 1.11) that was the real wow. Their aircraft blast the street into flames destroying cars and buildings. You have a great CG gift my friend

The explosions were a bit too close to him and should have thrown him leaving him dirty and bruised maybe from one side , or he could have taken cover . Color correction was a little off on him (too golden) when the fire was behind him.

Then when you think it;s over an amazing end sequence with some really cool 3d blueprint views of the robots

Of course all criticism is said standing on the shoulders of a giant i.e you.

I would like to meet you some day.

TV/MoviesElephants In Ogun State! Unbelievable by spinna(op):
Riding bicycles in the Jungle? Elephants in Ogun State?

This is Africa Show : We went to the the O.S.O Jungle Bicycle race in Ogun State. We were the only media coverage at this very interesting event. Imagine riding a bicycle through a forest , with the huge distances, the hills and valleys and everything.

That was interesting enough but when i interviewed Nicholas Wicks of Nigerian Conservation Foundation's partner Organisation Pro Nature he categorically informed me that there were herds of wild forest elephants sighted in the forest! This is less than an hours drive from Lagos!. Unfortunately he also lamented the rapid loss of the forest to logging and that was the reason for the event - to raise awareness about conservation issues in Nigeria.

CultureThe Durbar, One Of Nigeria's Most Colourful Eid El Fitri Celebrations by spinna(op): 11:33am On Aug 09, 2013
A horse is a beautiful creature so a festival rooted in them is just amazing.Unfortunately Sallah Durbar has been cancelled in Kano this year due to insecurity. I hope this does not happen again.

The Durbar festival is an annual festival celebrated in several cities of Nigeria. It is celebrated at the culmination of Muslim festivals Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha. It begins with prayers, followed by a parade of the Emir and his entourage on horses, accompanied by music players, and ending at the Emir's palace.

The Durbar festival dates back hundreds of years to the time when the Emirate in the north used horses in warfare. Durbar. During this period, each town, district, and nobility household was expected to contribute a regiment to the defense of the Emirate.Once or twice a year, the Emirate military chiefs invited the various regiments for a Durbar (military parade) for the Emir and his chiefs.

During the parade, regiments would showcase their horsemanship, their preparedness for war, and their loyalty to the Emirate. Today, Durbar has become a festival celebrated in honor of visiting Heads of State and at the culmination of the two great Muslim festivals, Id-el Fitri (commemorating the end of the holy month of Ramadan) and Ide-el Kabir (commemorating Prophet Ibrahim sacrificing a ram instead of his son).

Of all the modern day Durbar festivals, Katsina Durbar is the most magnificent and spectacular. Id-el-Kabir, or Sallah Day, in Katsina begins with prayers outside town, followed by processions of horsemen to the public square in front of the Emir’s palace, where each village group, district, and noble house take their assigned place. Last to arrive is the Emir and his splendid retinue; they take up their place in front of the palace to receive the jahi, or homage, of their subjects.

The festival begins with each group racing across the square at full gallop, swords glinting in the sun. They pass just few feet away from the Emir, then stop abruptly to salute him with raised swords.

The last and most fierce riders are the Emir’s household and regimental guards, the Dogari. After the celebrations, the Emir and his chiefs retire to the palace, and enjoyment of the occasion reigns. This fanfare is intensified by drumming, dancing and singing, with small bands of Fulanis performing shadi, a fascinating sideshow to behold.
