garfield1: Oga,one man one vote.it can differ in numbers but not importance I just gave you a vivid example of how votes may be equal but not equivalent. You gave nothing. Just as your party you have no evidence. Take another explanation. 100k votes in Lagos is equal to 100k votes in Bayelsa. But the percentage will not be the same. The person who got 100k votes in Bayelsa also has 25% spread but the person who got 100k votes in Lagos will not have the 25% spread. The votes of FCT are equal to those in other states. But it has a higher equivalent value. I didn't say this, the constitution did. |

garfield1: Section 28 says all voters and places are equal.an earlier provision of the constitution supercedes a later provision Votes are equal but not equivalent. That's why there is need for 25% spread in the states and the FCT. 25% in Bayelsa is 25% in Lagos. But the numbers will differ. |

seunmsg: When votes are voided, they are deducted from the lawful votes. So, the calculation will now be based on the remaining lawful votes in which case, he will easily get the required 25% spread. Votes from disqualification are called wasted votes. They do not change the percentages. I will keep correcting you until you have sense. |

seunmsg: Another gibberish as usual. What the fvck is with you guys and illogical interpretation of clear and straightforward provisions?
(3) In a default of a candidate duly elected in accordance with subsection (2) of this section their shall be a second election in accordance with subsection (4) of this section at which the only candidate shall be - (a) the candidate who scored the highest number of votes at any election held in accordance with the said subsection (2) of this section; and (b) one among the remaining candidates who has a majority of votes in the highest number of States, so however that where there are more than one candidate with majority of votes in the highest number of States, the candidate among them with the highest total of votes cast at the election shall be the second candidate for the election.
Atiku won majority of votes in the highest number of states (12) among the remaining candidates. Peter Obi won in only 11 states. There is nothing like 50% or whatever nonsense you’re trying to conjure up from Ipob bureau of statistics hq. It is clear and straightforward. You have a basic problem with English. Go and find the meaning of majority. |

aswani: Penguin2, how can they agree Peter Obi won any of those states when at no time did he present any proof or even petition the Tribunal to say he did?
Peter Obi brought paper copies of blurred results on IREV, how is that going to sway the judges to determine he won those two states?
Stop clutching at straws, Obidients were banging on about stolen mandate when Obi himself didn't bother telling his lawyers to claim he won. He simply said INEC miscalculated his scores in Rivers and Benue. That if well calculated according to what INEC gave as CTCs he won both state. No respondent has argued or disputed that. No one. In fact it doesn't need argument or proof. It's there. Just there. |
Politics › Re: Tribunal: The Difference Between “Rerun” And “Runoff” Election. by Spy360(m): 8:39am On Jul 28, 2023 |
Penguin2: I think that provision is simple and straightforward.
The first candidate to make a runoff is the candidate with simple majority.
The next is the candidate that won the most state behind the person with simple majority.
So, if in the end, the Tribunal agrees Obi won Rivers and Benue, it would mean Obi won 14 states and Tinubu won 10 states but had simple majority.
Now, if any runoff should happen it would be between Tinubu who had simple majority and Obi who won 14 states.
Ignore Wole Olanikpekun’s stupid and criminal interpretation of the constitution. A small correction here. The constitution says a majority in the highest number of states. That is the one that scored above 50% in most states. So if Atiku won 12 states but has no majority votes but Peter Obi won 11states but have 2 majority votes, then it's Peter Obi not Atiku. |

seunmsg: If a candidate is disqualified, there will be no rerun, runoff, second election or whatever the nomenclature is.
The court will simply void all the vote of the disqualified candidate and return a winner based on the remaining valid votes.
If Peter Obi is disqualified, Tinubu will remain the winner. If Atiku is disqualified, Tinubu will remain the winner. If Tinubu is disqualified, Atiku will be returned as the winner. Head or tail, Obi will never become president. Atiku does not have the 25% needed in FCT. I don't think he has the two third spread in 24 states. |

seunmsg: Semantics like i told you before. A second election is a second election. I don’t need Oxford dictionary to know the meaning of a second election as stated in the constitution.
Like I told you before, the FCT issue is the only one that can lead to a second election and if that’s the case, it will be between Tinubu and Atiku. Head or tail, Peter Obi is out. There will be no second election or runoff. That's because the constitution says it should be done within seven days. That requirement in time barred. Hence no runoff. The highest the court will do is a rerun. |

seunmsg: Show me where the constitution said runoff when no one meets the requirements to be retuned elected as president and I will delete this account.
2, if the court agrees that 25% in FCT is compulsory, then FCT is not treated like a state so Peter Obi’s states falls to 11 and not 12.
Again, the constitution said the second candidate will be the candidate that has the next highest votes in all the states. Atiku has the next highest votes after Tinubu in 21 states while Obi has in 16 states. Anyhow the law is interpreted, Obi will not be on the ballot if there is a second election. There is provision for runoff or second election in the constitution section 134 (3). You can now delete this account. |

BlueRayDick: A midfielder who holds on to the ball too much and loses possession easily is as good as useless . Those two qualities are the most important qualities of a good midfielder .
Knowing when to pass and not losing possession easily is why people rated dem Iniesta , Xavi and co.
When I was playing amateur football, the only position I do not like playing is midfield cos it demands a lot from u. I can play RB and any attacker/winger will find it hard to penetrate that right hand side of defence . I can play as a right winger cos I’m skillful and know how to beat my marker on the wings . But midfield ? It demands so much from u. In fact u can train to be a good striker , defender or winger , but midfield ehn….. if u don’t have it , u don’t have it.
That’s why I dey always hail Partey , he sabi the thing ! You are right about what it takes to be a midfielder. It's not about skill but having an unspeakable self awareness. Being able to know what's happening around you. Players like Vieira and Keane didn't have to be skillful to man a midfield. |

Wò, if Havertz shines in that Midfield, I no want make anybody to claim any credit sha with "I told you so", since you don finally deny am. I am not denying what I said. In that conversation, some questioned why we got Havertz when we have ESR saying he is better. My response was that Havertz was not brought because of his performance in Chelsea (which we have all accepted as poor) but because of his talent. I then concluded that he is better than ESR in terms of talents I said I prefer ESR in that Xhaka role, simply because he has a right leg. That's just my own tactical view. I want a right footed player there to balance with Odegaard who is leftie. This does not in anyway negate the possibility that Havertz will shine there. Afterall, Xhaka who he is replacing there also has a left foot. So while your choice of ESR is because you think he is better, my choice of ESR is because of his right foot. |

Garfield1 I will like to see your opinion on this. thisweekng: The Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara has been warned by former militant leader, Asari Dokubo to stay clear of his business.
This is coming days after Dokubo was spotted in a video addressing a private army which he claimed works for President Bola Tinubu.
Dokubo in the latest viral video stated that Governor Fubara would face serious issues than Boko Haram if he does not stay clear of his business.
The ex-militant leader also claimed that the governorship election that brought Fubara in was rigged.
Dokubo, while reacting to reports that the Rivers State Governor has given the military a marching order to clampdown on his private army, said, “If yanga dey sleep, trouble go come wake am…em go collect..If you do anyhow, you see anyhow. Boko Haram will be a child’s play.
“Because we no look for somebody trouble. We dey on our own. We dey even help, e say make we no help. Him dey talk because them rig election put am somewhere.
“Wetin we do Sim? Them rig election, He is in government house. The person wey dey beat that drum with am, make him know the wood when they beat drum sometimes e dey break.
“We nor look for him trouble, make e nor look for our trouble o because if him look for our trouble, him go collect’. Under the constitution of Nigeria, we equal to am. Him nor be anybody. He is just an ordinary citizen just like Dr. Asari”

Jodera: This was your first post when you quoted me when I voiced my opinion against Havertz signing. Read carefully your bolded
This was my reply to you. Emphasis on the bolded.
Then this is you confirming to that my previous post that Havertz is Indeed better than ESR in that Midfield.
We even argued this your opinion on and on but I'll stop here. In one of your posts also, you said you'll not be happy if he played as a striker
Isn't it surprising you're now claiming otherwise?
I no wan drag you but make you just try deh stay one place make we know your stand, so that we fit accord you your W accordingly and if there's an L, we fit give you accordingly. This your double takes fit confuse thunder. Same thing you did with Balogun and Zinny.

I even made mention of his poor performance in Chelsea as not being the value placed on him. Let me repeat for doubt sake, that Havertz is a more talented individual than ESR. ESR may perform better but that's another argument entirely. By the way, the reason I said I preferred ESR in the no 8 LAM has nothing to do with his performance. Take note. |

Surprising to see you now prefer ESR to Havertz I said Havertz is more talented but I didn't say he is better than ESR. In fact I will be surprised if I said so especially in that position. Actually my choice is ESR is basically because he is right footed and so creates a balance with Odegaard (left footed) on the right AM and a counter balance with Martinelli on the LW (they can easily alternate). Where I actually thought Havertz will play is more as a sub for Saka (mainly) and also accross the attacking third. |
