Klopp is smarter than this. All it takes is to tell Salah to drag Gabriel to the wing leaving a big hole in our defence which Zinchenko can't fill because he lacks a physical presence.
Anyway sha... let's see what happens You saw that the moment that happened when Zinchenko drifted inwards and left Gabriel for Salah, we began to control the game. I am really disappointed in Arteta that I could know this ahead of him. It's a shame. We wasted the first half. |

mostob: Spy, try and pay attention today against Liverpool. We have been using 4-2-4 frequently when building up. And Havertz doesn't drop deep to partner Rice. We mostly press in 4-1-4-1. This may change depending on the tactic our opponent employed. I saw it. You were right. That also has been undoing because it leaves us with a Salah Vs Zinchenko situation which I never wanted. Also we seem to have lost the midfield and Liverpool are having the upper hand. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Spy360(m): 5:33pm On Dec 23, 2023 |
mostob: We now often use 4-2-4 as against 3-2-5 we mostly used last season, with Zinny staying wide. That is why you're seeing Ode dropping deep lately with Havertz staying up top. So he doesn't need to invert before we control game.
If other teams can give the like of Martinelli and Saka attention, who are we not to give Salah attention. We are talking about Salah here bro...a player that can singlehandedly punish a team. No sir. When we are in possession it's a 3-2-2-3 with Zinny inverting to midfield with Rice. When we are not in possession it's a 4-2-4 with Havertz dropping into M as a double pivot with Rice. That 3-2-2-3 is for the purpose on controlling the midfield. As long as we have the ball, Salah is useless. He cannot even press. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Spy360(m): 5:48am On Dec 23, 2023 |
mostob: Asking Zinchenko to invert and defend at the same time is exactly why he sometimes make mistake. I've watched him enough to conclude he usually makes less mistake when he is saddled with one job on the pitch. That he should stay in his position doesn't mean he can't keep possession. There will just be limit to how he invert. What is our tactics? If he does not invert then he isn't the best option for that position and Arteta isn't the manager. We need Zinny to invert so that we can control the midfield. If we don't control the midfield Liverpool will roast us. The biggest mistake we will do is to give Salah any form of attention. That will derail our team and structure. To deal with Salah is to simply block all passing lanes to him or drag him into the middle. Salah can't do shit if no one passes the all to him. He won't even come for the ball. |

mostob: I think Zinny usually plays better whenever he is expected to be roasted. He should just concentrate on defending tomorrow. This will be his undoing. We need him to just keep possession and not to lose the ball. As for Salah, Gabriel will mark him. My opinion though ✌️ |

How to beat Liverpool
TAA inverts on the right full back (same way Zinchenko inverts as our left full back). This will leave a lot of spaces on that side of the pitch where both Salah and Martinelli will have space to run. If we hold possession of the ball better than Liverpool and knowing that they will not sit back and defend, we will have a chance opening them up as long as we beat their press. It will be the same reason they will beat us. Our only advantage will be that GJ drops deeper into midfield and overload the left wing. I don't know if Liverpool will adopt a similar striker, if they don't, we win easily as their defense is fragile. |

In the tactics or pattern Arsenal plays, with Jesus dropoing deep we have three goal outlets, that is Saka, Odegaard and Martinelli. If we get a CF that is only interested in goals and so does not drop deep, our goal outlet reduces to just one. Him.
While that can work it weakens a team generally. Look at Man City last season and this as example. The reason we can challenge Man City is because they have one threat- Haaland.
Arteta is a wise manager. Three is better than one. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Spy360(m): 2:26am On Dec 22, 2023 |
daveP: The think is even as a natural, Nketiah still never step up. Esp away from home. One can't have such a long drought of goals in several dozens of away fixtures and inspire hope in said manager. Luckily he's top scorer this season and even Nelli still dey boot.
As for Workrate overall, Jesus still trumps him. So it's not about him wanting to play a striker and just field Nketiah. It is about getting it just the way worldclass 9 do it. Benzema? Kane? Lewa?
I just know Arteta knows he needs one. It's not possible to have a CF that drops deep like Jesus and still score hatricks twice a month like Kane or whoever you are asking for. If Arteta wants goals from his CF, Jesus won't be starting ahead of Nketiah. Have you realised that Nketiah almost always scores in any game he starts? We underrate him. Any time Arteta begins to look for a replacement for Jesus as someone that scores goals, just know that he wants to change his main tactics. Simple. |

daveP: Lol
Our top rivals are using it to win. Why can't we also do it like them or better? Why? Before GW 18, they had a better GD already. That translates to them maintaining the tempo. Why can't we have it all since that's Champion's mentality? Let's forget the low teams. Na dem sabi. Yes, we score pass Invincibles but the stakes to wrest power from the Defending champs lies in having a near equal attack-scoring goals. Isnt that part of why Good Ebening is now top 4? Or one doesn't translate to the other?
My point is still simple sha. I get your point but the best sign of a good team is GA not GF. Defense wins you league |

daveP: Of course it is obvious what i want and others that see my consistent pov. No i am not conflating any two issues. I am saying we need a firepower up front like auba. Sometimes we act like auba no even score 22 for us. Seeing no one has replicated that, but we are hyped about 88 shows many never ready.
It is a feat, but we are COMPETING and need to outperform top opponents, CITY!
So, we need it now more than ever. We are even back(obviously so) after game week 17. 35goals vs 40 last season on same GW17.
We need firepower. 100+ should be the target. We should not wait till we score less than 88 after last game to now accept this angle.
Besides, why do we have to imagine an incoming 9 will distort style? How convenient!!!! If Arteta wants to play a striker, Nketiah would be starting ahead of Jesus. He has played fewer minutes but has scored far more goals. I remember I had this argument last season with Jodera. But he has come to see what I was saying. |

Honestly, you made accurate and fair assessment of Artetas Flaw as a manager.
You also did justice to my question, you did so with facts, not just hard facts, but historical fact and trends, receipts choke everywhere.
I won’t lie, I sometimes thought your criticism of Arteta was unfair, even though I always respected your opinion, because we both share something in common, we love this club and want it to succeed.
All in all, I am loyal to Arsenal not Arteta, all I want is for this club to win something either by Arteta or not, even though I like him being our coach for now. The bolded are contrasting |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Spy360(m): 7:09pm On Dec 21, 2023 |
daveP: Yes we got 88 last season. But who else saw the GD that City used to win that league? And some of us are content with that, thinking that the players that gave that 88 would replicate it absolutely. We've even forgotten auba sef. 22goals back to back. That's a consistency we crave but is absent in our Attacking Line right now. A consistency that Ollie was nowhere to be seen but is now bossing on the list of G&A.
Bottomline: Let's aim higher abeg. If you're comfy with 88 then you're thinking very small. Verrrryy small. Considering the teams we are up against. I always say if it went down to deciding title by GD, we won't cos we haven't been set up to give that. But some are satisfied that everyone is netting. Naaaaaah. Factory Reset pls!! Do you want points or GD? Are you planning for GD to decide title? Some teams have better GD than us but are lower on the table. |

@Roland17 on your post, please don't take it as I am coming to Arteta's defense but rather to create a simple balance because Arteta won't be here to defend himself.
First of all, we need to really decide what we want. Do we want to win titles or we want to see Hale End school boys become stars. If it's the former then I think Arteta is doing very well. Another thing is that giving chances to youngsters can have it's own negative influence if not well handled. Some youth players may be physically ready to play with the first team but are they mentally ready? Would they not jump the band because they feel they have arrived and begin to demand for impossible contracts etc. We saw how we lost Hutchinson to Chelsea, so where is he now? How many goals have Balogun scored for Monaco? May be if we had handled their development for a bit more time they would be here by next season winning games for us. While they can go on to become good players their decisions to leave favoured no one.
Secondly, it would be harsh to blame Arteta for all the injuries our players have suffered. One or two yea, but definitely that should not mean he was at fault for us losing the league last season due to injuries.
In terms of man management, I think in this case you were completely wrong. You only look at the dressing room and the bond of love and unity that has made Arsenal an envy to other clubs to know how man management works. The question is, how does the owners feel about the business interest? Then you look at those cases you mentioned like Aubameyang and Guendouzi and ask what happened to them after they left. I support absolute intolerance to bad characters and that's exactly what Arteta stands for and that is the bedrock of what has propelled him to the top of English football in recent times.
In the case of losing the league last season, I agree that Arteta does not have the experience but you have to get to the top of the league first before winning it. He got to the top for many months. I recall you wanted experienced Conte, before he went to Tottenham, so where is he now with all the experience? Where is Allegri? Arteta is doing well for his experience. We lost the league because Man City was the best team in the world not because of any lack of experience from Arteta. |
