Excellent thoughts Nwannem, I thoroughly enjoyed reading.

I had to go back and watch them even closer and I realized Emery is implementing the bulk of the same thing he was trying with us as coach.

One of the tactic Emery utilizes is quick passing to transition from defense to attack, see their goal against City. They are not necessary trying to engage in midfield plays when they have possession because they want to be direct and transition into the final third of opponents half quickly.

They also use long balls to transition plays from defense to the attack, thus evading the need to involve the midfield, see my first point. I saw Emery utilize this particular tactic when he coached us. They have 2 pacy forwards who can make runs behind the defense to connect with those long balls from defense.

Long/ outside shots and the use of aerial balls to attack. For a team with small midfielders and attackers, they sure attack aerially. This is where I am most worried about because of Raya. We need Raya to control and dominate aerial play, otherwise we will get punished. The use of long shots is intentional because they have quick attackers who can attack any rebounds or spills from the goalkeeper.

Overall, this is going to be a tough game and I believe Emery still harbors some discontentment with how he was let go and would want to use that as motivation. I believe this team can give a professional and disciplined performance and get all 3 points.
Absolutely. 💯
Emery also knows how to sit back and defend. I saw it in his Spanish teams especially in Europa League. I have never seen it this season though.

I don't know what Arteta will do to mitigate those runs. Neither White nor Zinchenko is fast. Do we keep a high line to match theirs or do we defend deep and catch them on the counter?

Raya has been a concern. That's why I said Ramsdale only needs to focus on the competition because I don't see Raya better than him.

Don’t be overconfident
With the confidence and momentum gained from the Man City win
Aston Villa and their fans are planning to batter Arsenal on Saturday
@ The Villa Park

Bailey & Watkins are deadly

Looking like Liverpool will win their next 4 games to clinch the top position @ mid season
If they come all out it will be the best scenerio for Arsenal.

The bolded is the main point. Their strength may end up being their weakness in that match. I wan see how their FBs go advance with Martinelli and Saka on the wing. I'm particularly worried about Zinchenko...
Usually they allow their central players to remain defensive while the wide players create an overload in the opponent's half waiting to attack with speed.

The best way to deal with this is to keep your CF wide at the weakest most vulnerable point. G Jesus should join either Martinelli or Saka in the wide areas. This will force their formation to bend towards one side and create lots of openings on the other side.

These are just my thoughts. Every formation no matter how strong has a weakness, it's left for the opposing managers to figure it out.

How To Beat Villa

1. Your fullbacks must be fast. Villa plays wide and will stretch the opponent as wide as possible using pacing wingers and fullbacks in joint attacks.

2. You must be positionally disciplined. Villa thrives on chaos, allow the game to be open and suffer.

3. Your CF must be out wide not central. Villa plays advanced fullback positioning using a high defense line. The advanced fullback leaves a wide space to explore. If you focus on marking them you lose. Instead capitalise on their weakness. Keep an extra man wide to overload that area of the pitch preferably the area where Diaby is.

Truth be told, Yorubas have the highest number of investment out the South West.

Here are the top Yoruba investment in the South East:

1. Redeemed Christian Church of God

2. Deeper Life Church

3. The Apostolic Church

4. Celestial Church of Christ

5. Mountain of Fire Ministries

South East governors should start taxing these Yoruba investments.

Nothing u've written here explains why he benched an uninjured Gabriel for Kiwior earlier the season. That particular decision looked like trying to fix what is not broken.

Like I said earlier, thank God he backed out of that position and we have a stronger backline once again.
I am not arguing about the point you made. I am equally happy we have a solid back line. I am only saying 'perhaps' he wanted to try new thing to make us less predictable. At least there is proof of our being more predictable.

He held his calf now. The speed at which the physio used his comms and kept talking for long should allow any of us to know this is no fatigue issue, at least.
Holding his calf may suggest an injury but it cannot make a conclusion. The manager says it's fatigue, if you strongly doubt with enough evidence then let's hear it.

Well, the something new didn't look too good to we the fans. Thank God he backed out and we have a solid CB partnership now.
You can never tell. He had Timber which gave him multiple options and he had to change some things from last season to prevent us being too predictable. For example, teams playing against us double up on both Saka and Martinelli. This has the advantage of making us stronger in defense as we are less prone to attack but at the same time it has the disadvantage of making us weaker in attack as Saka or Martinelli would have to put in extra effort to affect the game.

After his goal today against Wolves, Bukayo Saka (36) has now scored more Premier League goals for Arsenal than Cesc Fabregas (35) in 64 less games.

He needs five more to overtake Aaron Ramsey (40) who is next in the list.

Only 13 Arsenal players have scored more goals in the Premier League than Bukayo Saka.

He’s only 22 years old… #afc

There’s no explanation for the madness bro . The only defence I can come up with in favor of Arteta as a stan is : “ Most likely he did that to bring out the best in Gabriel ; maybe he wanted to put him in a situation to let him know he’s not indispensable “ .

Arsenal’s defence in the league has conceded the least of goals this season . Gabriel and Saliba partnership is crazy ! No CB pairing in the league comes close . We’ve only conceded 10 prior to Cunha’s goal yesterday .
Or probably he wanted to try something new

He should have just told us Tomiyasu will be evaluated and he doesn’t know extent of the injury or what the injury is.

The response on this thread is one of excitement and positivity after reading your post because of course we all need Tomiyasu but the fact is fatigue isn’t why he dropped to the ground clutching his calf in discomfort.
How confident are you on a scale of 1 to 10 that the injury is a calf injury? Let's start from there.

From Arteta's statement, it seems Vieira had been playing/ training with the groin injury before the red card game and they were trying to manage the injury. The degree of damage may have gotten worse and beyond what they can manage without surgery after that game.
I am not sure I will miss him. He hasn't been as productive as I wished when he joined. I was thinking he would be our own Bernardo Silva.

People here are whining over the Ramsdale issue like they only read English press and don't reason for themselves.

How on earth will you blame Arteta for Ramsdale's poor mentality? As a player, you are built for competition both within the club and outside against other clubs. So if you fickle out because of small competition then you shouldn't be in sports. You should be a nanny.

We are too emotional as fk. If these were English people I would understand but how do Naija niggers carry matter wey no concern them for head?

At the end of all these rubbish complains, where is Arteta and Arsenal on the league table?

Guys we have a goalkeeping problem! Neither inspire confidence to me.
For Ramsdale, it's the pressure of playing second keeper after being no 1. I like how he focused on kicking away the ball instead of trying to impress the manager by passing out from the back. However, it only goes to confirm why Arteta prefers Raya. This game despite the clean sheet will not xonvince Arteta.

Na Spy360 get us this week. A smash and grab was inevitable because Brentford were very compact and recovered well without the ball.
The goal isn't the main point. It's the way he used his movements in and around the final third to help us control the game. The goal was only an added bonus for him. Also a brilliant cross from Saka.

Nna I go review all these activities abeg. I realise say na my Madam dey cause all these billings not the kids directly. Even piano lessons they grumble every Sunday that they don't want to go. Last weekend my son walked out of football practice after 10 mins saying he's not doing again and my daughter walked out halfway through like some NLC worker, and they are always grumbling before they go. I later asked my wife how much we pay for football, she said £38 for each per month, and they miss half their lessons anyway. I said cancel it from December. From now we will only pay for what they show passion in and take initiative on except swimming which is a life saving skill. My papa no pay one kobo for me to play ball and I never failed to play everyday and twice on weekends for free. These guys can't trap ball after 3 years training and plenty billings because they ignore the footballs I strategically placed around the house and do no practice outside of their lessons.

See those costumes billings na another one. Christmas dance and drama shows are coming up and between billings for costumes and buying show tickets for all and sundry, I come dey wonder if I dey train pikin for university. But if I play Kizz Daniel song, dem go dey move off beat after how many years of these dance school billings. But bring any Naija pikin play beat, dem go dey move on beat without going to any dance school. I believe we just dey whine ourself with these things, and outsourcing certain life skills at premium cost. Heaven will not fall if I dance with my daughter every weekend, I guarantee after 3 months she go dey move rhythmically while if I play ball with my son for garden for 6 months, he go dey raise 10 easily. All these lessons na keeping up with the Joneses wey mummies group dey do.
Oh lord 😂😂😂😂

While I wish for that to happen but I'm afraid that forced debate won't happen.

As it is, Arteta have made Raya his number one and we all know how stubborn Arteta is with his decision.

The reason why I'm hoping for Ramsdale to put in a commanding and good show is because let it be that Arteta have someone good to fall back on Incase Raya starts misbehaving or sort.

But for the number one debate, I'm over certain it's Raya.
Raya is only No1 because he is better with foot work. If Ramsdale improves with his composure playing with defenders he will be a better goalie.
