I bought a used Saloon Car whose papers will expire early Nov. The owner left the number plate with me since I bought it.

I want to do change of ownership cert, renew the vehicle license too etc. And then return the number plate to him. But i can't afford everything at once but i will love to do all at once.

My question is, how long can vehicle license and others take, before it MUST be renewed as I want to do so around Mid December because I won't be around till then.

And also, can I do change of ownership without replacing the number plate since the previous owner isn't even asking for it/may even travel out for good soon.
