We had better get another good midfielder instead of thinking this Jorhinho will depitoze for Partey and we won't miss Partey .

Against a physical and technical side like Westham who also have pace upfront, he fields Kiwior/ Jorg/ Kai/ Vieira.. I mean..what were you expecting? I expected Tomi to start ahead of Kiwior at CB or White. I wouldn’t even mind seeing Kai upfront as CF if that meant he did not start in the middle.

With all that being said, I am not interested in EFL and that’s why I did not get too involved even when we were losing.

We have Newcastle in the league and they are in top form. I'd lose twice to West Ham in a carabao cup than to lose to Newcastle once. I think Tomi will start against Newcastle or will be a major part of the game plan.

What this lost tells me is that our second team failed themselves and will therefore have limited playing time without complaining.

Your problem is that you are still stuck with '90s football.

These days the idea of positional play has moved from the traditional methods where you think the no 9 has to be the goal scorer or the no 2 is a fullback and has to run along the touch line. You need to look at what a player is told to do and how he goes about doing it.

I have said that while Jorginho and Partey are both DMs, their roles differ. Jorginho is usually asked to drop in to the back three when we play from the back. He positions himself on the RCD during buildup. His role is basically to transit the ball around the back three. This is unlike Partey who is more like a play maker from deep apart from his defensive duties. If you are thinking Jorginho will e making defense splitting passes from deep who will wait for years because that is not his playing pattern.

If we can be complaining for these players all the way here in Nigeria mostly, how then do you think these players won't see themselves as bench players?

Trossard is a bench player, I like him and I want him to start but presently he's a bench player. Havertz was initially a starter but due to his underwhelming performances, he lost his spot (which is normal for any competitive team).

The only person presently I won't see as bench player recently(this season)is Tomi and that's because he starts matches or substitute Zinny halfway (sometimes half time) even when Zinny is fit.

You can't be seeing 15min and 20min of football in a match of averagely 93 mins(inclusive of added time) when everyone is fit and you'll be claiming that you're not a bench player.

Where that one dey happen?

Any player that gets to play every match day cannot be said to be a bench player.

A bench player is someone who does see game time regularly . Key word is bolded. I have given examples as Vieira, Kiwior and the baba of them all, Elneny.

Some of us wants Trossard to start games, that doesn't mean he isn't a bench player. Some of us also wants ESR to start games over Havertz and Viera but does that mean he isn't a bench player presently?

The only person that fits into your bill is Tomi and that's even recently. As at last season, everyone knows our starters and the bench players. Liverpool have starters and bench players, Man u same team, Tottenham same thing. And that's what bring consistency

The only two big clubs not have regular starting 11 is Chelsea (due to their transition state) and Guardiola's Man City prior to this season

Pep has always kept the fewest number of players in his first team. Usually about 20players when others have up to 30. This has always been his way. There's no need to argue except we list their players last season.

As for bench players, if you agree that Tomi and Trossard are not bench players, then same should apply to Havertz because they have played similar no of games and in fact Havertz has started more games than the others.

The only reason Trossard and Nketiah are seeing more minutes than usual compared to Viera and Kiwior is because of injuries to the first team players.

Nketiah was a starter early this season even when Jesus was fit. While some of us here have called for Trossard to start games. Or is it Tomiyasu? So we should not be comparing them with the likes of Nelson and Kiwior who hardly start even Carabao cup.

And as per Pep, everyone knows that he hardly changes his first eleven even in less important competitions. If there's anyone that sticks to his team it's Pep. In fact he has the leanest first team among the top clubs.

There's nothing presently that Havertz is doing that wasn't minimum for most of our players from last season and two seasons ago. Absolute Nothing!!

Last season, I always commend Odegaard in his interpretation of half space, dummy pass and his winning of balls (he has the highest win rate of balls in the opposition half amongst all Midfielders in EPL , you can check it out). No day have you ever ever hyped his off the ball abilities here.
In fact, first match of last season against crystal palace (where he was adjudged to play badly), he had the highest tackle and ball recovery in the match. You didn't come to his defence that day for his off the ball activities.
The less said about Xhaka off the ball, the better for my epistles.

Suddenly, Messiah Havertz is now the best in left 8 for us for doing the barest minimum modern football requires (off the ball) and you're singing it like one big Achievement.

Role. Role. He was playing the Odegaard role. Im rating him by that. All these off ball excuses seems to be cooked for only him and it's getting stale. Very well is exaggeration. He's not the only off ball player in existence. But those in such category also impact on the ball too.

I am not saying he is better than Odegaard, I am saying he should be given his accolades.

Besides, players can play the same role but in different ways. Jorginho for example plays the DM but does so differently from Partey. Havertz plays off the ball and is very effective at it which makes all the managers he has played under to live him. Arteta saw his performance at Chelsea and was still willing to pay 65m and 300k weekly for him. That speaks volumes.

A man commits fraud in his company. He is taken to court but the petition was not submitted with evidence because the evidence were hideen. Then after hearing, the vouchers proving the theft were discovered and brought to court. But the court rejects the evidence because they were not front loaded with the petition.

Our judiciary use technicalities to throw away evidence whereas other countries use technicalities to take in evidence as facts.

It is established fact that Tinubu forged his certificates but the SC threw the facts away with the excuse that they don't take in evidence.

The bolded is not really my point. It is simply about how selection is made on march day and why.

For example, some players are selected for their physicality eg Saliba, Gabriel, Rice. Some for their technique eg Zinchenko, Saka, Martinelli, Odegaard. While some for their tactical prowess eg White, Havertz, Raya.

Some fall in-between like Partey or possess multiple attributes like Rice etc.

In most cases the coach can afford not to play physical or technical players but it will be very hard for them to ignore the tactical players because they are the brain of the team and they determine how the team plays, how others move and what tactics the manager wants..

Arteta has been enough in management to start planning on Jesus and Nelli switching natural spots as often as possible during attack transition. Best Goals of Nelli surprisingly come from the centre runs, and some of the sweetest by Jesus has been from the wing. Besides, Jesus is a quick decision maker when he's in that wing compared to Nelli. There is more assurance in a fan's chest that Nelli will waste or kill an attack vibe than get a goal. Besides, many managers now put 2 on Saka and Nelli lately. I expect Arteta to quickly do something about this or we may see Saka going on a permanent goal drought against big teams. Assists is bare minimum to me by Saka Standards. He also needs a deputy. Loved how he gave experienced Acuna big problems.

It's also time we start firing from 20-30yards out abeg. One thing i hate in football is predictability. Esp when you know you've been figured out yet rinse and repeat. This season,no shot/on target for more than an hour is worrisome. I trust a Granit Xhaka in such games.

As for Raya, i feel he's enjoying Spanish Privileges at this rate. He's nowhere near Ramsdale. Those bicycle kicks Mariano kept seeing, i trust Rams to have done something more than simply watch, which brings me to White


White is shaky!!! Saliba can't continue to cover for him. He is sluggish at recovery to defend and that's too consistent and it is annoying. Man marking is a problem too. Aerial awareness seems like zero. He is a gem in attack. But it looks like he wants to prove that Zinch is learning work near him. He needs to step up.
